You are not putting her down , you are giving her the last act of kindness she deserves. She probably gave her utmost to humans its the only decent thing that can be done .
These horses which were abused by the Amish then just discarded to slaughter, are precious and deserved kindness and love. It seems the Amish don't understand this.
I would give anything to bring one of these wonderful beings into my care, but don't have the money or land. How anyone can abuse and neglect these beautiful beings...🥺🤬 Thank you for rescuing them 🙏🏼👍🏼❤
Opal's situation is heartbreaking, but it's good she will be put down in a calm/caring environment. Her last days won't be spent in the confusion and fear of the slaughter pipeline. Thank you for everything you do for the horses!
Medical treatment on the regular would be a start. Farmers take care of their farm equipment and trucks. One would think work horses would fall in to that category. Still, shameful in this day and age to allow animals to suffer needlessly.
Opal is NOT a failure on your part. Putting her to sleep gently sends her forward to greener pastures and spares her the nightmare journey to mexico. Sometimes that's the best we can offer...and that is no small thing when you consider the suffering she won't have to endure because you cared enough to rescue her.
No, you had the courage to let Opal go and show her the love and kindness her owner wouldn't, she needed this because of the cancer which you realize was life threatening.
My heart hurts for Opal. That beautiful girl deserves so.much.ore than what she has been given. When her time comes to cross The Rainbow Bridge to The Greenest Pasture, she will do so knowing that she was loved, cared for and respected. Thank you for giving her back her dignity. You're truly doing the Lord's work with your rescue of these majestic animals. Thank you.
I really feel so bad for her It is so not fair so not fair., Like u said just make her as happy and comfortable as possible. Thanks Julie for being who you are
the last act of kindness is always the best..to limited the pain when the quality of life isn't longer given..especially for Opal..thank you all for rescuing her from the slaughter-pipeline..❤❤❤ greetings from Costa Rica & Switzerland ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I just noticed that newer girl has a big sore on her face and jaw area, the halter must of stay on her face for years!! Im really starting to not like humans anymore! So happy she found her way to Fletcher farms!!❤❤❤
It's the Amish and how the don't believe animals are sentient beings, they are just "things" to be used until they can't work anymore. Such a weird mindset which brings unbearable suffering to these beautiful and innocent creatures. Thank GOD for Fletcher Farms and other rescues, I know I couldn't pick who comes home and who doesn't.
I was doing dog rescue for over 10 years, and it’s the same there. And yes the Amish run puppymills and they are horrible. But most of the dogs were owner surrendered, and a lot of them were old, and sick. People suck. I found the hardest part to have to trust an adopter with one of my foster dogs.
I’m so sorry that Opal has a sad prognosis. These horses are so majestic and beautiful and I’m so pleased you have rescued them all. I know that you will give Opal all the love and kindness you can. She will know she is so loved in whatever time she has left. ❤
I believe with my heart and soul you are all doing God's work caring for some of his beautiful creatures. Bless you. I wish I lived closer to volunteer my help.
The Amish farm owners need to be held accountable for allowing their horses to suffer like they do! I know the federal and state humane societies have jurisdiction over these farms, so why don't they inspect and fine them for their cruel and inhumane practices?! I know these Amish communes are wealthy, so is that why nothing is ever done?!
I just can’t help it - I tear up watching those beautiful and sometimes quite broken horses loading up so trustingly into your incredible trailer. Six! You are wonderful - God bless you for your kindness and courage ❤️🙏❤️
That unassuming trailer, passing it on the highway one would never know how wonderful it really is :) oooh! it could be decorated to bring awareness to the cause.
Thank you for saving Opal from a horrible trip and execution at a slaughter house. Every penny spent was worth saving her from a horrific fate, even though she is put to sleep soon. Thank you!!
God bless you for taking care of these animals and for doing what is needed for them even if it results in the last act of kindness. At least they go and cross the Rainbow Bridge knowing they were loved. 😥🙏💕🐎💔
They live in their own world no respect or empathy for anything outside their world. They use things up and then discard them, just like the Nazis, cruel human beings.
The hardest choices are those that are driven by empathy and cold reality. She has metastasis thru out her orbits, sinus', and skull. You made the best of a sad situation. Plenty of ❤🎉, snacks and companionship of others of her kind, in the sun and gentle breezes. Not a dark, frightening prison cell.
I can't help but think "deja vue" about this latest rescue...the first belgian rescue was of 6, one with severe eye cancer...and now for the 100 th episode theres another group of 6, and unfortunately, one with severe eye cancer. I recall the heartache of Grandpa's death, and the elation of Quinns rescue -literally taken off the slaughter bound truck! These past 2+ years have been filled with smiles, heartaches, anxiety & overwhelming satisfaction because of FFA, BHF & all the 2 and 4 legged beings making this channel possible. May God grant you the strength, wisdom, compassion & finances to continue to offer the life that these beautiful gentle ( & occasionally frisky) creatures deserve. Thank you for all that you do. And thank goodness for the wind-muffling microphone!❤
This is one of the major reasons i strongly dislike (hate) the Amish they treat their animals like s h - t i wouldn't doubt they treat their women and girls that way too, the boys are probably trained early on how to mistreat the horses and think that women are lesser than them.
Thank you for the updates, Julie! Sorry about Opal though. Thankfully, she will pass surrounded by your love and will be free of pain. Welcome to all the newbies. You are the lucky ones. Congrats on getting to 100. I recommend seeing all your posts to everyone. You have come a long way, Fletcher Farms.
I have lots of trouble with my eyes and, believe me, it is VERY painful! So I wouldn’t wait too long. When my eyes act up it is excruciating and I feel like doing NOTHING. Please give her hugs, but then let her go.
Not all the Amish treat their animals badly. I think it’s good to keep that in mind, even as rescue of these Belgians is going on. Thank you, Julie and everyone, for reducing suffering in this world.
@user-wk1mw9nj3i76 In the amish sect/ cult/? a lot of "stuff" happens.. ! Goodness…how many tons did the Trailer weigh 😮, I am always tearing up for joy when you see them arriving home looking baffled but relieved…they know they are safe….may God bless you in abundance….much love from Germany ❤
Thank you so very much for saving these beautiful souls. Why do so many amish belgians have a missing eye? Is this done on purpose? To see a pasture full of saved belgians is so cool! Thank you for taking Opal and showing her the love all horses should be shown.
At last Opal will get the very best care she so deserve with plenty of love for our long she has...God bless you for rescing these gorgeous horses...Great life they will have, Love and very best care they so deserve. THANKYOU.❤❤❤❤❤❤
What you are doing for the horses is so amazing.❤ But every time I watch your videos I'm totally blown away. You must have a lot of acreage. Can't imagine the money it takes to care for all of them. I have one horse and have my hands full. So again God Bless you and your husband for doing all that you do. What about the regular black horse you got? Can you please show some videos on that.
So glad Opal will have quality of life surrounded by love. Positive vibes going out to her and to all of you at Fletcher Farms. I will share this vlog with my FB friends and its a sin what the Amish do to their horses and then dumping them at the kill pen in poor condition. I just ordered a painting by Opal. Will be a cherished remembrance of Opal. For now she has quality of care and as much time as is possible.
Aww poor Opal 😢, it’s so sad that she wasn’t treated earlier, she’s in safe hands now, same as the other five precious ones, Julie the herd is looking absolutely amazing, each one of them is beautiful, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
