    What makes this channel stand out over other cooking channels for me is how accessible Aaron makes his recipes for the average, everyday home cook. Many recipes require harder to obtain ingredients which puts most people off even trying to replicate his dishes but Aaron (almost) always will suggest much more practical and obtainable alternatives which always result in delicious looking food and Claires reviews are testament to their quality.

    I wish Aaron was around when I was just learning how to cook. This guy is just so good for people starting to learn.
    This is actually a pretty complicated dish for a new chef to make, but Aaron does a great job at guiding people, and encouraging them to do their best. I also really appreciate how accessible he makes his recipes.

    • @Activated_Complex
      @Activated_Complex 3 роки тому +5

      In the meantime, look up some easy onsen tamago (hot spring egg) recipes. They’re very simple, requiring precision mainly in the volume of hot and cold water for the specified number of eggs. You can remove some uncertainty around the temperature of the cold water by finding a recipe that calls for adding actual ice water. Or room-temperature water that has been allowed to stand. Or by using a thermometer.

    • @luci4087

    Aaron and Claire, thank you for this recipe- it was delicious! I made this dish today, 11/20/2021, for my family. I wish I could attach a picture of our bowls! It was for six people, so I had to triple up on the ingredients. I could not find chili oil, but I used sesame oil and stirred in a garlic chili sauce instead. I also substituted the soy milk with almond milk but did have to add a little corn starch to give it a bit of body (which is not ideal). I am allergic to peanuts and bought Barney's smooth almond butter, no added sugar or salt, but I didn't use it. I used the creamy Tahini instead. I also added sushi ginger slices as a garnish on top of the minced chicken (substituted for pork)- it added a nice flavor. Finally, I found a nice bottle of Gekkeikan Sake that was just wonderful!
    I forgot to purchase almond slices (substitute for peanuts), and my son is a vegetarian, so I substituted his meat with plant-based ground beef, which my son enjoyed; he said it tasted like meat! I used packaged pad thai noodles as my choice of noodles. I did not want the broth to be salty and was lucky to find a salt-free chicken powder. Oh, I also added Brussel sprouts! I boiled those for about 10 minutes. I spent $97 at my local grocery store for the ingredients- divided by 6, which is $16 per bowl- not bad considering I would only have to purchase the ground chicken, chili paste, and veggies the next time I make this dish. Thank you for sharing! Since the pandemic, we've not eaten out at our favorite ramen restaurant, and it felt nice to sit together over a homemade bowl that tasted just as good or even better!

    My mouth is watering watching this video. When I can't find sesame paste I toast about 6 tablespoons of sesame seeds then pop them into a coffee grinder which turns it into paste and works well. I always make your sesame dipping sauce that way. Delicious !

    Thank you so much for the amazing recipe! I made a vegan version of this today using vegan shin ramyun.
    I followed the recipe for the minced meat and the tare using vegan "meat", vegetarian oyster sauce and tahin but left out the chili oil in the tare. I then cooked the noodles and veggies according to the packaging and made the broth replacing the chicken stock with the seasoning powder
    It was so delicious, especially with the flavourful "pork"!

    This tantanmen recipe is the bomb 👍 I made very little accommodations: I used less chili oil to cook the meat (Half tbsp chili oil, half tbsp peanut oil), and only half tbsp chili oil in the tare. Aaron said you can use Tsuyu (for tare) so I did. 2 tbsp of 3x concentrate Tsuyu. Very tasty! Everything was well seasoned, not too salty and not bland. 10/10!

    Hello from Michigan! I really enjoy your channel very much and have tried several recipes. I went into my grocery store and forgot bok choy and bean sprouts & to look for the chili paste or oil. 🤔 but I remembered the green onions at least. So I used tahini and sambal olek instead. And marinated veggies leftover from a Thai dish I made earlier since I had no other fresh veggies. Very tasty still.

    Very good recipe! I was a bit lazy and combined bok choi and the meat, fried according to the recipe, directly with a ready-made noodle soup. And instead of minced meat, I have diced "breakfast meat" (that's what spam is called in Germany!). Really delicious! I didn't expect how crispy and aromatic the meat would be.
