This song provides a perfect outlet for my rage as a survivor, I usually fall back to my faves Rammstein to deal with overwhelming rage or sadness, they always helped me transform those feelings to a bearable level. Bloodywood went to next level with Dana Dan, specifically targeting this topic and they managed to capture and express it incredibly accurately, as well as providing the comfort that they stand with you for real, not just nice words but a visceral cry to arms. Yet also providing a way forward for people who truly regret their actions as well because while I personally struggle to forgive, they understand how important it is to help these kind of people too and galvanise them into action as well. What a brilliant, brilliant band. 🖤

@@jackg.1683 Thank you for your thoughtful comment, I really appreciate it. Apologies that this will be a long winded reply as I'm still processing this personally and feeling quite conflicted (I have just been to that Lithuanian gig of theirs where the OP had her experience and about to go to Portugal in a couple of weeks to see them again with my bff).
Basically, what do you do when your fave turns out to be problematic?
How do you square the incredibly important impact their art had on you, your life, your actual survival over the years versus this realisation that a person behind it has problems/did bad shit?
TL;DR: I am still processing my thoughts. It's complicated for me and it's ok if some people feel immediate need to drop them, however it's not as simple for people like me to process that and to come to some sort of conclusion for myself. That said, Row 0 shit and dodgy afterparties need to stop yesterday.
Also TW: my thoughts may be triggering so please use your judgement when proceeding to read further as a SA survivor myself, I am already quite uncomfortable with this but also it's part of my process to write things out to figure it out.
In cases like with M*rlyn M*ns*on or Arm*e H*mmer, it's much more clear cut.
In this case (and in many other older gen musician cases, including David Bowie for example, yes, him too), it's not as clear cut as perhaps we would like it to be. Groupie stuff always made me feel a bit iffy and "back in the day" so to speak the perception of consent as such wasn't really present or debated as much as it is now, post MeToo era and in the internet and mobile phone with camera age. It's good that we are more informed on that because I genuinely would never have figured out what happened to me personally in uni was actually very wrong. But hindsight is always 20/20, isn't it?
I became aware of the Row 0 thing probably back around 12 years ago or so and remember trying to dress up going to one of their gigs hoping at the time I may be spotted/chosen, that never happened and maybe it's a bullet dodged, maybe not (genuinely thought it was how you as a fan could get to meet them and whatever tools in my meagre arsenal I could use, I would haha). Then later when I realised Row 0 thing was still happening, had a vague thought that it's not a great look but ok, it's a groupie thing and didn't really think more on that.
I haven't checked their official community forum bc you need to pay subscription fee to get access and I only ever paid it to get pre-sale access to gigs a couple times, first time round I tried to be involved in the forum but when membership expired, I didn't have spare cash at the time and never really went back into it (that's actually how I became aware of Row 0 thing, through that forum). So I am not a heavily involved fan who's up to date on all things behind the scenes.
Ignorance is not an excuse of course, however I am just trying here to pull together my thoughts and show why it is complicated for me personally.
      Here's what I think:
      1) Row 0 while an iffy concept overall, same for afterparties, if ppl are consenting and of age, fine by me.
      2) However, this seems to have evolved from that concept and pushed into the grey area (or even past it) by some enabling people around TL (who to his credit at least seemed in the OP's situation while angry about being misled by the person who "arranged it" that OP consented, he didn't do anything else apart from airing his frustration at the time - I have read up all her posts last week and the reddit threads accordingly but haven't caught up with the latest this week as I was busy).
      3) The drinks situation in the afterparties while could be dodgy, also not too concerning in my opinion if everyone present are of age and are not drunk past the point of oblivion (I do get both the peer pressure and the power imbalance in play when someone you admire or someone in their entourage offers you drinks, it takes a strong will to refuse, been there myself a lot until I managed to learn better). If however people have been plied with drinks on purpose until they can't consent or aren't even aware, that's a hard NOPE which also leads me to my next point.
      4) If the spiking of the drinks was happening, that is immediately crossing over from the "grey territory" to absolutely effing NOT. That is very much a huge issue and needs to be stopped immediately but only the management and the band can do that as it's so difficult to get physical evidence of rohypnol because it leaves the system so quickly and it's been a known issue since basically it started being used that way and that is why it's so popular with assailants/r*p*sts. I remember when my friend's drink got spiked when we were both dancing in the club and I am so glad I was there with her and could take her outside and put her in the cab to return safely, that was a scary situation that, if I had my drink too that night with her or sipped from her glass, could've turned to a horror scenario very easily.
      5) I try also to reserve my judgement of the whole situation a bit only because judging things based on purely what's on internet and even in the media also is not a great thing to do, however Row 0 shit and afterparties need to stop without question. I just have been burnt a lot when stuff goes viral on internet and I make snap judgement and then the whole thing is turned on its head again, I'm sure a lot of people have been in my shoes. So proceeding with caution is always a good thing in my books at least.
      6) Once again, I return here to the point of what do you do when your fave turns out to be problematic? I don't talk about the proven horrendous cases like Polanski or Allen or H*mmer or MM or D*pp even. For a long time I couldn't listen to Bowie too after reading about that case. I also remember being so elated to have seen Kevin Sp*cey live on stage in London twice and being bowled over by his incredible talent and then. And then.
      7) I refuse to accept the lyrics are directly related to anything here however, like some people seem to fixate upon.
So I don't know yet how I feel about this and the story isn't over yet either it seems. However, people are capable of holding more than one complex thing in their heads and approach it and question it and make decisions if need be. Yes, some people will always be in denial about their faves because they cannot do any wrong (I mean, a lot of HP fans? MM fans? Etc?), some people will drop their faves immediately on even a whiff of wrongdoing but you cannot underestimate how many people are there like me who are conflicted at least at this point in time, with this amount of information available. And it's ok to feel conflicted, I'd rather be that than in denial or completely ignorant. There is something rotten in the state of Denmark for sure, regardless how the story turns out, and the rot needs cutting out otherwise it will spread to the whole thing.
I know I will have a bad taste in my mouth during the gig in Lisbon and regret that another fave turns out to be problematic. Just how problematic and how it's dealt with, will inform my further thoughts and decisions but this is how I feel now.
Just hope that my beloved Sparks and Bloodywood remain non problematic and I can just freely enjoy their stuff for years to come. 🖤
Post Script: As Bloodywood in Dana Dan say, they (R+) better join the fight. That's also what I picked up especially that they make space for people who while have strayed from the path, they can come back and join in. So my hope is that R+ and TL specifically do.

Each of their songs has an important message: Gaddaar is about religion and politics and its intermingling, Aaj is about self empowerment, and Machi Bhasad is also about bringing political revolution in today's generation, and one of their best songs imo "Jee Veerey" is about mental health. I think all of their songs are spectacular within the metal scene and while they deserve a reaction, you should just listen to their songs at least once.

I found Bloodywood when I heard "Yaad" for the first time. It was a week after my family dog passed away.
      (TLDR)
I had a past working in the funeral business and considered myself, at 36, to be a fairly hardened man due to the gravity and gore of the things I witnessed, and the pain I heard from the bereaved while employed in that field.
This song broke me at first but also helped me get through it. Loss is an inevitable part of life. Embracing your grief and learning how to accept it ,no matter how much it hurts, is the only way to get through it and move on while appreciating what you had.
      Much love to this band.

I've seen a few SA survivors react to this video at this point, and it's just amazing to see how far the message of solidarity serves to impact people who have suffered. I know the loneliness of being stalked on night shift at your workplace, so while it's not quite the same experience, Dana Dan heals a little piece of me every time I hear it.
Such a powerful song, it gives me so much energy. If I ever move to defend someone from harm, I know this song will be in my head when I do, giving me the strength to act.

First off, great reaction! I could definitely see your "shadow" in the expression on your face. I am a 51 year old man who has never struck anyone in anger. I think in the vast majority of cases violence is not the answer. Unfortunately, if you are not speaking a language (violence) the assailant understands, you will not get your message across. The "shadow" in me would take over if I found out who sexually assaulted one of my loved ones. They would likely be wishing for death before I stopped. I would pay my debt to society for my actions with a clear conscience.

Sadly, as an adult woman I can honestly say that every single adult woman I know (and have discussed this topic with) has been a victim of some form or degree of sexual assault. I am willing to bet that, if polled, almost 100% of adult women would unfortunately be able to claim sexual abuse in some capacity... and that's American women. I'd argue it's even worse in some other countries.
I'm grateful to bands like Bloodywood for calling out this behavior and holding men to account for getting it to stop.

I remember when this song came out and I got into a bit of an argument with some guy who wanted to moan about women. I mean, is this the right place to come out with that? @@AGDinCA This song seemed to mean a lot to both women and men who have been through this. I haven't been through such an experience myself but the song was like a rallying cry. Not all men, yes all men. Amanda mentioned evil thriving when good people do nothing. It's not OK that this happens and I don't want to be a bystander. I'm probably not going to make anyone taste my boot but I hear this song when I read some of the misogynist comments on UA-cam, and while I'm calmly explaining why I disagree with their opinion. The line in the chorus about an "apparent saint" becoming a demon in private "behind the curtain" really resonated with me. I grew up Mormon and just like the Catholic church, there are more and more sexual abuse stories (especially against children) that are coming to light. I don't care what you believe, please PLEASE just take care of your kids. Don't trust people just because they're part of your church, especially if your church doesn't have basic safeguards in place to try to prevent abuse. Some things to check are for rules that no child or group of children are ever alone in a room with an adult, open door policies, and anyone working with kids have passed background checks (all of which, BTW, the Mormon church does NOT do).
There are amazing people out there who love kids and want to work with them either professionally or through volunteering including church settings. But there are also those who are predators of children who are drawn to those same spaces to get access to them.
ETA: some of these basic safeguards are in place through the Mormon church but only when an outside organization is involved like Boy Scouts that requires them.

I could be wrong as Hinduism is a really complex religion that I am a bit less familiar with than most other world religions, but I am fairly sure that the woman in blue paint draws some parallels with the goddes Kali. If I understand correctly, Kali is a goddess of destruction but not in an evil way. She's seen as one who purges the evil and filth from the world, she's the cold hearted side of justice. If my understanding is correct, that's a powerful symbol for this video.

If you’re looking for other songs to react to, there’s a song by Protest the Hero called “Plato’s Tripartite” that touches on sexual assault. Particularly about how when we (as a society) keep giving abusers a slap on the wrist for their crimes then we (again, as a society) are all directly to blame for the crimes when they’re perpetuated. The band is a progressive metal band and a lot of their other songs are probably worth reacting to as well but that one comes to mind at the moment. Thanks for reading!

Hey Amanda! Hopefully your mental Health journy is going well today! I really enjoyed your style of reacting. I was more facinated by your reactions than the actual video lol! I was touched so much that I would like to share a repeating dream that I had back when I was 8-12 years old.
The dream would always start on a clear sunny day with a lovely princess in a dress frolicking in an open feild full of flowers. She would skip around and sing to herself, enjoying the day, and at some point, she would have a wardrob malfunction. It was always her undergarments for some reason so her bra would snap or underwear would snap and fall. Then, the princess would get this emabrassing look on her face and cover herself up. She would call me over and I would show up as a knight with a suit and armour. I would ask whats wrong and she would look up to me and say, "Can you protect me while I fix this....situation." and I would respond "Yes Princess at Once!" and I would turn around with my sheild up looking for bad guys to stop. Nothing would really happen and after a few mins the princess would get up and walk over to me and say. "Thanks for Protecting me" and give a kiss on my cheek them start frolicking around in the field again. Thats when my dream normally ends.
I always remember waking up really happy from that dream, so I think that dream, is what started my deep love for romance and wanting to help women and be there for them to make them happy! I hope you enjoyed my dream and best wishes to you! :)

The girl in blue represents the Hindu goddess Kali. Kali is the Hindu goddess of death and rebirth, she expresses the dual nature of the destruction that must come before new beginnings, and of the strength of the female power which can sometimes do what the man cannot. Also the chorus is a popular Hindi phrase/idiom "laaton ke bhoot baaton se nahi mante" which translates to something like people who only understand the language of kicks will never understand the language of words.

I really appreciate (among other things) your good knowing and correct real understanding symbolistic meaning of all those many sides and aspects of Hindu deity Kali AND also your view and saying of so called feminist movement which unfortunately isn´t really that power-full in approach and sincere in aims etc. that it could be (and that´s why I do not want to call myself as such even of course I´m very very much into equality and freedom of all of kind people and so on).
And of course Bloodywood´s sound kicks some serious, metaphorical and literal, ass in this song too = Just pure WOW!!

As always, such wise words Amanda.
It makes me sick to ever see a guy try to overpower a women just because they are more powerful, physically.
Women have to put up with more through life, than guys have to do, ever.
It must be scary as hell, but I would never assume to understand.
Even after my ex wife hit me, I couldn't never hit back. Just how I was brought up.
But, not all guys are like those in the track, there are some who would just protect the vulnerable out there :)
    Take care. Happy holidays!

Hey Amanda. I was wondering when you were going to get to this one.
I have been thinking a lot about this song for quite some time -- particularly from a moral or ethical view. And I come to the conclusion that first, attention does need to be brought to this. The apathetic acceptance of this needs to change. As Edmund Burke once said, "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph in the world is for good men to do nothing." I've taken to add a quote from a Magic: the Gathering card as well to that as a corollary: "I hold those who commit evil, and those who do nothing to stop it, equally in contempt."
That being said, first, if I were to ever come across anyone committing r**e or SA, I would do what I could to stop the act. And I think most people would. On the other hand, there is the risk, as we've seen, where someone can say or do something where they don't have all the facts, they form a mob, and then go out and commit vigilantism. And that can be just as bad, as people who act as a vigilante may not have the control necessary to stop, once they begin, and they can also target someone who is completely innocent. Even in the 1800s, this was something that was more common than people thought (As a reference, watch the movie Gangs of New York. It shows vigilante behavior towards the end of the movie.)
And while I understand the need to dispense justice, there is a difference between justice and vengeance -- one that I know very, very well. I know that feeling that because someone caused you pain, you feel the need to cause an equal amount of pain to the person that hurt you. And causing that pain isn't justice, that's vengeance. Justice is objective, it is impartial. Vengeance is subjective, and it is personal. Many people would, I think, if they could exact vengeance upon someone that caused them pain, would use vengeance as a carte blanche means to go much further than the degree of pain caused them. This is why in many cultures, the scale is the object used to determine justice, because the punishment must fit the crime. Otherwise, vengeance becomes unjust. This is also why, even for r**ists and other criminals, due process is so important. This is why the presumption of innocence over guilt is so important. Do I want criminals, especially those who commit heinous crimes, punished? Most certainly yes. But I also do not want innocent people punished for something they did not do. And I think, especially in the age of the internet, people too often hear or see something that riles them up, and then they go commit other crimes in retaliation for something they were never a part of. This happened with Michael Brown in 2014, and then happened with George Floyd in 2020. In both cases, mobs got formed, and then went on a destructive spree of vengeance and destroyed buildings and businesses that had nothing to do with the act in question. And especially in the case of Michael Brown, the anger and rage at the cop was misplaced, as the narrative surrounding that case was severely pushed by the media -- and during Grand Jury testimony, the facts, evidence, and 6 black witness statements all showed that the media narrative was wrong. Michael Brown did not die because he was unarmed and got shot in the back. He died because he was fighting with Officer Darren Wilson over his service weapon, while Wilson was still in his cruiser. A shot richocheted off the cruiser's A-pillar (the part of the car that has the edge of the windshield and is an angle the door of the car follows to firm a proper weathertight seal). The bullet then killed Michael Brown by entering the top of his head. All of this was based on ballistics and autopsy reporting by the M.E. Yet, the narrative pushed was, "Hands Up, Don't Shoot," and Ferguson, Missouri burned for at least two weeks.
I say all of this because this subject is so raw, emotionally, and so visceral. Does it need to be stopped, these acts of violence? Yes. But not at the cost where innocent people get hurt. And, every person deserves to have their voice heard, even the criminals, at their trial in court. And if the facts are clear, the evidence is beyond a clear and convincing standard, then punishment for these crimes needs to be to the fullest extent of the law. Only then can we say we live in a just society.
Lastly, I will say that those who victimize others in this way only understand one thing: Force. Knowing this is why it is so important to stand up and speak out about it, but at the same time, if force is to be used to stop an act of r**e or SA, then one can't hesitate or half-ass it, so to speak. If force is to be used, it has to be used in such a way as to leave no doubt about the intention to stop such an act, and if the perpetrator won't stop, be willing to escalate it to the point where they do stop.
And if that escalation of force turns lethal, because the perpetrator won't stop, people cannot have any qualms about using lethal force. I'm also of the mindset that the only punishment for these kinds of inhumane acts is capitol punishment, as anything less than capitol punishment is unjust and inhumane in and of itself. Because these kinds of offenses are the kind of line in society that society should not tolerate being crossed -- especially if children are the victims, as I was.
As for the song, I have said that Jayant, the screamer, sounds as if he knows someone personally who has been hurt and victimized in this way. And his screams are the pure, unadulterated, screams of anger and rage. And as he screams out to the heavens for Kali's blessing, Kali herself comes down to exact vengeance upon the offenders at them hurting and victimizing an innocent. And while I am not Indian, if I ever found anyone hurting someone in that manner, Kali help them that the cops get to the perpetrator before I do, and especially if an incident involved my young niece or nephews.

I define R***ists as cowards and to quote Shakespeare; Cowards die a thousand times before their deaths; brave men die only once.
Even some of the most hardened criminals hate when women and children are subjected to abuse like that and while vengeance and revenge should not be condoned as the precedent, I always say that objectively I do not agree with vigilantes, but personally, I do. The law is meant to be grey; fair. As a comment I saw below said, Justice is fair, vengeance is personal.

My older sister was was raped by 4 "Christian" pastors when she was a little girl I didn't even understand the cloud that hung over my family for over 40 years, Wasn't even born when this happened but it affected my entire life. When I finally found out about the thing that destroyed my family, all the people that did this to her and ultimately us as a family were all dead. When I finally understood that my preacher father let his 4 year old daughter get gang raped by his preacher buddies and didn't say shit much less do anything. I had to live until I was 16 with people I could not entrust with my personal safety. Christians....Maybe you think you can absolve your wrongdoing by confessing your sins. Here's a little real world for you, don't be a douchebag. Confessing to destroying little kids might make you feel better, but those kids are still messed up.
