    Small hatchbacks seem to have lost their place among crossover SUVs. But while they are no longer the most popular type of vehicle, there still is a market for small, inexpensive cars. The Chevrolet Spark 2021 is among the last of these types of cars and is one of the least expensive new cars that you can buy.
    Under the very short hood of the Chevy Spark is a 1.4L naturally aspirated engine. It doesn’t produce 100 hp, not even 99 hp. 98 hp (73 kW) is all you get to play with along with 94 lb-ft (127 Nm) of torque. But with a car that only tips the scales at 1,049 kg as this demo vehicle is equipped, the power & torque make it feel quite peppy.
    Another great benefit to being so light & having a naturally aspirated engine is fuel economy. With the equipped CVT automatic, the 2021 Chevrolet Spark can achieve 7.7 L/100km (30.5 MPG) in a city and 6.2 L/100km (37.9 MPG) on a highway.
    The least expensive LS trim of the Chevy Spark 2021 does not have convenience features like power windows, power locks, power mirrors, air conditioning or cruise control. It’s as basic as a car can get which is why it is one of the least expensive new cars in North America at just $10,200 CAD ($13,400 USD).

    I took my mom car shopping today. We test drove several different cars in the $19,000 range Ford , Buick and Chevy and then the spark. She ended up buying the spark for less than $14,000 It was perfect for her. She literally is the little widow woman driving to church and the beauty salon. I drove it and was pleasantly surprised by it.

    It’s absolutely wonderful car here in south Texas where it’s flat. It’s flat everywhere and it’s hot. I’ve got a white one. It gets me to the market. It gets me to the ocean. It gets me everywhere I want to go. It has great gas mileage. It’s quiet it’s comfortable it runs wonderfully in the heat. It runs wonderfully in the winter. It has amazing air conditioning. I just bought the 2021, cayenne orange. Also, has the 5 speed manual transmission. I absolutely love it. It's my second one. The fuel economy is great. I'm 6ft and it's comfortable. I'm a mechanic and I was pleased with the engine. The timing chain it has is a lot more durable than the timing belt. Definitely worth getting for the price.

      @@hiyathere599 I can't comment on thier vehicle, but I can comment on mine. Mine does NOT have anti-lock brakes. I theory, the brakes work REALLY well. Almost stronger than what the car is, in weight. What I mean is, above 30 mph, in the rain, I don't have to do much braking, for the car to be overwhelmed in suspension, under braking, and is uncontrollably sliding. The brakes are almost too powerful, for the weight of the car. This car,as much as I love it for its control reliability, scares the hell out of me, in the rain, but again, I have the basic, non anti-lock brake version. Probably don't want to use it above 30 mph conditions, without anti-lock brakes option.

      @gregnixon1296 Рік тому

      I read in one review that you can fold the rear seats flat by removing the back seats completely. You do this by squeezing the bars together that are on the underside of the cushion. Also, take off the headrests. Lot of work, but it meets the objective.

  • @frynxillyle247
    @frynxillyle247 3 роки тому +2

    How tall are you? Do you think if the rear seats were changed to regular seat instead of having a cup holder, will it fit 3 medium sized adults? Around 5'8 maybe?

    • @MGReviewsBlog

      I am 6'4" so I am above average in height. If someone shorter than me sits in the front, then more space will be available in the back. But the Spark is not a 5 passenger car. That center cup holder & tray in the back is permanent so only 2 people can sit in the back.

    As the owner of a 2021 manual Spark, Chevy really should have had an option for a turbo. It’s so much fun on windy country roads. But 98 hp is just a bit underwhelming. 150 hp would have been perfect. But you have to REALLY have to string out that engine to have any fun. Once the warranty expires I plan on turboing mine.

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  3 роки тому +1

      They did have a turbo version. The Sonic had a 1.4L turbo engine, 138 hp & 148 lb-ft & a 6-speed. Granted the Sonic was quite a bit heavier than the Spark. But good luck on your build & thanks for watching!

      Turbo charge and add nitro too and you can hit 200hp in bursts. You’ll actually hit 200mph . Ohh yes and if that thing so much as hits a pebble at those speeds it’s game over. But it’s one fun ride, it’s like a motorcycle because it’s so exposed. Just avoid semi trucks they can’t see you.

    • @shiroshine7227
      @shiroshine7227 7 місяців тому

      The do have a turbo one in the Sonic. STAY FAR AWAY FROM IT. Mine died at 100k and has had issues since I got it. These little engines can't take it they blow coolent and oil. This engine is perfect in a lighter car (the spark is 600lb lighter) and not turbocharged.
