Hi I’m thinking about joining the Air Force and I would love you to make a video where you describe the culture of your job specifically! Basically what you are required to do and a daily basis
Hi! I’m leaving for BMT in two months, and I got this job. I’m super excited, but also nervous, and was wondering if I should study anatomy or EMT stuff before I leave? I’ve heard a lot of people say how hard it is, especially the EMT course..
Yay!! Excited for you! Stay focused, do what you’re told and you’ll be fine 😀 as far as studying, I wouldn’t worry too much about that right now. Focus on getting through basic and you’ll be taught everything you need during technical schooling. As long as you study during your schooling I am positive you will succeed! (The course is challenging but is 100% possible) Good luck!!
Being someone who does not come from a military background or family, this information was all new to me when joining. I’m glad this information was a refresher for you!
Great question! So this is definitely not a gender specific job. I would say if you are interested in health and patient care, go for it. I work with both men and women daily.
You’re welcome! I bought a asvab book for dummies, I spent time at the library just using their resources and I used online tools to do practice tests and learn how to navigate the actual test! I also knew my weak spots and was able to focus on those which helped.
I work with mostly moms! Fortunately our unit is super flexible for kids/ family and leadership understands when things pop up. I also have set hours in a clinic but there’s also a chance you could be working in an ER doing 12 hour shifts.
My husband did not go with me. He was able to visit though. I do know people with families who had them move close to were tech school was but this is a very intense/ focus time and I would recommend as little distractions as possible! It’s only for a short period and will be worth it.
I'm shipping August too, Aug. 10, 2021 and I got this job! I'm graduating with associates in physics and mathematics in bout two weeks. Havent done a course in biology or any medical field courses except maybe chemistry 101 and 102 or high school biology which I took in 9th grade, so I'm like curious on how I'm gonna fare 😂 Edit: Got 93 on the asvab failed horribly on the autoshop section of the mechanical coz I know none of that sht, I was looking for something related to my major but most of them are for us citizens :/ so they gave me this while I wait 🤣
Awesome!! Congrats to you! As long as you study, they will provide you all the material needed to pass. Don’t stress it and just do your best, good luck!!
I’ve thought of joining the AF. But mainly either the AFR or the ANG. Were you able to pick your job before you went to BMT since you’re active? How long were you in tech school for as well?
I went in open general and picked my job in basic training. If there’s a job you definitely want, I would recommend securing it before leaving, I definitely got lucky getting what I wanted! Also, it’s harder to go active duty to reserves than vice versa. All options have benefits, just depends on your life style and what you want out of the military!
@@thesilvas1126 Hey there! Thanks for the reply. Were most of the people in your flight as well as tech school active, or were there some in the guard and reserve as well?
@@thesilvas1126 If I choose to join active, I’ll likely make it really clear with the recruiter that I want to pick a job I really want before I go to BMT. I also have been told to not pick a job just because it has a good enlistment bonus and to also NOT let the recruiter screw me over with a job or contract I have no interest in and to NOT let them ship me out without a job lined up ahead of time.
I went in open general and got my job middle of basic. Risky doing it that way because nothing is guaranteed but I got very lucky getting what I wanted!
I’m not sure! I don’t know much about anything other than active duty :/ sorry! I would suggest reaching out to your local recruiter for more information.
Would you say that this job is focused more on nursing? I would like to be doing paramedic work, but I see a lot of people work in settings where they do a lot of nursing/medical assistant work.
From my experience in this job so far, it is not focused on nursing. It also depends where you work. You could work in a clinic or hospital such as an ER, ICU, etc., it is more of a technician position where you’re always assisting a doctor, PA, NP. Also, needs of the Air Force will decide what setting you start in. It’s a very broad AFSC and there are a lot of options as far as what we can do as special duties relating to medical as well to get you closer to your end goal. I hope this helps and makes sense! Good luck!
If you are married or have a family you can have one right away after technical training school. If you are single, you have to wait and live in the dorms until you rank up to senior airman, E4.
Not true at all. Tech school will teach you everything you need to know! If you want this job specifically I would secure it before you go into basic if you can! Don’t let the recruiter talk to you into open general :)
So tech school is 2 phases (in classroom for about 4 months and hands-on for 6 weeks) if you’re already EMT you won’t have to do the classroom portion.
Mods were definitely challenging for me. Be careful of the wording on the test, read each question carefully and study key points and take good notes in class! Reading the text and highlighting helped me.
Would u recommend going in before getting ur first 4 years of college or would u do after 4 years. My daughter wants to be an anesthesiologist, but she wants to possibly go in after high school. Please let me know, thank ya!
From my experience, I think college first is a better option because once you’re in it’s your career and too many young Airman don’t realize that. Also take into consideration if you do college first, you will be paying for it instead of the military paying for it. But, college was a great experience and I wouldn’t change the way I did it! (College first than military) hope that helps and good luck to your daughter!!
If she wants to be an anesthesiologist she should look into HPSP!! She would do her 4 years of college first, be accepted into med school, then apply for HPSP and enlist. Air Force will pay and put her through med school in return for her being an anesthesiologist for the Air Force for 4 years after med school I believe - do some research it’s a good opportunity
I would focus on just preparing mentally/physically and learning about the Air Force ranks/ culture. You can definitely look at EMT books but I wouldn’t get yourself confused because they will give you everything you need to succeed their courses as far as study material once you’re in!
@@thesilvas1126 thank you!!…I’m just nervous because in school I wasn’t the biggest book worm i just don’t wanna get washed backed or anything. I really wanna excel in this job🙏🏾

I have a question. Does the Air Force will give my civilian husband a job if we are in another country?
He can apply for a job anywhere as a civilian! The Air Force won’t just give him a job.
Good day @The Silvas, I wish to know if this job is only recommended for ladies or can gentlemen also go for this job?
