My friends and I used to rewatch this scene over and over again when we were about 15 when it first aired on TV. We loved everything about the scene, the comedy, the music and the way it goes on for so long. Classicness.
Agreed! Much of my music collection is thanks to this show! And who else but Paul Haggis would have thought to put a beautiful song like this to a CAR CHASE? That's why this is one of my all-time favorite shows!
My favourite scene in all of DS. Love the action, love the music, love to see Ray as the fearless action hero for once! And uh, if there were any crashes, it would've been awful damned hard to advance the plot....
After this show went off the air I bought a 72 Buick Riviera Boat tail exactly same color as the one in the show. I bought it at the junkyard I was working at for $200.00 not knowing if it ran or not. I got a great deal on a great running awesome ride. I miss that ride. I always thought it was a cross between an old school Corvette and a Cadillac.

Due South has a few of my favourite car chases. The choreographing, the continuity (most sequences feel like they were done in one long take, and not as a cut-restart-edit), the music (emotional, contemplative, desperate), the near misses that create near misses (and not the sudden pile up-every car but the suspect gets wrecked), and the fact that "unnamed" cruisers are involved as a major part in the chases (and not as crash bait).
This is why I love UA-cam. Saw an episode of Due South on tv for the first time in like forever, having almost completely forgotten about the show. Then, the memory of this scene popped into my head and I wondered if someone would have uploaded it to UA-cam. Sure enough......
I believe some of this was filmed in what is now the revamped distillery district of Toronto. And you can also see the CN Tower several times in this scene.
As a connoisseur of car chases, I rate this a 6/10, and recommend *Metallica - Trapped Under Ice (instrumental version)* as soundtrack for it. Every car chase is made superior via the inclusion of '70s land-yachts; love me a 3rd gen Riviera.
Music in this scene sucks. It would have been better with no music. Just hearing the sounds of the cars doing drifts and crashing into things would be greatly amazing as no one has done that in a long time.
@@JimmyReece95 cheers do you know if they are old 70's Doge charger expensive or a hidden gem yet to go up in classic car elites money?, always wanted one, old American car's are quite popular here in Scandinavia and I have yet to see one past all the Mustangs and bel air's
Bjørn again Christian I don’t think they’re as popular or as rare as Chargers. Once I found out what it was myself I’ve seen more and more of them. I’m sure they’re not cheap but I wouldn’t think they are charger or mustang price

Nice detail I love, once Fraser gets out, Bob's not in the car with Ray when the Buick drives off.
Gotta say, Ray is one hell of a driver. Wheelman's got one goal; get away. Ray's also got to look out for the public AND catch his perp.
