Legend has it, that green Beetle is still rolling down the hill.
Those VW's Beatle's were all over the streets like locust back in the 1960s and 70s.
@@felixmadison5736 Bullitt 1968, Alcatraz 2012, Fast N’ Loud 2022 Lets keep the Tradition bring car chases to SanFrancisco
@@felixmadison5736 could have use a the 98 VW Beatle to keep in modern
@@cliffcosynerflight5253 I'll bet there are people who can't tell the difference between an old Beetle and a 'new' Beetle. They were great little cars. I purchased a used one back in the 1970s just before my late wife and I took our kids to see 'Herbie, the Love Bug' at the local drive in theater.
I wondered if they used it multiple shots like the original. Pretty sure they pass that beetle like 3 times at different parts of the chase.
You left one vital piece out of the chase . The 6 hubcaps the Charger lost 😂
The new one had one piece rims ....
That Challenger wasn’t even built back then. As a Mustang enthusiast that challenger would have left that Mustang in the dust.
Just saying.
@@francescogreco7678 Not an accurate recreation ...
@@ObeijinThat’s the joke bud
@@francescogreco7678Back when they were filming this chase for the film, they had to reshoot several scenes of the chase because Bill Hickman would leave the Mustang in the dust in the Charger R/T. It was just so much more powerful. The Mustang was far more nimble in the corners though.
There is nothing like the original chase❤❤❤
Amen
Steve McQueen RIP AND RESPECT. But this re-created chase was really really tame...
Plus, they should've used a modern day Ford Mustang. It would have been much smarter.
@@benjaminlutz5075 Why, the new Mustang is crap. They should have used a '68 Charger....

Beautiful Tribute to the Beloved Steve McQueen, well done everyone.
RIP Steve McQueen 😭😭😭 🙏🙏🙏
I asked my mother the other day what it was like in her generation she said we had the best cars they lasted a long time We had the best era because we created it the way we wanted it and we had a lot of compassion love and freedom for everything. We loved one another. ❤️❤️
Classic cars were generally far less reliable than modern cars. As for the love people comment, again, that applies more to today than the 60s. Lots of wack jobs back in the 60s wouldn't even let my gay friend marry another adult for literally no reason.
The Vega and Pinto were not great cars. And let's not forget segregation and Vietnam.
Classic cars lasted longer and are more rigid and far less disposable than today's cars. And the ppl were far more sensible, caring common sense than today's society. I've noticed this growing up in the 70 & 80s. Today's generation is so traumatized by what gender they are. You can't even walk outside the comfort of your own home without offending anyone.
@@terryschnereger8531 Everything you just said was incorrect. The average lifespan of a new car in the 60s was less than 7 years on average. Meaning on average, you'd buy a brand new car, and it would be in a junkyard less than 7 years later. That's a statistical averaging tracking the average age of cars on the road. By comparison, 7 years is nothing for a modern car.
As for the comment on society being more compassionate, tell those people you're gay, or that you had depression, and watch them turn on you fast.
@@terryschnereger8531 Modern generations just want to have the freedom to live their lives. Being gay isn't a choice, basically every gay person will tell you that. Their attraction to same sex people is as natural as the attraction you and I have to the opposite sex. You can't force a gay person to become straight anymore than you can force a straight person to become gay.
Yet despite this, you had truly evil people deny them the right to be married, and be happy for no reason.
I went to the theater to watch this movie. When the chase scene came on I stayed to watch it again.
Darn, saw it double dating at the drive in. Buddy had dad's car, 65 impala 350. Pretty exciting drive home.
@@relic69 How did you see the movie through the steamy windows with double dating?
@@joe-hp4nk We had the back seat, windows open, legs flailing. Buddies date needed a paper towel.
No wonder he drove crazy
Was expecting a modern Bullitt mustang as well as the dodge, that would have been cool, but a classic mustang is always better anyways! Nice surprise 😃
Nice tribute, but why not with old Charger ? :)
There's none of them left 😂 so many movie used them they got destroyed like dukes of Hazzard, fast and furious, ghost rider, and several more
@@SHAWNGAMINGHD They sold about 200,000 of that 2nd gen body style Charger from '68-'70. You can find them listed all over the place, these guys were just lazy.
Absolutely the greatest car chase in cinematic history.
Nah, it's excellent, but "To Live and Die in LA" is the ultimate movie car chase.
Steve McQueen and his 1968 mustang 390 gt was a perfect marriage of man and a cool ride .... Long may steve McQueen be forever the king of cool respect to chad McQueen aswell 👍😁
chad mcqueen sounds like the name of a guy who will steal your girlfriend and smoke your cigarettes.

@@Tiffany.1970 yeah I know just always thought his name was funny.

That part at the end with Steve McQueen's son in the car makes me tear up. This is an awesome tribute.
An awesome tribute to one of the best chase scenes ever. Great job 👍
Fantastic job!!!
One little shot I think you forgot was the driver fastening his seatbelt.
Nice catch
They already had their seatbelts on, that's why. Back then, seatbelts were not required by law, so it was kinda the "only when you really need them" mentality.
They also dropped the scene of the passenger in the Challenger getting his gun out.
That little detail is very important, it lets the viewer know shits about to get real!
Very cool, but it just isnt the same without the Lalo Schifrin banger in the background.
A great tribute to The King of Cool. Thank you Richard and crew. That was f#%king AWESOME!!!!
I was sixteen when this came out and saw it more times than I can count.great job guys brought back memories
Great revival of the cult film Bullit, there was no boredom, there was no background music and of course the song "Mustang engine and good".
Dutch behind the wheel at the end looking just like pops!
I met Chad in Galway a few years ago, wonderful man and I just wish I could have met his dad
Sorry but Challenger is not a Charger , good car but not the same, after I saw this I stopped watching.
@Robert Gibbs Wha?
When I first saw this movie in the theatre I did not know but had the feeling of what struck me as so very important. That important part was when the driver of the 1968 charger looked at the passenger then clicked his seat belt. It's like seeing a gun shoot out and just before you see the thumb pull back the hammer.
Make sure to hit camera with charger😂
That was one of my favorite movies.
RIP Steve Q
Wonder why they didn’t use a 68 charger…great vid
They're rare
This is great! The green beetle is a nice nod to the original film! (Although they stuff up the continuity in the original movie and pass it twice!)
Just needed to toss some hubcaps out of the Dodge .
Such a big budget setup and it still looks like a highschool student film.
The green beetle!
“Guys give it up for the cars!”
Drivers: 😔
Steve McQueen with James hunt, the greatest.
You guys forgot the 7 times when the charger loses its hubcaps!!
Great! Love this...
Had a 65 Impala SS, 56 Belair and 72 Nova 434 Stroker.
Many people here love american v8, old an new...
Greets from germany
FANTASTIC This Recreate Scene For memory of LEGEND American men STEVE MCQUEEN For his Stuning unforgot chase in the Bulit 1968 Film with The Dark Green FORD MUSTANG 1968 390 CUBIC INCH Engine But with the SOUND OF THE 289 CUBIC INCH = K CODE ENGINE 271 HP !!! MCQUEEN Was EXCELLENT Races Driver in his La man races carier. Also very charming Actor and also good men !!! Again FANTASTIC
As I was a young men - I saw Bullit - I could not afford to buy Mustang my own: but it created an affection!
Today, I have one. Not the legendary 390 but 2019 model with manual gearbox.
This is a great re creation....
Well there is 10 minuted I’ll never get back.
2:34-2:51 is pretty much our reaction on that part of the chase scene
A few years ago , in Slator mo. They had Steve McQueen days , and there was loads of people and cars , and one car club had pictures of all the streets where they ran and they took there own cars and ran the streets early in the moring. With jumps and a real charger. Pretty cool. I don't think they have the festival any more, it's a shame what covid did, it was just cause he lived there on his uncles farm when he ended taming as a teenager.
The car that is the real Star in this film, is the Green VW Beetle.
They shouldve got a modern bullitt mustang
Nicely done. Guess there are no vintage Chargers left
None worth risking the damage
RIP Steve McQueen
Certainly put a smile on my face.
Should of used an old charger
If classic Charger prices weren't through the roof currently, it would be an old Charger. They were thrashed around and beaten to hell back in the 70s and 80s, not to mention the awful rust issues those cars were prone to. It's a shame that they weren't made very well. But I do agree, it's not the same.
They got used up by those Duke boys
Don't they have Charger look-a-likes that ride on Crown Vic frames? I think they do.
Awesome recreation! But, as someone else mentioned, this missed the absolute #1 cue which signified the beginning of the Chase, which was the buckling of the 1960's lap belt in the Charger. Might have added a bit of humor to buckle the three-point harness instead, or splice in an actual lap belt buckle🤷. Also, i was waiting for the Mustang reversing uncontrolled wheel hop at 6:39 and was dissapointed that that piece was shortened with no wheel hop. I grew up in that era, and those Mustangs without Traction Bars were notorious for wheel hop under uncontrolled acceleration. The smoky burnout by the escaping Charger exceeded the excitement of the original. And my hair stood on end with the absolutely perfect timing of the Mustang showing up in the Charger's rear view mirror.
DAMN!!! That was nice! Not as good as the original (and didn't expect it to be) but still, the sound of the V-8 engines is music to this old man's ears.
Got to say, that really hit me in the chest! Fantastic
Way cool! Well done!
It funny watching the handling differences with the mustang versus new challenger. The guy with the mustang definitely had his hands full.
Vincent van Gogh sure can drive.
I'm sure he is all ears!
ouch......no more amateur night. @@LordFlashheart.11
Good effort but you shoulda used the Lalo Schifrin track, would've made it so much cooler 😎
You even got the Beetle there - NEVER FORGET THE BEETLE! 😄
No hubcaps flying off?
If using new challenger need new Bullitt imo
That was great!!!!
Why does everyone say this is the greatest car chase seen in history when every fast and furious car seen is way better and gone in 60 seconds as well?
That’s awesome great job
Question, why a challenger and not a charger?
Modern Chargers aren't muscle cars maybe
That was awesome
Whoo GET cha summ!!!!!
Best chase ever!
That Chad McQueen is my age and he looks just like his father. GREAT VIDEO!
Beautiful.
My dad was a Stillman on set and watched the whole chase ...
But my dad was actually a block over filming "Eye of the Cat" with Michael Sarrazin who was a good friend of my dad...
Steve actually wanted my dad to do the still work on Bullitt but was already scheduled to do the one he was on...
In fact everyone took a break from filming Eye of the Cat to go over and watch...
When my dad got there Steve asked if he could just shoot it anyways...
But that was against union rules...lolol
And my dad also was part of the Cameraman's Local Union heads...
So it wasn't going to fly...lolol
Steve also wanted my dad to do "LeMans" but again Steve was too late again asking my dad because he was already scheduled for another picture...
I met Steve a couple of times and he was really nice to me and of course...very very cool 😎...lolol
I give it an F for the lack of flying hubcaps 😂
I love this vid Ridge
The king of cool.
No open centres here! (Thank God)!

Good thing they had a good police presence to protect all their camera equipment. “If there is going to be trouble on the set”, it will be provided by the locals.
ive seen this movie..im 66..i still 2 this day am told..the majority of the driving was done by a..yup-STUNT-DRIVER!!!!..i-dunno????DOES ANY-1???...HILLARIOUS!!!
Blasphemy! Well, the ubiquitous green Beetle was a nice touch. 😎
Very well done 👍🤟 I'm a big car movie nut lol and that would have made Steve proud.
I don't know what inspired you to do it; but that was neat Richard. I even liked the additional under-car B-roll shots. May be production's your bag man. Definitely some fun S ain't it bro ?
Super la vidéo et steve mcqueen est une légende 😢
This makes me sad Dodge doesn't make a 2 door that actually looks like a Charger.
Yeah making the modern Charger a saloon was not one of their better ideas...
@@sixstanger00 A Mustang still looks like a Mustang. A Challenger still looks like a Challenger. A new Charger looks more like a Tesla Model S than a real Charger.
Kinda kills you to beat (fender wells cutting the tires) on a nice car like that.
está recreación se merece un Oscar
The gear changing clacks and snarl of the mustang , that dirty music can’t be recreated…..but still a nice tribute ❤️
Parabens
If they really wanted to make this a real deal recreation, they should’ve partnered with Graveyard Carz for the Charger.
Richard, you have always succeeding in entertaining us in the car world. Your next mission, should you choose to accept, will be building and renting cars for the movie industry and/or making movies. I will write the script, OK? We need more movies like American graffiti, and, two-lane blacktop.
That's not a dodge charger, that's a Challenger hellcat 😂
What about the charger going into the gas station??
The best part of this video is the zoom close up in the rear view in the challenger. The rest? Probably fun to film, but having the modern Challenger vs a Charger is kind of weird. And the seriousness of the Challenger driver putting his seat belt on is sorely missed in this.
Wonder how that would have worked out with a 68 Charger and both with bias ply tires.
It’s nice to redream the “good ol days” but oh how we cherry pick the good parts.
Good Job, Richard & “Monkeys”! 😎
No Winchester pump Richard?
; )
Vincent Van Gogh of stunt driving.
❤ it
God bless ❤
Hey? The Mustang's brake lines didn't shoot out brake fluid from the underside brake lines from under the car on one of the jumps?! Eh. Close enough though. LOL
They should've either used the newer 2018 Bullitt special edition Mustang to chase the modern Challenger, or used a classic Charger which gets chased by the classic Mustang.
Everything was fine , UNTIL... I see a wrong CHARGER , in the film the winner was Mustang because it was drove by the main actor, BUT everyone knows CHARGER was better in all , speed, torque, etc...
Hi Alejandro,
I read somewhere that the driver of the Charger, Bill Hickman, had to ease off on the throttle during the car chase otherwise he would have outpaced Steve McQueen. The Charger's engine had 375 hp, the Mustang's only 325.
Uau!
The Green Beetle is Peppy Le Pew
Who is the guy driving the Challenger? He looks a bit like Bill Hickman.
Just brilliant. You could have improved it even further by dumping random hubcaps out the door every so often....
❤
A cool attempt but the original take brings over much, much more emotions.
Lets be honest, they were faster and jumped higher in the movie 😂
Treating a classic Mustang like this is criminal.
