    (No disrespect I just come here a lot and need this)
    2:34 - *Draw Mask* & *Keyframe* so it covers the whole clip (Extra room is Fine)
    4:34 - *Mode* > *Subtract*
    4:54 - *Content Aware Fill Tool*
    Tips:
    7:09 - *Feather Mask* to help with Jagged Edges
    8:44 - Create a *Reference Frame*

    That's not how you modify the work area, you just zoomed in your timeline. The bracket you had grabbed first was the correct one (6:28). You can also use the shortcuts B and N to set the beginning and the end of the work area.

  • @scrow9
    @scrow9 3 роки тому +2

    This is impressive but I think it probably only works this good in shots with natural landscapes which are random - I wonder if you tried this in an industrial setting like a factory where there are lots of straight lines if it would work at all - just curious, I'm not even a PC user but the technology is interesting

    Josh is using the Beta version, folks. The standard version in the 17.5.1 update doesn't have the "lighting correction" dropdown menu as part of the CAF panel.

  • @patronusphotography
    @patronusphotography 2 роки тому +1

    This is extremely handy, thank you! A conceptual question for you... so in your second shot you have a doggo running. When the doggo is in the right side of the frame, the left side is "empty"... so when the doggo moves to the left side later on in the clip is it possible that the CAF is using the "left-side empty" frames from earlier in the clip to fill in the space? Also, does the CAF only work with locked-down/tripod shots, or does it merely work BETTER with tripod shots--in your experience? Thank you!

    What about moving camera? Have you tried with non stabilized footage?

  • @tecwzrd
    @tecwzrd 3 роки тому

    Nice :D So either the subject or camera or both have to be moving I assume. The second one when you removed the dog, if you had tried to remove the person near the tree that wasn't moving and the camera isn't moving I suspect Content Aware would not be able to do it.

  • @DanielGrovePhoto
    @DanielGrovePhoto 3 роки тому

    This is amazing but what happens when the object you're removing becomes obscurred or moved off screen? What do I do with the mask at that point? It remains and content aware keeps filling the mask. ?

  • @emblitz1682
    @emblitz1682 3 роки тому +1

    I think the shadow of the dog requires some kind of work to remove as well. How will it be removed?

  • @Alienbikers-in-India

  • @Terjay

    How long does it actually render the fill? The first version of this tool was completely unusable because of the time it took to do anything.

  • @matteomolina

    is there a way to invert that ? so we have a mask of just moving object ?

    • @Olufemii
      @Olufemii  3 роки тому +9

    Is that Croatia?

  • @timsaylor5496
    @timsaylor5496 3 роки тому

    Kinda wish we got to see how this works on a shot that would actually need content aware fill to take the object out. For both these shots, to get the same results one could just duplicate the clip to v2, mask out the objects that need to be removed, feather those masks, then move the clip on the bottom over juust enough frames for the guy and/or dog to never cross through the area of the mask in the clip above it.
    TL;DR: Content aware fill is cool because it has the potential to create clean slates for shots which don't have them. Both the shots here have clean plates in the shot already, therefore CAF wasn't needed.
    PS: That being said, there are sooo many tutorials that will go through drop down menu options without explaining what any of them do except for the one they wanted to use for their very specific scenario and Josh clearly took the time to give us all that info. The value of this can't be overstated.
    PSS: honestly I bet if the parts of the title on either side of the " | " were swapped, I wouldn't have made this comment

    Those shots don't need CAF at all. If you have a static camera and a more or less static background, and all of the background is shown throughout the entire clip's length. this can be easily done with 2 freeze frames and 2 rough masks in a fraction of the time you spent on this. Especially the second shot, where there is no visual movement in the BG. CAF is needed when there is no easy way to get this done by hand, i.e. moving camera and always obscured parts of the BG. I'd love to see this feature shown with a more reasonable difficult shot. Right now, this feels like a lame demo of the feature, and I expect it to fall apart with every shot where it may actually be needed. Will have to play around with it myself then.

    A glowing advertisement for Adobe, that appears within an another advertisement for Envato Elements. I'm sure UA-cam motion graphic tutors would claim this is necessary for their economic survival. In any case, a truer description of Adobe's Content Aware Fill for AE is that is when applied to shots with moving objects or camera (something this demonstration avoids), the result can be messy to say the least.
    I don't agree that AI technology is the answer to digital image-makers dreams. Currently, AI technology is a little like a piano playing dog, in as much as the novelty is endearing, but perhaps we're expecting, or are being promised too much? Speaking from experience, I've found AI technology in Topaz Labs' still photographic filters, and in their heavily promoted Video Enhance AI, often produce hideously ugly results. Perhaps in years to come digital artists will be blessed with more advanced technology in this area, but for the moment what we have is a lot of hype from IT vendors, and a handful of impressive results.
