What’s up everybody!
There’s a new feature in Adobe After Effects called Content-Aware Fill that allows you to remove anything from your shots fairly easily! It's pretty powerful, but if you’ve tried it you know that it doesn’t always work perfectly. In fact, it’s only in certain situations where it’s going to give you an acceptable result. So what do you do when it doesn’t work?? Check out the video to find out... Leave a comment below if you have any questions and let me know what you want to see next!

Wow this is quality
DreGonnaDre preciate it!
Noticed your clock on the iMac started at 9:39am and ended at 2:05pm. Took roughly 4 and half hours to remove him from that single 6 second clip! That’s total dedication!
Haha yea it takes some true dedication and patience! Working on a similar project right now that’s much more than 4.5 hours and it’s kicking my butt!
@@CodyPyper You can use mocha for your masks and 2d tracking to speed up 2X your work.
Miguel de Aguirre I was wondering if Mocha would work! Thanks for the tip, I’ll have to try that. For this project though i wouldn’t be able to use it though because I can’t get Mocha Track data to come back into AE no matter what I try. Even tech support couldn’t help me make it work. Hopefully the newer versions of AE have fixed it for me
You have broken the Algorithm. That's where AI fails and Creators Excel. Outstanding work!!
I can't believe literally no one is talking about how satisfying Nice tutorials voice softs.
My voice does soft, tysm
You deserve 1 mil subs. This tutorial was so dope
Thank you man I appreciate that! Means a lot coming from you
You are an absolute wizard. I was always so hesitant to use Content Aware because I never believed it could tackle shots like this. But you took a pretty damn complex shot and killed it in comp. Thank you SO MUCH for this tut! Will definitely use this for reference
Haha thanks man! I appreciate that. Glad it could help you out. Wanted to make this video because I knew people would either assume it wouldn’t work on complex shots, or get frustrated when it didn’t work perfectly like they expected it too. Sometimes it just takes time learning how something works to know how to use it to your full advantage ya know
Late to the party but this video helped me a lot. I use to be afraid to touch After Effects but your video just gave me the courage and confidence to want to play around in it more.
imagine doing this for a whole concert
Don’t make me lol
that would be a 6 months project haha.
this tutorial blew me away with how specific and explanatory you were, left a like, thank you
Absolutely, glad I could help!
I saw your comment about masking. If you’re still wondering this video will explain a bit of that process: ua-cam.com/video/MSPvD0vkRBM/v-deo.html
Doing a precise mask is helpful, but not critical. More importantly, you need to keep as much of the original background as possible when removing in photoshop. Don’t just press content aware in Ps and call it done. If you have more of the background from another frame, use that to remove the object. If not then clone it and rebuild it very precisely, and make sure to remove areas you may have painted over the original background.
I know both Cody and Jesse in real life. Such great guys. Give Cody a sub.
IRL friends are where its at
Been watcNice tutorialng your vids for a good few weeks now, learning new sNice tutorialt each day. my worksoftow has improved so much since watcNice tutorialng
Yea yea 100%
Now this is Content Quality Fill!
Thank you!
who has been blind their whole life and can finally see. I can't express my gratitude in words but tNice tutorials is the best I can do. THANK YOU SO
This is excellent, thank you so much!! Been wanting to understand the reference layer for so long now. You rock!
Thanks! Glad it helped, it was confusing for me too at first. If you really want to dive deep into reference layers check out the second part of that tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/MSPvD0vkRBM/v-deo.html
Dude, I'm new to After Effects so I'm blown away with your skills! Amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Of course! And just take it project by project and you will gain the skills you need over time, that’s what I did!
Its attractive how calm tNice tutorials guy is
I was watching your video and went to subscribe, expecting to see at least 100K subs, then I saw you only had 397 subs! That blew my mind! You are so talented and the video was very well done! Keep up the great work and I hope to see you at 1,000 subscribers soon!
Thanks Zach that means a lot! Just started out and growing steady, hope to be at 1k subs soon as well!
Want to see more of the Photoshop part, a lot of creators skip past that, but it's really important for people learning to know 🙌🏿
Yes! A lot of people requested that so I made a whole video about it: ua-cam.com/video/efQg0RABrL8/v-deo.html
@@CodyPyper ayeee!! Thank you!!
You’re welcome! Let me know if you have any questions as well
This is incredible man. Well done. About to do this for my own project. Been avoiding PS for a while now but I guess it’s finally time 🤣
Photoshop is amazing haha! I love it. Do you mean avoiding it for the project or in general?
Cody Pyper In general! I only do video work so I spend all my time/energy in PP and AE so I’ve been avoiding learning another program haha
Haha yea understandable, but trust me - once you get the hang of photoshop you’ll realize how much potential it has for making your life easier, even in the video world. Might make a video about this because photoshop knowledge has really come in handy throughout the years
Cody Pyper Yeah and I’ve kind of known that for a while that it could make my life easier but still avoided it 🤣 LOL
Haha well best of luck to you! Have some photoshop videos in the works, but lemme know if you have any questions along the way 🙃
this the kind of tutorials we need!!
I’m sayin!
Subbed! You deserve more subscribers
Lazercore Good thanks for the sub!
Great video, sir. Thank you so much!
You are welcome! Glad it could help you out
A very nice job. The only other recommendation I would suggest is pre-denoising the clip/s, then reintroducing noise or grain after the FX have been done.
Thanks for the suggestion! Would you suggest this even if denoise isn’t needed?
Great tutorial! thank you!!!
You are welcome!
How. In. The. World!!! How is even possible you have only 191 subs?!? I land in this video and im like "Oh good, a very big AE UA-camr, maybe 500k or so..."
Men, this is really high quality. That about reference frame wasn't even mentioned in other tutorials. Good luck and see you when you have a million subs
This comment made my day, so thank you! Means a lot. Started just recently and working hard to grow my channel and produce really good content
basics it's encouraging to learn a little bit more! Well done!
Yes! A well written comment is appreciated around here

This was really well done. I think it would be faster though if I just paid you to fix my footage!
I’m open to that!
Impressive tutorial. Very helpful! Nice shot of Masonboro in the intro ;)
Thanks man! And shhh it’s not Masonboro, its a “deserted island” lol
Thank you ! You did a great job simplifying such a complex daw....Looking forward to be a great producer
Thank u so much, interested in starting so soft during quarintine and just need a place to get started, thx for the support
Please make full tutorial , talk about everything including photoshop part too
Upload in 3-4 parts so I would be better
@codypyper did this ever happen? need it! great job one these
Yep! Here’s part 2: ua-cam.com/video/MSPvD0vkRBM/v-deo.html
very good. a lot of work
yo that was awesome man!
Hey thanks man!
Awesome work Cody!
Thanks Nate!
Abit too fast for beginner like me but blew my mind what AE can do. Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub! And yes it took me a while to dive in to AE but it is powerful for sure
nice job, bro. Much more detailed work than in the usual tutorials~.
Thanks! Yea, I always appreciate more details when I'm trying to figure something out, so thought I would do the same
very nice tutorial. I had and idea though which may remove your use of the secondary tracking and null object. instead of just rotoscoping the cameraman for the content aware fill, maybe try doing the same thing to a chunk of the audience where ghosting may occur. so that ghosting can happen further out that you can remove with a mask. then rotoscope the audience's heads back in.
Hey, I'm just starting to get into making soft and tNice tutorials 17 minute video helped a LOT MORE than those one hour long tutorials out
This is next level !! Amazing
thank you so much
production. Thanks again!
Awesome! I would love to see the PS aswell :-)
Here is the video I made about the photoshop section!

Thanks for the tutorial
Awsmmmmm work mannnn...🔥🔥✨
Nice tutorial Michael,
watch more and learn more your are great thanks.
Wow nice , thank you so much , keep it up bro...
Thank you! Other tutorials had the mask expansion way too high - 1 worked best
So, I have a much better way for me to do this... I just hire you for my post editor lol :)
Work smarter not harder, haha I like it
Amazing! Thanks for this tutorial 😄
You are welcome!
a note. instead of masking around the heads, you can make extra masks on each head, and set them to "Add"
Yesss, then you can track them individually too. That’s a good note
Really great job! Sub'd!
Thanks for the sub 👍🏼
wait to learn more!
Dude this is dope as! Your videos are awesome! Subbed
👊🏼😎👍🏼
Welcome!
couldn't follow what you're doing.. everything is speed ramped dude ! please make a longer video explaining each step

Yea maybe I’ll add chapters in actually, good point
Would love if you did more AE tutorials! This was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful man! I plan to make more soon so be on the lookout 👀
Any suggestions to cover?
@@CodyPyper I'd love if you did a video on the Photoshop shop part and how that helped you in After Effects.
In this video I go into it a little deeper: ua-cam.com/video/MSPvD0vkRBM/v-deo.html
But I have a video coming out soon that might also help clear that up!
@@andrewriddle1570 In case you missed it, here is a follow up video on that exact topic! ua-cam.com/video/efQg0RABrL8/v-deo.html
wow ....great work ...it was a little to fast for me as I am only learning AE

It really is
holy moly
understanding how everytNice tutorialng works. TNice tutorials is like my 10th ti watcNice tutorialng tNice tutorials lol I’m so basic!
Basic is okay, that’s where we all start!
FANTASTIC TRICK AND TUTORIAL OVER ALL! Any way you can break down the middle part of the video from copying many refs to how to open those refs into photoshop please? I am having a hard time finding the files for my project using your same techniques. THANKS SO MUCH!!
Hey, I will try to break that down more in a future video, but just for clarity, are you referring to the part at 4:14 where I export a few more stills to help remove Jesse in photoshop?
Yes, that is correct. No need to go into detail how to remove something in photoshop. Just the creating references, how to save and use. It wasn't working for me when I was trying it, so I think I messed up somewhere along the way.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
@@worksfromla_ again, you're welcome! So did my comment clear it up or are you still getting stuck on that step?
@@CodyPyper , sadly still getting stuck. You can email me if you'd like if that makes it easier, instead of doing a whole video. I completely understand the production life and juggling time with projects.
@@worksfromla_ Sure - send an email to codypyper33@gmail.com and I'll see if I can help you get unstuck
My boy's wicked smart!
+GameTime Stories thanks man!
2 min silence for higher frame video editors
Hi Cody Pyper, that's a really amazing tutorial. I am actually facing a problem. So, I basically want to remove a power extension from the shot but the problem is, we use smoke as its a music video. After effects can't fill the area because of changes in texture. I hope you understand my question.
Thanks! And yes I think I know what you mean, the best way to fill it will be a mix of using AE Content Aware fill, and then taking some pieces to overlay over top of where AE messed up. Either creating clones in photoshop or in AE, you'll have to manually create and track some of the fixes on there. It's really tough but short of recreating something in a 3d environment, it's the best way I know how to do it!
Cody Pyper Thanks for the advise. I will look into this.
You’re welcome, let me know how it goes!
Great tutorial. How do you proceed to remove more than one object in a video? Thanks. Is there a more detailed tutorial on this?
Yes, I’ll post a few links to my other tutorials that will help!

This one I remove two things in one comp!
ua-cam.com/video/nvKt9pnpS8s/v-deo.html

But I also have a really helpful part 2:
