- This tutorial will show you how to use the Content Aware Fill Tool in After Effects. It will show you how to remove people or objects from a video with a few simple steps. Adobe After Effects' Content Aware Fill Tool uses some crazy technology to fill in the background that should be where your subject is standing while also removing the subject or object from your video. It's like modern-day sorcery! You can remove anything from your video with this tool. All it takes is drawing a rough mask around our subject, changing some settings and generating a fill layer. NOt sure how you followed his chopped up instructions. I got NOTHING. Followed to the end and pressed GENERATE FILL LAYER, and NOTHING. Just a folder full of still images. Didn't work. BS.

I did a test on a video from an Airshow and cropped this dude right out of the video lol. It worked awesome. I just need to fine tune it a little. The particular video, someone walked past the masked area and this person got see glitchy. Thank you so much.

it did MUCH better than i expected. i am mostly impressed with the consistency it preserves. i have lots of experience with Ps but never touched Ae. I'll definitely give it a try. i remember a few years ago that was only possible when the camera was completely still.

Amazing tutorial, thank you so much!! Desperately need advice: I'm trying to use content aware to get rid of a radio mic. Every time I generate a fill, it says the background is "completely opaque (no holes to fill)" and aborts the content fill. Is this because the mic is black and the person's wearing a black jumper and jacket? Or something else? How do I work my way around this? Do I make the mask area bigger? Any advice and I'll be eternally grateful

can you use the tracker tool to do the mask pathing as well?
I dont think you can, I havent tried it yet but there could be a way to rotoscope and then convert the path to mask, I have seen someone do something like that before using a dropdown on the menu, but not sure how it is done, sorry
i need help, i have 80 refference frames, is there any way to create a folder and transfer all of the frames into that folder to make it more organized?
This is super nice but I am trying to remove a person from a 14-second clip and it's quite a small space that needs to be edited but it is taking forever for it to analyze the frames. Like more than 30 minutes. Am I doing something wrong?
I'm not sure, that does seem like a long time. It does take a while to render, it could be your computer speed that effects it too. Sorry I dont have an answers 🙈
i have 16 gb ram and 50 gb space on pc and my content never turn out good..any idea what i could do different?

my content aware fill can't detect my mask :(
Instead of masking can you apply content aware to a rotoscope layer?
I dont know if you can, the only way it could work is if you auto trace the rotoscope layer and then try, but I havent tried it out, so I'm not sure 🙈
You would also have to add some sort of mask expansion as you need space around the edge of your mask..
Nothing happens after I generate fill layer. I end up with a substracted mask

I've had a free people say that, and I'm not sure why 🙈 did it come right? I know you do have to wait quite a long time for it to process fully and it can show black during that time..?
