    thank you for this tutorial. not too many projection mapping tutorials. a few notes:
    1. it seems you are working in "linearize working space" in the project settings. this is why you had to "preserve RGB". it is unnecessary for this technique (and complicates things).
    2. you don't really need the projection camera. everything works just as well with original camera.
    3. tip - if you feel that the max shadow map is not enough and the texture is still a little blurry, you can create a larger comp size and set it to comp size. then you precomp and crop it again.

      Yes, that's right, he doesn't need the secound camera. He did this because you don't have to kill the keyframes later on when you copy and paste the camera positions to the light and picture and may other items you want to import. I needed a bit to figure this out as well, seemed a bit complicated, but well that's his own way of doing things. Thank you both for different techniques, I can add this to my Matchmoving options because you can correct the final matchmove a bit more different than with my inverse power pin method in an easy shot like this + you don't lose the motion blur when doing so.

    Hello please help when I set my clean plate 3D layer to Light Transmission to 100% and "Cast Shadow: Only" then the layer just goes completely invisible!!

    Wow. You're absolutely talented, but it's so complicated to do just that. I am totally new AE, but there's gotta be another way, no? Thanks for the tutorial anyhow.

    Im not a pro at aftereffects but i think there might be a simpler way by using content aware fill ?

    • @ActionVFXofficial
      @ActionVFXofficial  2 роки тому +5

      Content Aware Fill is another way to do it! However, we believe it is also important to know the "manual" way of object removal using camera projection!

    Good job! So i assume that the movie "The Adam Project" Ryan Reynold's fight scenes with some hi tech army inspired this trick or effect

      Thanks for the comment! This tutorial actually came out in August 2021, so predates The Adam Project by a few months. But I can definitely see the comparison! - Jonathan

    Cool tutorial but this type of workflow in Aftereffects is so messy that it's hard to comprehend how in all these years Adobe still hasn't implemented a proper 3D work environment. This type of effect in Blender or even Blackmagic Fusion would be so much easier and faster. I would encourage anyone interested in these types of techniques to really make it a point to learn other apps since Aftereffects is really the wrong tool for the job.

      I think it's also a problem of this tutorial by itself. I've removed stuff in way more complex shots without any of this just by relying on the "content-aware" tool. I think most of this stuff is unnecesary unless it becomes strictly a need (i mean, in case of the "content aware" not working or so). I could say you can achieve the exact same result in way less time, maybe they went in the hard way to make the video longer, idk.

    I don’t get why the whole projection part? Why not just put the cleanup in 3D space where the solid is?

      it was done to reduce blur in the projection..its just increasing the shadow resolution
