Hello, Thank you so much. I am reading so many nice words. My heart is full of joy. I was absent for a while due to a death in my family. Reading the kind words is nice.
Hi Dr. Lee, Thank you for sharing your videos they have helped me tremendously. I took the skills exam yesterday, and I made satisfactory on all four of my skills with the exception of Blood Pressure #12 the critical element. I was wasn’t surprised, because I had a difficult time hearing the systolic sound. Can you please create a video for blood pressure?
Hello! Thank you so much for your video. One question in my book the steps says brush the dentures then rinse the cup...does the steps have to be in order. I liked the way you emptied the cup, rinsed and then put to the side...can you possibly clarify for me? Thanks
Hello, for the denture care skills, the order does not matter. Just make sure to place the dentures in a clean cup with clean water after brushing them.
Hello Dr. Lee, I just started the CNA program and I'm truly grateful for these videos. As I was watching skill 5 I understand your pre preparedness of the Luke warm water for the dentures, but won't that water be considered cold or room temperature by the time I get through the entire process. Is that still ok?
Hello, The state requires the water to be moderate temperature while completing the skill. The student will leave the dentures at the sink. The evaluator will not check the temperature of the clean water in the denture cup.
So is the basin suppose to be in the designated dirty supply area? In the video you left them at the sink….just curious to know which is recommended for the test ❤ I love your videos you do less talking during the demo 😊
Hello Presh-uhs, The basin IS NOT the designated dirty supply area. During the test, you must look for a sign that says, " Designated Dirty Supply." Wherever the sign is located is where you would place the items. I have my sign by the sink. I used to have the sign on a portable table. The state does not tell the testing site/evaluator where to place the sign.
Hi Dr. Lee, I have a skill question- transferring from bed to wheelchair using a transfer belt: After successfully transferring the client to the wheelchair do we leave the wheels on the wheelchair locked? Thank you.
Hello, This is a good question. The answer will depend upon what you use to line the sink. 1. Some students use a paper towel to line the sink. Therefore the proper place for a used wet paper towel is in the garbage can. 2. Some students use a small wash cloth to line the sink. Therefore the proper place for the used wet towel is in the soiled lined hamper. 3. Some students fill the sink half full with water and there is nothing to put up. Let's review the directions. Look at step 11. Credentia states to remove and dispose of it appropriately. 11 Sink liner is removed and disposed of appropriately and/or sink is drained.
During this skill Dr. Lee would we have to announce that we washed our hand before putting on gloves? Or is the handwashing not need for this particular skill?
Handwashing is needed for this skill. You don't have to wash your hands before putting on the gloves. You must wash your hands when removing the gloves.
Hello, I hope I answer your question. I am a little unsure of what you are asking. When performing the denture skill, the student should keep the water running FOR THE WHOLE skill and keep the SAME GLOVES on for the entire skill. You don't have to change gloves or the water. The dentures are NEVER placed in dirty water. Therefore, the student doesn't have to change the water. You should wash the dentures to the side and rinse under clean running water.
Hello, The ONLY time a student has to physically wash their hands is with the very FIRST SKILL. After the first skill, the student is allowed to SAY/VERBALIZE handwashing. This is because of the time limit for the skills exam. The student would have been graded on the handwashing skill at the beginning; therefore, there is no need to keep washing your hands again to be graded multiple times for the same thing (handwashing).
Hello, For this skill, I teach students to place the toothbrush and toothpaste in the emesis basin by the sink after the procedure. You don't have to place these items in the dirty supply area. The steps in the candidate handbook, don't give directions.
Hello, Yes the toothbrush and basin are dirty after use. See step 13 of this skill in the candidate handbook. You must rinse each item. You must empty, rinse, and dry the basin. Place the items in the designated dirty supply area.
Thank you! I am watching from Raleigh North Carolina.

I tried to do a blood pressure video, but I don't know to make the B/P sound be heard on video. My grandson is supposed to help me with this soon.
@@credentiacnaskills3577 Hi Dr. Lee, thanks for your response. I will keep my eye out for it.

Yes, exactly. Please leave the wheels locked. Remove the gait belt.
After step #3, where do you put the denture while you perform step #4?
Hello, I hold the dentures in one hand while applying toothpaste to the toothbrush.
could the sink liner be disposed of in the soiled linen hamper? or the dirty supply area should be fine?
Hello, This is a good question. The answer will depend upon what you use to line the sink.
1. Some students use a paper towel to line the sink. Therefore the proper place for a used wet paper towel is in the garbage can.

I forgot to wear my gloves before washing the dentures but the instructor reminded me.can I pass my exam
Good for you. Normally not putting on gloves is an automatic fail due to infection control.
Hello, Where do we place the denture toothpaste after use in the basin with the toothpaste or on top of the papertowel?
Hello, For this skill, I teach students to place the toothbrush and toothpaste in the emesis basin by the sink after the procedure. You don't have to place these items in the dirty supply area. The steps in the candidate handbook, don't give directions.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
