Hi Mrs. Julie. I am currently in a CNA program and our professor wants us to use a new side of a washcloth for every stroke while doing foot care. Is this required for the state exam? Thank you!
Hi, King! Yes, you can. However, you have to keep in mind that your skills exam is timed. So, whenever and wherever you can shave time, you should. Hence, making multiple trips to dispose of your supplies and/or place them in the designated dirty area, will only eat up your time that could be spent on the actual performance of a skill.
Hello Mrs Julie I have 2 questions , I will have my test in 2 weeks in California . My first question is , do I have to put a barrier for the table ? And my second one , do I have to raise the bed for body mechanics or it’s not required for this step ? .
Hi, Adriana! First question: No. Pearson Vue does not require testing candidates to place a clean barrier on the table. Second question: Body mechanics is not scoreable, so raising the height of the bed is not a requirement. But, if you do, just remember to put the bed back to a low, safe position before stating, "skill complete". Good luck on your exam!
Hi, Elizabeth! If those States are Compact States (have a contract with the State of Texas), and depending if Texas requirements are equal to or greater than those States. Your best bet would be to contact the NA Jurisdiction for those States.
So you’re able to keep the same your gloves on while rinsing the tub, drying and all and not get failed for the particular part.. I’m just trying to make sure that after washing the foot I wouldn’t need to take those gloves off and switch gloves..
Hi, Mairege! If you are testing under Pearson Vue, Body Mechanics is not emphasized. Therefore, you do not have to if you do not want to. If you are testing under Prometric, Body Mechanics is emphasized. Therefore, you will need to do so.
@@NURSEJARquestion ❓ I'm sorry but do the NAE'S tell you how they want you to provide foot care like laying down or in a wheelchair or can I pick? Like will they already be laying down?
@dominiquefrazier6386 Hi! No, Mam! If you test under Pearson Vue or Credentia, the person will be lying in the bed. You may either perform the skill with the person lying down in the bed, or you may sit them up on the side of the bed. If you are testing under Prometric, the person will be seated in a chair or wheelchair.
Hello Mrs Julie, i appreciate all your videos. i will be taking my test next month. i would like to know if this whole testing is timed for each candidate. how long can i spend on a skill before i get the times up signal? Also for the foot care, do i have to raise bed to a comfortable working position?
Hi, Initan! Thank you for your comment and good luck on your exam! If you are testing under Pearson Vue, you will have 30 minutes to complete your Skills Exam. There is no time limit to complete each individual skill. The timer will be set at 25 minutes. When it alarms, that will alert you that you have 5 minutes remaining to complete your exam. You will want to complete simplistic skills, such as Hand Hygiene or PPE within 3-5 minutes. This will allow you more time for your more com ppl lex skills, such as Peri-Care and Modified Bed Bath. Let me know how you do. What state will you be testing in?

@@aiana0 Hi! No problem! You have a wonderful day, also.
So what if you have a client who doesn’t have that leg strength?
If I were to do the other foot , do I get fresh water and a new dry barrier towel
Hi, StaleyVision!
No, not unless the water becomes soap sudsy. During testing, you're required to clean only one foot.
I did my NA IN Texas. Can I take my CNA( written and skills) outside Texas e.g. in DC or Maryland?
Hi, Elizabeth! If those States are Compact States (have a contract with the State of Texas), and depending if Texas requirements are equal to or greater than those States. Your best bet would be to contact the NA Jurisdiction for those States.
How long you soak the person foot?
So you’re able to keep the same your gloves on while rinsing the tub, drying and all and not get failed for the particular part.. I’m just trying to make sure that after washing the foot I wouldn’t need to take those gloves off and switch gloves..
Hi, Love Sandi! You're correct! For testing, you DO NOT need to change out gloves. Only collect ONE pair of gloves.
JULIE REYNOLDS Thank you so much for replying.. I’ve been letting others know about your video! Keep up the great work!!

Hi, Sian!!!
i wiah ipassed my exam on 16 of may
Hello , is it ok if I don’t raise the bed while am working , just in case I don’t forget to lower the bed
Hi, Mairege! If you are testing under Pearson Vue, Body Mechanics is not emphasized. Therefore, you do not have to if you do not want to.
If you are testing under Prometric, Body Mechanics is emphasized. Therefore, you will need to do so.
Can i watch this for 2023 Pearson Vue even if this wasn't posted in 2023
Hi, Dominique! Yes, you can!
Please is forgetting to put the clients foot in the basin a critical or bolded steps that can make one fail the entire skills?
Hi, Mercy! It is not a critical element step.
Are we going to have partners to perform this skill on? So I could potentially get my foot washed?? 😩
Hi, Kristen! Yes. This skill is performed on a live person.
Hi nurse JAR. Do u have an update provide foot care video for credentia? I have skill exam February 18th.
Hi, Tynacraig! I'm working on new, updated videos.

Ok 💙💯
Please no to vertical video. :(
Hello Mrs Julie, i appreciate all your videos. i will be taking my test next month. i would like to know if this whole testing is timed for each candidate. how long can i spend on a skill before i get the times up signal?
@@NURSEJAR Houston ma'am. I really appreciate the information. I will update you when I take my exams.
so if u fail a step does the NAE stop u and say u failed
Hi, Lea! No!
