      I bought the Vivaia shoes with the embroidered leopard. They are so cute but have no structure to hold my foot in. I could not wear these. Unfortunately, return window passed, so I have to keep them. I would give this style a pass.

    I am a 70 yr old lady and have seen a lot of trends come and go. Every year we are being told that this or that style is ‘timeless’ only to tell us in two years that they are out of style. I am sure you wouldn’t mind when I say that I prefer to wear classic and slightly more traditional clothes and shoes that really áre timeless instead of all the heavy and very unflattering foot wear being advertised as the best thing since sliced bread. It’s ok for very young people in my opinion.

      I'm in my mid seventies and feel similar to you particularly when it comes to footwear as for starters wear a half size which are not offered in all styles and many of my shoes are real leather plus I refuse to have to break a pair in. That being said; recently gave a pair of my all white leather peep toe shoes (that have a kitten heel and oh so comfortable) a dye job, converting them to black 'n white and received numerous compliments on the first wearing of them. (Majority of shoe in white with the heel and portion of the upper vamp in black.) To conclude; I'm glad I didn't get rid of them .... 🙂.

    I can appreciate this video but, how there is nothing wrong with people wearing what they feel is suitable to their taste. Whether it's for comfort, affordability, age appropriateness, or just because they like it. Everyone isn't into staying on "trend" or keeping up with everything that's constantly in and out of style. Style n fashion is suggestable in my opinion. To each their own. Everyone be blessed and feel good about yourself no matter what you decide to wear.❤

    Living in NY, the rules are different: there aren’t any. People wear anything and everything, or nothing 🥺. The obsession with always being “in style” according to external standards is why the landfills are bursting with discarded textiles. If you buy a pair of shoes that you like, are comfortable, and suit both your look and your lifestyle, you shouldn’t have to lose your investment by discarding them in a year because they “went out of style.”

    I feel we have reached an era where many woman have chosen to reject the trends that have no support, damage the feet, and have high, thin heels. Other than that I have noticed much more pushback on shoes that we know will cause genuine pain.

    I work in retail and merchandizing and I must say, regardless of “trends” my clients primarily narrow things down on practicality and comfort (which I second!) When I review a new shoe style, I ask: Can I wear this 8 hrs straight or if walking along diverse terrain in our region? Stilettos might be “sexy” but it’s also not cute hobbling down a sidewalk barefoot with ankle straps in hand… kind of defeats the purpose of buying them in the first place 😅 A classic slip on mule or cork wedge always seem to be top sellers for us because they check a lot of boxes: comfortable, versatile & neutral.

    • @abeal49
      @abeal49 Рік тому +3

      yes and I have found more and more event venues have polished concrete floors reminiscent of the polished marble floors in old buildings. The carpets are gone, and walking across the polished surface in stilettos is hazardous. Other venues: the garden party on the lawn, the beach wedding, the wedding on a wooden deck. None of these places are conducive to wearing stilettos! I have had heels sink into dirt, sand, and get stuck between the planks of wooden decking.
      Now when I am familiar with where I am going, I wear shoes that will work with whatever the flooring is. That means I am often selecting my outfit from the floor up!

I own a ton of shoes and I cycle through them each year. I really can't agree that we should be on trend. That is beneficial to manufaturers and retailers. It is expensive and wasteful. Replace clothes and shoes as needed and donate those extra funds to edifying causes or investing in experiences.

    I have been wearing ballet flats for a number of years and have been my “signature” style of shoe. I find them to provide the greatest comfort particularly when walking for extended periods of time. Structure is important as, over time and excessive wear, they can lose their shape and become quite distorted and frumpy looking. When it comes to sneakers, I will only wear white traditional canvas sneakers. I wear both standard sole and platform. I am 4’8” and 70 years old and find it quite difficult to find stylish shoes in size 5. Comfort is a primary concern for me when purchasing shoes as there is nothing more painful than wearing uncomfortable shoes and will quickly ruin whatever social event you experience in a matter of moments. Thick strappy sandals look horrific on my tiny feet so shoes such as Birkenstocks are quite awkward looking on me and are a definite “No”! During cooler months, I often wear Docs, ankle boots, knee high boots, sneakers, or ballet flats. I love pumps for a more dressy look, but just can’t tolerate them for long periods of standing or walking. When I do choose to wear them, I throw a pair of ballet flats in my bag in the event my shoes become too uncomfortable to wear. I wish us ladies with tiny feet had more stylish options to choose from (without having to second mortgage the house)!

Your timing could not have been better; I was just pondering why classic Keds looked so much more balanced on my narrow feet than the thick "trendy" marshmallow-soled variety! Thanks for a very informative (and money-saving) video.

    I have just become a fan of Vivaia. I hesitated for a long before trying them as I don’t like to order things online without a chance to check them in person for quality before I order. However, a few weeks ago I was online idly scrolling through some photos of events around the Coronation. There was a photo of Princess Anne at a Buckingham Palace garden party. Her shoes caught my eye, so I zoomed in for a closer look. they were Vivaia chunky-heel round-toe in cream. I could clearly see the “V” on the side, so they were definitely Vivaia. Well, I said to myself, if they are good enough for the Princess Royal to wear to a Buckingham Palace garden party they are good enough for me.
    I ordered the slingback chunk heel first, and I loved them. I have since ordered a couple of pairs of ballet flats and love them, too. I might add that I am in my 70s and have “difficult” feet - big, wide, bunions, the works. My new Vivaias look good, even on my feet, and are remarkably comfortable. I will be ordering more.

      I can't wear Vivaia because of hammer toes and having lost the padding on the bottom of my feet. As a Canadian I find the final cost of the shoes too expensive. Plus I'd like to know how long they last if a person wears them at least twice a week. That said, I love love love the designs of these shoes. It upsets me that I can't wear them.

    • @lap8329
      @lap8329 Рік тому

      @@sbaumgartner9848 Aren’t feet a pain (literally)! I’ve got dreadful feet, but thankfully the Vivaias work for me. I’m ex-Canadian, now Australian so I understand your pain about the cost. (Our dollars are usually about par with each other.) I don’t know how well they will hold up - they do seem well made. Fortunately, I spend most of my life in sneakers and only need ‘nice’ shoes no more than once a week, so given my age these shoes will probably last me for the rest of my days.

    My fave summer shoes are espadrilles. My pairs are all classic thin sole flats not open toe, laced up, or strapped. They go with my linen pants and dresses I wear in hot weather. The classic jute insole espadrilles are great for sweaty feet.

    Thank God I love the more 'urban' style soles. I have skinny legs and big shoulders. The slightly heavier styles tend to balance my look. Flats give me horrible back ache... my soles need to have some contour for support. Also, my feet/toes have been broken, so it's a miracle to find something that doesn't torture my feet. Usually, I wear Dansco clogs, Nikes, or Clarks sandals. Those flat sandals set the bottoms of my feet on fire, and too slippery to be anywhere near a boat or water of any kind.I'd def' trip myself up on all that dainty stuff. That's never been me.

    I want to be stylish not necessarily trendy. In my opinion most of the "off trend' shoes featured here, are ugly and I would go for a more classic style that im sure, my daughter in law's would say is boring. I know the style now is chunky loafers and over sized jackets but the classic loafers and fitted jackets, and trench coats will never look unstylish. I think you have to go with what you feel you are most comfortable with. This channel is great though to bring prospective and to actually think about what you can do to improve on what you like. Thankyou Diana ❤

    Thank you for the informative content, Diana. In my experience, styles get reshuffled and come back-espadrilles are the perfect example-so I know better than to get rid of nice shoes only to have to spend money again when the fashion gurus and designers decide this or that style should come back. Also, IMO, it would benefit you if you sized up a half inch on your sandals; starting with the white-heeled summer ones you say you love to wear. You have really nice legs but your feet not fitting well in them, and, either having the heel coming off or the big toe far up in the front for others, just simply distracts. Play the video and pay close attention. Best wishes!

    You lost me at Birkenstocks and clunky, masculine Fisherman sandals as being on trend but then calling chunky wedge sandles clunky but popular and stacked heels as popular but outdated. How can something popular be outdated? Ladies, wear what you love, not what somebody else deems to be "on trend".

    New subscriber and love your content. I have an extremely hard time finding shoes due to my odd feet. Size 5 (if I'm lucky a 5.5), Very wide at the toe box and very narrow at the heel with an extremely high arch. My arch is so high that I must wear size 6 in sneakers and still cannot close the tongue completely when tied. So I cannot wear anything that goes over the arch or it will dig in. I also cannot wear slingbacks as the back strap falls off. I've been searching for a ballet flat, but if I find a size 5 and they fit my toe box, my heels pull out when I walk! So frustrating. I live in flip flops and are so sick of them. But you showed me some fantastic shoes that I am going to try. Thanks!
