I will give the contractor a piece of chalk , Ask respectfully to chalk vents, vent,etc. , preoccupies them while i do my Roof inspection. Once they start marking the vents, reality usually hits them with how big or small or the lack of hail. no need to argue. "Documentation Beat Conversation"-Me

I feel like an experienced contractor has already done that. I won't file a hail claim if there isn't collateral. I come prepared with a hail report and mark collateral to support hail size. If I can't find collateral to support a hail damaged roof, then it isn't going to be viewed as hail damage...nomatter what my opinion is. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of these guys knocking doors for roofing companies start out with very little training. To say it's minimal is a stretch. They have to have to learn on the fly and usually look like a complete ass until they figure out what adjusters are looking for. My goal as a contractor is to make it as easy as possible for the adjuster and stay out of his way. I have great working relationships with almost all adjusters I work with. There's one I deal with that I don't care for, but I have someone else go to the inspection with him, and I respectfully keep myself uninvolved when he is...as much as I can. This guy will argue with a rock, and enjoy every second of it lol. I just stay out of his way and let him do his thing.

The frustrating thing for contractors is that they can get an adjuster who will pay for anything or an adjuster who will deny roofs out of spite. (I sold roofs for a few months one summer and was shocked at the treatment I got)

Man I have had to ask homeowners to remove contractors from the property in the past. Some of these guys can get real nasty. I refuse to argue with anyone on a roof. I will get down and pack my ladder up.
