    Thanks Chad, perfect timing. I was thinking of getting rid of my old PCI Echo Layla interface since I've bought an XR18 and planning on doing what you outlined at the end. Nice one brother.

    Great video! I've been using my x32 compact as an interface and live mixer for 2 years. One very big difference between a stand alone "interface" and the digital mixers that are also interfaces, is that you have the option to use the dynamic and eq sections on each channel before you send out to your DAW. The x32 comes set up from the factory to pass the signal out directly after the pre amp, but if you use the P16 outs instead you have a post eq and dynamics signal. I don't use much, but a little gating, comp, and high or low pass can help get better tracks right from the start. Cheers!

      Yeah i've found this to be good too, even though people say just print/record without any eq etc and worry about all that in the box. But getting it sounding nice before recording is working real well for me.

      How do you get the p16 outs into your computer?

    Great videos! I just got the XR18, which was an upgrade from a cheap Harbinger analog mixer. However, with the Harbinger I could plug the USB out directly into my phone, and record a video of us playing with only the sound from the mixer being recorded over the video. This was super easy and produced great quality recordings. I can't seem to figure out how to do this on the XR18. The sound I'm getting is very distorted, cutting in and out, and almost seems like it's clipping. Any videos to help with this?

    Thank you for the great video! You're very gifted in the way you present things. I followed along with my Behringer XR 18 and got answers to some major issues, especially hearing the playback. Crossed some major hurdles today that would have otherwise kept me stumbling forever. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

    Hope you see this necro-post. I am guessing that on the individual channels 1-16 on the XR18 you are NOT sending those to the L/R Main bus output, since you are monitoring those channels via USB from your DAW? Just might be helpful info so folks don’t create a feedback loop, if I’m correct about what I think you’re doing.

      There are a few ways you could do it. Generally, I would have the main LR going to the studio monitors with DAW 1/2 routed to the Aux channels so I can hear the DAW. You could turn up the individual channels if you needed a low latency monitoring setup but I prefer to monitor through the DAW.
      Feedback isn’t really an issue in this scenario though phasing may be if you were to monitor through both the DAW and individual channels at the same time.
      I hope that answers your question :)

    If I would trigger some drum sound from say Ableton, what’s the latency ? Is it noticeable
    ?

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  6 місяців тому

      Depends on how powerful your computer is and whether or not you can run a super low buffer size.
      Also, if you’re blending triggers with the dry drum sounds, for the best results, you’ll want to delay the dry drums. That’ll be hard to do on the XR18 since I don’t believe there is channel delay on that mixer. You’d have to send them to a bus with a delay rack effect inserted and adjust the delay there - with no delay feedback and with the filters turned off.
      Soooo… is it possible? Yes. Is it worth it? That’s up to you.
      If you decide to do it, let me know how it went :)

    Chad! You beautiful human! I have been doing this same setup with a M32c and Dl16 stage box for a while now. You have just answered a bunch of questions on how to do a few things I wasn’t sure about. How is the best way to contact you with questions if they come up?

      Thanks Chad I really appreciate you doing this video. I was starting to think I was the only one doing this kind of set up for recording. We basically use an IEM monitoring rig for both monitoring at live shows and recording in the studio.

    I need some help!!
    If I have 6 bands members and we want to play a click track from studio one, how do I give us each the click?
    I simply wanted to have 6 individual monitor mixes, with the ability to record some tracks in studio one.
    We often use the click from studio one, but everyone wants a different amount.
    How do I route this?
    We are using the 6 Aux outputs for the individual monitor mixes. XLR straight to the P2 battery belt packs.

      That's what the Ultranet Personal Monitor option is for ;) Give everyone a unit, route all relevant signals to the Ultranet channels, and everybody can make their own mix as they see fit.
      For a six piece band that is of course a chunk of money, but maybe you can simplify that a bit if some people may be able to share a unit as they require basically the same mix settings. Anyway, the Personal Monitor units were made for this exact purpose.
      Hope this helps you, even if it's been more than half a year since you posted your question.

    Hey Chad...is it better to have a DAW on livestream mix? or maybe on FOH...thanks

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  3 роки тому +1

      Only if you have at least 3 solid audio techs: one mixing FOH, one mixing livestream, and one on break that week. Otherwise, it’s better to have a good post-fade mix, in my opinion.

      @@rev.adongopatrick789 These days, there are a bunch of analog mixers with 2x2 interfaces built-in. Obviously, these are very limited but can work if you only need to record the Main LR mix.
