Sadly they can’t because the law didn’t count stalking as a crime until very recently. Unless the man was showing up directly and she knew who it was, they couldn’t do anything about it. I was stalked from 16-19 and didn’t know who it was, luckily an officer went behind his job and got a private detective to find who my stalker was. Stalking laws are still not taken seriously, not because of police but because of the courts
Robin Preston i’m sorry, i didn’t know that! thank you for sharing this information. it’s great that you found out who your stalker was and i hope you’re doing better now!
saekemi you are more than fine! 👏🏾 There are definitely some cops who don’t take it seriously, but there are also many who do. Sadly our politicians and law makers treat it like a joke though.
My mother was a victim of stalking. She was not believed. It wasn’t until she ran into a childhood friend who was a cop and told him what was happening that she was finally believed and they arrested the man. My grandmother told her to “stop causing problems”. It’s horrible.
If she had multiple personalities, other people would notice, especially since she was hospitalized multiple times. Also, people with DID, presuming that was what was intended, do so to protect themselves. It's a self-preservation thing, so she wouldn't be tormenting herself. That makes no sense. And yes, it is absolutely maddening to not be believed when you are being abused. That kind of psychological torture needs to be made illegal if it can be proven. Many can prove it, and the victim is told to make changes even when it's not possible.
At this point, the ex husband could have fully confessed to stalking her and the police would still be like “nahh it’s definitely not you” -__- Another man got away with abusing and tormenting a woman.. sick and disturbing. I pray he gets his karma.
It was a woman's voice in the telephone calls. She was stalked by a woman (maybe by a group of people but if so, at least 1 woman is in that group of people because a female voice can be heard in the voice mail and telephone).
This is why women don't come forward about their abusers/stalkers. This story infuriates me, and my heart breaks for Cindy. May she finally be at peace.
They had no concrete evidence to turn her away either. They just said “we don’t believe you.” like a bunch of useless five year olds. They didn’t even bother to investigate to see if her claims are true, useless sacks of... manure
I can't believe they didn't even believe her when she was found with a knife in her hand!!! They even up and told her to stop faking as she was recovering. How is this even possible???
When you hear people use the term "gaslighting," THIS is exactly the kind of thing they're referring to, making someone feel their experiences and gut feelings are not true, that they are crazy. And a psychiatrist would know exactly what it is and how to do it.
Colleen Mahony This story literally made me think of the Ingrid Bergman movie ‘Gaslight’. The husband tries to convince the wife she is losing it even though she isn’t, and eventually, she can’t take it anymore.
Nope. Humans are supposed to act a certain way. The quickest way to get a man (or cop) to stop listening is to be hysterical. The more panic you're in when you call 911: the slower they are because they don't like being yelled at. -- they are the AUTHORITY. The way the police handled it almost makes me think it could have been someone within the department, or maybe her ex husband was very close with someone in the police. We all know the lengths they go through to "protect" their own...
I’ve been in law enforcement for over 10 years and half way through the video I had the same thought. I haven’t done any research on this but going just off of her story, this doesn’t sound like basic police incompetence but more like purposeful negligence.
Cindy actually had a lover, Pat McBride who was part of the police department. My money is on him as well! He wouold've easily been able to avoid police detection since he would've been watching her the same time as the police, knew when the police were monitoring her phone, etc. and made sure some "evidence" was never followed up on!
He must be someone in the higher ups, been hearing stories of priest pedophiles who were in cults with people who are police officers, government workers and so forth. Why would she be scared to tell her family, she must’ve know how much power this guy had. Could be why the police claimed her as lier.
The police claimed she staged all of the attacks for attention. To prove their claims, the police had someone at the coronal inquest placing a nylon around his neck and hog tying himself to demonstrate how Cindy may have done it in three minutes. They claimed she took oral narcotics (pills), which would have had a delayed effect and she would have had time to tie herself up before passing out. That doesn't explain the injection mark on her arm (although she could have injected herself with saline to fake it). The police account sounds very far fetched to me, which is probably why the result of the coronal inquest was that the manner of death was still unknown.
i feel so bad for cindy she died and they still don’t believe her. may she rest in peace and those who didn’t believe her feel horrible grief and regret and shame until they die
How could the police think she passed the lie detector test because she was so traumatized?? If they think she was faking it all, what traumatized her???? Hmmmmm
Wouldn't that have caused her to fail the polygraph? Polygraph machines work by monitoring your pulse. Reliving trauma would send your heart rate upward significantly.
@@malloryg4251 this seems like a problem. These officers have the resources but choose not to utilize them and take the easy way out rather than actually solving cases. I feel bad for a lot of these victim's families who have no closure because the police won't do their job. I mean, why take the easy way out? Is it because they're not properly trained to do so, or because they don't want to? It's sad when police resort to using the public to help solve cases because they can't. What does that say about their credibility and knowledge?
Watching this 2 years later and seeing that there is now SIX million subscribers!! So happy for you Bailey, you deserve all the recognition. Your videos get me through my work day 💕
In my opinion, it makes a lot of sense that her psychiatrist ex-husband would know all of the perfect ways to drive somebody insane based on his field of study. Then he turned everyone against her, making it seem like she had problems which he fabricated and people believed, to explain away all the weirdness that was happening to this poor woman.
Also do we know if they knew each other before she was 18? He could’ve easily groomed her and got into her head before and during their marriage. If she was groomed he would’ve definitely hated the idea of her not being under his control.
I was thinking the same thing about Baileys makeup, it’s a very very pretty look on her. I can’t stop looking at her eyes and her eyelashes on this look. Very pretty look Bailey
Yeah but why would a psychiatrist need access to morphine? I mean, he probably had some doctor associates or had privileges at some hospital(s) where he could have potentially snaked some, but he really shouldn't have had any direct, super easy access to it. But people are easily manipulated and greed and money are both things that exist so it probably wouldn't have been hard to pay someone off to get it for him. 🤔🤔 idk, I'm back and forth on this one. But if the victim herself suspected the ex-husband, then I think he's definitely the most viable suspect.
Psychiatrist, however, should not have access to Morphine within their practice. I said practice. As in, it isn’t a medication they use within their business. Now we all know anyone can get anything anytime though.
Knowing that she was repeatedly injected with morphine each time she was assaulted tells me it was probably her ex husband. He was angry she divorced him but he probably still had a soft spot for her and couldn't bring himself to watch her suffer or would feel ashamed if she was awake enough to recognize his face. Plus the fact he was a Dr. and probably had access to morphine. 🤷🏻♀️
I don’t think he injected her with morphine out of compassion. I think he did it so he can gain compliance and she isn’t able to fight back while he strangled her. He’s a coward who wouldn’t have the courage to try and fight her in the daylight.
What makes me so mad is that why would she do all that she did such as moving, polygraphs, changing her last name, all of that just for it to be herself doing it. Ugh.
Stringing up dead cats on her own porch? Making threatening letters to herself? Putting herself in a ditch? No way. My only thing is like...if this was happening daily, how did a neighbor never see who was doing it
@@brijefferson1498 this actually was a reddit post and he didn't have multiple personality disorder. The guy was suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. Someone on the reddit thread suggested that the guy tested his house and sure enough that was the reason. You can find this easily.
Also the correct term for "multiple personality disorder" is DID (dissociative identity disorder) and is most often formed through childhood trauma that manifests as seperate "identities" that basically work to protect the individual, so it's highly unlikely that someone with DID would be secretly tormenting themselves... it really just sounds like ableism + victim blaming

It had to be him, she didnt die until after accusing him and sending the police over, when she was threatened if she ever told that she would be killed. It just makes sense ykno
I can't believe anyone could think she was lying after she was found drugged, strangled and bound. I think the police just wanted to protect themselves as they new they had not done their jobs, seems like the husband would be the perfect fit, slowly mentally torturing her, making her and everyone doubt her sanity.
@@obiwancanblowme271 people ignoring your concerns because they think you're paranoid or hysterical does happen to women more often than to men, statistically. but of course it's frustrating when the police ignore valid concerns whether they come from men or women. bro.
I think it’s also a huge thing to note that she had gotten in a relationship with Officer Pat McBride. He moved in with her temporarily in November 1982 after more and more threatening notes and images appeared outside her home and officer mcbride did state he saw her ex husband in an alley way behind her house with two guns Her ex tried to play it off that he was patrolling to protect her
The dog thing. If one of her personalities were doing these things then surely her dog would be terrified of her after the dog was attacked? The dog wouldn’t understand and would just know that their owner was attacking them. . . Cases like these were police are so negligent should be reopened and looked at by new officers
He never remarried and when she divorced him he told her, "the world is a scary place when you live alone." Um, I think he did it. Because why would she wait 4 months after her divorce to start pretending to get death threats?
It was the ex-husband. She said she received a note saying that if she said who it was she would die. Lo and behold she said it was the husband and she was killed.

There would be different handwritings at times, & different vernacular. It was definitely the ex...all he was doing was setting up his alibi becuz he obviously knew the cops wasn’t believing her.
Not always the case... DID systems won’t allow the host/others to know they have DID until they’re supposed to know Many people won’t even realise and the host doesn’t fully realise either... This is why A LOT of DID cases aren’t diagnosed until much later in life (when the body is 20 years or older)
@@crystalxoxox7691 but isn't DID caused by serious childhood trauma? Also I thought the whole purpose of the DID system was to protect the host not to put them in harm?
Jimmy Crackcorn A lot of killers will (obviously) avoid contact with their victims while police are around. They’re likely constantly watching their victim/ making sure they’re alone when they strike. It’s basically common sense.
@lilybellamartin the ex husband never directly threatened her, so it’s really not a “spoiler”, the OG comment was slightly inaccurate. I know part of what Bailey does is entertainment but she’s talking about real people and terrible things that happened to them, commenters are allowed to discuss their feelings about these real events in the comments... they’re not “spoilers”.
Lily Bella Martin 1.) comments are literally for talking about the video. don’t read the comments if you don’t want to know what happens. 2.) someone literally died and you’re complaining about “spoilers”???! little weird that you’re that desensitized to someone actually losing their life after being horribly stalked and threatened
Not really. I watched multiple true crime stories covering Cindy's suspicious death and listened to various podcasts. I also listened to one of the recorded messages and it's quite clear that whoever rang Cindy was a female trying to disguise her voice. It's very convenient that she never remembered anything, so she couldn't be caught in a lie while answering the questions. Also, whoever was allegedly stalking her was smart enough to avoid police surveillance, but tried to attack when she was staying with her friends?? And was conveniently waiting on the side walk to be seen? On that note - the police concluded that the fire started from inside of the house because everything was locked and there was no sign of a force entry. Plus, it had been reported that Cindy's stalker story didn't start when she divorced her husband, she was paranoid for years prior, talking about incidents that never took place.
she happened to be dating a cop on and off during this time but there’s not a lot of info about him. i would not be surprised if he had done it and the police department tried to cover it up to protect their own. it wouldn’t be the first time that has happened.
I was thinking that maybe a cop was involved with the amount of bs they were pulling. Her having a relationship with a cop would make sooo much sense. Thanks for putting this out there.
@Pops I’ve worked as a nurse for 8 years and those medications and heavily guarded and checking in and out (most places under video surveillance since the opioid epidemic) I agree I think it’s the ex husband and not a random cop but it’s just as easy for a cop to get it as a psychiatrist (which they don’t prescribe opioids as far as I’m aware) But I was just answering your questions of how a cop COULD get morphine.
@@ASMRKay_ This case occurred in Canada in the 1980s before the opioid crisis. The fact that her ex-husband was found lurking in her back yard does seemingly make him appear guilty.
The cop's name was Pat McBride. He was the first officer called out to Cindy's house when the incidents first started. They developed a romantic relationship (inappropriate) and he even moved in with her! Even worse, Pat McBride has been convicted of sexually assaulting two women, but the police cleared him of involvement in Cindy's case. Very suspish.
He’s a psychiatrist. The needle part makes A LOT of sense. He knew where to go with it. It was the ex husband or someone trying to frame him, which seems super unlikely.
Also since he’s a psychiatrist he would know how to drive her to insanity or at least make it seem like she was because he deals with people that are ill

At this point, the ex husband could have fully confessed to stalking her and the police would still be like “nahh it’s definitely not you” -__-

I’ve been in law enforcement for over 10 years and half way through the video I had the same thought. I haven’t done any research on this but going just off of her story, this doesn’t sound like basic police incompetence but more like purposeful negligence.
This is what I was thinking!
Cindy actually had a lover, Pat McBride who was part of the police department. My money is on him as well! He wouold've easily been able to avoid police detection since he would've been watching her the same time as the police, knew when the police were monitoring her phone, etc. and made sure some "evidence" was never followed up on!
reminds me of "unbelievable" on Netflix, SO frustrating

Why would she be scared to tell her family, she must’ve know how much power this guy had. Could be why the police claimed her as lier.
She didn't die of strangulation though. She died from a morphine overdose. So actually it's possible.
These cops should be held accountable for all the horrible things that happened to Cindy.
I agree. But of course they got away with such incompetence. It also wouldn't have surprised me if they were bought off by the ex.
This video came out exactly 1 year ago today and Bailey has now gone from 2 million subs to 5.3 million! Congrats Bailey
excuse me but the fact that the cops didn't belive her EVEN AFTER SHE DIED WITH HER HANDS TIED BEHIND HER STRANGLED-
I feel like they believed then but didn't want to admit they were wrong
Yeah that........ unbelievable...........,
@Avalon 2 as we should..... Who's watching the watchers?
Then they'd have to admit accountability tho. We know how often that happens.
I would never mentally survive being attacked that many times. Poor Cindy.
Absolutely
Poor Cindy. There is no way she did this to herself. And to think her ex-husband got off scott-free. Shame on the police!
i feel so bad for cindy she died and they still don’t believe her. may she rest in peace and those who didn’t believe her feel horrible grief and regret and shame until they die
How could the police think she passed the lie detector test because she was so traumatized?? If they think she was faking it all, what traumatized her???? Hmmmmm
Absolutely correct!
Wouldn't that have caused her to fail the polygraph? Polygraph machines work by monitoring your pulse. Reliving trauma would send your heart rate upward significantly.

Then he turned everyone against her, making it seem like she had problems which he fabricated and people believed, to explain away all the weirdness that was happening to this poor woman.

And they never thought “how is this girl getting INJECTABLE MORPHINE?” Like.... sir, a doctor can get those ? The same one who she’s accusing.
She was a nurse. Remember Grant and the Webcam Girl, he was a nurse and got caught stealing injectable narcotics.
I just looked it up and psychiatrists can prescribe opiates... I didn’t know that but apparently they can.
Staci North he’s the wrong kind of doctor to have access to that but he definitely did it

I would've sued them! Seriously! Policemen on this case were LAZY and IMCOMPENTANT!
And so that she couldn't remember who it was injecting her. I think it was the cop she was dating.
What makes me so mad is that why would she do all that she did such as moving, polygraphs, changing her last name, all of that just for it to be herself doing it. Ugh.
Stringing up dead cats on her own porch? Making threatening letters to herself? Putting herself in a ditch? No way.

U forgot to mention her entire family was threatened. It wasn't just herself that was in danger.
The fact they could even entertain the idea she killed herself is ridiculous!

Even worse, Pat McBride has been convicted of sexually assaulting two women, but the police cleared him of involvement in Cindy's case. Very suspish.
As a DV survivor, I’ve often said “no one believes us until we are killed”…. I guess that’s not even always the case. RIP
This is awful. This makes 0 sense. How could she have tied her own hands behind her back AND strangled herself?? How? Ugh.
Yeah! (Unless she had telekinesis, or something like that.)
@@christopherhorn1161 yeah child rapists have that special ability but not humans.
Yay! We missed you. Glad you got a break but we still missed you.
Yeahhh

Unfortunate i suppose so 👁👄👁

He’s a psychiatrist. The needle part makes A LOT of sense. He knew where to go with it. It was the ex husband or someone trying to frame him, which seems super unlikely.
Also since he’s a psychiatrist he would know how to drive her to insanity or at least make it seem like she was because he deals with people that are ill
I agree
It was a woman's voice in the telephone calls. She was stalked by a woman (maybe by a group of people but if so, at least 1 woman is in that group of people because a female voice can be heard in the voice mail and telephone).
Therapists use needles I know this cause my dad is a psychiatrist and he doesn’t use needles
@@imagine1145 this is completely false. Therapist are not licensed to even prescribe medication let alone trained how to administer an injectable.
That being said I’m also not familiar with any psychiatrist just injecting their patients, especially not with morphine. But unlike therapist, psychiatrist are licensed to write prescriptions which is typically why a person would choose and psychiatrist over a psychologist.
Watching this a year later and seeing her now at 6 million something just makes me so happy that soo many others are enjoying her as much as I have since Pretty much day one!! She’s just soo amazing! Congrats girl!!!! Soo happy for you!!!
Why is no one talking about how Agnes’ husband ran outside when the house was on fire and said he saw a man STANDING OUTSIDE STARING AT THE HOUSE AND TOOK OFF RUNNING!! That doesn’t seem like coincidence... and If Cindy was doing it to herself, the friend wouldn’t have decided to make up a story about a man out front...right? That seems like it backs up Cindy at least a little bit!
That’s the main thing I thought about. She had others to corroborate her story.
It does make a lot of sense but that police department was useless I must say lazy, very sad story indeed.
I was thinking if it weren't the ex-husband could it still have been someone close to her? Like Agnes, another friend? Stalkers aren't always strangers as was once thought 🤔
That made me freeze in fear..
that’s what i was thinking!!!! did that man not tell anyone about the guy staring at the house and then running away?!?!? that just speaks that someone was up to something. also the fact that her hands were tied behind her back and then strangled? how can someone physically do that?
I’m amazed at how after her passing, the cops still try to blame her. They had no evidence against the husband? Oh gee wonder why 🤦🏽♀️
Definitely hubs because the minute she reported him, he killed her basically.
Yesss exactly I think it’s the doctor , she was happy to even leave him and move on
and he had his excuse ready, he knew the police would believe him, a dOcTor over her. He made her crazy so he could have an easy escape during the questions they asked him
i have just listened to the rather lengthy audiobook on this case called "Death by unknown event" i was so gripped by the tale that i came looking for more ty Bailey for including this in your portfolio. i do understand that you have limited time to cover it but the book gives so many more details such as the fact that one of the cops actually became besotted with her too and moved in for a month
“Like most Monday’s” 😂 Girl it feels like so long when that off Monday hits. But always worth the wait!
It really does. As soon as it said she posted I was here😂
It’s a full TWO weeks, also I have been around a while before she started taking a much needed off day, so it feels like a year before the next vid🙃

AxxL what??? You ok?
@@seajay2157 there is always one 😂
This is so confusing. How is this woman beating tf out her self, strangling herself, injecting herself w morphine and tying her hands behind her back? She could’ve survived if the officers ego would allow them to accept being wrong
i went into this thinking it was about bailey and i was very concerned
Ellie Gilmartin never I love her😭
Police have been telling me the same story!!! Makes no kind of sense does it!!! 😷😎😷
She could’ve survived if they did their job when she first came to them. This is honestly so sad.
Exactly!!
