I agree with Mike's comment about the 12. It's a classic Speyside profile, perfectly made, and good value. The bottom line is Glenfiddich are a great distillery but their market is not the Whisky Tube geeks like us. They have a very successful purchaser in the 'normal' world. I accept it but it kind of breaks my heart that such a great distillery offers such morsels for serious whisky appreciators. Narb says it's no better than the 12 but considering value it's 60-65.
Totally agree. The distillery has the potential, but I'm not seeing it in their bottles at the right price for now. I avoid their expressions all together. I would certainly consider an independent bottler at cask strength.
Well 40% might work well for Champagne drinkers but I need a bit more. I agree 46% would be a big help but you rarely get that from this GF. Always fun to hear about a whisky I probably won’t try.
I've tastes this at a festival and was very unimpressed my hopes where very high for this one but for me and my friends this was a massive let down I fully agree with your comments, great review 🥃
I just started to try to educate myself on a what a good tasting/ valuable whiskey is. The reason being is that I am close to having the money to redoing the basement in my very first house. And as part of the celebration, I want to have a nice expensive whiskey as a centerpiece to share with friends. This was one that caught my attention. I'm a guy who buys Rolling Rock. That's what I like, so... I wouldn't know what a good alcohol was if it punched me in the mouth. Johnny Walker Blue is pretty much what I know as something to consider. But what would you guys suggest for me? I like the description of the taste you gave on this. But $300 for it... You didn't seem to agree. Suggestions?
Hi guy's. This is reminding me of a independent Glenfiddich 23 I got from K&L at the end of 2020 so wondering if you got one of them too? Hector Macbeth 1997 (teaspooned Glenfiddich) 23 yr cask strength that was two 19 yr old refill hogsheads put into a 2nd fill sherry butt for 4 more yrs. It was a wonderful $120 bottle and wish I had bought 3. Cheers
We did get one and We actually meant to bring that out during this review to compare but we totally forgot. Def an excellent bottle and epic price. Cheers!!
Its very elegant and meant for someone looking for a smooth drinking experience. If thats what your looking for then you will love it. I know many people who love it
Have you guys considered making a tiktok? I’m not really suggesting it but there are many accounts with chopped down versions of full UA-cam videos and you might increase some general popularity. Or whatever.
I had a very similar experience with the 26 Grand Couronne, except even more disappointing since it’s $600!! Worst mistake I have made along my whisky journey. While it’s a little higher abv at 43.xx %, it’s rather bland, overly sweetened and has a very short finish. A decent $100 bottle, but that’s about it. Not impressed with modern Glenfiddich - they are clearly catering to a different audience. Shame really, but just as well there is plenty of quality whisky out there.
I've seen this in my store. I''m not a fan of champagne, so I have no interest. Way overpriced. It's marketing just like the Ice expression. Save your money for independent bottles. Great review.
Very good video.
Thank you!

They are def catering to the "smooth" whisky crowd, which is the majority of course.

Hey Hoh Gentlemen. Great and smart honest review.
Thank you very much for sharing this Champ....😁
Stay healthy, stay safe....greetings Moses
Thank you buddy!!!

For sure, just not made for us!!
Agree. I like reviews of stuff I'm not going to buy. You guys help on that front. 😀
Champagne for the whiskylover: Vilmart Coeur de cuvée. Very hard to find … Challenge?

Thank you! Unimpressed is the perfect way to describe it

Fantastic review guys. Dont hold back on these overhyped drams! They deserve every bit of constructive criticism! Thanks :)
Thanks bud!!
Have you guys reviewed Glenmorangie Signet yet?
Not a huge fan honestly so we wont be buying a bottle.
I just tried the Glenfiddich 25 at my mates house, and was pretty disappointed. This sounds like it's along a similar vein.
100%
I suspect anything that follows RM Brora 1972 is going to take a beating. Glenfiddich is not for us although the 30 is decent if overpriced.
The 30 is def good whisky, your right.
Is excellent the macallan easter?

I Just bought this, now watching this review makes me worry.
I’ll wait for its arrival to see.

@@maltreviews so In comparison to fire and cane, which would you say is better? I'm still to open it since arrival.

Im sorry to hear that. We stayed away from that bottle after trying this one. Ya they are def catering for the "smooth" whisky drinker.
Say what?? Did I just hear you guys say fisibobiloc? Haha byw This bottle is 43 in Changi Airport and other parts of asia.
hahaha!!! I assume the 43% will be better but still
Yep, bought a bottle last week at Taoyuan International with 43%
Delicious. Wouldn't buy another. Integrity bottlings!
I have this Grand Cru selling for $150 located in Seattle
You can expect that from a whisky with an abv content of only 40%.
The second I saw the design of that bottle, I knew this review would be doomed.
lol
And I guess you fell for it there, ha - ha.
yep

100% Thanks Keith!
40% anything isn’t worth it.
Unless its Laphroaig from the 60's lol
@@maltreviews ah yes. Ok. I stand corrected. 😎
