Why judge it on alcohol content BEFORE you drink it? You either like it or not. If it’s 30 and it tastes great or it could be 50 and terrible. Whisky is about the taste not the ABV.

    Hey gents, great video.
I've got a bottle from Dubai airport for around 140 USD and it says 43.2%alc/vol. Perhaps they listened to the customers and released a higher proof version?

That's interesting. I wonder if they released it at a different ABV in different markets. That's not unheard of.... ~Mark

Looks like they now bottle the 21 yr rum cask Gran Reserva in 43.2% ABV. I picked it up at a duty free in Seattle for $170 as a gift for my father in law a few days ago 😊

Loved your review and grabbed myself a bottle as well. I gotta say, thank you for your recommendation. Please review the Glenfiddich Experimental Series #3 Winter Storm. I would love to hear your take on it. I'm interested in how the ice wine would complement the profile of the 21 year old scotch.

I bought a bottle of this and hated it the first time I tried it and put it up thinking I would never break it out again. After it sit for a few months I tried it again and actually liked it and appreciated it being something different!

I believe Glenfiddich bought the casks full of rum from Cuba then they decant the rum from the cask on site at glenfiddich then put there ages whisky in the cask.

I am not a big fan of Glenfiddich, not sure why, I get lots of sharp tastes. Anyway, I liked the Solera, but was wondering when you tasted this one, did it say"Yes I am a Glenfiiddich" and how does it compare to the Balvenie Carribean Cask?

    • @carscigarsscotchnwatches5158
      @carscigarsscotchnwatches5158 6 років тому +3

Everwind, there is no sharpness with this one. It is buttery smooth with a nice fruity character. It is truly a great scotch and it would be awesome bottled at a higher abv. I have had two bottles and loved them both. The Carribean cask will be much sharper than this. However, the caribbean cask is half the price and I don't think this glenfiddich is twice as good. In my opinion, no $100+ whisky should be 40% abv. 43 should be minimum when you pay that much. Still, it is a great scotch

I've been working through a bottle of this for about a year. I agree with Andrew, you really have to flood the palette with this @ 40% abv but I think that is what is was designed for. I'm not a big Rum finish guy, seems the new fad these days but this is great in the right mood. When I got mine it was $155 but has since gone up to about $175 so I won't be replacing it. Glenfiddich is doing a lot of nice things with their Experimental range and actually have a 21yo finished in Icewine barrels @ 43% abv out now called Winter Storm that sounds interesting if you can find it($200).

A few moments later: *adding water to it*
It is so funny watching these kind of ramblers... 🤡 Just rate it how it was bottled. Do not talk crap about it being at low ABV and then proceed to making it even more watery.

The Liquor control broad of Ontario (LCBO) is a largest purchaser of liquor in the world, yet with all their buying power and discounts they still set prices like that. Quite the racket they're running up here.

    Hey Guys:
I finally got a bottle of GLENFIDDICH 12 a couple weeks back at a tasting. I meant to post my notes sooner but time got away from me.
    SLÁINTE
    Mike
GLENFIDDICH 12 yr. old Single Malt Speyside Scottish Whisky
    7/27/19
Left the Whisky sit in the glass for 30 minutes to open up.
    40%ABV
COLOR: Light Gold similar to filtered Apple Cider. Many Legs running swiftly
NOSE: Floral notes, with a light hard candy sweetness underneath. A fresh breeze?? note appears as it sits in the glass.
PALETE: A light to medium mouthfeel with a light floral note with spiciness underneath
FINISH: A sweet note going down followed by a mildly spicy and drying sense, a light pepper tingles my tongue.
With 1 drop of spring water
    NOSE: Floral notes become stronger.
PALETE: A light sweet candy note comes to the fore followed by pepper spice. The mouthfeel is a little creamier?? The floral note underpins.
FINISH: More intensely spicy with tingling on my tongue and there is a bit of numbness; resolving to a mouthwatering sense.
Wow! This was an interesting experience! This is the first time, I prefer the spirit with water and at 40% ABV? The one drop made it a bit more complex to the Palete and Finish. It even made the floral note stronger in the Nose. At 40% ABV, I was light with my dropper. This is a nice warm weather whisky. The overall feel is light with floral notes and light sweet hard candy notes mixing in. A nice glass to relax with.
