Freddy Got Fingered is a 2001 American surrealist black comedy film directed by Tom Green and written by Green and Derek Harvie. The film follows Green as a 28-year-old slacker who wishes to become a professional cartoonist. The film's plot resembles Green's struggles as a young man trying to get his TV series picked up, which would later become the popular MTV show The Tom Green Show.

This is a true story- that ending nearly DID get the film an NC17. Green, deeming that rating "porn, with murder", literally sent the scene back unchanged, except the kid was ADRd the line "I'm okay, guys!". *And the MPAA accepted that.*
“Ratings are a joke”
Reminds me of a story about Eric Andre trying to get past the censors on his show- apparently Adult Swim gave him, amongst other guidelines, that, quote, "He can shit so hard that organs fall out of his anus, but he *can’t* make it look like he’s *intentionally* doing it."

That moment when I realized that the reason “The Real Slim Shady” is playing at the end is because one of the lyrics is “But it’s ok for Tom Greene to hump a dead moose”.
Wow, Tom embraces this! ... Wonder how he's doing now.

But it wasn't ok. And it never would be.

That Charles Schultz joke is deliberately darker than people realize- he died just briefly before this film was made. When his mother says "you'll be fine" she's literally referring to his death.
Oh shit dude

Just imagine how it would feel to make a movie as bad as possible in the hopes of winning Razzy awards, just for Adam Sandler to get all ten without even trying just 11 years later

Think about Disney's target audience. Imagine Mary Poppins singing some uptempo song about child rape. Disney has very tight image control and the tweets aren't family friendly
To be fair, not 14 million dollars, but James Gunn also got paid to make movies like his tweets.

It's not just that he wanted to make an intentionally bad movie, it was also an act of protest against the Hollywood machine itself. Basically at the time Tom Green was basically one of the most famous comedians in the world, with The Tom Green Show being a huge hit and his podcast-esque sister show Tom Green's House Tonight also being around or at the very least it was on the way. So being "the big thing" some big Hollywood studio comes to Tom Green and says "alright look the kids like you, we don't know why, but fuck it here's $1 million dollars. Go make a movie, it can be about anything you want as long as it only costs $1 million. Now scram!" and Tom's like "Anything I want eh?"
If The Room was a train wreck, this was a demolition derby.
That is a stunningly good way to put it
The Room was supposed to be a serious drama. Tom Green wasn't aiming for that.

I like to think we aren’t actually seeing The Nostalgia Critic here, but rather Doug himself, driven mad by this film to the point where he has adopted his alternate persona. He realizes he cannot escape this endless cycle of trash and thus accepts his fate with open arms, longing that one day he may be freed from his curse.
Sun Guy geez, didn’t know someone could be so offended by a joke. I don’t think this is some supper artsy thing he did purposely, I’m just making that a joke.

Sun Guy wow so salty
Thank you! I was really struggling on this review. But wouldn't there have been better ways to demonstrate this? For instance The Godfather. Humor in this isn't the important but rather with The Descent. So you could show Doug being charged further and further down into the bowels of this movie until finally he is left no choice but to accept it , to become part of the very thing that he was trying to fight against. At the end of the review, he could have killed those who he was talking about how bad the movie was as daddy do you want some sausages play over and then he closes the door starting the movie up again the signifying that he has become one with the movie. Or if you really wanted to start at the end, Citizen Kane it. Just if you're going to reference from the great movies and contrast to Freddy Got Fingered in such a way that shows the descent into madness, their films are do a much better job of that.

“Freddy Got Fingered” made over $14M at the box office (which was more than its budget.) Of course, more people saw it at the theaters than the box office figures show (like double or triple the number). Kids would buy tickets to “Crocodile Dundee 3” then sneak into FGF. There’s no way CD3 would have made almost $40M if not for FGF.
Wait if kids paid for a different film to go see it then that means enough people went to see it willingly aside from them to make that profit in spite of the critical mauling, AND then more people got into it over time to make it a cult classic in comparison to how many people saw it to begin with!

One of Critic's best reviews/ parodies.
As a kid, I watched this movie with the commentary on and there are some little fun facts about some of the scenes that were pointed out in this review. According to Tom, the "my ear just popped" thing was completely improvised because his ear actually did pop in the scene from chewing gum. Also, the surgery footage that Eddie Kaye Thomas's character Freddy was watching was actually the footage of Tom's cancer surgery.
So if Tom Green set out to make such a bad movie, doesn't that mean he's technically made his own perfect film? He accomplished his goal, didn't he? He did it. He broke the scale of So Bad It's Good

Daddy*
Damn, Tamara's really good at dramatic acting
yea just like every other person in high school drama
Agreed! She could actually try like...real acting, and probably be incredible!
Overlord she is doing real acting. Just because Hollywood is the main source of media doesnt mean it's the only one. I think what Doug and the rest of the indie you tubers are doing is awesome. Tamara is great I wish her the best if she ever does get picked up by a major studio it will be sad to see her go
Totally shes much better than rachel.
Overlord Whoa whoa whoa, let’s take it easy there
Tom Green in this movie is making Dana Carvey in Master of Disguise look like a great multiple characters actor, Adam Sandler a Oscar performance comedian in Jack and Jill, and Eddie Murphy performance as Pluto Nash a master piece......
I know was intended to be not only bad but THE WORST, still is impressive this movie was produced by 3 people, 3 people throw money to Tom Green to direct and act in this rotten egg of a movie, did they though they would get money back or something positive out of this? Is just amazing the stupidity of people in some movies or shows, but this, this is downright "I don't give a shit about my career or my life choices anymore" bad.
It is ironic that this film, the worst film ever, was made at the end of the so-called dark age of movies. In 2001.
That means The Room hasn't come close to becoming the worst movie of all time.
I'm in post surgery recovery and im binge watching and thumbs upping a bunch of your videos. This one has got me glued to the screen!! Love all the hard work that went into this episode!
At first I thought you were going to say you were watching Freddy Got Fingered post surgery. I can't imagine watching that movie right after having surgery, omg. I'm not often a fan of censorship, but the censorship in this video is a blessing.
@Zoya Dulzura 🤣🤣 I didn't, but now I'm kinda wishing I did, lol.
This is no joke.
Me and some friends had a movie night, where we chose a movie each to watch. My friend, Victor brought this movie... after the movie, we cancelled the night and we never spoke to him again.
Leo Caldwell you made the right choice.
You did the right thing. People who like this movie deserves to have no friends.
This movie actually destroys relationships.
Your loss, he is welcome to hang out with us. I played this on my birthday one year
Smart choice
I’m pretty sure the lines in the movie where “Gord” is talking about the budget for his “cartoon” it’s literally just Tom Green directly talking about how he basically threw the studio’s money in the garbage by making an intentionally bad film. The entire film reeks of a guy that was pushed into making a movie when he didn’t want to and turned the whole thing into a sarcastic response to the business side of making a movie.
Oh, like Miss March!
Exactly
Hell, just look at the cover of the DVD. It's literally just Tom doing the camera frame thing with his fingers *at* the viewer lülz
Did he really have to make the WORST GODDAMN scene in the history of the Universe!?! What did the viewers do to deserve the punishment he intended for the industry!?!
Proud? Proud. My favourite line in any cinematic masterpiece.
this is 37 minutes of "that's the joke!"
Yep
Well, now I finally know what Freddy Got Fingered is.
And I wish I could go back to when I didn't. It was a simpler time.
imagine being around when Tom Green was popular
Nah, watch it. It's great.
It’s a good movie when you just want a weird ass good time
When Rip Torn was on his death bed and was asked if he had any regrets.
".......Freddy Got Fingered, maybe."
This is what kills him between MIB 2 &3
Hand sanitizer?
Lol 😂😂
MAYBE!!!???
he actually said tom green is one of the best directors he ever worked with
Tom Green Ran so Eric Andre could ran faster
I turned away for 5 secs and I turn around to “daddy would you like some sausage” with sausages on strings and with a piano. This weed is mighty powerful.
Tom Green is Canada's punishment? I thought it was Justin Bieber.
Actually, on second thought, they both are.
Bieber is Canada's Herpes. Green at least has some charm underneath the raunchyness.
@@dnmstarsi what charm
@@jarrodedson5441 If you watched this review, the answer is there.
Bieber makes Tom Green seem like a saint by comparison
Canada is secretly very hateful and wishes harm on the world. But it's still Canada so their weapons are Tom Green, Justin Bieber, and coldfronts.
I'm terrified of what is behind that censor bar.
Buy the movie for yourself...*trollface*
Seen it. It's not worth it
Me too
damn pc millennials missed this amazing oddity of a movie
I thought everwing dragons had no fear! Was i wrong?
There is something about Rip Torn's delivery at 18:10 that has me just laughing and laughing as I keep replaying it. In this stupid, surreally stupid, feature-length exercise in trolling, it feels like a rare authentic reaction: Opening your shower door and seeing ... that.
Tom Green seems to be the prototype for Instagram "comedians" as in having the mindset of loud/shocking=funny
You realize you’re posting this comment on a Nostalgia Critic video, right?
@@usedcarsalesman6723 Fair enough, but at least the Critic has an idea of what makes something funny
DaDewd2112 Thats debate-able but to each their own
@@usedcarsalesman6723 His jokes aren't just screaming or "relatable", their are some jokes that actually took more than like 20 seconds to think of
DaDewd2112 Eh, no Doug has a TON of low effort jokes. Also Tom Green’s MO has never been about being “relatable”
For the longest time I thought this was a nightmare on elm street sequel...
Lmao
This movie was relentlessly advertised on one website during the period of it's release for a viral marketing campaign. Can you guess which website?
Newgrounds. Of course it was Newgrounds.
I have lost any respect I once held for that site, and now wish to vacate my head of all early internet memories of it.
Lilith Henry
Grow up...
That was nearly 2 decades ago, they learned by now.
Where would we be today without a creative platform that doesn’t regulate anything?

Kazakhstan. So, Aladeen or Aladeen?
Pleasure Island?
