Absolutely right man! What they're doing with their prices is insane. They produce good and beautiful knives (mostly) but their actual pricing policy is out of control!
As far as ridiculous markups are concerned, Shirogorov must be the craziest! I have purched 5 clones of Shirogorov knives, made by Green Thorn, for about $50 each. They are not marked Shirogorov, so I don’t consider them to be fakes. Guess what? The clones are IDENTICAL to the originals, in terms of quality, action, and is most other ways, FOR 1/20 (5%) OF THE COST OF THE ORIGINAL… Talk about ridiculous markups! That said, no doubt costs are higher in Russia than in China, but it’s hard to pay $1000, for what is readily available for $50! That said, I did buy an original Shirogorov knife recently (a Quantum Ursus), brand new, and guess what? I don’t like it all that much…
I purchased a Hogue Deka in Magnacut online for $120. They've gone up since but still below the Bugout. And with Magnacut. I have several Benchmade knives. I have no plans to buy anymore.
Not to mention, there’s TRM that make infinitely better knives than Benchmade, all USA made, are a small, family owned company with THE BEST people in the industry and even their full titanium knives (the machining on which is miles ahead of some plain bead blasted scales like the bailout) don’t reach a $600 price tag. This is shameful on Benchmade’s part.

This needed to be said and thank you for doing so! I already see videos of people that know better that still purchased this overpriced product which is not helping in anyway to get Benchmade to realize that this is not okay
This trend of making things titanium to over priced them has also hit the flashlight industry and boxcutters paying 200 for a titanium box cutter is ridiculous too.
$200 is about as high as I go .. I really don’t believe any knife is worth more that that. K there’s a point where is becomes about max profit and it makes me 🤢

These days you can get a Hinderer or Chris Reeves on the aftermarket for under $500. Only reason to buy a benchmade at that level is if you have some extra money and dont mind throwing it away.
Benchmade has a monthly contest where someone wins a knife. I wonder if anyone actually wins a knife, or if it's just a scam. Has there been any winners?
I understand your rant. When you deal with larger corporations. You will find higher prices. These companies also have a larger overhead to cover. If they don't raise prices to cover all overhead..Costs. e.t.c. And be able to make a profit. The company will not survive. So when you buy these larger brand names. You are buying ...Their innovation. And of course their name. Benchmade has an industry crushing warranty. I highly doubt you will find that and the customer support with these small companies.
And at some point that overhead cost needs to be managed better, because people are starting to buy elsewhere. Also, they haven’t innovated since 2019 other than their prices

I used to like benchmades knives. I have 4 of them. I just stopped because I didn’t see them even try to evolve. Same weak springs. Same wonky heat treats on steel. Sure the warranty is good but the competition is doing better for less. American made with better materials, better fit/finish, better action, & better pricing.
I bought the OG bugout in 2018 for 114$. They now want 180$ and that before tax and shipping. I bought my 3v bailout new on Knife Swap for 125$. I would buy the nicest Ti scales from rock island for 200$ and be way happier.
Good morning, brother! Benchmade have lost me completely. The Bugout family of knives had already been more expensive over here in Germany, so the increase NOW is even more severe. The Narrows starts around 570€ (600$ Plus x) and I'm a bit hesitant to search for the Ti Bailout. Only a week ago my latest knife hit the shelves (Titanium Slipjoint with Böhler's M390) for 220€. Less than just the up charged price from BM without the scales... It's completely nuts! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Greetings from Germany! Andi
Instead of the Bugout, check out the Hogue Deka 2. It's extremely similar to the Bugout, made in the US, has Magnacut steel and a crossbar lock. You can usually get them for about $140 USD. They have a weird Wharncliffe style and a standard drop point style. I've used mine for everything for a year and a half, and it's like new. Thin, light, well built, with better steel for significantly lower cost.

Well said.. thank you!! 😊
I couldn't agree more, and so does Tristate.... I think
The last thing I bought from Benchmade was a Bugout with a combo edge that was on sale for under $100.
$600!!!!! Benchmade is out of their friggin minds!!!!! No way in Hell would I ever pay that. I have Benchmade knives but if they keep going down this road, I'll never buy another knife from them ever again.
Tristate flood sent me here. Glad he did. Looking forward to seeing your content.
When I hear the letters BM, two things come to mind 🦋 💩 in with the Tristate crew
nice analysis of the market
I'm here for the Benchmade comments.
Ditto!
Charging anthem prices for average Benchmade trash
I used to like benchmades knives. I have 4 of them. I just stopped because I didn’t see them even try to evolve. Same weak springs. Same wonky heat treats on steel. Sure the warranty is good but the competition is doing better for less. American made with better materials, better fit/finish, better action, & better pricing.
"Yes, He's shitting on Benchmade!" Best Tristate quote ever.🤣😂
@@adx442 thank you so much for the recommendation! I really like the looks of the Deka and it seems to be a great choice, but it's not so easy to find tor a decent price here in Germany. But I'm going to keep my eyes open. 👌🏻

May I ask what slipjoint that is?
@@benm4290 oh, of course... It's the TuyaKnife BLACKBEARD V2.0. Mr. Dave Warren from TuyaKnife US would be your contact.
💯agree! Benchmade can keep their knives as far as I’m concerned. The only way a big company will pay any attention is for the consumer to stop getting caught up in the hype and stop buying their product at these ridiculous prices!
Nice Video! Agreed 100%!
So I got the og blue handle for 115$ and it’s like 160$ now it’s crazy
