This snowflake law is soon going to be applied to drone usage. If your drone flight causes h/a/d the police will be able to give you a fixed penalty notice. This avoids wasting the court’s time and enables the police to stop virtually anyone flying if they so wish.

If he has mental health issues I feel for him as this is very debilitating and causes lots of issues for families and close ones. However if this is the case ignorance of the law is no excuse as the police tell us all the time. The police officer getting close and trying to escalate was way out of line and should always try to calm the situation. Raised emotions and feelings with no real Investigation or legislation no law broken is what was wrong. Suspicious only opinions without evidence anyone can suspect but saying on camera you are in public and you are aloud end of conversation. Instead acted on feelings and emotions because of alarm and destress a new job might be needed.

What a great example of argumentative, ignorant and arrogant policing. The accusations of what you were doing (not listening!), HA&D (them not listening even though they're wrong!) and just generally being A Holes should be proof enough for a complaint. The arrest was completely fabricated and illegal. If they're saying that the Inspector acted the way he did because of mental health, then it proves a grave error has been made.

  • @mark.k7206

The Inspector was no worse than the others on display, so its utter nonsense. If he was suffering mental, issues, then get the Police to confirm that this was his final working shift with the force, get them to confirm when he was 1st given mental counselling, to see if this corresponds to the date of your visit. But most importantly, if an Inspector was suffering these issues why was he even allowed to work. This could have been a day of a major incident & having an Inspector on duty at this time is gross negligence by the police force in question

He didn't appear to be behaving erratically or spouting word salad, so the 'mental health' thing must be that he was feeling a bit tired of doing his job or just plain didn't know his backside from his elbow.

If the Inspector is sighting mental health issues for his conduct and lack of knowledge of the law, what excuse have the other two got? The one with the face mask was clearly escalated the situation, and deliberately stepped closer to you, attempting to provoke you to touch him - which he stated would be treated as assault, for which he would arrest you. There clearly was no crime. No one was harassed, alarmed or distressed. They all need adult nappies and retraining.

It doesn't matter if Insp. Hardon suffered from mental health issues. He did what he did. End of. To be honest, I cannot sense mental health issues being the issue, as he is duty-bound to report it if he feels it's the case. Mental health isn't something that starts with a click of fingers. It takes time to roll up, and I cannot believe that he's behaving any differently than he has in the past. If you listen to him, it's mostly ingrained 'facts', & a wish to impress by trying to do something different. He did & he failed. Miserably.

Only one person in this is subject to alarm and distress and needs to report them and make sure all 3 officers that caused this face legal action and dispilinary action for gross misconduct. The police seem to be the only employer in this country that allows employees to behave in this way.

It makes you wonder if the inspector can not understand that if someone feels alarmed or distressed buy somebody else performing a legal activity, it is their issue. Or if the inspector is so bent that he knows it’s not an offence but is willing to abuse and misuse powers.
The inspector should explain to the “distressed” person that there is nothing to worry about. The issue is with the irrational person feeling alarmed and distressed, the inspectors immediate action should be to address them and not the person carrying out a perfectly legal activity.
Unfortunately, even inspectors in the police are generally less intelligent than the average human. It appears they are also very willing to break rules and make unlawful arrests.

Wow! What unprofessional, corrupt scumbags. Pushing for an arrest. Getting in your face then saying don't touch don't touch!! Wow. This is the face of our police. They represent the force. That behaviour is obviously acceptable to them. Despicable behaviour. I hope their family members have seen this.

If he made it to inspector, that is how you shift a problem...promote and transfer, obviously, he's as useful as a snooze button on a smoke alarm, but it's the higher-up's decision.

He made it to inspector because he joined as inspector under the senior officer’s enlistment program not having done a day’s policing in his career

Classic attempted intimidation tactics by the thugs in blue. The Inspector should never have been on duty.
