The Ghost Division was the nickname of the 7th Panzer Division in the Wehrmacht (German Army in WW2). The name comes from the invasion of France in 1940 when under the command of the famous General Erwin Rommel the division drove forward so quickly and unexpectedly that neither the Allied nor German high command knew where they were, attacking as if they appeared from nowhere.
Thanks for what seems to be a elaborate and complete description
@@MogulMonk1 it's accurate. I've studied this extensively in the past. I study military history as a passion.
@Vi De Yup I can second this.
This is Woodstock festival in Poland
Actually it's the Heer, which is the German Army. Wehrmacht is the German Armed Forces, which includes the Heer (Army), Kriegsmarine (Navy), and the Luftwaffe (Air Force).
You have to appreciate the craziness that goes on here. Hundreds of thousands polish people in the audience goes totally bananas and sing along in a piece that tells the story about a German panzer division during second world war. The division actually fought in Poland during the later stage of the war. As we all know about the atrocities the German army and SS committed in Poland, one can think it would be a hard thing for a Polish crowd to appreciate. But no, Sabaton in their absolute objectivity in not picking sides on who is good and who is bad or glorifying war can make people on one side not only appreciate their music but also go totally nuts in songs portraying their former archenemy. That's what Sabaton does every day.
They are cheering because they are going west 😏
@Anders WELL SAID! Much Love!
They are from my country Sweden.
The concert ...... Woodstock, Poland 2012. Crowd ...... 550.000 people
Sabaton is from Sweden 🇸🇪
12:13 Rommel’s 7th Panzer division, aka the Ghost Division, lead the Blitzkrieg into France. They went a day earlier than scheduled and by nightfall had gone beyond the French lines. The craziest part - they were stopped by a French platoon, Rommel showed that he was the ultimate BS’er, he convinced the French that they were the ones that had strayed behind the German line and they surrendered (one of the reasons the French had that reputation for waving the white flag).
Sabaton have a dedicated history channel cohosted by presenter, actor and historian Indy Neidell, which they explore the real stories behind their songs. They write the songs from a neutral perspective, not siding with anyone, not glorifying one side over the other, just “this is what happened”. Their last two albums (Great War and The War To End All Wars) are both exclusively about stories and events from World War One. The songs are very well written, but it’s the music videos that stand out… they have the look and feel of big budget movie productions!
As for Sabaton as a live act - one of the best! I saw them in 2020 (just before the pandemic shut everything down), and I’m going to see them again in a couple of weeks… they open all their shows with Ghost Division, and they maintain the same energy right through the show, even with the amount of pyrotechnics blasting around the stage and pillars of fire cooking the crowd!
Check out 40:1 from this same show (Poland Woodstock 2012), the song is about a group of Polish soldiers heavily outnumbered that held back the German Wehrmacht for a few days… it celebrates the gallantry of those soldiers against insurmountable odds, and as the show is in Poland, the crowd understandably resonates with it! Sabaton are capable of making you feel patriotic for another country for the duration of a song, so imagine what they do for those who’s country it is.
Well said. Happy to see someone educate ppl a bit in the comments.
Sabaton are a swedish metal band, the concert are in Poland at the Woodstock Festival.
Sabatons songs always are about historical facts from all around the world.
They are history geeks, and masters of storytelling.
Can you please check the Sabaton song "7 Pillars of Wisdom", its the story about the Brittish officer Thomas E. Lawrence who led the Arab revolt against the Turks during WW1 and later became known as Lawrence of Arabia.
A great Sabaton song.
600 000 happy Polish people singing about a German tank Division from WW2 sung by a Swedish band. still blows my mind.
This was filmed at Woodstock Poland 2012 and it was a charity concert.
They released their 10th studio album earlier this year.
Nice thing about them is that their video's never blocked so it's UA-cam safe. (except for some Wacken video's that gets blocked by Wacken)
If you really want to go down the Sabaton rabbit-hole, I would recommend these:
(These are all from the Sabaton Channel, and they never block videos so it's safe to use)
[live at Woodstock 2012]: 40:1 and Uprising
[Great Tour Live Videos]: En Livstied I Krig (make sure to turn subtitles on), Red Baron, Swedish Pagans, Primo Victoria, Fields of Verdun, Devil Dogs & Angels Calling
[Lyric videos]: Attack of the dead men, The Final Solution, In Flanders Fields, 82nd All the way, Sparta, Shiroyama, Cliffs Of Gallipolli and The lost betallion
[Music Video's]: Bismarck, Christmas Truce, Steel Commanders, Defence of Moscow, Livgardet (make sure to turn subtitles on), Fields of Verdun, Rourke's Drift, Screaming Eagles, Uprising, The Future Of Warfare (Building Blocks Video) & Seven Pillars of wisdom
[Animated History Video's]: Night Witches and No Bullets Fly (not animated music video's, the animated history/story video's)
[Covers]: Kingdom Come [Offical video]
and I'm sure people told you but in case, Sabaton have another channel (Sabaton History Channel) where they do a deep dive into the history behind the songs with Indy Nidell.
As per the Sabaton fandom wiki: The song tells about second chapter - "Waging War" in Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" book. Also: "In "Ghost Division" they wrote about the armored division under the command of Erwin Rommel. The guy was not an avid Nazi, he just followed orders, and at the same time he was a great commander who could show a lot of respect to the opponent and his soldiers. I think he managed to remain human after all. Even if he fought on the "wrong side.
WOW that is awesome. I have only read about a quarter of "The Art of War" now I want to finish it lol. Much Love
@@TheNEWReel The entire album The Art of War is based on the book, every song is related to 1 chapter
@@TheNEWReel you should do alot more songs and sabaton also have a history channel where they go in depth about the song and the history behind it
Not to mention that Rommel was also a stormtrooper captain during ww1... that man was a beast on the battlefield
@@willghezzi i love rommel he wasn't really a bad guy and im Australian and in aftrica he greatly respected Australian and new Zealand troops
Pro tip:
Watch their official musicvideo for their song "Christmas Truce", based on the infamous truce that occured over Christmas in WW1.
I agree. It’s listed on UA-cam as SABATON - Christmas Truce (Official Music Video). The official music video is definitely the best version for a reaction. Be sure to listen all the way through; the song continues during the end credits.
I concur
Bismark, then Christmas Truce, to show both sides of how their music is
Great reaction. Sabaton is swedish heavy/power metal band that sings mostly about historical events. Ghost division was the nickname given to Rommel's 7th armoured division during the battle of France in 1940 due to their excessive attack speed. Even their neghbouring units didn't know where the Rommel's units were at that time. Btw, this video from Sabaton's live from 2012 Woodstok festival in Poland, so it was way before Tommy Johanson joins the band as guitarist) in this video the guitarist's name was Tobbe Englund) and also drummer's name in this video is Robban Back. He was short time drummer for Sabaton before current drummer - Haanes Van Dal enters the band to change him due to Robban's departure from the band due to him becoming a father (as far as I know ) and his desire to spend time with the family))
Imagine a world where a Swedish rock band has a Polish crowd jamming along with a song about the German Blitzkrieg.
This is a great comment lol but in all seriousness I love the Love show here. it is beautiful Much Love
Im glad Sabaton is helping people give themselves the history education their school system failed to provide for them.
The Ghost Division (7th panzer division) was commanded by the famous german (later he became) general Erwin Rommel, who was later nicknamed the Desert Fox in the african campaign (you were right about them fighting in africa, just not in this particular song). The name "Ghost Division" comes from the fact they moved so quickly they lost contact with their own leadership and caused havoc in the french backlines, some french units they encountered along the way even mistook them for english reinforcements. The german leadership at one point believed the news of a small german break through the extended Maginot line (fortifications on the border) was a trap set by the french. In short, noone knew where they were, who they were and if they were even real, hence the name.
This was recorded in Poland during the woodstock festival. It was 500.000 people there originally but when sabaton was playing another 250.000 people got there. So there were around 750.000 during this performance 😂
Sabaton- a swedish band that can make a polish crowd go crazy over a German WW2 Tank division invading France
The band should be called Europe, even though there is already an old band named Europe
I wasn't expecting the ghost division.
Neither did the French.
OOOOUF
🤣
Took my son to see them for his 13th birthday a few months ago. They still opened with Ghost Division, and it’s just as awesome as it was back when this video was taken!
that is AWESOME! We try to take our boys to all of the shows we go to. It is super important to expose our youth to all kinds of music especially what they would consider the "oldies" haha Much Love
550-600 000 people was at this concert. It was in Poland. Look at the song 40:1 or Uprising (the same concert) and You will understand :)
They have an actual history channel that tells the real story behind each of their songs. It’s the Sabaton History Channel
Ghost Divisonor known in its formal name the 7th Panzer Division, was a German Tank Division during ww2, they got the name ghost division because during the battle against France and UK they advanced so fast and even the German command didn't know their exact locations, so they got the nickname because you didn't know where they where or if they "existed", its Commander during this series of battles was Erwin Rommel
Great Reaction and great follow-up. Yes, Sabaton is "History Metal". Most of their songs are about history and acts of heroism. This is the Woodstock festival in Poland and the Poles love these guys. Try 40 to 1 or Uprising and see what happens! Sabaton is from Sweden so might try "En Livstid I Krig" live in Gothenburg Sweden it will knock your socks off! Don't forget to put on the subtitles as they sing this one in Swedish. Welcome to the Sabaton Army!
Who won the 1940 tour de France?
The 7th German Tank Division
Oh yeah - my request for the next Sabaton song - Either Bismark or No Bullets Fly
best to get into sabaton
I agree, official music video for Bismarck and animated story video for No Bullets Fly
The 7th Panzer Division was an armored formation of the German Army in World War II. It participated in the Battle of France, the invasion of the Soviet Union, the occupation of Vichy France, and on the Eastern Front until the end of the war. The 7th Panzer Division is also known by its nickname, Ghost Division. The division met with great success in France in 1940 and then again in the Soviet Union in 1941. In May 1942, the division was withdrawn from the Soviet Union and sent back to France to replace losses and refit. It returned to Southern Russia following the defeat at Stalingrad, and helped to check a general collapse of the front in a series of defensive battles as part of Army Group Don, and participated in General Erich von Manstein's counterattack at Kharkov.
Panzer is German for armour and in their language, Germans call tanks panzerkampfwagen which means armoured battle wagon. This word is often shortened to "panzer" so it could be argued that it means both armour and tank. I'm not German so if my understanding is flawed I invite actual Germans to correct me.
as a german you are right. we both call armour and tanks Panzer.
@@derrhawor3061 Thank you for vindicating ^^
Fun fact: Sabaton's drummer, Hannes, is married to Floor Jansen of Nightwish. Floor lent her voice to the closing credits of the music video for Sabaton's song Christmas Truce.
this song about Erwin Rommel and his tank division, they are move so fast from to town, appear-disappear, appear-disappear, like ghosts, that's why they are called "ghost division"
and this is world war 2
No quite but close. (You might have meaning this too.) They got that nickname because they pushed trough the French lines, including mighty "maginot line" while all other German units was still behind it or passing trough where they breached it. They still continued to push farther in faster than the news reached French high command. Once those reports started to flooding in, it seemed like Rommels division was both nowhere and everywhere there by earning them the nickname by the French.
If someone is interested more check out Sabaton History episode on this.
Woodstok festival in Poland, currently called Pol'n'Rock Festival (name change). The number of people at this concert is estimated at 500 000 fans!
Sabaton is from Sweden 🤘🤘🤘
En livstid i krig! Live performance from Gothenburg
With captions. Captions are mandatory.
@@trwortham for none swedish speakers yes captions are mandatory
Ghost Division was the 7th Panzer Division of Nazi-Germany. Their tactics was to show up unexpectedly and just steam-roll through any resistance and be gone by the time reinforcements could arrive. They moved so fast over enemy land no support could keep up and so they had to be their own support and logistics unit as well. They earned their reputation in France and Soviet Union.
I have been a Sabaton fan for over a decade. Sabaton is unique in their way to make music of historic events. Also, they never glorify war, they just tell the story.
This video is from Woodstock 2012 in front of a 500.000 crowd. It was with older band members. Only Joakim and Pär is still remains today..
Current members;
Joakim Broden- leadsinger
Pär Sundström- bass
Tommy johansson- guitar
Chris Rörland- guitar
Hannes Van Dahl- drums
Woodstock Poland
Chris Rörland was also at this show
If you go to a metal festival at least in Europe, you won't be claustrophobic. Just stand back, where the crowd is thinner. The sound will still be amazing. And as someone mentioned in the comments the metalheads are the nicest people ever. If you need something, just ask for help and everyone will try to help.Even share beer, lol. Even if someone drunk AF stumbles in your tent, you sleep with them, become best friends and laugh at embarrassment in the morning. It is the atmosphere
This is concert in Poland :) Greatings from Poland :)
This is from the 2012 Polish Woodstock festival so it has the old lineup. Thobbe Englund on guitars, not Tommy Johanson, and Robban Back on drums instead of Hannes van Dahl (Floor Jansen of Nightwish husband). This was the opener and they maintained the same energy for the entire show. Sabaton live shows are fantastic (I saw them in October in Nashville) with amazing crowd interaction while their videos are epic and high quality. It is obvious these guys are having the time of their lives and love what they are doing. If you continue to explore this rabbit hole you will find incredible metal and get an education at the same time. All of their songs are historically accurate, and they never take sides, just tell the stories. Excellent reaction, keep rocking Sabaton.
Sabaton are from the city of Falun in Sweden
🇸🇪SABATON🇸🇪 ROYAL ACADEMY OF HISTORY ❤ Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱
Ghost Division was named after Field Marshall Erwin Rommels 7th Panzer Divion group that moved so fast into France no one knew where they were #Peace out from South Africa 🎉🍻😋
If I'm not wrong his division also lost contact with their own supply chain who was way in the back and they had to stop because they were running low on fuel
While they were headlining European festivals in front of several hundred thousand people, they were playing clubs in the US. Only last year they did their first American theater tour (2000-3000 seat capacity)
Thats not the stage its the "soundcheck" something. They from Sweden.
Sabaton - You've opened a door you'll never be able to close.
SABATON!!!!!!!!! I l friggin love these guys SO MUCH! I really hope to see you guys do more of them. They're from Sweden and do songs about history from many eras and from many different perspectives. Fun bit of trivia - their current drummer (Hannes) is married to .......Floor Jansen! Got to see them live in a small venue in Pittsburgh this past October and they ABSOLUTELY bring the energy you see in this video, they are SO GOOD live! Tommy was not in the band during this video but you'll see him a lot in the newer ones :-) Thanks for getting these guys on the channel! Always enjoy your reactions!
Do 40:1 ando Uprising from the same concert with a previous background research. Both songs are about polish héroes. You can imagine how the polish crowd reacted to.
If I remember correctly there were around 750.000 people in the audience. Its the Polish Woodstock (might be spelled differently).
Sabaton are from Sweden.
I was there 600.000 people crowd
If you like to see a slower pace of Sabatons music, you should see Christmas truce. It's a truly wonderful true story with the most epic music videos ever made. It will make you cry, I can tell you.
In that video, Tommy Johansson is with the band as well.
The video is a small movie and an artwork seldom seen from bands.
we will put it on the list for sure! Thank you so much for the suggestion and for watching Much Love
That song is about the 7th Tank Division from the Germans in WW2. They earned the nickname "Gespensterdivision" (Ghostdivision) for breaking through the Maginot Line and reaching the coast of France in 1940. They got the nickname from the french soldiers for showing up at places where they werent expected and they were led by the famous Erwin Rommel, which had the rank of Major General at this time. Greetings from Germany
It is a swedish band, preforming in Poland, singing about a german division during ww2 in english and the 700,000 people there go NUTS hearing sabaton. There are a few songs which youd maybe like to check; en livstid i krig (live gothemburg sweden 2020), christmas truce (music video), stormtroopers (animated or lyric video), Bismarck music video, to hell and back (music video)
All songs since around 2000 are about history
sabaton is from sweden , just like me , my pride and joy is the sabaton, their guitarist tommy johansson makes covers and more on youtube
It is from the Woodstock festival in Poland in 2012 and the audience was over 1 million.
Tror du dom kan svenska 😉
40:1 from this concert is amazing, the concert was in Warsaw Poland and 40:1 is about the battle of wizna during world War 2, which is also called the polish Thermopylae, where the polish were outnumbered 40 to 1 the crowd is understandably on fire for it, also uprising which is about the polish resistance is a great song from it
Sabaton has a second UA-cam channel called Sabaton History where they talk about the historical backgrounds of their songs. It's absolutely worth it to check that channel out.
One thing about reactions of Sabaton songs: While some are fine as live versions many of their songs have excellent music videos. For these songs its better to check out the music videos first - most notably the songs Bismarck, Christmas Truce and the songs Night Witches, No Bullets Fly and Red Baron (the latter three exist as animated videos which are amazing).
Sabaton have a hisory chanel where they explain the history behind all there songs.
Other Sabaton you should listen to is: Swedish Pagens, live from Wacken festival with Tina Guo, Christmas truce and Livstid i krig (or Lifetime at war). The lyrics are in swedish. But it´s with english subtitles. That song is about the 30 year war sweden fought, basically a whole generation got lost in that war. And Sabaton is a swedish band!
thanks so much for the suggestions. we will definitely put it on the list. Thanks again Much Love
Tommy is not in this show, he joined later. Sabaton are great live but also have many fantastic musik videos that are like mini movies. And all of them about historical events or persons. They even have a channel called Sabaton history channel where they go deeper in the story about the song. They are from Sweden.
its funny! its an open air in Poland and the crowd is cheering to a song about a german Panzer Division in WWII :P
Haha yes, polish people are pretty based.
Just wanted to welcome you to the rabbit hole that is Sabaton. If you keep on this path you will find some really fantastic music. A few must see:
'No bullets fly' the animated story, 'En livstid i krig' live from the Great Tour in Gothenburg. And while you are at it, check out 'Christmas Truce'.
Just for starters....
... and dont forget to check out their official Sabaton History Channel for more information about the event in the songs.
Nice reaction!
More Sabaton!!!
Go depp with Sabaton and you will be a fan for life
High energy , I love this song ! Sabaton !!! Greetings from nwse Sweden
Sabaton is from sweden 🇸🇪 and we are everywhere
the german panzer division got its name by the french when they, lead by gen. Erwin Rommel invaded couse nobopdy, including the german high command knop where they where.
Rommel later was transferred to North Africa but that had nothing top do with it
Welcome to the wonderful rabbit hole that is Sabaton. I'm just gonna hand you a good lil playlist.
No bullets fly, the animated story video.
Lady of the dark, animated story video.
Nightwitches, animated story video.
Livstid I krig, live in Gothenburg.
Livgardet, any video version.
1916, official video.
The final solution, official lyric video.
Bismarck, official video.
Uprising, either live in Poland or the official video.
Soldier of heaven, official video.
Christmas truce, official video.
That should be enough to get you started.
Don't be worried about copyright claims and such from them though, they actually love when people make react content with their songs.😊
The concerts are really loud but they are full of energy and everyone is really nice
this almost looks like Woodstock, Poland, aka 500k people there if not more
P.S. Sabaton is band from Sweden. They sing historical songs, about Poland, German, 30 year war etc.
*sweden
It's from Polen and It's about 700 000 in the crowd
Here is the Sabaton History Lesson to this song, explaining what it is all about 😁 ua-cam.com/video/uGd1h6pchzM/v-deo.html , they have their very own UA-cam history channels for that. This was the Polish Woodstock festival.
I'm sure that you have been suggested this already, but you should react to some of Sabaton's animated videos about the events. They often include the background of the events and then tell the story.
We will check it out for sure! thanks for the suggestion. Much Love
Welcome to the batallion! \m/
This was before Tommy came to sabaton
7th Panzer Divison of Germany in WWII led my Erwin Rommel.
This was in Poland- polish Woodstock, more than 700 000 people
The official number is 500 000 but still a frickin lot
I can recommend 2 sabaton songs that are "no bullets fly" and "night witches", just so you know you should listen to the animated story videos of both for they have the story and the song together.
Sabaton tells all sides. Consider for a moment that at this concert in Poland, you have hundreds of thousands of people cheering as they sing about Ramos tank, divisions, storming through Europe, and later, they go absolutely insane to the song 40 to 1, about a Polish stand that held off those very same tank divisions for two days.
That is freakin awesome lol we cant wait to check out that song. thanks for watching Much Love
Tommy Johansson joined Sabaton in 2016. This concert is from 2012.
More Sabaton 🤟
At that time it was "Woodstock STOP" festiwal now its POLandROCK, numbers are different depending who counts ;) but it's from 250 000 to 600 000 people every year on it. In 2011 Halloween played on that stage , there is small hill around 300-400 meters from main stage but Halloween drummer played such solo that the alarms in the cars parked on this hill went off... and i could feel it in my stomach!!!
i'm not an old bitty but i have to say i appreciate a metal band who doesnt write about murder or sex. history is a better subject lol
Ghost division was the Desert Fox, Erwin Rommels panzer battalion.
7th Panzerdivision, not just a battalion ;) it was prior to Erwin Rommel becoming the Desert Fox, during the Campaign of France in 1940. It was nicknamed Ghost Division because no one (in France or Germany) had any damn idea where he was all time long, rushing as he was to turn our army and cut it off from its supplies.
It's from Woodstock festival from Poland. That's what You think crowd is behind is stage is actually front, that big structure are extra speakears and there are light and sound operators.
Woodstock Fests Warsaw Poland 2012, 750,000 in attendance.
Sabaton are my favourite band and I saw them live in concert last year and I was in the second row 😊, they were AWESOME!!
The Drummer is the Husband Floor Jansen of Nightwish
Not this particular drummer though.
it was about rommell, his push was so fast that german high command lost track of where he was at any one time and his ability to appear where least expected lead to his 7th division being labelled the ghost division,. ie 200km in one day and 240km in 24hrs.
Here's a secret... A lot of us metalheads are introverts. But you ain't gonna feel any anxiety once you get into the mosh pit.😊
WELL SAID!
I would recommend 40:1 from the same live show, it was nuts.
Sabaton concerts are great for children at smaller shows like their US tours (2000-3000) they often invite 1 or 2 kids to be on stage for the final song.
If you want to hear some of their songs that concern american history i would recomend "82nd All the way" about Sgt. Alvin York highest decorated american soldier in WW 1, "To Hell and Back" about Audie Murhphy highest decorated soldier in WW 2, "Devil Dogs" about the US Marines battle at Bellau Woods (if you choose the official music video it's a montage from their pre corona US tour and shows a lot about their audience)
Rumor has it this live event become so big they are not really allowed to preform in Poland anymore because too big crowds gather.
History geek - panzers in WWI. it hurts
Hey I specifically said one of the World Wars lol
@The NEW Reel yes, that is true and fair enough. Not everyone likes history, not everyone knows or cares about it, I get it. This is just such basic history knowledge that it hurts to see a fellow history geek not know that. We could give you a pass on a technicality, in WWI the Germans actually had ONE tank, or panzer if you will, since 1917 so i guess it could be fine. No hate here man, just wanted to joke around about the history geek not knowing about panzers. Best wishes to both.
@@nikolamladenovic8828 Lol All good here, I honestly knew that but I am weird about answering a FINAL ANSWER type of question on a UA-cam Video unless I know I'm correct 100% because honestly even with a disclaimer like "I could be wrong" or "I am not quite sure but..." if you are wrong Then that is something the comments will have a BLAST with lol and I am honestly surprised I knew as much about it as I did! I definitely impressed myself and the hot half German chick I'm married to so I call that a win! Lol and I was specifically told by someone else in another comment that I am Definitely not a "History Geek" because the definition of "Geek" is that a Geek is knowledgeable about the topic they are a Geek about.... Hmmm Idk If it is official or not but he said he was a History teacher so he was qualified to say that 🤓 Regardless He reminded me of one of the reasons why I disliked high school so much haha Seriously though I do find a lot of History fascinating and tend to gravitate to more of Earlier History like the Crusades and ancient Egypt and that sort of thing, so maybe if Sabaton has a song about King Tutankhamun or something of that nature then maybe I can redeem myself! We have fun here and try not to take anything too serious so I can handle a roasting in the comments lol Thanks for taking the time to watch and make fun of me! 🤣 We really do appreciate it. Much Love
Hi there . Go to Sabaton history and there you will find the réal story of each song . Some times the sono system is not well installed and sometimes you can hear everything. But very electric. It is an atmosphère that carries . Stay safe . Stay well .
I been to 80k people metal festivals, I'm introvert part Autistic. It's just phenomenal. I never felt in danger, I never felt bad with those crowds like I could feel very bad following my parents during strikes in Paris with same amount of people. Truth is, this is a sea of peaceful people coming to listen the same shit as you and they are being careful. One year in wacken, at Sepultura concert, they were about to make a circle pit, they told us about it and adviced us to back off a little bit if we wanted to be safe. And so we did. Then last year, I went to a smaller concert and even participated in wall of deaths and circle pits and enjoyed it very much. So how does it feel ? Crazy good.
I never believed in "safe spaces"... Heavy Metal is a safe space.
It´s a fantastic Swedish band. The drummer is married to Floor Jansen from Nightwish. Try to listen to
En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg), or Christmas truce. It´s always a history lesson.
They have a history channel too.
This is performed at Woodstock, Poland I Believe
Yeah, you should watch 40:1 about a battle between 40,000 German soldiers and 900 Polish defenders in 1939, Aces in Exile about Battle of Britain, or Wing Hussars about a charge of Polish winged cavalry against Mongols during a battle of Vienna. But 40:1 is just epic during this concert.
they are from sweden
8:35 That's not behind teh stage. That's where they have sound monitors and stuff like that. The sound engineers usually sit a bit from the stage so that they can hear how it sounds for themselves, as well as so they can see the stage.
You must watch 40:1 and Uprising from this concert!
If you like intimate shows, see sabaton live, 80% of the crowd sings most songs and are as a big group, i have been to their own festival: Sabaton Open Air 6 times and i have met people from all around Europe.
They released an album in both english and swedish, when they play A lifetime of war in swedish (en livstid i krig) most people sing along, no matter where they are from, they learn that song. That is how kind of inclusive their songs are, they bring everyone together, they bring out feelings from everyone to feel together as common people.
Going down the Sabaton rabbit hole? You will NOT come back! ^^
A friend of minee linked me Ghost Division after he had been to a Hammerfall concert, where this unknown band Sabaton was warming up ... I never came back! And this was in 2009-ish ... ^^
I saw them in Vancouver opening for Nightwish, and not to put Nightwish down but I think the crowd was louder when chanting for Sabaton.
That was in poland. Wacken is probably biggest metal festival in Europe (Germany) and ppl do bring their kids there too. Metal ppl are most friendliest crowd in any genre i think. In where I live (Finland) we have big festivals too. How you hear the music...they take care of sounds and it's in the end more about to be with ppl with same "spirit". If you really want to see a band up close, then you have to be very early. I'm ok to see them comfy place where beer is near and not so crowded...getting old it seems :D
Agreed. 100% most metal festivals I've been to have been x^infinity family friendly > everything else. Wacken, SwedenRock and so on people bring their familys, kids, grandparents and everything. Just nice people there to listen to nice music and feel welcomed. :) (VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY DIFFERENT FROM BULLSHIT LIKE THE WOODSTOCK AND SO ON, that I was told was "also festivals" but with 100x% of rape and SHIT people present. Weird times we livin' in people. Weird' times. Hope yall' game an chill at least. :)
You're gonna love The Sabaton History Channel! And the band has alot of great animated videos, telling the historical stories of Sabaton songs!
