The worst quote was at the end describing rebuilding the 1000 foot pier “they are going to rebuild it just as they have in the past“
That is emblematic of a lot of misguided reconstruction plans. The storms and flooding are going to get worse. They need to engineer with that in mind
I would hope that if they rebuild the pier, they use concrete and other materials and methods to make it storm ready

You are so right. And this seems to be a problem in Florida. Building on islands that will be covered by the ocean in a few years, building on spits of sand, not recognizing Ian is only a foretaste of what's to come. I certainly would never move there & we will probably have an exodus back uo NY.

You can move.... i was born 2 weeks after a hurricane hit where im from in the 80s.... and now i dont live in that area anymore. Hurricanes hit our southern and eastern coasts EVERY YEAR. Sometimes, the same area twice a year. Or same area back to back years. Moving is truly your best option for not dealing with it. But so many choose to stay. Thats on them to be honest. Glad i moved and will NEVER move back. Specially as the sea levels rise every year.

@@anthonyvaldez8058 I agree that's unfortunate. Florida should stop paying federal income taxes then let private business handle these issues like insurance companies and entrepreneurs or within the state itself. Let the local state handle failing insurance companies (already does this) and corrupt entrepreneurs (already does this as well). Let the federal government focus on the border crisis, Russia, Iran etc. things that are well beyond the capability of a state. Can we make a deal? Or do you want to keep siphoning off money from tax paying Floridians?

For as long as tourists want to visit, companies will clean up and rebuild, to cater to them. If you look at rebuilding after Andrew and every hurricane since, you will see the buildings increasingly look like concrete bunkers. They are pretty drab and ugly. But the buildings are becoming better at withstanding the wind. Water, not so much - a flooded house can still be a write-off.
It's not too hard to learn lessons and to upgrade building codes. I have a friend evacuated about 10 miles back from the coast in Naples and she tells me she is fine.....she just can't get close to the beach again, where she works. But, inland, the hotel has it's own major generator, is clean, dry and undamaged and staff are glad for the work.
Anywhere on the coast is at risk. But the US has over 10,000 miles of coastline and that includes New York and many other cities, ports and military facilities. Until/unless global climate change crushes our current society, it will be too expensive to adjust in anything less than centuries.
And it is not only the country with coastlines.

I saw a news clip around 30 years ago about an old man who got caught in a flood three times but on the third time he did something so intelligent that it caught the eye of a local news reporter.
He used large plastic trash bags to protect the property that he couldn't take with him.
The news camera pans around and all you can see is all of his small appliances protected inside trash bags, all of his extra clothing, bath towels, toiletries, all nicely packed inside large trash bags.
And the news reporter ended the peace by looking around all the destruction of the flood and picking up a fresh bath towel out of the trash bag smelling it and saying, This smells April fresh."
From that day on, I have always thought that people that live in flood areas would do the same thing. The items they couldn't bring with them when they evacuated, they would just put in large trash bags to protect them. I guess it's not a thing, seeing as all her files were destroyed.

This is Peace and Safety..He who Dwells in the Shadow of the Most High
I Am a Prophetess of Christ.
The world is just like He Described...
And this Message from God..It goes out to the Whole earth:
"Nations..do you have a Holy Bible?"
-asks the Lord, the Living Word
But know this, that in the Last Days perilous times will come:
    2 Timothy 3:1
    And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and plagues;
and there will be fearful sights and Great Signs from Heaven.
    Luke 21:11
“And there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars; and upon the earth distress among nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring."
    Luke 21:25
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
    Matthew 24:7
All these are the beginning of sorrows...birth pains.
    Matthew 24:8
-But for you who fear My Name, the Sun of Righteousness will Rise with Healing in His Wings.
And you will go Free, Leaping with Joy like calves let out to pasture.
    Malachi 4:2
"Nations...It is Time to Receive Him"
-declares Me, the Glory of Change
"The Time has Come. Enter into My Presence Now"
    -says Jesus, my Beloved Savior
"If you are use to the traditional home..it has No value. I Will be your Shelter."
-says Jesus, the Defender and Protector of mankind
"You have received Divine Protection, just as I have received Divine Protection"
-said the Lord, my Permanent Place of Safety
With my Freedom to Choose, I Chose to Believe.
"All Prophecy shall Come to pass"
-says Me, the Living Word of God
"Behold..My Bride has Opened Me and Received Me.
The End Result...the Glory of God.
Once you decide to have My Life...You shall Receive My Life. I Give it All to you."
    -says the Lord, your Deliverer
Signs in the earth as well as in Heavenly Places.
    "Signs Everywhere"

    I Have Come Forth
    -says Jesus, the Christ
To All Nations..Behold...Notice that your Light has Come
"Salvation is Real. I Am the One who Loves you and Gave His life for you.
Because the Standard to enter into Heaven is Absolute Perfection, I died for you.
Salvation is Simple. Someone took your punishment for you. That's what Salvation is all about. Salvation is hid in Christ.
I Am the Christ" -says Jesus, the Risen One
"It is Time you came Home. You are Welcomed at All Costs. Come all who are hungry and thirsty. Come, and I will pour My Heart out to you.
All who thirst ..Come..I Am the Well that doesn't run dry. Believe in Me. I Am Jesus. I Am Real. You must Come to Me. There is No other way"
    -says I Am He
    To the Believer ..
"You have Believed in Me and Your Light has Come. It is your Portion to Rejoice unto the End.
I Am the Kingdom of God who is Already within you. God Saved you when you Believed. And I Am the Seed who Saved you. I have raised you and I will Raise you again.
Your New Spirits are Real. I have Seen them. Behold...At the Sound of My Glory, I Command you to Rise!
The Time has Come. Come deeper than the Cross. Come out to Meet Me. I Am a Personal God".
-says the Lord, the Thief in the Night
"Seek Me in All you do. I Am a Rewarder to those who diligently Seek Me and My Reward is with Me.
Behold My Life, I Give it All to you. The Good Life..the Perfect Life..The Life.
Life is not something to burden someone with. All is Well or nothing at all. All is Perfect or nothing at all. I Give you All."
-says the Lord, who Loves you and Gave His life for you
"Remember....This is Peace and Safety..He who Dwells in the Shadow of the Most High. The Kingdom of God is open to everyone.
And My Love for you is Real. Come to Me. Believe in Me. Come all who are Hungry and Thirsty...Come, and I will pour My Heart out to you. You are Welcomed at All Costs. Come..."
-says the Hope of the world, JESUS
"All that you Need pertaining to Life and godliness, I have Provided in Christ" -says God, the Father who Loves you
"In Christ, you have been Provided with Everything you Need"
    -says God, the Provider
"Jesus is All you Need" -says the Bride, who is Clothed with the Son
"Can all who Call upon the Lord be Saved?" -asks the Lord, the Cross Barer
"At that Exact Moment" -replies the Lord, who makes all things New
"All who call upon Jesus shall be Eternally Saved"
    -says God, who Exists
Anyone who Diligently Seeks God, He will Lead you into the Fullness of Joy.
    The End.
The End Times of Jesus Coming are Here. And I have already Met Him.

    HURRICANE IAN - 2022 ?
Hurricane Ian hit like an atom bomb
Consuming the helpless in it's path.
The waters of the deep surged forth
    Flooding everything with it's wrath.
The best of the brave was seen by man
While rescue crews were helping others.
They risked their life and laid it on the line
To save our sisters and brothers.
May heaven show mercy upon the lost
Never to love, laugh, sing or cry
God bless every man, woman and child
Who before their time had to die.
Tears are the raindrops of the soul
    Shed by all who cry
Though the eyes are wet and swollen
With time and patience they dry.

¡¡¡ EL ANHELO ARDIENTE DE LA CREACION. !!!
Rom.8.19. “Porque el anhelo ardiente de la creación es el aguardar la manifestación
    de los hijos de Dios.
Rom.8.20. Porque la creación fue sujetada a vanidad, no por su propia voluntad, sino
    por causa del que la sujetó en esperanza;
    de parto hasta ahora;
    fuego y vapor de humo;
Hec.2.20.
    día del Señor, Grande y manifiesto;
Hec.2.21. AMENNN
¡¡¡ ESCAPA DEL FUROR Y DE LA IRA DEL DIOS TODOPODEROSO QUE ESTA VINIENDO SOBRE EL PLANETA POR CAUSA DEL PECADO Y DESOBEDIENCIA DE LOS HOMBRES, VUELVETE A JESUCRISTO EL SALVADOR DEL MUNDO !!!
2Co.5.17. "De modo que si alguno está en Cristo, nueva criatura es; las cosas viejas
pasaron; he aquí todas son hechas nuevas.
2Co.5.18.
    Cristo, y nos dio el ministerio de la reconciliación;
2Co.6.2. Porque dice: En tiempo aceptable te he oído, Y en día de salvación te he
socorrido. He aquí ahora el tiempo aceptable; he aquí ahora el día de
    salvación." AMENNN
2Pe.3.9.
    2Pe.3.15. Y tened entendido que la paciencia de nuestro Señor es para salvación;
