    My son and I purchased of 49cc 4stroke kit from Bikeberry. We installed it on a Trek 10-speed frame in about 4-5 hours. We tested it on the road by the house for about 10 minutes, then checked it all over, chain tension, bolts and nuts. Then he got on it and drove it to his house 32 miles from mine in about an hour and 15 minutes. Probably has 2000 miles on it now and other than a couple of drive belts has given NOT ONE PROBLEM.

    Got a 49cc 4 stroke on a micargi Seattle cruiser. I put about 20 miles on it everyday. In fact it's reliability has swayed me away from 2 strokes. I can't imagine why you had so many problems.probably because you used BIKEBERRY! Unfortunately I don't ride trails with it per se every so often off road. I'll tell you this though I'm like 300lbs and I have no pedal chain. I can take off from a stop no pedals required. And it accelerates uphill

    What I did on mine was just weld the plate to the frame. It gives you some extra room in the frame since you eliminate the mounting studs, but if you ever plan on using the bike for anything else that might be a problem.

      I am building a 4 stoke and that is all it will be used for. Regular bike for exercise and motor when I get tired. It will be a lot more motor in the beginning as it will take me all winter to build it. Never done this before and been super years since I even been on a bike as I am now 59. HAHAHAHAHA. Don't have a lot of money to throw away so I have to do it right the first time by being very slow and very carefully in building it. LOTS OF UA-cam'S.

    My first build is a Kent Seachange with a 49cc 4 stroke engine.
    I picked a very difficult bike and motor combination, but I made i work. VERY FRUSTRATING.
    Lots of motor mount issues , cutting and drilling . It BARLEY fit.
    Some say you can't put a 49cc 4 stroke engine on a Kent Seachange.
    But I did .
    My next build will be a bigger frame with down tube belly .
    I prefer the 49cc 4 stroke engine.
    I wish I could post pictures of my bike.
    It actually turned out very nice.

    I got my kit from gasbike. It came with the 100tooth transmission. The only issue I ever had with it was the transmission bearings, they had to be changed after 2000km and the 20tooth pulley shaft had some wear which I built back with epoxy. The concentric housing for the 100tooth pulley also had wear due to the bearings spinning inside it but new bearings went back in perfectly. The spacer between the 100t pulley and bearing also wore out and I replaced with stainless steel washers and the inner ring from one of the old bearings. Other than that, the engine works perfectly. Everything else - mount, tensioner, tank had to be checked and adjusted until I figured it out but it all works.

    Worst problem with my 4 stroke build has been bearings in the rear of the transmission. I've got the 100 tooth belt drive setup, and she's got plenty of torque taking off. Just wish it was on a 26 inch bike with a 44 tooth rear sprocket. Its on a 28 inch wheel bike, which it will do 32 mph on.

    I've noticed many of the four stroke kits come with a wide crank set but if you have an older bike, those crank sets can be a real bear to extract, and really why even bother when you can get so much more out of a two stroke with fewer points of potential failure and greater potential for upgrading? Not to mention a cheaper level of entry.

    Everyone who sells them parts will tell you to get the heavy duty mount, the reason being is that they sit better on the frame. Plus get the belt to chain kit for the transmission, it won’t be as much of a hassle to work with.

  • @darthbiker2311
    @darthbiker2311 3 роки тому +3

    You could probably also sell the frames. If they're alloy, they're expensive. if they're steel, they absorb engine vibration well and are good for motorizing. Anyways thanks for this video, I already have a 2 stroke bike and was undecided whether to upgrade to 4 stroke (noise issues). After the pain of mounting a 66cc on to a 20" folder I'm not sure I'd like a do over by trying to replace it with a 4-stroke.

    I love your videos. This one in particular because I have bought the same kit from bike berry. The mount did suck. And origanlly I used it as a friction drive and the same thing happened to me with the spring on the clutch. I then mounted it on my 26inch mountain bike and again had the same problem as you with the chain and transmission,and the motor mount. I finally bought a new4 stroke kit with a belt drive to chain transmission. Was the 5g or 7g kit. It had a better motor mount also. I finally bought a80 cc two stroke kit and loved the simplicity of it. It came from anbul. So far I've ran about two tanks of gas through it and no problems at all. Well I upgraded the cdi because of rain issues and water. I would be happy to send a video some day of my 4 stroke build.

    I had much trouble getting my 4 stroke to stay running as well . It ended up being a throttle cable kept getting loose . An easy fix .
    I also had many problems trying to get the motor to mount inside the Bike Berry Switz Cruze bike not having enough room without cutting the choke lever down. So I turned the thing into the Lock and Load friction bike and that worked with many adjustments as well. So I guess it's a huffy with a special pedal crank for me or another friction bike only this time a Stanton unit with a Honda motor. One main problem with a friction drive is the potholes keep bouncing the motor off the rear wheel. So anything you do for a Motorized bike you are going to have some sort of problem . get used to it. Sorry.

    Weld the mounting plate to the frame possibly

    If you think putting a 49cc on a frame is difficult, try a 79cc 4 stroke which is the kit I got it’s pretty bulky but it’s actually pretty easy ngl

    I need help finding a hub adapter for my Huffy 26” mountain bike. I want to get rid of the rag joint but my rear hub measures about 0.62 mm. The only ones I can find are for 1” 1.5”. Can you help?

    • @mjsmjs7905
      @mjsmjs7905 3 роки тому

      You ever use the one rag joint method, it works so much better than two, but surprisingly I don't see many people using it. But way better than a hub adapter, Hub adapters kind of suck, they're only held together by two screws, they almost always end up sliding and destroying the wheels. Couple success stories here and there but usually doesn't end well. I use brake mounts now.

    In order to have the engine from slipping. You must ad a third mount. Best to triangulate the it. Use a turnbuckle I find a good place on that specific engine. Going from the top tube of frame down to where the engine and transmission sandwich. engine.

      @@LAHover I have seen that motor on a fat tire bike before. It looked like it had one of those shift kits on it, from Sick Bike Parts. I think that's how I would do it. Otherwise getting the chain to cleat the fat tire and still have a rear disk break may be tricky.

    Will you look into the faker felt gas tank bicycle frames?

    • @thecatofulthar
      @thecatofulthar 3 роки тому

      The felt faker tank frames are nice I've got one they're light and sturdy, they are aluminum though so you want to make sure the wheel axle spacing fits well because you don't want to try to spread aluminum chainstays that can cause stress cracking in the metal. I have however heard that on larger 4 stroke engines like 212's they need a shorter valve cover to clear but I stick to 2 strokes so I haven't tried it myself to say for certain.
