- Having a home renovation show on HGTV is not easy work, and a lot of the stars on the network have been working their way up the ladder for years, but they do make a lot of money for their efforts.
Although many HGTV favorites were once nearly broke, they have now found a way to turn their skills into successful and entertaining shows, although you might be surprised which ones make the most money from it.
From the couple who moved to the Bahamas for a renovation project to the star who has worked every thankless job in the book, let’s take a look at the surprising list of the richest HGTV stars.

Home Town is the absolute best for keeping the drama out. Always positive and looking on the bright side of things.
My favourite are ones that were not listed. The Home Town's Ben and Erin Napier and the Fixer to Fabulous' Dave and Jennie Mars. There's no drama, just people who are passionate at making a difference in their home town
I like home town.just down to earth people
They dont throw all away they really LISTEN to the people.and help there town. There humble.and good bones.humble people good at there job
Good Bones is by far my favorite. Not on HGTV, but the most realistic is Maine Cabin Masters. Real workers, real budgets, real furnishings.!!!
My favourite couple is Home Town's ERIN & BEN NAPIER, love to see how they relate and work together. I also love & respect their mission to revive their town and personally makeover a home specifically for the home owner. I still love Masters of Flip hosts and was heartbroken to see them split up. I have a special admiration for these Cdn hosts as a fellow Cdn but moreso for KORTNEY for her love of colour and eclectic design. I also like both of Good Bones hosts and their mission to improve neglected houses. I really adore KAREN, she has such a fun eclectic free spirit.
Mike Holmes was by far the best and most informative
My favorites are Chip and Joanna Gaines, Erin and Ben Napier from Home Town. People who seem genuinely interested in helping others instead of getting a name for themselves. And please I'm not saying the others aren't genuinely interested in helping others. It's only my opinion. The others just feel more polished (smoozy, if you will)-- Sorta like Christina (imo), who I feel, is in it for the money. I actually feel Tarek is more genuine than Christina.
The Boise Boys. They are great designers and are hilarious.

I don't care for millionaire TV stars. Ben and Erin had little to start not a big real estate business. They are real.

Wow...I thought some of these stars were worth more....like Tarek and Christina.. Hillary and David...I knew the Scott Brothers were up there...
I don't like fakery. I don't like shows that have people agree to finance a renovation but have little input as to what is done, leading up to the phony "reveal". Real people wouldn't agree to that. I don't like shows where the stars pretend they're doing much of the work themselves, but in reality they just have photo ops with tools in their hands while crews do the actual work. I don't like shows where spouses have totally different wants, often based on stereotypes of men and women. I cringe at promoting the latest fads to fill a house with glitz and glamour rather than practicality.
I do, however, enjoy seeing the way houses are planned, and I like seeing how problems are solved. I enjoy shows that point out common construction mistakes. I enjoy watching real workmen doing real work.
My favs are Eric and Lindsay Bennett, the Palm Springs flippers. Hope they are back this year.

these mostly suck with the exception of Holmes. I only watch the California ones because I lived there for 20 years. The best show was the old Home Time where they actually showed you how to do the work. Circa 1990s show

Christina Anstead is by far, THE most annoying host on HGTV. The fake “val speak” hurts like a hangover. And how many times can she pick the same tile, cabinets, paint, countertops? Her 2 husbands are better off without her. When will number 3 be duped into walking down the isle?
No, it wouldn’t surprise me at all. Don’t like “Love it or List it, never watch it, don’t like House Hunters either, never watch it. The Gaines’ have lost favor, to much unnecessary chatter, and Chip is openly verbally cruel to his wife. And cannot stand Flip or Flop, or Christine or Tarrek.
