I was experiancing the same issues with morning condensation. I cut a silver tarp 2 feet wider and 2 feet longer than the top of my camper. I have found that it works fantastic. It keeps the condensation from gathering, and keeps the sun from making the camper too hot. And keeps much more heat from escaping thru the tent roof. Also it is a great safety item, as it keeps any pitch, tar, or stray campfire embers from landing on my roof. I fasten it down with several binder clips. I can not take credit for this idea, I saw it on a couple other campers and questioned what it was. Hope this helps and solves you problem. Dave
I will second the tarp over the unit idea. It has been working for us that way for years. Makes a huge difference in both Hot and Cold weather. We first tried it in New Mexico when it was 100+ degrees outside. I carry a Honda 2000 Generator and 5k BTU AC unit in my Aspen. And the tarp made it to where the 5K would do a good job. Otherwise, you couldn't stay in it in the day time without the tarp.
Absolutely so proud of both of you. You have no idea but you probably do how many people wish that ride motorcycles and had a marriage and the spouse or girlfriend do what you guys are doing makes me want to cry thank you for doing it💗John Graham Cincinnati Ohio. Bc be careful always 💗
You could run old school: pitch a tarp above Ruby. As long as it does not touch it will draw the dew away. And works wonders in the hot summer- double shade- much cooler. Another old school trick- keep a tin of salt(think mid size coffee can) in the tent or whatever. It will pull moisture out of the enclosure. Works in small tents, I haven't tried it in anything larger. Worth a try.
@@TwoWheelsBigLife Yup Try it I saw some campers do that up in WA years ago; tied a tarp over the tent on poles (A Frame) Last time we tented up are your area, I did the same thing: tarp and a box of Morton salt - bone dry! Be safe

Hey guys. Wife and I rode Zion a few years ago. We are from Nfld, Canada. It was very different for us. However it was so hot we got in early and actually arrived at the gate at sunrise. Free to get in, zero traffic and the clear cool air was completely different from that of an hour later. It was truly a transcendental experience that I will always cherish. Try it sometime, you won't regret it. And come to Nfld, Canada. You will love that too!
Bryce is most do-able late June-early September. As is north AZ/Utah/grand canyon etc. Check out candle heaters. They work better than you would think, and are a source of dry heat.
great videos and travels. We were lucky many moons ago to do similar. 6 months touring the USA with our Chinook camper. Love seeing familiar sights again. Now touring Europe on motorcycle pre covid and hopefully post covid. Stay safe.
The scenery is so beautiful in that part of our country, not that it is not beautiful here in New England but I have lived here all my life and love seeing something different.
As nice as your bikes are, mine has a feature that makes it outstanding. As we (we, being the bike and me) approach a place that serves good coffee, good apple pie, good hamburgers, or chocolate ice cream - the bike slows, and beyond my control, it turns right in, pulls up, and shuts down. One shop mechanic said that he could fix that. His memorial service was nice.

The new tents have the rain fly, that lets the moisture out through the screen in the top of tent and under the rain fly. With the solid tent like you have, I don't see a way not to have the condensation.
We bring a lot of freeze dried food for when we don't want to shop. Came in handy when we were in the Everglades and a grocery store was a long long ways away. The food doesn't take up much space and is light.
Stunning scenery, and the 360 video footage is amazing. Would love to travel there (when it's warmer!!). Re the condensation, its mostly from your breathing. Get a dehumidifier, or try not to breathe at night 😁

Where are you guys going to be in mid September? I'm heading west from Austin TX to LA California and then up the PCH all the way to Seattle WA. I would love to meet you guys. Your adventures are so inspiring. Safe travels...
There is no solution, single walled tent. With double or more walled tents there is a wall or fly that catches the moisture. Propane gives off moisture as well as cooking, you, damp or wet gear and there is the floor (ground) walls and zippers, openings letting damp outside air in. The only fix is indirect heat with an exchange of heated air through a heat exchanger blowing dry warm air in forcing damp cold air out and don't worry with your set up it will find away out. All that said a canvas tent can be the exception with a salamander heater. both of which is too heavy for your application. Working outside in rain and snow storms we had to keep electronics (Bell) dry and humidity in check. Working with what you have I would figure away to catch the moisture or have it run along the ceiling to a corner where it can be collected. As for venting warm air rises so if your venting is low you are just adding wet fresh air. I would see how much the manufacturer suggests for an opening and try not to go much bigger than that. Then you could rig a moisture catching liner in the ceiling like they do in military tents in the arctic. But whether it be altitude or next to the ocean wherever there is heavy dew you're camping in the rain every day. I worked in Nova Scotia once on the coast and you could set your watch every day when the dew would drop at first I thought the guys where messing around because it was like a bucket of water being dropped on the tent if I remember right it was like at seven in the morning so you broke camp before then or a little after to dry things out. Either way your camping in a tent condensation is something you have to deal with. Anyone can camp for a day or two, but to camp for weeks in all weather well now you are playing in the big leagues. The real test is when it becomes life or death and there is no back up one mistake and you are toast I'm just glad those days are behind me. I'll end with one word HOTEL!
Hey Chris, what are your thoughts on the HWK jacket? How did it perform in hot weather (venting), cold weather (is the liner sufficient for 40 degrees), and rainy weather (do you still need separate rain gear)? Thanks!
In regards to the moisture on the roof, you would be surprised how much insulation a tarp on the out of the roof makes a difference. Use to do it on our boat in cold weather, makes a huge difference.
Question, how did you get the 360 overhead video shots? Both your hands are on the bars, nothing connecting you to the camera. It was super cool, and I would very much like to be able to do that. Thanks, ride Safe Dave
Great content. Beautiful. It truly is amazing how elevation and time of year make such a difference. Some of my family just got back from southern Utah and Grand Canyon. Hotter than Haddies. Also, if you are in St. George, head west towards Ivins and take a drive through Snow Canyon State Park. It is a beautiful state park.

The camera is a Insta 360 one r and all of the cool shots are in the edit. Here is a link to the camera

3 things you do not want to run out of in Utah, gas, groceries, and adult beverages!!
Great content. Beautiful. It truly is amazing how elevation and time of year make such a difference. Some of my family just got back from southern Utah and Grand Canyon. Hotter than Haddies. Bod and I are in the Hocking Hills area of SE Ohio this week. We are having some pretty hot weather so far. Stay safe.
One of the ways you might try to insulate buy one of those mylar blankets w/cloth backing
Rich are you guys headed to Camp 5 ? Be cool to get a vlog of all the Motorcycle nomads at Sturgis, Joe Rader has become our South American correspondent. 😊
That is a great idea. But not everyone wants to be on camera. I’ll be there at some point for sure I want to meet everyone.
@@TwoWheelsBigLife LOL 99% of those guys are camera hogs ! I always enjoy Scotty's Vlogs from there. You two be safe out there and we all wish you well.
German tomato soup is a great recipe aswell
We’ll have to try that
I live not that far away from Zions ! Wished i would of known that you were here in May! Maybe we could of met you!
Kolob Canyon is definitely a must do especially for anyone traveling from Cedar City to St. George. It isn't that far off the beaten track to go see the beauty of the area. Also, if you are in St. George, head west towards Ivins and take a drive through Snow Canyon State Park. It is a beautiful state park.
There’s a simple formula for figuring the combined effect of elevation compared to miles of latitude. The two combine to affect temperature. I sure wish that I could remember it so could inform you.
