Hi thanks for the review i decided to buy it! Glad you mentioned that it has the ps5 downscale option and generally how it preforms with ps5, not many reviewers do and for someone using both pc and ps5 its very important
_The Best video I ever watched on Monitors. I used to go for highest refresh rate, not realising that the difference between 144 and 180 is hardly noticiable, and GPU plausibly will not even support 180 htz at high setting. So now one may have reduce game setting to medium or even low just to run it. So what you gain on refresh you loose on video clarity. Always look for balance, between GPU and monitor_
Grande Carlos, excelente video! Pois agora tens mais um!👍keep up the good work
Claro!
A imagem neste caso será MUITO superior.
Really useful review subscribed... And snap I also have a PG279Q so nice to know the LG is an improvement. Have it on order... Needed to upgrade anyway as the ASUS is Gsync only and I just replaced my failed 1080 with a MSI 6800xt. Nvidia cards are hard to find at anything approaching a sensible price in UK and the 6800xt + this monitor together worked out cheaper than a scalped 3080 on its own.
Im excited for this monitor! Since its been out a year its now at $350. Im coming from a gigabyte 1080p 144hz monitor so this lg will be a solid upgrade
Carlos my dear friend, thank you for this exquisit review. I'm wondering, if I play ps5 only and warzone 2 most of the time, what would be the next best thing to this monitor? Is there a similar option with VRR?
Honestly for warzone 2 I haven’t tested the frame rate to see how close to 120fps it runs but if it’s anything like warzone 1 you can probably have a great experience with the 120hz mode even without vrr
Hey! I got it from Amazon and from a quick search it doesn't seem like they sell this exact one any more. A quick search for "dual monitor mount" will give you plenty of options, and the closest one I could find was this one (www.amazon.co.uk/BONTEC-Ergonomic-Monitor-Screens-Adjustable-Black/dp/B01MR397OH?th=1)
Ciao!
Obrigado.

Hi Carlos, very nice video. I bought this because of your recommendation. But i have a big problem to find the right settings. I have horrible eye strain, because the colors do not match... Any chance you could share your settings? Sadly i cannot calibrate it.
Hey! Settings are very panel dependant and will not help much I am afraid, I had a friend buy a similar model and my settings on his panel were unpleasant to say the least. Some general setting you can double-check are, make sure to reset the default monitor profiles, use gamer 1 and in the picture settings use Contrast 70, sharpness 50, gamma mode 2, gamma warm (if you can't calibrate) After all this, if you still find the image too saturated, your next best bet is to try and use a software like "novideo sRGB" to clamp the monitor to sRGB properly and not like the monitor built in srgb mode. Hope this helps
I’m currently in a mental battle between Gigabyte G34WQC A-SA vs LG 27GP850-B. My buddy has this monitor and loves it. I’ve got an old dell ST2420L. That doesn’t do my new pc any good. Don’t think I’ll be able to get the calibration done you did. Do you have any experience with these 2 monitors? Thinking about just getting the lg
The upgrade will be massive either way, it all depends on what you value more, slightly larger screen size, ultra wide and slightly more expensive or the much more normal 27in lg that has better potential color accuracy if calibrated but also has better motion because of the faster response times and the higher refresh rates. Very different monitors! If you are worried about colors without calibration, and don’t do any color critical work on the monitor, your will be fine. Out of the box the image is just a little too contrasty and saturated, but if you just want to calm that down just switch to the srgb mode and you will be fine, but for the best of both worlds you have to do what I did in the video
Hello, please tell me this information - I have 2k 27gp850, I play tanks, the system gives me a stable 250fps, this is what is best with G-sync and lock 161Hz or disable G-sync and lock 220 fps and play, I need your professional advice .
Hi there I looking for information for that monitor and I check your video is the most informative in UA-cam now excellent job. I want to know, the PS5 now can operative 1440p resolution you recommend this monitor for PS5? My concern is in 1440p resolution can this monitor to achieve 120fps in game's with this capability? Now I playing in a 4k monitor 60hz but with a TN panel you think in the LG in 2k the picture quality has be better because have IPS panel? Thank you for the grate job you make!
Hello Carlos, great review. What I cannot find from any review of this monitor yet is, what Windows looks like on it. I ordered the monitor, and I will use it both as a game and work monitor. Only seeing gaming on it. Would you be able to elaborate on this? Thank you.
Maybe I misunderstand your question. Why do you mean by what windows looks like on it? I talked about color accuracy for color critical work and gaming, normal day to day desktop should be the easiest bar to clear and will look good regardless of the color calibration I had to do for video editing work
It can! At the time the PS5 did not support 1440p natively at all that is why I mentioned only 1080p If you want to know the answer to questions similar to this for future devices a good tip is to google the bandwidth for a particular resolution/refresh rate combo. For example the hdmi 2.0 port is limited to 18gbps. 1440p120hz is only 13.27gbps which fits inside the bandwidth available
Boa noite.
Hey! For Warzone (and any COD vanguard) you can either play in 4k60p (with the monitor downscaling to 1440p and looking pretty great) or 1080p120hz, so it’s pretty much as good as it gets to play COD on the ps5 for a relatively affordable price
One more question what kind of led string you have behind your monitor? Visible at 5:11 for example. It seems to put the same light that exists in the screen, sick
Nice video....i got the samsung odyssey g5...and i saw i ghosting with fifa 22 on ps5....do you think this monitor its perfect without problem like ghosting or something? Or better buy the lg27gn950?
I am pretty sure that monitor is very similar to this one so I think I does have! Make sure it has an hdmi 2.0 port and if it does it is almost guaranteed to do the downscaling that I talked about
What kind of arm do you use for the monitor? Do you hang it on a wall or on your desk through the arm? I'm used to using a laptop, but I've recently decided I should switch to a monitor because I'm getting old and things are getting too tiny for me (and sseing only a few tracks on my DAW in the laptop was driving me insane lol). I've got this monitor now, and I'm trying to find the best possible way to use it on my desk... great video, and thanks for the tips!
Hey man! AMAZING video! Is this monitor still worth it today? I can get it new for 340 EUR. Only thing I'm concerned about is the contrast ratio? Do games look good on this monitor?
Still use mine to this day and still think it is one of the best valued options since there still is such a big money increase for 240Hz - 360Hz options. Contrast is fine side by side with second monitor that is 1000:1 If you are doing calibration with a colorimeter you can slight increase this 800:1 ratio to around 900:1, but that is very panel dependant
Hi, I doubt you will answer my question since you released this video over 2 years ago, but right now I'm trying to figure out which monitor to get; this one, or the Dell G2724D I only play on PC but I use it for everything. The Dell has a Local Dimming feature, but it's not very good and it cannot be turned off when using HDR. That one also has a better stand, but for some reason it's also much more expensive where I live, exactly the same price as the LG one. I've seen that this Dell monitor is much cheaper in the US.
Hey! Of course, I will reply :) From all that you said, I have some advice. First forget HDR. It is incredible tech OLED monitors, but there are ZERO monitors on this price range that have anything remotely close to passable HDR, no matter dimming zones or not. Secondly the LG is still a solid option and I still use it to this day, but for less money you can get some pretty interesting options these days. I have seen a fair few videos on monitors from Koorui (Optimum tech and techless have made some reviews) and they seem like incredible deals for this category. As for the Dell you talked about I haven't seen anything regarding it, so I can't really comment too much but from what I can tell it looks similar to the LG so you probably are fine with that option as well but can't really help much with anything more specific since I haven't tried it
Currently the ps5 already supports 1440p natively but even if you are playing games that don’t support that resolution, either the monitor or the ps5 will fit 4k to the monitor available pixels creating an image that is really really close to native 4k at a normal viewing distance
Heya, really enjoyed the video, but I have a quick question for you. Would you still recommend this monitor now, or would you recommend something else around the same price? Fellow Portuguese gamer here! 😄
Boas!
Hi there. This is a really great approach and I enjoyed your review. I am looking for a monitor for gaming on a Series X and also trying to futureproof myself a bit if I decide to get a PC in the future. I don't care for HDR one bit. I mainly play games such as Destiny, Apex Legends and the new Forza Horizon 5 (amazing game btw!). I also very rarely play in a dark room and glare from outside isn't an issue. 1440p is my primary target and I may occasionally play some games at 1080p. Is this still the monitor for me? Will I still be able to get 120+Hz if I'm using it at 1080p? Lastly, are you able to actually change the screen size within the monitor menus? I use a 27" right now but I set the screen size to 24". A lot of questions and I appreciate if you take the time to answer. Also, your cat taxes have increased. I'm going to need more cat content in the future ;)
Ahahaha first of all thanks for the kind words, really happy you enjoyed the video and I’ll make sure I add more cat in the future :) When it comes to the monitor I think it’s a great option for the price that it costs. You can play 1080p 180hz on the pc no problem, on the Xbox I’m pretty sure you can play 1440p120hz but most games that support 120hz are limited to 1080p (which you can also get with this monitor) what you can’t get on console is 4K (downscaled by the monitor to 1440p)and 120hz at the same time (for the very limited games that support it) That final question I’m not sure you can reduce the screen size on the monitor menus at all, so maybe you have to do that via software if possible, but honestly I wouldn’t do that and just enjoy the larger size :)
Hi I am debating getting this monitor for my PS5 to play COD at 1080p@120 and Spiderman at 4k@60, but I have heard 1080p on a 1440p monitor looks bad and blurry. Have you experienced this?
It’s fine in this monitor and 1080p 120hz on cod looks about as good as on any other monitor from what I can tell, and 4K on it looks pretty crisp given that it downscales the image from 4K
Just use the “normal” option on the motion smoothing options since for anything 60fps that will result in the least ghosting and for 120hz it’s very close to the fast option for it to be worth it to constantly change back and forth. Also avoid hdr, it’s really not worth it with this monitor and it will only make the picture look less saturated and overall worse then with the normal gamer 2 profile
Hey! So for the ps4 pro it will be pretty great since it will be very similar to the ps5. The console will see the monitor as a 4k60panel and downscale the ui and games to whatever resolution necessary resulting in a pretty good image. As for the switch honestly I expect the same to be true but I have no experience with it so there maybe something I’m missing there. Thanks for stopping by :) happy to help!
@@carlosribeiroo Update, the monitor is NOT compatible with PS4 pro! 1080p games look blurry and many games appear stretched or zoomed in (especially retro). I bought one and ended up selling it 40% cheaper than I bought it just to get rid of it. It's an absolutely fantastic monitor but only for pc. Edit: plain and simple, 1080p content can not upscale properly in a 1440p panel!
Did the ps4 pro detected the monitor as a 4k monitor? Because that’s what the ps5 does when plugged in to it and the image is then downscaled. I expected the ps4 pro to do the same since it also has a hdmi 2.0 port
@@carlosribeiroo Yes it did, but the result was awfull both for 4K and 1080p games. I have now returned to my 12 years old 1080p led TV and everything looks perfect again. For the PS4 pro you only have 2 panel options , 4K or 1080, It doesn't support 1440p resolution.
Yes, one the pa5 you can’t use 1440p as well, but when selecting 4k it worked pretty well giving a sharp output in every game I have tried which is very different from what happened to you
I want to upgrade to a dual monitor setup I currently have the LG27GL83A-B for my ps5 and pc do you think the LG27GP83B-B would be good or should I go with a 1080p 240hz monitor or higher
Honestly 180hz feels like plenty in a panel that has fast response times like this 27gp850 so my advice would be to not go with any 240hz option out the currently, unless you have to money to go for the asus pg29qm
@@carlosribeiroo I ordered the monitor thanks to you but my last question is will I be using the monitor all the time oc to 180hz or be switching back to 165hz and what dual monitor stand do you recommend
I have mine set to 180z all the time and it’s great that way. I use an amazon basics monitor arm that was around 30 euros and works decently well. If you are going to be moving your monitors regularly go for an arm that has some sort of hidraulics so that it’s easier to move and lock into position
Hello! Is this monitor good before calibrating and out of the box for editing? At least good enough if not excellent. Would you recommend it for mild editing and not intense colour sensitive media creation?
Hey! Well out of the box using the gamer 1 profile the monitor is using a dci p3 color profile meaning that content in the srgb (basically most things online) color space will look extra saturated. You can either use the stock rgb profile on the monitor to make this issue go away but the picture will look worse in comparison I can also send you my icm profile after the calibration which was made for my exact panel and will potentially look of if used in another monitor, but it can be a great way to improve color with minimal effort for you
Hey! If you can setup a reminder on your phone and get back to me in maybe 1 month I will be more then happy to get this for you. Currently I am in the process of moving my entire life to another country and i won’t have my pc setup for at least the next two weeks, but in a month I hope to be back!
@@ducoteaw Hey! Most of the settings changed are very panel dependant and are very likely to do more harm than good when it comes to your particular panel. With that said these are some of the essential things to have a pretty good starting accuracy for all 27GP850's Profile Gamer 1 Overclock ON Black Stabilizer 50 Response time Fast Contrast 70 Sharpness 50 Gamma Mode 2 Color Temp Warm
Hey! Honestly there isn't really anything to show. It now supports 1440p and hopefully in the future more games will support that resolution natively but for now everything stays pretty much the same
Maybe the Samsung odyssey line? Honestly if hdr is your priority most tv’s will give you a better image for the price, hdr monitors are still either terrible or expensive
@@carlosribeiroo nevermind then, thanks for your response, I mainly use the monitor for PC but ocasionally plug my ps5 into it so I just wanted to know if there is such an option :)
Carlos, how is the IPS glow on your unit? I'm returning it because the IPS glow on mine is horrible on the left side and not only in black scenes. Even cycling throughout colors when testing/looking for dead pixels, the left side is more brighter! Really disappointed.
Hey! I had 2 monitors and ended up returning one because of something similar. So if you are not happy with your current maybe look into exchanging it since they are no all bad in terms of backlight bleed
@@craiyohnNo, not really. The only advantage of leaving the downscaling to the monitor is that your screenshots and video recordings will be 4k instead of 1440p, but that is about it. Haven't thought about this small difference till your question but honestly don't overthink it, either option will result in a very similar final image :)
Just recently I had a friend asking me the same thing and he ended up buying this same monitor for slightly more money then I paid almost 2 years ago. Truth is if 1440p high refresh with good motion quality is what you are looking for this is still one of the best options for this price. 240-360hz options are still a fair bit more expensive and harder to justify the expense
Hello, i hope you could help me I got the 27gp850 for my PS5. I later discovered that it only supports HDMI 1.4, not 2.0. This makes it impossible to play at 120Hz in PS5. How can I play at 120hz on my PS5? Thanks in advance
If you simply search on amazon for "dual monitor arm" you will find countless that look identical to this as I can't even find the exact model that I bought years ago
Hello really hope you can help. Confused between this monitor and the 27 GN800-B for my ps5 Also many people are telling me that its not worth getting 1440 p monitor and instead get 1080p is this true?
I have no experience with the that particular monitor but from a quick google search it looks very similar to the one on my video, except with slightly lower refresh rate, which for console use is irrelevant. As far as 1440 vs 1080p for console use there will be a difference but maybe not the one you are expecting. From a normal viewing distance, 1080p or 1440p can look fairly similar. However with most 1440p monitors you will get a hdmi2.0 port that can downscale the signal to the monitors resolution. Your ps5 will see the 1440p monitor as a 4k capable display, and the monitor will scale down that 4k signal to 1440p resulting in a sharper image very close to 4k in a 27” monitor. You will also get access to 1440p natively for games that support that resolution and up to 1440p 120hz
@@carlosribeiroo the only difference i have seen is that the GP850 is nano ips LCD while the other one is just IPS lcd and the gp850 is brighter quite confused really hope u can suggest something
Hi, thanks for the review. I’d want buy this monitor for my Ps4 slim, for now, because at December I’ll buy a gaming pc. My question is: How it works for ps4 slim?
Well from what I find online the PS4 Slim has an HDMI 1.4 port which makes the downscaling part that I talk about in this video not work with it. With that said the PS4 slim will work with the monitor but it will most likely be limited to a 1080p output which isn't ideal for a 1440p monitor and you will get a blurrier image then you would if you simply connected the PS4 to a native 1080p monitor. So my advice if you are planning on using the PS4 Slim and the PC on the same monitor is to go with a 1080p one. The only Playstations that support the downscaling like I talked about in the video are the PS4 Pro and the PS5 since only those ahve HDMI 2.0 ports which are a requirement for this feature
honestly I haven't really looked at 1080p monitors for a while so I can't really give the best advice, but the LG 27GN750 looks pretty similar to the monitor I reviewed in this video appart from being 1080p and 240hz. But browse some reviews! Maybe you can find something that fits your needs better
Hey! Those settings will be wrong for your panel. I know this was not what you wanted to hear but even between my panel and a friend of mine the settings were WILDLY different. My monitor is accurate with RGB values very close to 50 but on his they were all around 45.
Yes to both questions! The only thing it does NOT support is VRR since the implementation of VRR of the PS5 is dependent on HDMI 2.1 so games that have a 40fps mode will not have that option available on this monitor since those games use a 120hz output with VRR to achieve low input delay at 40fps
Honestly, I don't think you can find an HDMI 2.1 compatible monitor for the same money or below, but I might be wrong here. Most if not all 1440p high refresh monitors come with only HDMI 2.0 and display port, making them all have the same compromises with VRR for console use.
The PS5 does not support 1440p. No screen allows the PS5 to output 1440p at any refresh rate. You can do 4K60hz and 1080p120hz with this monitor and the PS5
@@carlosribeiroo how does the 4k on this monitor compare to other actual 4k monitors? Is it the same, similar, or can you tell the difference? I'm asking because I'm a bit scared it won't look as good on the LG monitor since it's not true 4k
@@JG4AU just try it on a game that supports it like warzone for example and you should have a toggle in the game setting to switch between 4k60 and 1080p120hz
To fix the color issues, did I understand correctly that you re-calibrated the sRGB profile for sRGB and some other profile like Gamer 1/2 for DCI-P3? So then you use Gamer 1/2 for HDR content and sRGB for SDR content?
Hey! Here is what I did. I calibrated the gamer 1 profile for dci p3. This results in both accurate srgb and dci p3. The way the default srgb profile works is that it simply removes the very edges of every color resulting in a more desaturated picture, more accurate then the default gamer 1 profile, but still not correct. The main issues with the gamer 1 profile out of the box is that colors close to red like oranges are set to red, that happens due to the lack of calibration and is something that every monitor with wide gamut support will suffer from when displaying srgb content (which is pretty much all online content) Color is a difficult subject to explore given how complex it can get but hopefully this helped you out!
It’s almost a perfect solution and the final profile only ends up with slightly over saturated reds when displaying srgb content, something that you can easily work around given how small that oversaturation is! It was truly night and day after calibration and I can definitely see people getting disappointed if they do color critical work and never calibrate this monitor!
How ist it to play with a Rx 570 8gb on it? For example Valo, GTA, Forza, Battlefield? I have a Ryzen 7 1700x Aaaand the monitor is for the Futur too..
Lg made minor revisions hence the different name, but it is still the same monitor. Still is a solid option for the price for ps5 and pc gaming. The ps5 now natively supports 1440p making it even better supported by that platform since the video was made
@@carlosribeiroo Hi Carlos, do you have specific settings to recommend on both the monitor and PS5? I am not sure how to get the best out of this monitor for PS5 after just ordering it!
@@Bannerzz96 the ps5 will take care of its own settings for the most part, just make sure you set the monitor to the gamer 1 preset with gamma 2 and don’t use hdr as that is unfortunately not good at all in this monitor
What do you think about 32GP850? Is it good for PS5? I usually play racing games and I was looking for a monitor 32" to play at 1080p 120hz around this price. Thanks :)
I have the 32GP850, and it works perfectly with the ps5. I also play on oc, so no issues at all. I will say one thing, it does have a alot of ips glow, but it all depends on the if you win the panal lottery. Its a great montior for the money man. You should try it out.
@@Pinkfloyd1173 thanks man! I bought it and I'm enjoying it. Fps games are great on the monitor! And out of the box it is really colorful which for some people it might come out as not super color accurate but if all you do is games you probably will enjoy the high saturation that you get out of the box
Maybe it’s a cable issue? The monitor supports downscaling from 4k that’s why it displays that, but the cable needs to be at least hdmi 2.0 compatible. Also recently the ps5 added 1440p support natively which if enabled is a great option for most games as well
Well, most importantly if you don't notice anything weird just by looking at it don't worry too much. Every display has imperfections, no matter the model or brand, so if you are happy with the image on yours just enjoy it and go play some games :) If you really want to check it out, on this model it is more easily seen when the display is completely black and you can see that the edge of the monitor is brighter then the center, this is normal to all IPS monitors. What can happen sometimes is that this glow can be uneven or even slightly color shift to either blue or yellow. But like I said, if you can't spot it during daily use don't worry about it :)
Absolutely! It still is pretty uncontested for the money. You can find better for more money for the sweet spot for this monitor is still there and if I was to buy a monitor today I would probably buy this one again
If you are finding both monitors at the same price I would go for the LG for the slightly higher refresh rate but more importantly for the cleaner motion caused by the better tuned overdrive options. But they are both really similar products
I have not tried that monitor so I don’t know what you expect of me. From what I know they both support the ps5 and they both support 120hz on the ps5 at 1440p
hi I bought this lg 27gn850p-b screen I have input lag on my ps5 even at 120 fps!! the screen is fluid but not too much I tried normal response time fast very the same any idea?
so before I had a iiyama ips 120hz 1ms screen I had the same thing on the LG I thought that the thing would be resolved and no...only on the television in the living room it works very well a 140 with vrr and allm to tell you..And what can this input lag come from knowing that my controllers are good wired too.@@carlosribeiroo
Linked in the description of every video you can find the origin of the music. Most of them are from streambeats and you can find them on Spotify and on their website. Most music is from their LoFi and synthwave playlists. Can’t remember the exact name of the one used on this video but if you search for a bit you will find it there
Bought the 27GP850-B it could not do 180hz, changing any of the adaptive sync settings made the screen go black, turning motion blur reduction on made the screen go black, while trying to change the 180hz it suddenly went down to 120hz and would not change back to the default 165hz. Returned it right away i cant imagine how this thing got through QC testing with so many defects ?
I got the 32 inch version yesterday and i can set it to 180Hz without a problem. I use a high quality DP 1.4 cable from Club3D. When the monitor is stuck on 120Hz than you probably use an old cable with not enough bandwith or your cable is just terrible quality. Issues like this i only saw on cheap cables with terrible shielding and cables for lower standards. I also highly recommend to not use the included cables. They are cheap bad quality cables and it is a hit or miss to get the monitor working with them. The first thing i did with every monitor i bought is to throw away the included cables.
Well, it really depends on the budget and the type of games you play. If you want to use 120hz at all then a monitor like this one is a good middle ground between having a little bit of everything whilst not breaking the bank like a true 4K 120hz monitor with hdmi 2.1 port

What a coincidence! Enjoy your new monitor!

Hi!
Great review!
Does this monitor support VRR with the PS5 now? This could be a dealbreaker for me atm…
Thanks!
It does not! The trick for VRR support on the ps5 is to look for a monitor that has hdmi 2.1 ports instead of hdmi 2.0
I’m okay with color saturation for gaming. Exactly what I’m looking for lol
Hi Carlos! Can I ask the make and model of that mount you're using? Great vid!
Speaker less minitors are my preference that way I don't pay for spmething I have 0 interest in, great review.

Hello, nice video! Im looking for a good ps5 monitor to play 1440p with 120hz, does this monitor support both at the same time with Ps5?
It does! Since last year when Sony added 1440p support natively it is now a good option if bought for a good price!
Some general setting you can double-check are, make sure to reset the default monitor profiles, use gamer 1 and in the picture settings use Contrast 70, sharpness 50, gamma mode 2, gamma warm (if you can't calibrate)
After all this, if you still find the image too saturated, your next best bet is to try and use a software like "novideo sRGB" to clamp the monitor to sRGB properly and not like the monitor built in srgb mode.
Hope this helps
The size of lg in your review is 27'' or 32''?
Nice review!
It’s 27” but I’m pretty sure they have a 32” version as well. Probably called 32gp850 instead of 27gp850

@@carlosribeiroo You are the only one who also tested the monitor with the Ps5. I didn't find anything about it except for your video. Nice

I’m currently in a mental battle between
Gigabyte G34WQC A-SA vs LG 27GP850-B.

My concern is in 1440p resolution can this monitor to achieve 120fps in game's with this capability?
Now I playing in a 4k monitor 60hz but with a TN panel you think in the LG in 2k the picture quality has be better because have IPS panel?

Yes. To all the questions
For the price this monitor is one of the best choices for 1440p 120hz on the ps5

I talked about color accuracy for color critical work and gaming, normal day to day desktop should be the easiest bar to clear and will look good regardless of the color calibration I had to do for video editing work
Hi brother I know this is an old video, but it can also do 1440p/120hz on the ps5 too right? You only mentioned 1080p
It can! At the time the PS5 did not support 1440p natively at all that is why I mentioned only 1080p
If you want to know the answer to questions similar to this for future devices a good tip is to google the bandwidth for a particular resolution/refresh rate combo.
For example the hdmi 2.0 port is limited to 18gbps. 1440p120hz is only 13.27gbps which fits inside the bandwidth available
@@carlosribeiroo ok beautiful thank you. I bought the monitor over a year ago and was planning to buy the new ps5 pro, so should be all good 🙏
Boa noite.
Hello, are you ready to recommend this monitor for ps5? I play cod warzone…
Hey! For Warzone (and any COD vanguard) you can either play in 4k60p (with the monitor downscaling to 1440p and looking pretty great) or 1080p120hz, so it’s pretty much as good as it gets to play COD on the ps5 for a relatively affordable price
i can't believe i can actually buy this one for $300 in the scandinavia
One more question what kind of led string you have behind your monitor? Visible at 5:11 for example. It seems to put the same light that exists in the screen, sick
I have 4 Philips hue play bars stuck on the back of the monitor to achieve that effect
Nice video....i got the samsung odyssey g5...and i saw i ghosting with fifa 22 on ps5....do you think this monitor its perfect without problem like ghosting or something? Or better buy the lg27gn950?
Can the LG 27GP83B-B downscale? Same as this monitor. I got a ps5 so I want to know if it can downscale. Thanks 👍🏻
Contrast is fine side by side with second monitor that is 1000:1
If you are doing calibration with a colorimeter you can slight increase this 800:1 ratio to around 900:1, but that is very panel dependant
@@carlosribeiroo thank you so much man. Im gettin it!

Hi, I doubt you will answer my question since you released this video over 2 years ago, but right now I'm trying to figure out which monitor to get; this one, or the Dell G2724D
I only play on PC but I use it for everything. The Dell has a Local Dimming feature, but it's not very good and it cannot be turned off when using HDR. That one also has a better stand, but for some reason it's also much more expensive where I live, exactly the same price as the LG one. I've seen that this Dell monitor is much cheaper in the US.
Hey! Of course, I will reply :)
From all that you said, I have some advice.
As for the Dell you talked about I haven't seen anything regarding it, so I can't really comment too much but from what I can tell it looks similar to the LG so you probably are fine with that option as well but can't really help much with anything more specific since I haven't tried it
Thanks!
Hi Carlos, the resolution when playing on PS5 is 2K or 4K? Thanks
Currently the ps5 already supports 1440p natively but even if you are playing games that don’t support that resolution, either the monitor or the ps5 will fit 4k to the monitor available pixels creating an image that is really really close to native 4k at a normal viewing distance
Where can i get this wallpaper like on the monitor? And like for great video
Heya, really enjoyed the video, but I have a quick question for you. Would you still recommend this monitor now, or would you recommend something else around the same price?

Ahahaha first of all thanks for the kind words, really happy you enjoyed the video and I’ll make sure I add more cat in the future :)
When it comes to the monitor I think it’s a great option for the price that it costs. You can play 1080p 180hz on the pc no problem, on the Xbox I’m pretty sure you can play 1440p120hz but most games that support 120hz are limited to 1080p (which you can also get with this monitor) what you can’t get on console is 4K (downscaled by the monitor to 1440p)and 120hz at the same time (for the very limited games that support it)
That final question I’m not sure you can reduce the screen size on the monitor menus at all, so maybe you have to do that via software if possible, but honestly I wouldn’t do that and just enjoy the larger size :)
@@carlosribeiroo Thank you so much for your response. It helps a lot!
Absolutely!
hey there! have you checked out the aw2724dm and if so what are your thoughts on it for console gaming.
Hey! I haven’t tested it out but just of the spec sheet I probably will be similar to this LG but support VRR because of the hdmi 2.1 port.
Anyone have this for ps5 since the 1440p update? Is it good for competitive shooters
@@carlosribeiroo Cool! do you have any recommendations on what settings to use it with the PS5?
Just use the “normal” option on the motion smoothing options since for anything 60fps that will result in the least ghosting and for 120hz it’s very close to the fast option for it to be worth it to constantly change back and forth. Also avoid hdr, it’s really not worth it with this monitor and it will only make the picture look less saturated and overall worse then with the normal gamer 2 profile
any chance of posting the color setting values?
How does it perform at 60hz- 1080p though? I'm about to buy one for my PS4 pro and Switch.
Thanks in advance.

You can either use the stock rgb profile on the monitor to make this issue go away but the picture will look worse in comparison
I can also send you my icm profile after the calibration which was made for my exact panel and will potentially look of if used in another monitor, but it can be a great way to improve color with minimal effort for you

Do you use auto resolution that downscales 4k to 1440p on ps5? Or you manually select 1440 on ps5? Which is better?
More often than not they result in the same final output, it is just a matter of who does the downscaling, the ps5 or the monitor.
@@carlosribeiroo if i leave the downscaling to the monitor does this lessen the load for ps5? Or there's no particular pros on this?
@@craiyohnNo, not really. The only advantage of leaving the downscaling to the monitor is that your screenshots and video recordings will be 4k instead of 1440p, but that is about it. Hello really hope you can help. Confused between this monitor and the 27 GN800-B for my ps5
Also many people are telling me that its not worth getting 1440 p monitor and instead get 1080p is this true?

@@carlosribeiroo Thanks for the answer, so can you reccomend me a great 1080p monitor around 300€
honestly I haven't really looked at 1080p monitors for a while so I can't really give the best advice, but the LG 27GN750 looks pretty similar to the monitor I reviewed in this video appart from being 1080p and 240hz.
But browse some reviews! Maybe you can find something that fits your needs better
I just bought this monitor for $299 😍
Still a solid performer in 2023!
can you share the settings that you arrived while using the calibrator?
Hey! Those settings will be wrong for your panel. I know this was not what you wanted to hear but even between my panel and a friend of mine the settings were WILDLY different.
My monitor is accurate with RGB values very close to 50 but on his they were all around 45.
Still worth it in 2024?
How good is this for PS5? Will it work at 120hz 1440p?
Yes to both questions! The only thing it does NOT support is VRR since the implementation of VRR of the PS5 is dependent on HDMI 2.1 so games that have a 40fps mode will not have that option available on this monitor since those games use a 120hz output with VRR to achieve low input delay at 40fps
@@carlosribeiroo Thank you...
@@carlosribeiroo One more questions if I may... Is there anything out there better for aprox. same price? Ty
Honestly, I don't think you can find an HDMI 2.1 compatible monitor for the same money or below, but I might be wrong here. Most if not all 1440p high refresh monitors come with only HDMI 2.0 and display port, making them all have the same compromises with VRR for console use.
Does it support 1440p at 120 hz on the ps5? Or only 60
The PS5 does not support 1440p.
Hey! Of course it’s not as crisp as a true 4K, but from 1m away you will have a hard time telling the difference
@@carlosribeiroo how do I get it to do 1080 120???

Your best bet would be to find a HDMI 2.1 to DisplayPort 1.4 cable!
The main issues with the gamer 1 profile out of the box is that colors close to red like oranges are set to red, that happens due to the lack of calibration and is something that every monitor with wide gamut support will suffer from when displaying srgb content (which is pretty much all online content)
Color is a difficult subject to explore given how complex it can get but hopefully this helped you out!
@@carlosribeiroo Yeah it definitely did, thanks :) Good to know you can fix both gamuts in one profile 👌

How is yours running on 3840x2160 60hz, But when I go to my PS5 and put the same resolution it says not supported? Have the same monitor btw.
Maybe it’s a cable issue? The monitor supports downscaling from 4k that’s why it displays that, but the cable needs to be at least hdmi 2.0 compatible.
Also recently the ps5 added 1440p support natively which if enabled is a great option for most games as well

Hi Carlos, how to check Backlight bleeding and IPS GLOW for this monitor? Thank you
Well, most importantly if you don't notice anything weird just by looking at it don't worry too much. Every display has imperfections, no matter the model or brand, so if you are happy with the image on yours just enjoy it and go play some games :)
If you really want to check it out, on this model it is more easily seen when the display is completely black and you can see that the edge of the monitor is brighter then the center, this is normal to all IPS monitors.
What can happen sometimes is that this glow can be uneven or even slightly color shift to either blue or yellow.
But like I said, if you can't spot it during daily use don't worry about it :)
