But if its a difference of £30-50, I would recommend the LG.
Hi Khant, it depends on how accurate you need your colours to be. Personally, I would not recommend it if you are really precise about colours. For general use and chopping up videos / transitions, its perfect. Just the colours are not the top picks.

I’m not an expert on macs, but I know that they are excellent at content creation. So, the colour performance and maybe HDR become important. It depends on your use case - if you are just using the max for daily use, then this monitor is a bargain. But if you really want to use it for content creation, and better connectivity like usb c, then I would recommend dishing out for something like the LG 32UN880-B UltraFine Ergo. Personally, if I have a Mac mini and MacBook, I’d like to have usb c connectivity, 4K and the absolute best colours. Basically, find similar specs to Apple’s own displays (extremely expensive, I know!). Otherwise, if feel like I’m missing out on the beautiful (albeit controlled and suffocating IMO) experience of macOS. Hope this helps…

@@DoubleTakeTechUk thanks so much for the reply. Apparently yt doesn't notify me, like normal lol. Yeah I looked up my current monitor on that site you used pretty awesome info. Seems like there isn't any info on new monitors. I actually decided to buy the Benq mobiuz Ex2710u, just decided to go all out. Hdmi 2.1
Good review. A quick question - for gaming and not for photo editing what settings you use on this monitor? Thanks!
Hi Easy, thank you for the comment. The information around the settings is on our video: ua-cam.com/video/HUIHKnDwnm4/v-deo.html
I hope that helps 🥸
Could you tell me why my lg ultragear 27 gp850 b settings are greyed out
Can you suggest an all rounder monitor at this price range (300-350 pounds). I'd be using my monitor for work(software development), occasional gaming(not highly competitive though), lightroom and premier pro video editing, watching movies. I am almost satisfied with this monitor, but poor contrast ratio makes me feel like it'll affect my movie watching experience. Is there any other monitor that's better than this in this price range?
Good question. I would recommend the MSI MAG274QRF-QD. The contrast ratio is better, and overall performance is slightly better as well, and now similar price range.
I recommend having a look at this video from hardware unboxed, I can’t beat these guys in real testing experience and recommendation, but I agree with them on the MSI based on my research; ua-cam.com/video/15YOh8SqiRc/v-deo.html
@@DoubleTakeTechUk But in my country this MSI monitor costs around 470 pounds where as LG GP850 costs only 350 pounds. So, is there any other monitor at this price range, shall I end up with purchasing LG itself. I hope it's contrast ratio won't heavily affect my movie experience.
@@sai9692 in that case, the HPx27q, or the odyssey G7.
Only the G7 will truly fix the contrast ratio issue at this price point. It seems to be dropping in price as well, so you might be able to bag one at a good price.
hello, what do you think about the Asus vg27wq1b? Is this a poor monitor? I ask because I'm obsessed with VA panels however this lg gp850 I'm testing is also not bad, but I'm confused by this low contrast ratio and can't decide.
What monitor arm stand is used in this video?
Its the Duronic DM12X1
I just got a LG UltraGear 32GN600-B - LED-Monitor - QHD - 80 cm (32") and i cant run 1440p or 2560 resolution because max supported is full hd 1920 by 1080.
I have pentium g3240 with integrated graphics...should i upgrade to i3 or get a new graphics card just enough to run this resolution so that i can do multimedia stuff and not into gaming much..
Interesting question! I3 would be the cheaper option I suppose, but the integrated graphics would be so bad.
An old gpu wouldn’t be very expensive either. It highly depends on what gpu you find, but I would recommend pairing something like a AND R7 250 or Nvidia GT 730 with that
This monitor cost 320€ in my country but i think its too much for this as it doesnt have HDMI2.1 support as i want to connect it to my laptop(Lenovo Legion 7i pro with RTX 4090 and 240hz screen) i will probably add some more money and get Samsung Odyssey G6 which have 240hz and 2.1 HDMI support and cost 400€
Thx for the review . I am gonna buy a new monitor . I have BENQ2720z TN panel so I wanna upgrade to 1440p .my main usage gonna be multiplayer fps games specially fast base games like apex legends then watching movies . my current choices are the g7 odyssey the 27inch and the LG Ultra Gear 27GN850-B both are almost with same prices in my country I am too confused which one to buy I want good image quality with low blur cuz my eyes is so sensitive any help will be appreciated . is the different between the 144hz and 240hz worth it ?? . can I overclock the LG to 180hz ?? is there a big different between the LG u reviewed and the one I post because we don't have the model u have in your country.
Hi thanks for the comment.
At the same price, G7 is better hands down. 240 hz is nice to have, but it’s the contrast ratio that makes it so much better. I had the G7 before this, and it’s still my favourite. If you don’t mind the curve, and your only viewing from in front m, then G7.
I went through this in my other video; check it out. G7 is better all the way, as long as you can live with it’s “quirks”

@@DoubleTakeTechUk Thx again .ya btw I watched the video u posted with your g7 experience and I put a like btw :D . but did u have issue with g7 GSYNC or they fixed it ??
@@ahmadfawzy5175 that flickering issue is a known issue and present for many people, but it’s not something I noticed once I installed the latest firmware. There’s also the scanline issue; this only appears in very rare images. These were not the reasons I changed, I would still recommend the G7. It’s a faster, better panel at the same price. That being said, if you want to be safe, go for the LG.
Thanks for the likes and support!!!
what would you say if the gp850 was available for 225£?
Bargain! Used or new? That’s very low!
@@DoubleTakeTechUk used, refurbished supposedly in very good condition
@@Anaumalus if there is no doubt on it’s quality, it’s a good buy. How do you verify that it’s panel is still in good condition/ age? If you have the option to use it, test it (dead pixels, IPs glow, colour performance) and return if any problems, then it might be worth it.
Great review thanks!
Hi , i currently own ASUS pg278qr and think about upgrade, anything you could recommend? cheers.
What’s your budget?
Endgame monitor right now = The Alienware QD OLED. Still a bit pricey though.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk hi , its around 500 pounds
@@templarius22 at 1440p - MSI MAG274QRF-Qd, gigabyte m27q x or odyssey G7. Budget option with very similar performance - LG27GP850.
Hope this helps!
@@DoubleTakeTechUk thanks , i'll sure have a look on these
It's a great monitor! Absolutely fantastic value for your money. You an tell that LG actually tests their products. It goes with anything you want to pair it with and to my surprise, you an actually set it to 4K with a max of 60hz. I really enjoyed your review. Good points all around. I'm curious though, have you played with the game modes? Do they actually change more than the contrast, brightness and stuff? I've set it to RTS as that looked best to me. I heard a reviewer saying you should set it to srgb for best colour accuracy. I tried it but, didn't look good at all. What is your opinion on this?
Thanks for the awesome comment man! In terms of modes, have game mode 1 tweaked for visual games, game mode 2 for fps and and i actually use the rts mode for rts games a lot. Reader mode is good for when I am doing work.
Srgb does not look good I agree, I used that exclusively when doing any video editing or photo editing.
It’s annoying to keep changing modes, but it’s the only way to get the most out of your monitor for each purpose. Hope that helps!
Indeed, i have this also for around 8 days now and i am verry happy with this monitor. But i need a new pc haha. 1050ti is not good enough for many games to play on 2K.
I m confused which one to buy between the 2 monitors
1. Asus TUF VG27AQL1A
2. lg 27gp850-b
Can you recommend which one is best for daily office work and little bit of gaming.
The gp850 is definitely the better monitor. The ASUS lags behind in consistent response rate performance. It does depend on the budget, the ASUS will still do the job for daily work and bit of gaming, so if you are saving a lot of money, then go for the ASUS.
But if its a difference of £30-50, I would recommend the LG.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk thanks, any major difference between lg 27gp850-b and MSI MAG274QRF-QD version?
@@karst89rengan the MSI has better contrast ratio, so overall rated a bit better then the LG.

when is lg replacing LG 27GP850 with a new model!!!
Lg 32GQ850 is out now my friend, that’s the spiritual successor to this.
Is that good for designers & video editors? I want to use it for my job & gaming.
Hi Khant, it depends on how accurate you need your colours to be. Personally, I would not recommend it if you are really precise about colours.
For general use and chopping up videos / transitions, its perfect. Just the colours are not the top picks.
(for all those who have the problem of the loose frame) Hello, I am contacting you regarding the LG Ultragear 27GP850 screen.
Do you have the top frame that is not well fixed?
I had 3 screens of this brand, and only one out of 3 was correctly attached to the top.

You should improve your microphone setup. what you are using now is amateur grade, you are muffled sounding. Good quality mics can be had today for peanuts money...
Thank you for the feedback. We've had a few bad audio days in the past but are working to improve this massively. If you come across some of our newer videos, you will hear the difference. Appreciate the honest feedback though 👍
Do u know if this exact monitor is compatible with ps5 vrr
Freesync basic o extended a 144hz?
If you are using freesync, normally extended is recommended but it may introduce screen flickering and reduce the refresh rate. Settings video coming out soon 🤓
Motion blur option worst thing on earth ...
If you want get dry eyes and headash go ahead use it !
Woowwww I bought 27" x 3 today I am 100% sastified

THIS MONITOR OR AORUS FI27Q
Marginal gains with the Aorus. Go for the better budget buy. LG IMO!
Would you recommend dell S2721DGF as an alternative?
Yes, if it’s cheaper. Before this, about a year ago, the Dell was my preferred budget option. However, I think the discontinued them.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk what about dell G2724D is it better then this one?
I got a clip like thing dunno what it is
is this monitor good for mac mini too? Please help
400€ in EU budget price really?
That’s expensive. We are getting it for £279 here in the UK at the moment. No Black Friday bargains?
