Portland, JAMAICA in the Building!!!
I swear to god samsung downgraded S22U with an update! Can you reach to folks at samsung or universe ice about this? im not as popular as you. Also, do you maybe have a non updated S22U to compare? Im very courious
Thanks you. For the review
I like this phone s 23 ultra
@@sicr626 yes you are right. I checked back the earlier S22U camera reviews, the sharpness etc were just as good as S23U now. So they clearly downgraded the S22U camera so that S23U looks like a big upgrade
What if companies purposely make the old smartphone cameras perform worse during the time of new launch to convince the world that their next Iteration is a huge upgrade ? Just a software update prior to launch would do!! Just look at the moon photo on S22 for an example !
Yeah I think they will ruin their previous flagship smartphone camera when they will release new flagship phones...
You have a point.. I still have my S22 ultra and the camera is amazing,it has gotten better and better with the updates. I'm not switching..
Don’t update your phone that’s the answer , updating your phone sometimes ruin your settings 😅
not only camera even some s22 ultra users reported some lag and performance issues after some updates.
Good point
Isn't that interesting that s22 ultra used to take better photos of the moon and a couple of updates later ...the shots worsening, very convenient degrading once the new alpha dog is out?
Dangerous theory Flavio. You can expect a knock on the door from the Samsung men in black any moment now... 🤣🤣🤣👍
Typical Samsung MO
Honestly s22u pictures looks suspiciously blurry..
@@lgjromuald Right
@Daniel Todoran that's for sure, but the Exynos version of S22U was truly underwhelming. It's a shame Samsung even offered that to European users.
That's marketing at 1st s22 produce beautiful images then s23 is out it produces more stunning images, I guess these Samsung producers secretly degrade s22 ultra to give way to s23 ultra.
When putting the photos side-by-side, the S23 Ultra is obviously better than the S22 Ultra, however, in everyday use, it'll barely be this noticeable. The S22 Ultra will still take great photos.
And for that matter, any flagship will.
Not in all instances. There's still some instances where the S22 Ultra looks comparable or better. Videos also appear to be comparable. S23 Ultra is better at night though
I personally have issues with my S22U photos. Those issues show in the comparison, and I'm glad they're fixed. It depends how heavily you use photography on it I guess
You are right. I have the S22 ultra and it takes good photos. There is no reason to upgrade to s23 ultra
@@adamgreenhill110 i mean, it's not a dramatic change. Sure there's some improvements, but then there's still some instances where S22 Ultra is comparable or even better. Does it justify the money for those changes or the upcoming S24 Ultra redesign?
One of the reasons I upgraded was the cameras. I had so many issues on the S22U, sometimes in night mode the S22U would straight up refuse to process the photo, even if I tried 5 or 6 times and it would just not do it at all until I just gave up on capturing the moment. And that happened especially often with zoom shots, and there are so many instances where I just abandoned taking a moon photo because it would deliver the result in the video, because it would just refuse to process it. This was an issue never fixed since its release
Funnily enough here in the UK we had the exynos chip I bought the phone and sent it back within two days I had constant lag, over heating issues menus were freezing up taking forever for a call to end when you press the red button I wasn't happy at all with it
As a lover of both android and iOS I decided to buy the 13 pro max instead as much as I liked the 13 pro max I sold it for the s23 ultra and I am not disappointed
The s23 ultra is ultra quick in the menus it charges quickly and all the games I play play smoothly without any issues today I watched few hours of UA-cam and a movie and my battery only dropped 17 percent
Overall I am impressed with this 23 ultra I didn't love the iPhone but I did like using it daily the only thing I miss about Apple is the Apple watch this is shame I cannot use it on Android as I don't find the galaxy watches great
I have the feeling that Samsung nerfs the cameras of its old models as seen in the image of the moon so that when the new galaxy comes out it will be seen that there is an improvement
Australia version has snapdragon and camera is fine. Exynos is notoriously a big problem to camera due to weaker CPU/GPU processing. It was a bad move from Samsung that they are stuck with Exynos for some country. Like previously S21 did insulted Australia with Exynos only available. Finally after that S22 came out Snapdragon made a return for Australia and I grabbed it S22 Ultra. It was very good phone and I will keep it. The difference between S22U Snapdragon and S23U Snapdragon is too small and is not much of an upgrade so its no point for me to upgrade, the only minor upgrade were the image stabilization and the zoom in. Thats about it. Only major problem from S23U is terrible flicker in OLED variable refresh rate can be annoying to some people with sensitive eyes.
Are you sure this was the s22 ultra you had there ? Cause I have one and trust me the photos look NOTHING like the horrible ones depicted in this vid
Your camera is all kids of messed up in the S22, mine looks nothing like that for the snapdragon
Will the S23 camera software come to the s22 ultra ? If so approx how long will it take to get it ?
video quality is on totally different level, much better than on my previous s22U with Exynos. Regarding test, I actually like much more an outcome from s23U on outdoor 3 photo :)
Thanks for the video, very helpful! I have S22u snapdargon version and I always post-process the photos in dng (raw) format, obviously the ones that interest me the most. And there appears the true power of the s22u. The differences in result are "abysmal" with the jpg that the mobile gives me, in sharpness, noise and dynamic range. I usually use lightroom (on pc, not on mobile) in combination with the topaz suite. Obviously the S23u is improved in processing and sensor, but I don't know if having the S22U the price difference is comparable to the difference in the photos. Thanks again for the comparison. Saludos!!
I like that you include raw too, wished you showed more about raw and also expertraw...
The main question remains..... is it worth the upgrade from the S22 Ultra. One day it sounds like you don't think so and in the other you imply it is.
Yes. I have upgraded, ( because I needed more storage 😂 )
@aforce2314 thanks for the info. I already have 512mb so storage isn't an issue for me.
Samsung is known for the multiple patches that come after the launch.. So be sure that things will be improved.
Now that S23 ULTRA has come out, S22 ULTRA has become a 200 euro phone when it was a top camera phone up to 1 month ago
I think you are being a little over dramatic there Manilo. If you can get an S22 Ultra for 200 euros you need to come down from your dope trip and rejoin the real world..🤣🤣🤣👍
@@neilmcguinness4422 agreed. A little too over dramatic..
man i love this comments sections, how different we view things but you make a point manilo😂😂
Good review, is this 22ultra with snapdragon or exynos?
They had 1 year 365 days and all they developed was 10% improvement on their cameras, kinda sad samsung.
At 4:30 I can clearly see that the main camera of S23 Ultra had a fingerprint. This can affect quite a lot the photo quality (specially in backlit situation like this).
till i dont have the actual s23 in hand, i wont be able to judge, i have been using samsung for a whilte since samsung s6 came over, samsung s22 ultra has been a great phone, not a big difference but will check when i get it, zoom wont make big difference, still not as clear as we all expecting it, will review more later when i really do some test side by side between both phones
i am totally agreed with your reviewed. I hold both s22 and s23 ultra, s23 is noticeably better than s22 ultra. I see other views and they said it is similar which is not true. this one is the most accurate review
WooooooW man..The video I've been waiting for❤️❤️❤️
Can 't thank you enough
@ZONEofTECH I swear to god samsung downgraded S22U with an update! Can you reach to folks at samsung or universe ice about this? im not as popular as you. Also, do you maybe have a non updated S22U to compare? Im very courious
When i moved from S7 Edge to S9 the quality of the night photos decreased! Not improved on my Note20Ultra either! Its way better now on my S23Ultra.
I was feel to when moved from S6 edge to note 10+.
I think contributing significantly to some of the differences is the difference in sensors - exynos Samsung vs snapdragon Sony. The Sony just produces better quality pictures.
I don't think the all the improvements are legit.
As someone pointed out rightly, S22 Ultra images were suspiciously blurry and downgraded.
Must be a pure marketing thing.
I guess the ideal comparison should be of the images taken when both phones are fresh out there in the market.
again this theory is interesting🤔🤔
a good point
Believe u should compare S22 ultra photos now and then, when u made the first review, to find out if Samsung is Downloading the camera on s22 ultra to give a chance to S23 ultra.
wow this is really interesting i support this as well
Can you do a comparison where you have 12mp vs 50mp vs 200mp in all lighting conditions? I wonder if it's worth keeping the camera on a higher resolution for those who don't mind about storage.
How about raw photos on the selfie camera? Can you do a comparison?
Is the s22 ultra exynos or snapdragon ?
Exynos
@@ZONEofTECH not a fair comparison then.. should have used snapdragon s22 ultra.
@@V1P3R089 in uk it was available in exynos only
@@sanveerkhanuja3249 I know.. but he could have imported the device.
What was your opinion on s22 ultra, a year before???
Regarding the difference in Macro... isn't it that the Ultrawide with the S23U is fixed focus!?
No both s22 u and s23 u have autofocus for macro mode
I'm just not a fan of Samsung over saturation of colours. Much prefer natural true to life colour photos
Not true on videos though, S22U looks much better.
you in leeds? man teach me how to edit videos i have so much to say
I have the S22U Exynos 8GB, a dumpster-diving phone. Too many issues, but the main one which makes it crap is poor RAM management. Even after a year, it sucks. Just retested; 17 apps open, and on QHD, 10 have to be reloaded when cycling through them. If I put on 720p resolution, 2 apps fully reload, and 9 apps have a delay as they reload to where I left them. Shocking! My Pixel 7 Pro cycling through 21 apps with no reloads, and although it has more RAM, it costs £350 less than the S22U. Overnight the S22U closes most of the apps (Pixel as well), and I assume this is an Android battery-saving feature. My iPhone 13 PM can cycle through 30 apps with no reloads; nearly all stay in memory overnight, saving battery and time reloading them.
I obviously have traded in my S22U for an S23U and hope that improves my experience. Also hoping for much better battery life and less heat (scrolling Twitter warms up my S22U). Hoping the shutter lag is fixed and night photography is improved (noise) as well as 10X zoom in low light (rubbish). A better speaker is hoped for. I suffer from PWM flicker, and the S22U PWM refresh was what we see in $300 phones. Also, proper LTPO, not just 24Hz and hopefully a better FP scanner (old ultrasonic on S22U).
As you can gather, the S22U was an underwhelming, disappointing experience that was badly done by Samsung. No wonder Qualcomm sacked Samsung Fabs. Fingers-crossed.
So once update ate recivied to s22 ultra image qulity will improve right
Another great video. Very informative and helpful. Thank you.
This dude is underrated
What I'm really looking forward to is getting off Exynos. ,Y gf plays footy and extender periods shooting zoomed it would drop performance as it heats up and becomes really laggy where you see a frame or two change in 2 seconds after you take a shot

One thing I'm not happy about with both s22 ultra and s23 ultra is that the shutter lag is still there when taking photos you are the thought that Samsung would have fixed this by now
Thanks for that good review and helpful work to decide if it's worth the upgrade or not
worth it for the smoother video I do use video the most.
Did I miss the part where you mentioned that the battery seems to be much better on s23U than on s22U?
It's a camera comparison not a battery comparison
@@trashhollowknightplayer4199 true. But then again, you can take pictures longer 😂
In Samsung, we trust. Note that Samsung got a reputation of making the cameras better with updates. So brace yourself for better photos in the coming months.
Great video! Thanks
Thank u 😊
Hey! @ZONEofTECH can you please do a camera comparison between Pixel 7 with iPhone 14 and Pixel 7 Pro with iPhone 14 Pro ?
Comparison made meaningless by the fact that it's an exynos S22U😐 the exynos variant isn't relevant. Should've used the QC one
It's very relevant because a lot of the world got the Ex version and now all will be snap dragon.
Ultra 22 king 👑
Quite a few downgrades from the S22 to the S23:
- worse Macro mode
- blue skies look rather cyan now
- oversharpening, especially with 10x telephote
- skin often is brightened way too much
Wondering if Samsung can fix these.
the new main wide lens of the S23 is a huge improvement though
I like the video of the S22 much more, better exposure and way less sharpening. The S23 is too bright and over sharpened.
How about the selfie? Which one's better?
W zeszłym roku s22u kręcił filmy, jak kamera w tv, a dzisiaj pokazujecie go, tak, że s9 lepsze filmy kręci. coś to dziwne.
do you own one are you still experiencing that issue right now?
The Qualcomm S22 Ultra is a lot better than the one you had available. Im not seeing a reason for me to go from the US S22 Ultra to the S23 Ultra, Pixel 8P, nor iPhone 15 PM.
4:21 its the other way round lol s22 looks natural.
Some examples are as if you are talking about s22 ultra and a53 😉If you have s22 ultra wait for s24 ultra. If you have s21 ultra buy s23 ultra.
Interesting comparison! I hope to buy at least one of these smartphones someday. Greetings from Ukraine.
I think is not fair... because you using the exynos version compare... you should use both snapdragon version to compare... thats call fair...
i have the exynos version and i can confirm its not this bad, he must have a faulty device, the exynos is still a sensational phone.
With my S22 Ultra with Exynos chip if it gets to dark it won't use the 10X zoom lens it only uses the 3X even though I'm zooming 10X
If Samsung ever brings Exynos back, I swear by God I'll stop using their products ever again.
Where is the S23 Ultra vs Pixel 7 Pro comparison?
Tomorrow :)
@@ZONEofTECH I swear to god samsung downgraded S22U with an update! Can you reach to folks at samsung or universe ice about this? im not as popular as you. Also, do you maybe have a non updated S22U to compare? Im very courious
how in the F word a 108 mp performs so bad??? this shows how bad samsung optimize their phones.
With 200mp they almost caught up other companies who have much lower MPs.
Samsung = great marketing and.... and thats it
s22 ultra have exynos not snapdragon
Btw, S22 ultra has a really bad AI like it sharpens the pic till it's so bad and u can't see any details and there's too mutch noise. And it has a bad focus issue
it got better with the 1st 5.0 update. But the recent update made the telephoto focus inconsistent n washed out
@Nishid Rai still bad as I have the phone, the 3x camera has a weird blue tint to it, and I don't know why, like the phone can take really good photos but the auto editing makes it so bad, even the raw app edits a little bit
@Qdc_c that's the 1st one I've heard!! For me, it's been great but with recent updates the macro n telephoto performance has degraded. Only the centre portion will be in focus there's no uniformity N the shots lacks colour. Btw have u tried checking ur scene optimizer? Also which chip ru on?
@Nishid Rai yeah I've tried a lot of different things, the best result I had is to close the auto HDR in low light places ( no sunlight but there are lights ) and close the optimizer, and to use either 108mp or to use the raw, that's the best most natural photos I've ever taken ( not professional photos )
And yessss the telephoto got so bad in terms of focus, like the distortion on the edges is unbearable.
And yeah the colors got a bit weird with the last UI update.
I have a Snapdragon chip
This guy work what samsung telling it is so anoying to hear
WTF 200MP camera and takes worse photos than my 20MP DSLR camera. This just tells me the stupidity of phone cameras. Instead of improving the camera electronics and glass they bash another 100MP into a sensor and call it a day. When will this nonsense stop :/
This comment is so good, take this piss beer 🍺
@@SpicyNoodleDragon i support this completely..

Hey, never mind the S23 Ultra, I just want your scooter, I could just see me bombing about on one of those, beats a mobility scooter hands down Dan! 😂❤️xx
I think you dont know how a camera works that is why you don't know how do do a simple comparison having numbers
Anyone having problems unlocking the damn phone??
Can any of the Camera Problems be fixed via Software Updates?(S23 Ultra)
Yes

Nice chemtrails in your photos
Both are Exynos?
No, the S22 Ultra uses the Exynos 2200 processor, while the S23 Ulyra uses the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (for Galaxy) 👍
Great video
Perfect Perfect Excellent Review!!

Not much difference not unless you pixel pip
This improvements are not visible, not unless you pixel pip that's why it is still trash
Please review base S23, I beg you. It's by far the most interesting device this year, compact in size and hopefully they finally fixed the (annoyingly) poor battery life.
It makes me really sick that everyone is just focusing on the super expensive, big, heavy and uncomfortable to hold S23U.
I own the S21 Ultra and as someone with medium sized hands I will never purchase an "Ultra" sized phone ever again, I'm just done with huge phones.
