It depends on the school, the teachers that you had in school, and sometimes how much the parent pushes as well as correcting, incorrect habits. I went to an excellent school and i read better than most people i took classes with and they were white kids. I read a lot. Even to this day i consider myself an avid reader. I make it a point to always be in the middle of a book. When i finish one i immediately start another.
