Absolutely brilliant. Noel's always box office, and the story about Bono was just gold and definitely typical Weller. Loved Noel's cockney accent as well. "Alright, mate!" 🤣
I’ve seen both Noel & Paul many times but I think it was 1998 I had bought a ticket to see Paul in Newport Center. This was pre internet & phones and there was a rumour circulating in the pubs before that Noel was supporting. And indeed he was. Noel came on with an acoustic guitar and sang 5/6 songs.Only about 1000 people there. Great night.
Really great interview, I’ve listened to so many Noel interviews and this one really gets a different angle and you can tell he’s on form and enjoying the topic - really sounds like a true friendship
Brilliant interview, thanks and to Noel for taking the time. When he was talking about being a teenager mad into The Jam and how important they were, it brought back similar memories from those times.
The guy that bought us teenagers, as I was back in the 1970's the song, we're going underground, yeah liked that, use to sing it on the school bus, upstairs on the back seat, listening on one of those little square radio's, that took a square 9v battery, to make the battery last longer at night I Use to take it out and put it on the radiator, that gave it extra life. That was absolutely brilliant. NG is always great in interviews but you get a really good picture of who - and what - Weller is as a musician and as a man listening to those stories. A hat tip to all involved. Great stuff.
Paul Weller legend , he plays piano on the Amorphous Androgynous "we Persuade" album...for which I painted the album cover,. It got a "Great sleeve. Love it!" from Weller himself!.
Really enjoyed that… such an open, honest and funny chat. I’m probably one of the only Weller fans who also like U2 so to hear the Bono stories made me die. Cheers Noel and Dan

Well someone’s got a story to tell there pals at work this week, of how they tripped a podcasts facts up, despite the fact it wasn’t a fact based documentary but one man’s ode to a man he dearly likes, respects and admires and what comes across is that a multimillionaire rock star is still basically just a fan of Paul wellers as much as anything, without blowing smoke up your bottom that’s what came across, great listen
Enjoyable interview. Noel talked about The Sex Pistols making their mark after 5 years. Were the pistols not only around from 75 to 78. Strange comment from a Pistols fan
after the split of the main members of the band in 1978- jones, cook and vicious continued to make Records and cook and jones were also involved with Malcolm McLaren with the making of the film The Great Rock n Roll Swindle. So it did span best part of five years- 75,76,77,78 and 79. band first got together in 1972! but first gig with recognised Pistols line-up was November 1975 after Rotten joined a few months before.
If it was the bit when we were talking about the song that Paul and Noel wrote together it was The Monkees. The 1960s pop rock band - Daydream Believer, Last Train to Clarksville etc
THEIR music was continuing to be released into 1979. iF YOU want to be pedantic-they actually formed in 1972-that was the first line-up with Wally Nightingale . He was 11 / 12 and it was over 45 years ago. I think we can forgive him on that one. I can’t remember if I first heard Weller on radio or TOTP. I say the latter but it was over 30 years ago so not 100%.
Noel is such a brilliant interviewee. So entertaining. You don’t really have to ask him anything, just let him go.
I could listen to noel all day long. A proper top bloke & a brilliant story teller. Thanks for a great interview PWFP.

Noel should do after dinner speaking if that's still a thing

What a joy your podcasts are. Every single person you have had on over the yeas, has been so down to earth, Noel just says it like it is, lovely guy.

Great work Dan. I’m listening for the second time! Thoroughly enjoyable.

Great interview! Could listen to Noel's stories forever. :)

I met Noel years ago and he is a top bloke. Great interview again ❤
Paul and Noel are both top performers and 2 people that i love so much they make me feel so good about life and music
Their controllers will be delighted to hear of that.

Love Noel, great artist and old school real human
Absolutely brilliant interview
That was fucking brilliant! you two really kicked it off. Well done.
Great interview! Hilarious! Two of the greatest songwriters ever for me. Perfect interviewer too!
YES!!!! Love the new episode Dan!
Please do an interview with the Steves Cradock and White!
Noel Gallagher motivates me, he simplifies things that appear difficult

Brilliant wow! Its like they're your pals. My mate Macc is a Noel soundalike but he was from York.
Great interview

Legend!
Is there a better interview than Noel Gallagher ?
Nope I could listen to him all day
Who mentions beer in a song apart from the Wurzels LOL. Weird that Noel loves the smiths and the jam but lyrically often feels a bit constricted
Weller was spot on about Be Here Now.
😂
@@PaulWellerFanPodcast Oh dear, you don't like that album do you??
COMFORTABLY NUMB? YOU HAVIN’ THAT?

The Eton Rifles 1978 really?? Think you'll find it came out in October 1979.
To be fair - he was on the spot - rather than able to sit the doing research as I was firing questions at him.
I think he meant 79 on so it goes?

Enjoyable interview. Noel talked about The Sex Pistols making their mark after 5 years. Were the pistols not only around from 75 to 78. Strange comment from a Pistols fan
It was him talking about bands who have a magic period over 5 years rather than making their mark after 5 years.

Where is this interview taking place? Is it in a warehouse, sounds a bit Echo ie.😊😊
His office.
Great work! Thanks for the interview with the one and only. Just one question. When he talk about The monkeys, who the fuck are the monkeys? Thanks!
If it was the bit when we were talking about the song that Paul and Noel wrote together it was The Monkees. The 1960s pop rock band - Daydream Believer, Last Train to Clarksville etc
God that’s makes me feel old when people don’t know who the Monkey’s are! 🤔😉😘
@@lyngreenleaf1948 no too young as I wish though... 42 and I know who the monkeys were but I didnt get the joke I guess 😄😄
He sounds like Digsy when he says "the first 750,000?"
I thought Noel moved to the countryside a few years ago? Did he move back to London when he split with Sara?
Yep moved out to Hampshire in 2019 according to an interview he did in Germany and back to Maida Vale 2023 / 2022
The Pistols did not last 6 years.
He didn’t say that they did !

22 Dreams? Good single LP. Overrated as a double. Maybe im alone in thinking this?
Yep. You’re alone. 😂
Fabulous album, probably his best solo work . So diverse.
@@tommccrisken5319 his first album, plus Stanley Road, Wild Wood and Heliocentric are all superior imo. Each to his own though eh? 👍
So weird hearing Weller saying he wasn't really into what he did from 90-2000?! It was on radio 1 interview, shocked me😅
And they didnt play it on whistle test it was a programme called something else and they did when youre young as well
