    By far the best interview I’ve heard with Paul Weller. So refreshing to hear some practical well thought out questions from someone who clearly knows what he’s talking about. Not the usual topics that must bore Paul shitless! Thank you very much and we’ll done

    Great interview @1:39:56 is part of what makes me a fan of his music. There are layers that you can listen to. Alot of artists don't put much thought into textures. Artists like Paul Weller always have great players who can add their own creativty to add a great bass hook or synth part that adds to the chords and melody of a great song. I put him right up there with other artists like Prince and Stevie Wonder for those reasons.

    Given that he fell out with Paolo Hewitt because he wrote a book about him, you might have expected him to rail against all the people who contributed towards the podcast - but he seems to have embraced this. Well done Dan.

    Paul Weller, still the mod father, no one cooler, been loving his music since the 70s , The Jam were the soundtrack of my teens, he is the gift that keeps on giving, I am an avid music lover and in my sixties so have been lucky enough to appreciate a lot of bands and artists over the years, I would find it difficult to pick a top ten of favourite songs but if I did, shout to the top is in there.

      I have to say, I partly disagree. My sister and I went and enjoyed the music very much. However, the foul language, repeated and often, was completely unnecessary. Given that they had highlighted the young boy on somebody's shoulders and told him the song they had completed was for him - so they knew there were children in the audience - constant swearing, including the 'c' word - was totally unnecessary. Many people sitting around us also said exactly the same thing. I also didn't appreciate the pro-Gaza rant. Some people might think that's petty, and somebody accused me of disagreeing with him. I pointed out that whether I agreed or not wasn't the point. Rather, it was that I had paid to hear the music not a political statement foisted on me.

    • @russellnewton6660
      @russellnewton6660 Місяць тому

      @@Havana-man I guess he’s using a platform, I’ve personally been threatening to be kicked off the platform because of my rants on Gaza. But yeah no need for the swearing , not to that extent.

    • @Havana-man
      @Havana-man Місяць тому +2

      @@russellnewton6660 I think the problem with a lot of situations nowadays - the US president, Gaza, trans, etc - is that debates are so polarised that no matter what point anyone of us makes, there's almost no room for debate, the "other side" simply says we're wrong. None of his histrionics on the night would make me enjoy his music any less, as I have been since the Jam days, but what we got was unrequired and not well received. Take care.

    Really loving this and would be great to see it released as a video (or whatever we have now!). PW just seems so normal/laid back and honest which is great to see. I have always thought he is honest and genuine but sometimes a bit awkward, early morning TV interviews and criticising other peoples music but hey ho, that was his passion for creative music and a bit of insecurity I think. Would love to meet the man, I think but in default continue to love his music, his ethics and work ethic. Looking forward to fat Pop Volume 2!

    Talking about 70's music,i'm two years older than paul,when i was thirteen i was buying james brown,at that time he used to bring out a new single every week,i lived in chelsea until 2006,the only record shop that sold that stuff was in kings road,i loved staple singers,bobby byrd and i loved motown,still do,i remembered when they came over and toured,like about ten acts,they loved it here because they could stay in hotels with white people,and how the crowds were white and black all together,that would not happen inn america,that was very sad.crazy that was still going over there in the 70's.
