Still the expert packer! I really enjoy the fact that you still get excited about your travel. That tells me you are truly doing what you love to do. That's the best kind of job to have!
You are the reason I finally gained the confidence to solo backpack Colombia this year. My first time in South America! I can’t wait to see your South America series for even more travel inspo 🧳✈️
i just got back from two months in Colombia as a solo female traveler. can confirm that you're going to LOVE it!! I had an incredible time and felt very safe :) have fun !!
I was watching your packing videos 3 years ago as I prepared to travel South America. Here I am now having lived in Bolivia for 1.5 years. I fell in love. Thank you for your helpful packing videos. I was incredibly prepared and used everything I traveled with. Enjoy the magic of Bolivia! She’s a hidden gem.
Okay but seeing the airport fit at the end is somehow so comforting to see. I don't know why but I get so self conscious when I think I look a bit odd wearing my mismatched clothes to travel. Remembering that sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to take everything you want with you is really helpful. I am in my early planning for a solo summer trip to Europe and I am hoping to do it all with just a backpack so I have been binge watching and rewatching all your videos. Thanks for always going so in depth with what you pack!
You are so sweet&fun!! I was so scared of Solo backpacking and now I’m leaving for Australia + Asia next week. You gave me courage to do it, thanks for you work 🥰
I can't remember if I ever watched a packing video for so long... But this one I loved it... Ur so honest, blunt and your excitement really makes me wonder when will it be my turn to travel like that... Great video... Loved it!
You know you’re obsessed with travel when you’re watching a packing video for South America, THREE days after coming home from a month long trip from Africa!!!!!! 🤣 ✈️ 🌍 on to the next adventure! 😎
I love how you are "only" taking 36 L. I've seen people take almost double that for the same amount of time (or even less). I think I could go with even a bit less, for example the tops. Since they have no sleeves, you could wear them several times before washing them. You can also wash them by hand and if it is hot around there, they'll probably be dry the next day. Of course the hiking equipment and the big fluffy towel take up a bit of space. Some of the toiletries you could maybe do without but it is of course a personal choice. Good video :) Hope you had a great time
So happy you took advantage of the coil. I’ve had the Mirena for nearly 6 years, it cured my PMDD and I don’t get my period. Practically zero side effects besides the pain when its put in place. I wish more people were aware of its wonderfulness lol!
I have the Fairview backpack (40L) which I've used for about 18 months now and absolutely love. Excited to see how this pack works for you - I'm getting old enough to consider a rolling version now to save the back! 🤪
I'm so happy to see that other people also go for the ridiculous but efficient airplane looks 😁😂 I often feel like such a dork but anything to travel carry-on only 😁 thank you for another great video with so many good tips!
I'm only a few minutes in but I'm glad I found this video... most 'carry on bag' videos cater to urban travelers and/or travelers who stick to warmer climates. I'm about to go on a massive trip that will traverse a variety of geographies and seasons, from the desert heat to the jungle heat to the European winter. Trying my best to figure out my pack!
This came at a the perfect time. Just doing the planning stage of my South America trip where we are doing the same route as you but in reverse. Already watched your Columbia videos so now can’t wait to watch these for advice !
UA-cam recommended me your video and it was a nice surprise to see a familiar face! I used to watch your videos years ago when I was into travel. I have the same backpack and I love it! I've used it for years on multiple long trips and even just for weekends or camping and it's still as new. The wheels are so strong I think I never used the straps but it's nice to know you can use them if you need them.
I’m going backpacking around Colombia in December so this is PERFECT timing. That rolling Osprey backpack looks awesome! They definitely need to pay you for advertising it because I think I might genuinely buy that. 😂 Anyhow, have fun & I look forward to watching your upcoming South American journey
AAAHHHH SO JEALOUS! Next year i want to travel south-America for an unlimited time, so I am really really looking forward to all of your videos 🙌🏼 Have fun 🤩
I'm a big fan of matador products. I don't back pack or anything but I do go on a lot of rad trips and I love the beach Towle and wash cloth that they make. The soap bar case and flat pak toiletry bottle are my favorites. I use all my matador stuff everyday bc its so awesome.
I work at an outdoor shop in Canada that sells Osprey and I have the Sojourn 45L that your talking about and it would’ve been perfect for you! The reason why you had so much trouble finding stuff is because Osprey is redoing designs that aren’t quite done yet so they have very little stock available for the public!! I’m patiently waiting for their new releases 😅 should be around Christmas!!
At last! A really great packing video for South America for someone with my needs - running, hiking and photography! Slight difference in that I'm 62 so I won't be taking so many shorts, bikinis and toiletries...and I really don't care what my trailrunning shoes look like 😂
I LOVED THIS VIDEO -- it was so beyond helpful, made me think about things i would not normally have thought of. i am going to revisit this when i am planning for my trip!!!

my favourite videos! love your packing videos, I'm currently gathering my last few bits before I fly to south east Asia at the end of November for 8 months! I hope solo come back soon, they are the best things I've bought, got the shorts, trousers, bath towel and bumbag!
8 months that’s amazing!! How much did you budget for this trip and is the itinerary fixed or flexible? Have a great time making some of the best decisions 🙌🏾
@@BANGTEEZ_IN_YOUR_AREA I’ve got about £10,000 saved but I’m hoping to spend far less than this but better to budget more than you think you’ll need! My itinerary is flexible, flying out with a one way flight! Thankyou so much 🤩
I’ve just ordered OSPREY Farpoint 70L ok not quite ready for minimal packing 😅 my 1st major travel I’ve waited to get to 34 👴🏻 to start going Thailand 20th December untill 24th January watched quite a few of your videos about life over there made me more excited
Have you ever thought about putting half your shorts with half your tops? So you only need to pull out one packing cube and you can pick your top AND shorts! and maybe one cube for casual fits and one cube for cute fits? Just an idea! Love your work
interested to hear if they do weigh your bag and how much you need to pay! I am looking at a 7KG limit which is a bit worrying especially considering any decent bag seems to be at least 1kg... i wouldnt mind paying a bit extra if thats allowed.
i discovered bungee cords a few years ago...so many uses ! my top hack for sure. holds doors and windows open, laundry line, hang your backapck, make a curtain in a dorm bed., 2-2 foot bungees have been so useful , highly recommend them .
You could call it a back case 😂 still so surprising how much stuff you pack in such a tiny bag!! Hopefully the shop will be up and running before my australia trip next year cause I need the shorts and bath towel 😂😂
Hi Christianne, since your backpack is quite full, I was wondering where you put the clothes you’re wearing on the plane (jeans/jumper/fleece/…) when you’re in a warmer environment?
I had one of these packs, called the Osprey Soujourn, I don't think they make it anymore. The issue is that due to the wheels and frame it feels really uncomfortable to wear it. So these types of packs are mainly meant for rolling and the occasional backpack use. My experience has been very different from yours, even in Europe i've felt that having a backpack is immensely more beneficial - your hands are totally free, you don't have to worry about dragging stuff and watching it when you use kiosks etc. and you can run up the stairs to catch a connecting train with ease. I absolutely detest rolling luggage for that reason. But to each their own :)
I've got an old Kelty carry-on backpack with wheels and a handle. It's called a Pangaea. It's built like a tank and unfortunately weighs 3 kg partly due to a beefy metal frame. I still love it. Have a great trip!
I have one just like this from 2008 and really like it! I’ve had it for 14 years but haven’t used it for a longer backpacking adventure. I must say it was nicer to have in the airport and then backpacking through Panama.
Nice bag, I’m thinking about getting myself a new one for Portugal. Thank you for the link and ideas. 👍 Travel safe, and take lots of photos for yourself. 🤙
Always love your packing videos!! Felt like your bumbag went on forever with everything in it hahah!! But looking forward to seeing how the new GoPro works out for you!
I am going on my first long trip and this had been so EYE OPENING and insightful! thank you so much for sharing., I also wondered what was the weight of the backpack with everything packed in it? thank you!
Came back yesterday from Mexico and in London had to reduce my liquids, although everything was under 100ml - my boyfriend in another lane did not have to remove anything. That pains me if I think how many goods are just thrown away. Very environmentally friendly.
Iove my rolling backpack, alittle extra weight but so great for me and my 2 girls to go hand luggage only, mine is clam style and the girls like half claim they are amazing!
Yey another awesome packing video! I have the Osprey Farpoint backpack and I had no idea they had one with wheels haha. I really like those orange trousers!
The first video I watched of yours was puerto escondido. I was heading there in February for a couple weeks. Since seeing your vlogs I was stewing for a bit on the thought of solo traveling. Needless to say, I leave for central america in a week. I'm gone for three months! Thanks for the confidence boost aha.
So there are also hiking sock liners which are really small and basically another layer to make the big thick socks last longer :) sometime to look into for the future!
Hey Christian, so nice to see how you are able to pack so much in such little baggs. I need to improve my packing style ahha. I am currently traveling the same route. Just did 1 month of Bolivia and heading to Peru. So if you need any recomendations let me know!
I travel with a 40L fairview and it’s BOMB, you’ll love this pack. but also i’m jealous of your eagle creek clam shell pack because it looks so much roomier.
So happy for this trip! Still looking forward to watching you travel through Argentina someday! I'm going to Europe for the first time in December and I thought of buying a backpack with wheels but the weight makes me indecisive. Besides, in one of my flights I've got a max of 12kg for the carry on AND the personal item together so I'm terrified haha
I got some pretty good packing tips from this video, thank you! I am juste confused about why you wore jeans for your travel. I feel like jeans are the last thing I would want to bring with me on a backpacking trip since they are not particularly comfy and not convenient for hiking or any kind of adventures.
I don’t normally but they were my fave item on this trip! I wore them pretty much everyday that I wasn’t hiking and made me feel much more like a local rather than a tourist!
great packing video, i love that you showed everything but omggg i cannot believe how much you're taking lol gave me anxiety thinking about so many things to take care of/ put away! and the ipad pro and laptop must be so heavy!! regarding the underwear and PJs i've ditched putting them in cubes and use drawstring bags they take up wayyyyyy less room and weight. have a fun trip
Merena IUD is sooo much better than copper. Reduces bleeding, less risk of puncture. Copper increases bleeding and pain and is longer and more uncomfortable when inserting. My roommate got that one and her body rejected it! I have the Merena and the level or hormones that's constant is much lower than what you would get taking the pill. My dr did not recommend getting the copper, but I always rave about it to my friends! No more periods! and nooo babies lol
I’ve been thinking about buying the plastic birkenstock to replace my normal ones for travelling. Would you recommend them? I’ve read that they are not meant for walking all day with them. How was your experience with them?
I don't think you need wheels for such a small capacity backpack. But that's only my opinion after 4 months in SE Asia with a checked backpack, that weighted much more than a carry-on is admitted to. Sometimes it would had been lovely to have the option for wheels, indeed.
I'm heading to Vietnam and Cambodia in March, I'm quite small and have back issues so have been wondering how I'll manage with everything in a backpack but this may actually be the ideal solution.
So excited for another packing video! They’re my favorite!!! Please in your time in South America never fly Viva Air, it’ll save you so much stress, anger and money if you avoid them at all costs, I learned that the hard way this summer.
Just saw this and I was like I have to tell you when you get to Australia to see family, check out the High Sierra brand. It’s an Aussie company, amazing backpack/roller case. I love mine super robust and durable, the backpack straps pack away into a zipped area when not in use, there is a seperate area for shoes and it opens up like a suitcase like your previous bag. I swear by these bags they are the best. I used mine in South America travelling through Patagonia, Chile, Argentina lots of hiking and it was so good 😊 they usually have them on sale too…. Maybe your sister could pick once up on Black Friday for and early Chrissy pressie hehe
So exciting! When are you loosely planning to go to Thailand maybe? I’m going halfway through January until the beginning of march! Second time in a year haha 🌞
I feel you on the eye mask. I had the same one after you recommended it and then I lost it in Lisbon earlier this year. I got a new one but it’s not the same. 🙁 have the most wonderful trip!!!
i just picked up a solid facial cleanser, a solid face serum, and solid body lotion from Lush! I'm going to cut them into smaller chunks along with my solid shampoo, conditioner, and soap! I also use solid, package-less deodorant, toothpaste tablets, and sunscreen! It's great because I know I'll have more than enough liquid allowance for moisturizer and hair oils!
Still the expert packer! I really enjoy the fact that you still get excited about your travel. That tells me you are truly doing what you love to do. That's the best kind of job to have!

I also love your videos and how you talk us through everything. Super helpful!
Can you give review about your backpack? Would you recommend it for long hauls? Thanks
I just use produce bags instead of packing cubes. They can be reused too.
If you have time you should check out Argentina! Especially Mendoza.
Deffo the wrong direction for this trip, but of course that would be awesome for another trip 😊
Love these videos. Curious if they let you have this many plastic bags with liquids, I always thought liquids have to fit in no more than one bag
I put all the liquids into one bag to go through security. I just have lots of little bags for my own convenience
great packing video, i love that you showed everything but omggg i cannot believe how much you're taking lol gave me anxiety thinking about so many things to take care of/ put away! and the ipad pro and laptop must be so heavy!! regarding the underwear and PJs i've ditched putting them in cubes and use drawstring bags they take up wayyyyyy less room and weight. have a fun trip
But it’s all in carry-on, this is minimal for me 🥲🥲🥲
Merena IUD is sooo much better than copper. No more periods! and nooo babies lol
i used the same backpack for 3 months in India and SEA. the handle and the strap got lacerated because of how the buses handle it
I’ve been thinking about buying the plastic birkenstock to replace my normal ones for travelling. Would you recommend them? I’ve read that they are not meant for walking all day with them. How was your experience with them?
Good luck with trip. Hope you have a great time ❤
Thanks so much ☺️
I don't think you need wheels for such a small capacity backpack.
Backpacking queen... 👸 👑
So excited for another packing video! They’re my favorite!!! Please in your time in South America never fly Viva Air, it’ll save you so much stress, anger and money if you avoid them at all costs, I learned that the hard way this summer.
Hahaha okay thanks for the note!
How are you liking the rolling backpack?
Enjoying your videos.
Oh man snap! 😭 I wonder why they discontinued it
@@BackpackingBananas I know 😭
so exiting! I'll definetely be following your trip on youtube :) soooo cool
I’m planning my trip to central/south america rn. Would you recommend hiking boots/low hiking shoes or just sneakers ?
Maybe I missed this, but what about hiking boots? Did you bring any? Did they fit in the bag?
You covered this a second after I posted the comment 😂
i just picked up a solid facial cleanser, a solid face serum, and solid body lotion from Lush! I'm going to cut them into smaller chunks along with my solid shampoo, conditioner, and soap! I also use solid, package-less deodorant, toothpaste tablets, and sunscreen! It's great because I know I'll have more than enough liquid allowance for moisturizer and hair oils!
You can Buy a sleeping bags on a big supermarket (wong, tottus, plaza vea) in Lima
