Hey, just wanted to leave a comment in gratitude - I've skimmed a lot of your videos because I've been doing research on SA travel. You guys have an itinerary really similar to one I'm planning so your guys' videos made it really easy for me to plan my travels. You deserve more subscribers! Thanks :)
Thx for the informative vid. Really great way to lay it out (tips / list / countries). It seemed a bit cheaper than I was expecting. Thx again - will seek out your other vids.
Great break down! Loved the money saving tips. I want to go solo and I am planning to spend $10,000.00 and this video gives me tips on how to save to do more tours, excursions and travel better knowing that you spent that on 2 people. Thanks, so much for the video. If you guys want to go back and meet up that would be awesome, I am going to try and arrange friends to meet me along the way.
Thank you so much for the detailed breakdown. I appreciate you taking the time. Considering how much people from 1st world countries earn and spend on a monthly basis, the total amount seems like a no brainer. Especially because you're getting so much life and experience out of it. Still though, it helps to save money wherever possible. I now feel more confident for a trip I'm planning maybe early next year. Sending love from Vancouver, Canada.
Planning on spending about 5 months in SA next year around September and this was super helpful! I do want to include Peru in my itinerary! I was born and raised in Brazil and have been in the US for almost 19 years, so I'll be visiting my family for a week or two. Ready to finally become a nomad!
This is such a great video! My partner and I will be doing a very similar trip late next year. I was wondering how much planning and pre booking of accommodation/ travel you guys did before going? We kind of like the idea of having a rough plan for maybe a week at a time, and then figuring the rest out as we go. So hearing how other people plan their trip is always super helpful.
Thanks a lot for your comment, great to hear it’s helpful! ☺️ That’s exactly what we did… We generally booked our accommodation on Air B&B around a week before we would arrive. Of course we had a general idea of what we wanted to do a few weeks in advance, but in terms of actually booking somewhere it was usually around one week 😊 The one thing we heard of that apparently you need to book well in advance is if you want to do the W or O treks in Torres Del Paine as the camps sites can be booked out - we didn’t do those but that’s what we heard through the grapevine! If you have any other questions feel free to ask 😊
@@SomethingToRemember Yeah that’s awesome, as we’ll be working with a fairly similar budget/ time frame that you guys based your travel on. One other question I had was based on travel between countries, did you opt for bus over flight travel in South America when moving from country to country? Thanks heaps 🥳
@jackwachter8973 We took as many buses as we could as flights within the continent can still be pretty pricy… But you may have to take the odd flight here and there to save time. For example, we flew fro Buenos Aires to Ushuaia and then from Punto Arenas to Santiago because bussing all the way down to Patagonia & back up would take ages! 😅
Great video. Really enjoy your videos always informative and and interesting. You both look so happy and enjoy what you have been doing. I was amazed at how your total came to considering what yous did during your time in South America. 😎👍
Never knew these types of videos existed. Planning on travelling all over south America when I'm 18 and have a gap year and wondered what your experience was (if any) of travelling solo, and also of meeting people while travelling. Also, how's it like travelling without Spanish ❤
Hi! That’s great, sounds like an amazing thing to do with your gap year 😊 We met LOTS of solo travellers all over South America. Most were staying in dorm rooms in budget hostels, which is a great way to make new friends! Enjoy 🔥🌎
Central America for the first time coming up. I’ve been to Europe and Asia for year plus trips. Learning some Spanish and going here wasn’t originally planned but due to time of year and cost of Air Bnb I will go there instead of Belize 🇧🇿
Thanks for this video! Very useful informations. I have little more then 4 months for trip, can you please tell me which country you visited and how long you stay in each country?
Hi, thanks! We visited the countries we mentioned in this video😊 we created various videos about them and they are all in this playlist⬇️ ua-cam.com/play/PLHoehaQ4xCnhcJNbYbbgZQqm4wq2C_hCK.html&si=saQ874O1oq25t9Mp We stayed in each country from 2 weeks to a month, you can definitely visited them all in 4 months😊
Love the video I was wondering if you have tips or recommendations on the best way to track your spending while on your trip. Specifically when using a combination of cash and cards? Thanks again for the info
Thank you so much for giving an idea of the costs there! We will buy a van in Chile😬 as that seems to be the only country where a tourist can buy a car/van. That will be expensive but we expect to sell it for a good price too. So we could save on going out for lunch/diner. Save on flights and trips. Save out on hotels/air b&b's/hostels. Wonder what the gas (benzine/diesel) prices are? Thanks a lot for the tips about money... cash/cards...! Bringing back the 5704 to the costs a month: is 1140 is 285 a week is 40 a day... We have been traveling through southern europe for the last 3 years... unpossible to live for that money in our camper/ car+rooftent due to the prices of gas... and food! Not even taking the costs of camping/camperplaces in this story!
Glad it was useful! Make sure it’s possible, we’ve heard that it’s hard to get motorbikes across the border without residency. Double check everything 😊 Besides, we don’t think it will be cheaper as the continent is massive. You can google up to date petrol prices😊
New to your channel and loving it! You seem to value many of the same things as my wife and I. We’re eyeing S.A. in early 2024. What months were yo there and what order did you go in? Give us a shout if you fancy an adventure to Mauritius before the end of the year 🏝
Aw thanks a lot❤️ We started in Rio in November, headed south towards Patagonia and ended up in Colombia in April and went into Central America afterwards, we posted all our videos in order 😊 Thanks! Enjoy your travels ☺️
How would you recommend travelling around Patagonia what is the easiest way! How much do you think you’d end up spending there for a 2-3 week trip? Love the video by the way very helpful insight!!

hi guys, great video. did ye book accommodation far in advance or just a few days ahead of time? Finding alot of hostels kinda expensive when go for private room. Thinking maybe mix of hostels and airbnbs
Great informative video thx for putting the time in on this. I was wondering how the cost of the countries you visited might impact the sequence of countries to visit if you were to plan this trip again. For example is it better to land in a really cheap country like Bolivia or Ecuador first? Also you may not know this but does taking Gold (coin or bar) and changing it for cash work?
Hi, thanks so much, we ara so glad to hear it☺️ If you fly to Ecuador or Bolivia, your route will probably require a flight which will be more expensive😊 we really don’t know about gold but doubt it will be easy to “exchange”😊
Question for you guys, I just recently bought a converted van and want to drive it to cali and ship my car to peru and do a huge circle around the continent for hopefully a year(seeing if I'd want to move out of the US). im budgeting 10-15k(10k for the trip and then the rest for shipping (probably do the trip in a year cause I'm spending a bit of money rn to try and have a online store so I can have money coming in)). With the context are there any places where I could park for the night? Would I need to get insurance? How good/trustworthy are the mechanics there? Should I reach out to travel guides or just kind of wing it (like I'm planning)? Where are some nice hidden scenic places? What language is more important Spanish or Portuguese?(I think Portuguese since most of my trip would be in Brazil) Are there laundromats in South America? What places would you avoid/Where would you go to spend your days? Thanks for your input!
This is very, very good. I'm planning to go away for a around a year starting Jan '24. Idea is to start from Ushuaia to Alaska. I also want to do central America as well. I have a question regarding the medical travel insurance - how did it work for you guys? Also, is jt true that during immigration they ask you to have a confirmed exit ticket out of the country? Thanks a lot. I'm going through all your videos. :D
Hi! Sounds like a great plan☺️ We both had worldwide travel insurance (Mark got his insurance with his Revolut Premium account & Asya’s was with Genki), but luckily we didn’t have to use it! Surprisingly, weren’t asked for proof of a ticket out of any country we visited! Central America was a big surprise for us, there are some unreal places! Enjoy your travels & thanks for watching our videos ✈️💚
@@SomethingToRemember - Thanks for the feedback. It's good to know these small things which can sometimes have big impacts on your experience. I have a Revolut account too, I'll look into it. Not sure if there's already a video, but how's the experience with Revolut? I used it a lot during my travels to Mexico, but I had a bad experience with double charging all the time and it was very frustrating... But that was 3 years ago, so hopefully it's all good now. Would appreciate to hear your thoughts. 😌
We quite like using it. As I said we haven’t had to claim off the insurance yet (touch wood) but we didn’t have any problems when travelling. The premium card also allows you up to €400 per month in free ATM withdrawals so we found that quite handy 😊
Hello travelers! First off thanks for the helpful videos! We'll be traveling through Argentina in a few weeks and your videos are the first I've heard mention of the Western Union/blue dollar rate. Honestly I'm a bit confused as to how it works. With the Argentine Peso so unstable, I had been told to carry US dollars because they hold their value whereas the peso can fluctuate a lot day to day. Is there a benefit to paying in cash with pesos rather than US dollars? Are dollars not as widely accepted?
Thank you! Glad you found it useful! The only place we saw signs saying "we accept dollars" was in tourist hotspots like El Chalten in Patagonia, and even then they would give you your change back in Argentinian Pesos. Their currency is very much Argentinian Pesos, not dollar or euro... We spent about 5 weeks in Argentina, the rates were up and down a little bit but not enough to really notice. Bottom line is that you definitely need to use Argentinian Peso cash and the best way to access it is by using WU😊
Wow this is very useful, thank you for sharing this info!✨✈ I will start an itinerary in 10 days, starting from Peru and will pass from Argentina too. I have a question, because I don't know anything about Western Union. Do you need to have made an account, a card or something else before visiting Argentina in order to use the blue dollar rate that you mention?Or you just enter directly a western union office once you are there and use your bank card directly somehow through their service? Thanx in advance!
when you talk about getting the blue dollar rate from western union, how does it work? Would I need to open an account with them, or can i just use my english bank card to exchange money?
In Argentina, how did you pay for an Airbnb in the blue dollar rate? Did you pay for it in cash or is there a way to pay in the blue dollar rate in credit card? Because most of the times you have to book hotels and Airbnbs online in advance.
American here. I’m planning a 10k South America trip, alone. I am glad to know that I could possibly spend much less. 😊 thanks so much. Great vid.

Maybe your bank was charging you and not Davivienda😊
I save cash on booze by taking an iv bag full of ethanol everywhere I go
Cool
when you talk about getting the blue dollar rate from western union, how does it work? Would I need to open an account with them, or can i just use my english bank card to exchange money?
You can send it online using Western Union website, it’s very easy
So.. about 1500 euro buys you relatively comfortable journey (for a couple)... that is far less then expected...
Absolutely! Comfort doesn't always break the bank😊
Not impressed by food, wow! I love south american food, its nice to hear different opinions
In Argentina is it necessary to transfer money via western union or it is possible to bring cash and exchange there?
We only transferred it and then collected it at WU, so we are not sure about exchanging cash.
What if you just brought USD with you and used that or exchanged in each country?
You can’t use it as most of the countries have their own currencies and the exchange rate usually isn’t great.
Did you guys ever get robbed at all?
We didn’t have a single negative experience throughout our whole trip. We were very vigilant and careful with our belongings 😊
