I reviewed a bunch of yaks. My pick was the Kaku Zulu!!!!! It should be on this list. $2100 with paddle drive. Length 12.7’, Width 35”, Hull Weight 85lbs, capacity 500lbs
I just picked up a Lightning Kayak Nomad I paid $1300 new for the price it can’t be beat. The original MSRP I believe is $2200 is a good kayak I stand and fish all day and is fast. You guys should check it out. Thanks for the video!
Some interesting Kayaks. I have the Old Town 106 and I love it. Probably a little small for saltwater (the 120 Salty would be better for that but it breaks the 2500 barrier) I weight 240 lb and am 6 ' 3"" The 106 fits me perfectly with added gear. That new roto-mold Hobie does look nice (I liked the reinforced scupper holes for a cart) . From experience, absolutely do not buy a PDL without a break way system . The Old Town has it and it works. Don't ask me how I know. Even with the breakaway hitting submerged log is a hard hit. Don't have to worry about that with the finn drives. Although the PDL 106 paddles fine with the drive ups there are a couple of lakes I fish with large amounts of standing timber (they didn't finish logging the reservoir before they flooded it. They cut the trees in the rest of during the winter ice-in at the ice level. . So it's an underwater forest now). Navarre Fishing out of Florida makes a plug which fits the hole and keeps the yak drier particularly in choppy water. PS. I like your straightforward enthusiastic presentations.
Wanted to give a big shoutout and say thanks for the suggestion of the vanhunks kayak. I bought one and I absolutely love it. I’m a bigger guy and it holds my weight just right.
I'm brand new to fishing kayaks and I just bought the Hobie Passport this year on a recommendation from a friend who's more experienced. Just out of curiosity, you said you were surprised to have a Hobie in this countdown...why is that? Is it because of the price point or some other reason where they don't measure up to other name brands? I ask because I'm considering a second kayak to leave at my summer camp, which is hours away, while I use the one I have now for fishing local waterways. I was going to get another Passport, but if there's another brand I should absolutely be looking at instead in that price range, I'd be open to trying it. I don't really have anything to compare the Passport to as far as personal use, but I'm happy with it so far. It's stable, comfortable, and the drive system's awesome...I was surprised at how effective it is...the only limitation with getting around has been my lack of fitness!
“Zero points for speed…” 😂👍 I was laughing harder than I should have at that. And it’s true because I used to go faster than Lucas arm paddling when he had that. Great video, Jay. Some very good options.
Which one is best for fishing on the open ocean and exposed bays? I guess I am asking which has the best combination of balance and speed? I did not enjoy paddling for 45 minutes straight against the outgoing tide and almost getting sent out to the Channel Islands🤣
I really question the Vanhunks capacity. That’s an awfully light kayak to be boasting that kind of weight rating. My favorite on this list is the Big Fish 108. An absolute unit of a kayak. Nice breakdown my guy!🤘🏼 thanks for the shoutout 🎉
I hear that brother! And I thought the same thing initially but I’ve heard so many positives that I’m really thinking it might be true. I’m hoping to get on one soon. Thanks for watching my guy!
Yeah I may have to put it to the test I have an elite pro angler and absolutely love it. I'm 200 lb and I had 70 lb worth of gear last weekend doing a 20-mile Brazos River camping trip and the hull floated it perfectly didn't even feel the weight. The vanhunks elite pro angler is a great kayak, and I'm coming from a feel free Dorado. It's fast stable and has a great turning radius
A lot of people are complaining that it doesnt get there or having problem with shipping. when u complain and want to review to let people know about the experience they don't post bad reviews. So people have to 5 star and post the real review. I want to get an old town but too much money for me to get scammed
I’m saving to buy the Zulu model. After watching the UA-cam vids and some testimonials from big guys I’m pretty much convinced. Hybrid SUP/Kayak, love it.
Just wait my brother. I just bought a yak today gotta go finish paying and load er up first but ill post pics. Pedal power added. 11' 6" 425 lb cap. Stsnd up n fish. Added a lean on bar for comfort while standing. Big fat keel wheel. Electronics pod. De-luxe seat. So much more. Boat with added stand up bar $999. Add pedal drive( pdl style drive) $1000. . they are going to give me a little bit more if a break after negotiating some in am. I went for the yak and couldn't pass up ordering the compatible drive kit which comes with a rudder system and steering system all for the price of $1k........ Way less than $2500 and will be a Complete outfit once i add my electronics.......... Bad Assery let me tell you And show you..... Real soon. Busy busy.. Fishing a Musky tournament for my Maiden competition outing on this boat. In Tomahawk Wisconsin on Saturday........... Tigh tight lines baby. Wish.me the ability to turn my Skills into dollar bills! 💵 💵
Great info n dad joke …..you missed another great kayak…..HooDoo Kayak. I have Impulse 120 Fin Drive . Awesome kayak n amazing customer/ warranty support.
I've been considering the Impulse 120pdl and it's nice to hear that you like it. That is at the top of my list because that price range is about what I can afford without selling my Jon boat. Somewhat limited in selection because I'm on the large side so the Impulse ticks off both issues.
How is the drive on that? I heard the screws need tightened. I was gonna buy one regardless till the ole lady said not(was gonna finance it $ & we are hoping to buy a house next year)

Awesome price. I’ve seen the Nomads and they look like exceptional kayaks. Congrats!

@@Joshf11221983 sweet! I love fishing the local tournaments. Always a good time.
The rapid pedal drive from feelfree also floats
How about the Old Town Salty. Same price as the 106

Lightening Nomad … made in the USA . Me personally , I try to go that route
I’ve heard good things about the nomads.

Thanks Bryan! Yeah Lucas told me it moves like a slug 😂 but those things are tanks in the water.
@@BeardedDadFishing What do you think of the Hammerhead kayaks ? Any information on them ?
Beside being good kayaks which one actually has a great customer service that actually helps
Got a suggestion for you (dad) lol how about giving us a good list of good safe fishing kayak for children that want to get in to the sport with us
Great idea! Will look to see what I can find on smaller kayaks for the kiddos
man i wish i can afford a peddle kayak at some point but for now its good old bass pro shop ascend kayak for me
Nothing wrong with that brother! All in due time.
Fantastic video brother. Curious though, no Shearwater or Makana?
Both solid options also. Love Vibe. Gotta make another round for the other options out there.

I don’t do open water honestly but I know plenty of guys do take their Nucanoe and old town 120s
Enjoy kayak and Brooklyn kayak have pedal drives under 2 k. There are others too.

Is there difference using fishing kayaks for photo and video shoots? Is there any kayaks made specially for photo and videographers?
Not much. Lots of folks use fishing yaks for photography. They are so stable and storage is great.
Have you Ever looked at the Kaku kayaks?
I have not. I’ll have to look into them.

Thank you sir!
No problem, have a wonderful day!!
Just curious where the Feelfree Lure 11.5 v2 w/ Overdrive would fit in?
Feelfree makes some great yaks. I’d definitely say they’re worth a look!
How many have horizontal rod storage
Only the ones I mentioned. It’s a big selling point.
You had me at “Meat Patty.” Lol
As the new yaks comes out the old ones could be on 🔥 sale. Lol!!
Exactly! Keep an eye out 👀
Really solid video. Great range of prices, features and companies. Great work as always! Liked the knowledge on the R plastic difference.
Appreciate that RV!
Definitely options for everyone. Might do one under $1,500 🤔
Whats the mount that the guy has on his pro angler 13 at 4:49?
Looks like it’s the mariners sails mount - www.mariner-sails.com/pro-angler-single-motor-micro-anchor-mount.html

how do you make a 5 kayaks under 2500 without including the moken 10 pdl which is only 1299.99......
Lots of kayaks had to be left out unfortunately. Will be revisiting in the future.

@@BeardedDadFishing speak the truth. I’m considering the Lure 13.5 v2 with overdrive. There $1,799 right now brand new with free shipping

Definitely lots of options out there 👍🏽
You cannot upgrade the Hobie to the 360 drive. 180 yes. 360 absolutely not.
