    The S&W 686 SSR 4in 6 shot in .357 mag/.38spl is my EDC.
I suffered a left wrist injury about 10 years ago. After 6 surgeries 12 pins, 2 titanium rods and lots of PT my wrist is usable and I have full range of motion. But...... Racking the slide of a semi-auto is painful.
I found using a revolver to be much friendlier to my wrist. I can shoot even .357 magnum with my left hand, but the .38 SPL is much more forgiving and I can put more rounds down range with my off hand.
Been carrying this particular firearm for the last 6 years and I have never looked back.
The trigger is amazing, the lock up is solid. The full length ejection rod clears the spend cases with ease, and I love the ability to choose to stage the hammer in single action for precision shots.
I care this in a custom kydex appendix holster, with 1 safariland comp 1 speed loader and 1 speed strip.

Great selection! Too many people discount revolvers for carry. I think they area great option.

My 686 SSR in 4-inch is a favorite. Another superior S&W weapon.

I wish they made this and the 8 shooters without the lock! I know you can disable it but it just looks unsightly. Merry Christmas!

The one gun I regret selling is my 4" 686P. Maybe later I'll pick up another one :)

Another great video! Could you please tell me what camera you have on the head mount? I love the quality of video you get from it.

i've got a 686 with an 8-3/8" barrel, would probably blow that away, but not a CC revolver. Merry Christmas!

why no moon clip capacity in a SSR? doesn't make sense

DAT TAPE SSR division of IDPA specifically prohibits cylinders modified for moon clips. Originally, IDPA had only one revolver class. So moon clip guns were going against speed loader guns - and w inning everything. IDPA made a separate class (Stock Service Revolver - SSR) just to address this. I like it because I can use my Smith K frames and be competitive. And I don’t ruin my K frame by modifying the cylinder.

Mine looked absolutely awesome!, had a fantastic trigger pull that sold me on it despite being bit overpriced at the shop. First range trip 50% failure to fire (yes the mainspring screw was fully tightened), I know my way around a S/W revolvers and can do basic trigger job, but as I paid so much for it and that Performance Center Trigger, I just sent it back for the pros to deal with. Came back 100% reliable with the crappiest 12+# double action pull you ever felt. Sold it at big loss and moved on :(

+James SoutheastMO That is absolutely pathetic. I think Smith is riding on name recognition and the ASSUMPTION of quality from their consumers. I had to sort through 3 different brand new 686's just to find one with a barrel that wasn't overtightened to the point of having visibly crooked front sights. I bought one, but the rear sight has to be ALL the way over to the right for the point of impact to match the sight picture. And I know how to shoot a revolver. It's sad to see such poor quality control.

+Big Earl I actually did but a 5" GP 100 later. Sent it off to impact guns who did a beautiful trigger job on it. I know they put some good stuff out, but that just burned me so bad still ticked about it years later.

+James SoutheastMO I have and have had many Ruger revolvers, and never had a problem not one. I can not say that about S&W. I will never buy a S&W again. They look great but that is about all they have going for them this day and time, what a shame. Earl

+James SoutheastMO That does suck. Not to try to sway you back to S&W but my recent dealings with their revolvers has been excellent. I bought a Model 60-15 Pro and a lil 442 and we have shot quite a few rounds downrange with them in the last couple of months, been sweet. The 60 has handled defensive .357 rounds with no problem and both are more accurate than my friends from the local gun shop and myself.
I've always had Ruger revolvers which worked well too, SP 101 and Vaquero set up for SASS with a Long Hunter trigger job and Montado hammer.
