What a fantastic specimen and a full stomach to boot. How are the hives going we haven't seen a inspection for a while. Is your long lang still in use?

Yes, she is a stunner and digesting about a possum sized meal.
The hives are going great. I had to split the LongLang for swarm management a few weeks ago and both are rocketing along. Added supers to some of the hives. There's a good flow on with Angophora in flower. So far, no mites in my washes.

@@AussieMikesBees What is the current wholesale price for honey near you and are they still buying? Our only buyer dropped it to $3.50Kg and then has stopped buying altogether.

That sounds about the same here. They're really screwing the beekeepers and are happy to buy imported rubbish at stupid low rates. I'm strictly low volume and sell directly to the public and some specialty food outlets. I don't sell for less than $14/500g jar. People recognise the value of real honey, once they've had it. If they don't it would be wasted on them, so they can stick to the supermarket junk.

Why don't you let her back in? We had one for a while and the mice numbers dropped dramatically.

She and her mate lived in the roof cavity above the kitchen in the old house. When I rebuilt, I made it energy efficient. There are no gaps or opeings for her to get to any ceiling or wall cavity. The other advantage of having the place well sealed against drafts and energy loss is that the mice can't get in either. I'm afraid she will have to settle with living in the bush.
