    In this video I am going to review EVERY SINGLE ONE of the stock loadouts of each class and give a score to them. After all, stock weapons are very important as they are the ones that will be on new players' hands. Good stock weapons can give a good first impression of a class to a new player and vice versa. I hope you can enjoy this video!

    In my opinion, demoman has the best stock Loadout. The bottle is somewhat better than other stock melees, like the shovel or bat. And the grenade launcher and stickybomb launcher are freaking nice.

      Tbf Its more of Demoman another melees being bad than bottle being good. Half-Zatoichi and Scotsman Skullcutter suffer from longer deploy time and being very risky for massive reward. Pain train is direct downgrade on maps without control points thought 10% bullet vulnerability is not as bad as people think it is. Caber sucks while rest of the weapons are pure Demoknight weapons. leaving Bottle as only reliable melee option for demoman that don't have any risk of using it attached.

He talks about the iron bomber projectile size making any impact whatsoever on gameplay, a common thing awful players say which is a dead giveaway that they have no idea why its even used in the first place. And the difference between stock and iron bombers projectile arc.. which is exactly the same. Not to mention the terrible background footage. Why did they even make this video

    Engineer has a really good stock loadout, I don't even know how you reached that conclusion. The shotgun you've forsaken even though in quite a few instances the enemy will be JUST outside of your range with the panic attack that you could have finished with the shotgun. The pistol with its high reserve ammo and pretty fast fire rate allows you to pepper people who are in spots that your sentry cant reach. The stock wrench is really solid in its own right, even though the Jag is pretty much a direct upgrade from it. It is consistant, and there is nothing really to complain about it.

      You can also point out that 70% of the time, random bullet spread does not have a significant affect on your damage with 15% giving a significant boost to your damage.
      And I guess you can point out that the melee unlocks fill a niche while the stock is a jack of all stats.
      And I guess another thing with the shotgun and the pistol, sometimes you don't have your sentry gun up. In those situations, a shotgun backed up by the pistol can really save your ass. Now the panic attack is good when you are in a panic and need to attack, but it's increased pellet count is only effective at breath smelling distance. Also, the wrangler doesn't do much to save you if you don't have a sentry up or if there is an obstruction between your aggressor and your gun. Having a pistol in those situations can make or break a fight.

      You are not wrong but you aren't right either. Every melee weapon that isn't a spy knife or a bearer of the "no random crits" stat has the same busted ass high crit chance. Stock just happens to lack the damage penalty of the jag and the construction hit boost reduction and reduced metal pickup of the eurica effect.
      You get the same 15 to 60% crit chance between the three wrenches, stock just doesn't give you any red text to worry about.

    Honestly I gotta disagree with the flamethrower. The degreaser has nice speed, but the penalties of bad afterburn and less airblasting are a huge turn off for me. I usually combine chip damage from afterburn and medium range panic attack shots to finish off enemies when they run. And I also love to airblast often.

  • @lenntf
    @lenntf Рік тому +134

    i think you're sleeping on the stock shotgun. the bullet spread might screw you out of some kills but it also gives you more kills because of how the spread works too. consistently firing with the panic attack makes it weaker and weaker after each shot at a medium range, and at medium range you're gonna need a couple of shots to kill most of the classes. maybe if your point blank the panic attack is better but otherwise the shotgun will always be king.
    as for rating the engie as the worst loadout, id disagree. stock shotgun is a fantastic weapon for engineer as the widowmaker and frontier justice wont ALWAYS be the best gun for them in every situation and stock will be good no matter what. as far as the rescue ranger its neither better nor worse than stock, just different. the pistol is pretty bad for engineer, considering the wrangler exists. and stock wrench realistically isnt that big of a deal to think its as terrible as it is. is it as good? no. but is it awful? no.
    im surprised you rated soldier as high as you did, considering that the shotgun over banner or gunboats is something thats a pretty hefty trade off. yeah it does more damage, but its nowhere near as good as the banners nor the boats. if you play a grounded soldier just shooting at things in front of you, why would you not just play scout or demo? the reason you play soldier is for his crazy mobility and the utility of his banners. soldier is a jack of all trades master of none, and treating him like a demo, heavy, or scout is not the an efficient way to play the class at all. as far as his melee you were pretty right about how awful it is. escape plan and whip are a lot better. surprised that you didnt mention the spoon either. its not just a meme it comes in clutch pretty often if you're proficient in rocket jumping. in all honesty i would switch the rating with engie and soldier if it were up to me.
    also the stock revolver is the best revolver in every situation. the only other revolver you would ever equip is the letrange in more open maps where ammo packs are scarce. amby cant hold a torch to stock fighting against any class.
    i also think you're sleeping on the crossbow. the crossbow damn near breaks tf2 with the amount of healing it puts out allowing you to keep a player alive far longer than you would with just beaming them. the syringe guns dont hold a candle to the crossbow and im suprised you rated medic so high because of that.
    but opinions r opinions. nice video :D

    Engineer's loadout is also really good. If you want any reasoning, go watch Uncle Dane's Stock Engineer series.

  • @bluarrow4505
    @bluarrow4505 Рік тому +3

    As someone with a good amount of comp exp, Demo, Sniper and Spy all have 10/10 stock loadouts.
    In Demo’s case, now that stock and ib both have the same projectile size, they’re both equal in usage and the bottle is easily his best melee simply because you don’t have to worry about the startup penalty and firing speed penalty that all the swords have.
    For Sniper, there isn’t a single other primary or melee that’s as consistent as stock. Sure the Bazaar can snowball and the Shahansha does a little more damage when at low hp, but it’s not enough to match the consistency of stock. When it comes to secondary it really depends on your play style and team. In comp the Jarate is banned so the only secondaries consistently used are the SMG and Cozy Camper. Both are very good in their own ways but the SMG is overall better as it could save you from flankers and finish off close low targets. If Jarate wasn’t banned, it would easily be meta due to its support role but outside of a good coordinated team, Jarate isn’t nearly as broken in casual.
    Finally, the Spy’s primary and melee are staples. The revolver is the most consistent primary, only ever switched out for the L’etranger (the DB would be meta but like the Jarate, it is banned) because of its usefulness when paired with the C&D on defensive payload. In comp, the Big Earner and Spy cicle will get the second most usage because they have the best utilities but overall, stock is more consistent in most situations. I don’t really need to touch on the sapper but the Invis Watch is easily his best and most consistent watch. Now the C&D isn’t bad at all, it’s actually used quite a bit in comp settings on things like defensive payload so you can sit cloaked and give callouts on things like enemy positions and Über percentage.
    All in all, these classes are losing little to nothing when running stock weapons.

    I think stock engineer got a little slept on.
    First of all, while I do prefer it the panic
    attack isn’t always a straight upgrade to stock, as it’s spread ends up screwing you over against players you can’t kill in a few hits.
    Well I believe you were mostly right about the pistol the wrench is where I got very confused. For one, the longer repair time of the jag can really make a difference in a team fight, and the jag also takes 3 hits to remove a zapper which gives a spy a longer window to backstab you. Finally, the eureka effect and southern hospitality are too situational to be considered better than stock.
    In conclusion, there’s no way he’s lower than heavy.
    Edit:Also the short circuit is probably a better battle engie weapon then the pistol tbh, I think a 5/10 would be most appropriate.

Stock has more airblast, and the higher afterburn damage can actually be very helpful in a lot of situations. In the majority of pyro cases, the stock will be more useful than the degreaser. For the most part, I agreed with your points, and the video was pretty well edited. I just think you really did Engineer dirty. The stock shotgun is pretty consistent as it has decent damage output both at a range and up close. Engineer's other primaries are good, but a lot of them still lack damage potential like the rescue ranger with it's less damaging attack and the frontier justice with it's lower clip size. The stock pistol is also solid, and is my personal go-to secondary. It's great at not only finishing off enemies when your shotgun needs to be reloaded, but it's also good as a mid-ranged tool used to soften up enemies before taking them down with your shotgun. The short circuit is also overrated I feel, just because it costs more metal to delete a projectile than to repair your building with metal, and it's only effective against 2 classes. Finally, the wrench is rarely the best wrench for a particular situation, but makes up for that in sheer consistency. The jag is a wrench that's weaker when all your buildings are already set up. The eureka effect is weaker when you are trying to set up your buildings in the first place. The gunslinger is very weak on defense. But the stock wrench? It's pretty good in all those situations, making it the jack-of-all-traits kind of melee. Overall, I'd give stock engineer a 6/10 just because of his self-defensive abilities, especially since none of his weapons are straight-up bad (unlike classes like Heavy).

    i think it's worth noting that no class has a truly bad stock loadout, valve just hasn't balanced around stock very well in the past, and each iteration of the TF team afterwards just hasn't bothered to try, eventually even basically replacing the medic's primary with a blatantly OP one because the community likes it. it's a weird situation

The pistol, I mean you have 200 reserve, It’s not even really bad, it’s a good way to spy check knowing damn well you will never run out of ammo. and sure, the short circuit will probably be better for fighting, but at least you won’t need to rely on metal. And soon you will realize that your buildings will have to die, and you will so only accept that. And you can deal some small bits of chip damage to help out your team a bit. If you can use the pistol well, then it will be a good thing in your arsenal. The stock wrench? Ok yeah it’s pretty bad, but hey, mvm exists lololol. Ok jokes besides I don’t think you’ll ever hit a bleeding hit besides cloaked spies and unaware enemies.

    I think the stock shotgun is more consistent than the panic attack.
    The main upsides of the panic attack are the faster switching speed and the higher damage if you can hit all pellets.
    But that's also the problem: I'm a Pyro main and if I don't get an ambush or perform a combo successfully, the enemy players are most likely going to try to get out of flamethrower range. The panic attack has a fixed spread, but said spread is pretty wide along with weaker individual pellets... it definitely is a great sidegrade for high DPS Pyros who want to challenge Heavy, but stock is going to complement your flamethrower more for allowing you to keep the pain at longer ranges.
    On Heavy I would have liked to hear the best reason to use a shotgun with him: moving.
    The situations where you're too slow revving the minigun are going to show up primarily while you're on your way to your objective rather than when you're there. It's not as good as the sandvich or the banana, but it's still a decent sidegrade especially when you don't have a Medic who mitigates the losses from revving and appreciates a healing source.
    I read comments about Soldier losing a lot from not using gunboats or a banner, but I can still defend using the shotgun if you're looking for deathmatching, where your rocket count is too limited to win fights or even charge a banner. So I guess as Soldier you're using banners if you do objectives or there's a lot of healthpacks in the map, gunboats if you're bombing or roaming, and the shotgun if you want to fight like God intended and Sun Tzu invented.

    my engineer has always been pretty close to stock. I like to either keep the pistol or the shotgun on at all times. I do this because some people think that the engi is only as good as his buildings, where in reality he is basically just a slower scout that can crap out lots of useful support tools. The utility that the wrangler gives is really hard to argue with though so I can see engi losing some points for not having that. Still, the pistol with its high ammo reserve is really useful for spy checking and for getting in chip damage from behind the scenes. As for the wrench... yeah, the stock isnt the best in pretty much any situation, but if I was forced to have just one wrench I think id either pick stock or the jag. I'd say the stock engi is like a 5/10 but I can see your argument for 3/10

The damage for the smgs is actually quite respectable as a finishing tool. Hit a body shot on a rushing enemy, back pedal and use the smg. Amazing for that, especially if they are trying to keep their distance away from your melee range. If you use the smg again a full health enemy you probably will die. Smg is good for what it’s meant to do

    Ever since I stopped using the Jag and went more with the Stock Melee, I notice how my buildings survive a shitton more of damage than when I'm using the Jag. Their efficiency might be similar, but it's not enough to be the same or better as Stock. I usually go with the "Uncle Dane" method of using the Jag to build up quickly, change up for the Eureka Effect when moving buildings, and change to stock to ACTUALLY defend. I find the Jag more useful as an Aggressive Engineer, rather than a Defensive one.
    Also, the Shotgun and Panic Attack are both amazing, but one works better in short range and the other one in mid-range, I wouldn't say there's a better option between them two, but I personally don't think you should EVER be in close range of anybody as Engineer, except for Spys, that's why I prefer Stock.
    The only weapon I think actually has an impact is your Secondary, because not using the Wrangler just feels like handicapping yourself with how easily people deal with nests these days. The pistol is not bad, and the Short Circuit is amazing for Offense, but the Wrangler works in ALL of situations, even in Offensive ones. (And with the surprising lack of teamwork casual and pubs have these days, let me tell you, it ain't easy to play as the class that depends the most on his team to be an actual threat...)

    I believe engie has one of the best stock loadouts. The stock shotgun is never really a bad option and random bullet spread doesn’t come into effect nearly as much as you’d think. His pistol I’d say is better than the short circuit in most situations (though ig theres not many rounds that no one’s playing soldier or demo lol.) Its nice to have that extra damage potential to poke at enemies that your sentry couldn’t finish off. I believe the stock wrench is his second-best melee. The jag is just too good to pass up in most situations but his other wrenches just have downsides that are too much for me most of the time, especially the southern hospitality. Thinking about it, he doesn’t really have any bad weapons if we don’t count the pomson.

The stock grenade launcher is better overall than all of the unlockable options (the Iron Bomber is better in some people's eyes, but it's a subjective valuation based on preference). The grenade launcher is also stronger overall than its secondary options (the shields are way, way, too different to consider them better or worse). And while the bottle isn't necessarily stronger than all of its unlockable competition, it's pretty strong, and doesn't have any of the strong downsides that other melee options have.

    I still agree with the wrench and i believe it is still outclassed, but engi’s unlocks aren’t nearly as essential as things like the lunchbox items or other good melees for heavy, which is why i believe heavy has the worst stock loadout

  • @Finppa
    @Finppa Рік тому

    I had to dislike when you were talking about the Engineer. The shotgun is just perfect for him in self-defence since the Sentry Gun usually does the heavy work.
    The pistol is great at taking pop shots at those outside your sentry range, and the reserve ammo is proof of that. Unlike the Scout who has 36 reserve ammo meant to finishing off enemies, the 200 reserve for Engi is to make others piss off.
    And the wrench is just fine. A really great stock weapon.

  • @widecat1404
    @widecat1404 Рік тому

    Calling engines loadout the worst is absolutely psychotic. Every single weapon is extremely reliable, and will serve you well in almost all situations.
    The other shotguns are all typically more situational, potentially having great upsides, but all having their downsides. The pistol might pale compared to the wrangler, but on its own merits it does good damage at greater ranges than the shotgun (and, in my opinion, is much more fun than the alternatives). The wrench, quite frankly, is rarely going to be the best option, but just because it isn't always as good as it's contemporaries it doesn't mean that it itself is not a good weapon, yet again being very reliable and perfectly viable.

    I’m sure you heard how you can use the shotgun with brass beast to negate its downside somewhat. But the shotgun is good to roam around with, or to chase occasionally. Stock shotgun will always deal good damage, and being able to move speed is going to be good especially for heavy. HOWEVER, you have to commit to that which these situations are rare, and not worth losing a lunchbox item.
    If you could swap immediately to a shotgun the moment you drop rev it would actually be pretty solid, being able to retreat and deal good damage. Still arguably worse then sandvich.

  • @Forestxavier20
    @Forestxavier20 Рік тому

    Legitimately, there is only two things I disagree with: Engineer and Medic.
    Engineer because simply put, whilst he has "better" options, his stock loadout is consistent and good for a defensive playstyle. It's the perfect way to teach a new player how to play Engineer. Their longest range option is a pistol, which has a lot of ammo and therefore can be spammed, but so many other classes have better ways to do longer range damage, meaning it's better for spychecking or picking off weakened enemies as they retreat. The Shotgun further reinforces this, as you have a gun with good stopping power, but no fancy mechanics that will confuse new players.
    Medic is much the same, yeah, the Crossbow/Ubersaw is meta because it is legitimately the best choices in 99% of situations, but that's for more experienced players. Medic's Syringe Gun and Bonesaw shouldn't be seen as weapons first, but escape tools. The Syringe Gun is a weapon you can shoot people with whilst backpedaling to escape a bad situation, the bonesaw is a quick defensive tool that is good for spychecking or as a last resort defense weapon. It is all psychological training for a good medic player. You do not pick engagements as Medic unless you are forced to. If shit hits the fan, pull out your primary and run away, firing at the enemy to deter them from just running at you in a straight line. If you see a scout or a spy, pull out your bonesaw and hit them, most of the time this will cause them to create distance which you can use your syringe gun to kill with or run in and get killed by a second melee.

    soda popper has better burst dps, also soda popper and short stop both have better sustain dps over stock but require significantly better aim to make use of, both non stock pistol are worse than stock for the new player with the new player not using the winger enough to justify its use and the PBPP faster firing speed needing better aim.
    i dont think the panic attack outshines the shotgun for any players as it facilitates a more aggressive playstyle as a sidegrade to stock.
    the stock flame thrower is a side grade to the degreaser for most players, stock is the king of airblast, can still do combos and has full afterburn damage for the wm1 new players, degreaser changes your playstyle to a more aggressive more secondary reliant class which isnt worse just different, panic attack is the same deal.
    bottle reigns supreme
    tomislav is again a faster version of stock, the minigun has less need for aim, better up close dps and better crowd control, good for more defensive playstyle,
    stock shotgun is a decent all rounder, frontier justice requires decent aim to hit those key crits, widowmaker requires good aim to be useful, panic attack is better at dealing with suprises like spies but stock can finish of enemies weaken by the sentry gun pretty well while still doing up close damage, rescue ranger relies almost fully on the sentry gun and makers the engie much more building based.
    these are all minor disagreements tho

  • @Woodland_Adventures
    @Woodland_Adventures Рік тому

    My man shitting on engi when he doesn't deserve it. Now, I may be biased here, but honestly, I think engineer has one of the better stock loadouts.
    The stock shotgun is a well rounded weapon, good as a finisher for killing people who managed to escape your sentry's wrath, and the same can be said for the pistol. However, even without a sentry, both of these weapons pair together extremely well, similar to how scout's scattergun pairs with his pistol, without the fast boston boy component.
    The pistol is great at long range chip damage, as well as a great finisher for when you run out of bullets in your clip. And with it's massive reserve ammo pool, it allows you to bug any enemies outside your sentries range. All in all, a well rounded weapon.
    And finally, the stock wrench. While it's no jag, and it doesn't allow you to teleport, or give you a godforsaken mini, what it does do, is be consistent. Good, consistent damage, consistent healing for your building, consistent ammo from packs and dispensers.

    I don't think engi's stock loadout is not a 3/10 the panic attack IS NOT a strait upgrade like you make it sound like the panic attack is beater at close range when every pellet connects and as engi you are usually near your sentry so the panic attack's higher damage when your up in your enemy's face won't happen that offend and when it does your sentry will just kill them before you even realize they were there so the stock shotgun's better damage at longer ranges is good for engi but the panic attack is good for killing spies and for when your sentry goes down, and the pistol is not as bad as you make it out to be, the pistol is good for killing injured enemies that got out of your sentry's range , and THE STOCK WRENCH IS NOT THE WORST WRENCH all other wrenches are balenced side grades to the stock weapons... except for the wrangler is it pretty op tbh and i do personaly love the panic attack but I stand by that the stock wrench IS GOOD it doesn't have less AMO pickup, it doesn't have a less repair rate, it doesn't make you die to pyros in 0.4 seconds it is a good weapon.

    While a decent analysis, I have a few contentions.
    One, the common sentiment, that random crits shouldn't be taken into account when regarding game balance.
    That said, the stock vs. panic attack should be considered on a class-by-class basis. It's great for pyro because he'll use fire and then make 1 or 2 shotgun shots though stock shotgun sees use because it covers pyro's mid-range weakness, however soldier tends to make several consecutive shots with the shotgun, leaving the increasing spread less and less of a non-factor but if you do a shoot feet finish them with shotgun the panic attack is an incredible choice. Consecutive shots is same to be said about Engi and heavy.. well.. I think that goes without saying that shotgun heavy does just fall behind.
    Demo, by far, his best options are, for the most part, stock (iron bomber crowd fight me it's so close that you'll hardly notice the difference). I feel he should straight up get a 10 out of 10 because his 3 strongest choices ARE his stock.
    Stock shotgun on engineer is eeking its way into 'meta' for highlander right now for a pretty good reason- self defense. There's a strong argument for it being one of his best primaries for general use. Pistol is also excellent for non-defensive loadouts. If you're going to be on the offensive, pistol is a superb choice- I feel as if your engi analysis is with perspective of a turtle and not an engineer who adapts on the fly and adjusts his playstyle so you might have overlooked that.
