I watched this movie for the first time with my grandma when I was like 16 (19 rn) and we were both speechless, mouths agape the entire time. My grandma said "Isn't that the white girl from Get Out? She always ruining a black person's vacation like damn" and I haven't recovered since. So glad you reacted to this!!

The twists and turns of this movie were SPECTACULAR like one time I was Charlotte is our main character okay so she's good then she's the villain then she's the good one again. But honestly speaking why did she felt the need to make Lizzie chop her own hands off? Hands down such a traumatizing yet a great scene!

Yeah The Perfection was a good one. I love how Ashley's history from being in Get Out had all of us on guard when we see saw her in this one. But overall, the chemistry between her and Logan was great.

The Perfection is a story about people obsessed with perfection in cello sound. Every time the piano plays, they feel like they are one step closer to God and two steps farther from the road to Hell. However, in the end, the journey to find perfection is just an excuse for them to torment young souls. The Perfection's message may be far-fetched for Western audiences, but it's incredibly close to Asian audiences, especially China, because it shows a harsh truth that the young generation in Asia must face: torture in the name of education.
If you regularly read news related to education, especially Chinese education, you will feel no stranger to the phrase "tiger mother", which comes from the memoirs of Amy Chua, whose had harsh parenting methods such as willingly calling their children "stupid", "trash", threatening to burn their children's toys and have used that method to "train" their children to be piano geniuses. Her method of raising children is not uncommon and is even supported by fellow parents, but it is what shocked Western parents.
It's not hard to see that The Perfection and Charlotte's story is ironic and criticizes this educational method in the most subtle way possible. Set in China, the supporting characters are also Chinese… it doesn't seem to be related to the main American characters, but it has a strong connection to the message the filmmaker wants to give. The Perfection depicts this educational method in scary words expressed through the plot and the characters' dialogues such as "brainwashing", "rape", "torture"… And of course, many Parents in Asia and even Vietnam (myself), if they understand what the movie is trying to say, will also feel a bit... "ticky (blenched)" when it comes to using their children to fulfill their own ambitions, putting them in a tough race with no shadow of a "having fun" as their age deserves, is not China's own affair.
In order to escape that horrible upbringing, the characters are forced to go to the end of their loss to realize the wrong they are suffering. Damaging their own abilities can help them break free from their chains in The Perfection. In real life, how much rebellious does it take to make children who are used to that form of education realize that they are gradually being stolen of their childhood, and whether they really want to get out of it ? Maybe until they are pushed by circumstances like Charlotte or come to the realization of their own blindness like Elizabeth, despite being kicked out of the academy, (implying that Asian parents often threaten their children, kicking them out of the house whenever they rebel and don't do what the parents want), only then can they decide for themselves.

When you objected the guy bringing god into the conversation, I was immediately reminded of a show you have to watch. It is called ‘Under the banner of heaven’, it stars Andrew Garfield and follows a mormon detective who tries to solve a brutal murder connected to the LDS. This show is (in my opinion) so sick and twisted, so I think you’re gonna love it and hate it at the same time.

Oh, this movie was physically and mentally exhausting. I was left weak watching it and I thought it was going to be some paranormal movie but then it turned into some mundane danger but is somehow even more horrific. And most movies struggle with one twist. This one had THREE. One thumb up!
