You cannot soak nails first and file them afterwards, you damage your nails and then it causes chipping. File your dry nails first and then soak them to push and remove your cuticles. Done!
Neat video, but here’s a GREAT tip: Before applying polish, wipe your nails with acetone. This will remove any oil that may be on the nail bed. Doing this step will help your polish to last a little bit longer!
Sweetie ( I'm old , I can call you that lol) don't you let anyone steal your fire! You have your own way and it obviously works for you. You are blessed with strong nails. Mine are very thin and polish flakes off of mine because they bend so easily. So, unfortunately I have to spend a small fortune to get mine done. I like to paint them at home after because those sneaky girls don't paint up to the cuticle causing you to have to go back in a week or two sooner. lol. Have you tried those transfer design plates? You said your dog has fomo? What does that stand for please? I suspect my husky has a mild form lol. I wear a similar color every summer usually. Love it!
I am a 68 year old female who is retired and on a budget. After 40 years of having my nails done professionally, I want to do them myself at home. All of your videos are wonderful and very helpful. Thank you for showing us how to do our own manicures, gel polish and powders at home.
Thank you for the video, I never do my nails. For me its a new area to enter. I learned your systematic approach and I get the therapeutic aspect. Thanks, you inspired me.
Coming off a "dip" manicure at salon - which I initially liked but a pain when It starts growing out. Your video tells me what I need to know. Good job.
OMG SAMEE!! for me when I’m doing my manicures, painting my nails it’s like me time. It’s sooo relaxing and therapeutic. Btw I’ve never heard of painting underneath ur nails with a bottom coat, I’m a bit spectacle bit I’ll try and see f it does protect them, normally I just cap my free edge, bc like it’s kinda the same thing. But I do have very long nails so I’ll definitely try this out. 😊😁🥰
I agree you did a beautiful job on your nails and toes nails sence I watch you do you nails at home like you said you have to take time a patients for everything for your toenails and nails so that way they look pretty and how to take care of them so that's what I'm going to do I never new using 100% acetone nail polish remover makes your nail polish last longer on your nails and everything specially to take the oil off your nail lol keep up the good work I Subscribe to your channel so when you do new and more videos I will watch them keep up the good work
Jennifer , with any nail polish at home you can apply a gel topcoat. It dries a bit faster and the polish will last 5-7 days. The gel manicures and SNS from the salon are more toxic .
I hear ya girl! I normally use the ONM Out The Door Topcoat or the Essie Gel Setter....both dry VERY fast & leave nails chip-free and shiny for days. :)
I always wondered with the UV drying thingys, do you have to use any sort of UV protectant for your cuticles/fingers? I just wonder if over time it could be dangerous?
Soaking your nails in water is not good before you paint them. When you paint your nails you want them as dry as possible because then the polish sticks as good as possible. When there is any fluid or oil underneath the nailpolish, you’ll get lifting and chipping. I prefer washing my hands with soap and a quick rinse instead of soaking them in a bowl of water...
The problem I have with soaking my nails is that they absorb water and are bigger. If I get them polished in this state, when the water dries out, my nails shrink back to normal and the polish buckled and cracks. Any time my nails are in water, I follow them up with a jojoba based nail oil. The oil keeps my nails flexible but strong and never dry.
Also water is really bad for your nails, it makes them prone to chipping because they get so brittle. Water doesn't moisturize your hands and nails like she implied, it dries them out because it strips the natural oils from your skin and nails. That's why when you wash your hands too often, they get super dry. It's not the soap that does it, it's the water.
I really appreciate all of your feedback! I'm not a professional, I just like to soak them prior to filing because they tend to curve inwards ...which makes it difficult to file them evenly. I dry them very well post-soak and have never experienced any breakage/chipping due to soaking. But that's good to know. XO
Me: mom can I buy more nail polish Mom: sure Me: yayay, when can we go Mom: 5 minutes and 3 years from now😂😂 This is a true story and I am still counting
I usually do my left thumb and go all the way to my pinky, and do the same with my right hand after I’m done with my left. Same with when I remove the polish. I am a lefty as well.
I just uploaded my first manicure tutorial, definitely a lot harder than it looks (I’ve never done anything like that before so my video doesn’t look as good as yours and I probably should’ve done more editing to shorten it) I’ve watched several other tutorials and have stopped the video part way through because they skip important steps and sometimes their voice just annoys me (I know it’s not their fault) but I watched yours to the end and I like the fact you point out little details that a lot of other people wouldn’t know to do and aren’t shown in other videos (in particular about sealing the tips with polish - such an important step!) Those are the things that make the difference between an ok manicure and a great manicure!! :-)
What’s the best nail polish to use? Your video is so helpful! I’m 24 and just learning how to be a little more girly and paint my nails lol thanks for the info!
Thank you so much! You can totally do them yourself - I love so many difference polishes. Honestly - Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure line is probably my favorite!! good luck :) XOXO
Aw! Me too! Nothing like a fresh manicure! I love that you paint them yourself too. And how frustrating when you nick, smudge, or chip them :( that's the worst!
6:01-6:18 I can relate. I love doing my nails, but I have a bad habit of biting my nails so I can rarely ever paint them because they are neve long enough.
I have the shakes all the time so I could never paint mine like Kayla. I also find doing my own manicure is very therapeutic, but I have to play the How Messy Can You Get and How Well Can You Clean It Up? Lol... I still do my own and I am getting better at it even with the shakes. Love your show Hun. There is an issue though. When filing and buffing it is best to go one direction. It helps to keep the nail from splitting at the tips. It takes a bit more time but I noticed my nails looked a lot better. Now my questions. How many coats do u do of all 3 polishes? And should each coat be dry?
Is that a chihuahua? Mine is the same! I just put her little doggy bed and set it on the chair next to me. And push the chairs flush against each other. She likes to watch me cook too, so she loves when I put her up on a chair, she can see better. It doesn't annoy me--I love having my furry little shadow--can't live without her!
Consider: File your nails while they still have polish on them - they are stronger with polish on & you can better see their shape. Soaking nails allows them absorb water & weakens them. Using a cuticle remover cream achieves this better. Wash hands afterwards and use a nail brush to clean around and under the nails removing dirt and cuticle remover. Soaking your nails allows the water to interfere with the application of the nail polish.
Hello i know its an old video but i love your video and already subscribed😍 lovely nails and thank you for this great video...by the way is it normal nail polish or gel nail polish?
Washing dishes is not the same as soaking your nails though, dish soap and rubbing with a sponge helps to get your nails soft and sensitive, while soaking without rubbing should just clean them
@@AmandaBellaa thank you so much for all of the inspiration! I am saying so long to acrylics and dip powder and will be slowly doing my own nails! I’ve watched your channel for a long time now and it so great to watch!❤️
I get it, it is not easy for me to do nails too. Sometimes people do give me compliments about my nails. I don't think they've said it's like easy for me to do nails but they did give me compliments. I've been doing my nails for sometime already and it is STILL hard, most of the time. Lol. Cuz I have to be careful not to smudge it, I have to be quick when painting so it doesn't get thick and sticky but at the same time be careful not to get polish on my skin cuz that OFTEN happens. So yeah, it's frustrating sometimes but I still want to do it cuz I love having nail polish on. Lol. Also, the most important thing about doing nails to me is patience.
Thank you! I don't really have oneee base coat that I swear by, but I usually use one from Essie or Nail Tek. For topcoats I use The INM Out the Door which is amazing(!) and the Essie Gel Setter Topcoat which is phenomenal as well. Both can be found at CVS! :)

You cannot soak nails first and file them afterwards, you damage your nails and then it causes chipping. File your dry nails first and then soak them to push and remove your cuticles. Done!
Yes no soaking before filing. Actually, filing before removing polish accurately shows the way your nails look.
Thanks!
I find it very relaxing watching people paint their nails, anyway yours turned out really neat and cute

I love manicures!!

LOL! That's always the hardest part. ;) Thanks for watching! XO
The problem that I usually get when I paint my nails is that even if I wait about an hour or so, the Polish would still smudge when I use Top Coat
Try Seche Vite! Their top coat dries so quickly.
I did have it and it barely worked for me....My mom got me Pure Ice Girl on the go Quick Dry Top Coat and it worked

HOW??? When I paint my nails one hand is always really good and the other really bad...
Ahh! The struggle is real! Practice & have patience... you'll get it! I still do a sloppy job once in a while.
Some other videos suggested moving your dominant hand and holding the brush hand still. I thought that was pretty clever
Because you have a good hand a bad hand the good hand you polish with is good but your bad hand is bad
Aussie Annie it’s practice.. in the beginning I couldn’t do it either but now I can
