Do you have tips for white lines/spots on toe nails? I was trying to figure out what causes them and what to do. I have healed my fingernails and my toe nails have been dry after using undiluted tea tree oil. it was a terrible mistake and after a year still seeing brittle nails. I have been using kerasal n now leaving unpolished with hopes it will grow out
@@TheSalonLife thank you so much! I watched it and going to try the pen u recommended. I have recently stopped polishing so hopefully a few months from now I will see healthy nails
I found u a couple of months ago and have been using glass files, London town nail strengthener , Blue cross cuticle remover, Kerasal, jojoba oils and my nails are so healthy! i haven't seen my nails and cuticle this healthy since i was a child. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my dear! I am so grateful to you! I am an older woman (0k, ok, a senior) and have always treated my nails badly (no gloves when working with strong cleaners, forgetting to apply handcream, blah blah blah). I like short, clean nails and have never been able to give myself a good manicure. Then I found you!! (Cue heavenly choir voices here:🎵Aaaaaah🎵) Wow! I followed this video and gave myself a manicure two weeks in a row. Was out today with friends and someone complimented me on my lovely nails. (Quick, grab the heavenly choir before they leave 'cause we need another 🎵Aaaaaah🎵 right here.) Thank you so much!
Please, continue to repeat yourself! I have been following you for many months. I did my manicure today by pausing at each step with you. And from one hand to the next, I needed that repetition. Thank you. 🎉
I used to be SO rough on my cuticles when doing my manicures on my natural nails. Especially my thumbs. I would end up with severely wavy thumbnails. I would also use a cuticle nipper and cut the skin barrier (can't think of the appropriate name for it) around the nail bed. Then wonder why I struggled so much to have normal healthy nails!! So I have learned to use white cross cuticle remover when doing my manicures and GENTLY pushing back my cuticles with my purple Tweezerman cuticle tool. Keeping my nails moisturized with good oil and at night I use the Kerasal Intensive Foot Repair ointment for the overgrown skin around my nailbed and sides of my nails. And practicing PATIENCE (hard for me to do as I wanted immediate results!) to work towards healthy nails again. Just want to sincerely thank you for your guidance!! I watch your videos on UA-cam as I'm getting ready in the morning for work 😊👍🏼
I discovered your channel 6 weeks ago. The cuticle oil, hand lotion and healing ointment, Aquaphor have been a game changer! No more gel manicures for me!!You have changed my life! My nails have never been so healthy and strong! You have made me so happy with my nails!
Did my nails while I was watching your video. 💅🏻I’ve started doing my own nails since I found your channel and learned how to care for them. My nails were in awful condition especially my cuticles. Since learning the proper way to clean and care for them through your videos, my nails have been stronger and my cuticles healthy! Thank you! ❤
Anna, I have learnt so much from you. For the longest time i hated how my hands looked. My nails were always broad and flat, which made my already plumpy fingers more fat. I started filing my nails like you showed in one of your videos and over time i was able to give them an almond shape. Now i regularly take care of my hands. My nails are healthy and less brittle. I have never been this happier with them. All thanks to you. Now i do my own mani and pedi because it's self love and allow me to relax and feel good about myself. My hands and feet feel beautiful now. Also my husband asked if my fingers are getting leaner. It's because of the almond nails wink wink 😅
Just got my nail kit from you in the mail and I love it all, especially the manicure pusher. It is much gentler on the nails than others I have used and doesn’t scratch up my nails or skin. And thank you for the nail salve!

That salve looks really nice. I used to file my nails daily and I realise that could be detrimental. Now I file them maybe every four days to weekly. They are a stronger already. Thanks for these videos 😊
You mean you used to shorten your nails daily? And now you shorten them very few days to weekly? Shortening the nails will not make them stronger or weaker.
@@TheSalonLife Yes they were very short, it was a matter of making sure they were even. I read that filing nails daily can weaken them. It was silly I realise to file them daily. I do my nails I would say every four days or weekly, I don’t bite my nails and try to apply as much serums and oils as possible to my nails. As you said it won’t have weakened them, that makes me feel better.

So happy to wake up this morning to this video. I love watching you do a manicure on your nails. Your attention to detail when explaining the process is awesome!
100% because of learning from you my nails have never been better. They grow and rarely break anymore, and they were in terrible condition before I found you. I am sooo happy finally! Thank you! 💅
Thank you for sharing and explaining how to remove cuticles. You have very pretty hands for someone who used to bite their nails. I bit my nails until I was about 10, but they are very weak and a couple of the separate in layers.

Trying to take steps to take just a little bit better care of myself after a long period of depression. So i'm going to start here with you and this video. 😊 Thank you.
Best video.. I have started my kerasal journey after following you, a great advice ever for weak flaky nails. Still I have a long way to go as I was a heavy nail biter.
Excellent. I’ve been doing my nails for years and years. Anna’s advice has changed my life… and my nails! 😉 I use Kerasal on my feet as well as my cuticles. It is incredible. Be patient. It will be so worth it. Good luck.
My cuticles are especially sticky but I am using Blue Cross every week and trying to learn the best technique with the pushy. I’ve seen a little improvement but it really does take time and perseverance.
Sometimes the cuticle is stuck and there is more of it (like in the case of my middle finger) and sometimes the skin fold is stuck and stretched. If you are talking about the skin fold then gently nudge it every couple of days and use exfoliant like Kerasal for that skin to become elastic and bounce back.

Absolutely love your channel. I found you when I was looking for a pedicure video and was so happy with your views on no cutting cuticles. Thank you for the detailedinformation. 😊
I have been watching your videos off and on since 2020 (?), I think. Thanks to you, I began to love doing my own manicures and using only Dazzle Dry polish for the most part. Love how fast it dries! It seems in the early years, you recommended Mont Bleu glass files. I see with your new products, you don’t have a glass file available. So, does that mean you have a preference for the emery board type nail files and not glass? Thanks so much for sharing your information and expertise with us!
Buy the nail kit!!!! I am obsessed 1. File 2. Gently push nail fold to expose cuticle 3. Blue cross cuticle remover + leave on for 2 mins (one hand at a time) 4. Rinse off with water (spray bottle) and dry with clean towel, leaving some moisture 5. Scrape off cuticle with sharp edge tool (can also use to gently clean under nail later) 6. Buff free edge of nail with 280/280 7. Apply nail salve to nail beds and cuticles This was for me but hope it helps!
Hi. I wanted to get your advice for Doing gel manicure at home? Do you recommend that I use a drill to buff my nails or a nail buffer so that the polish will adhere better to the nail? And if so what kind of drill should I use or nail buffer?
I do not recommend doing gel polish manicures without specific training. The training should cover proper prep and safety measures that you don't get allergic to the gels We are going to be talking about this with my guest Robert Giblett today during our UA-cam live ua-cam.com/users/livexCagzUfT3Wc?feature=share
Do you ever plan to create a glass file? I like the fine grit and sturdy aspect of a glass file. My nails are very small and delicate, I try to use a delicate file to shape & smooth my nail edges with minimal back & forth.
Really I’m not a fan of glass files. I mean nothing wrong with them and it’s a preference thing but I really prefer the ones I sell and then smoothing the ends with the sponge file. That gives me the smoothest finish ever.
I love your channel so much, and try to do a weekly manicure in order to stop cutting the skin fold. Somehow, I still didn't succeed to slow it's growth, when I push it back it's not looking good, so I cut again. But I will be persistent hoping to succeed one day. Greetings from Serbia 🎉
Skin fold doesn't grow. It can stretched if it's stuck to the nail plate. It takes time for the skin to heal if you've been cutting it for a while. Nudge it gently every few days and use an exfoliant every night. Here is a video I make where I discuss it ua-cam.com/play/PLnP7qaKYlbX5R549SguUizXDGmslD0C4d.html
Hi Anna thank you so much for your wonderful tutorials. May i ask why you do not soak your feet and hands before your own treatments. Yet in the salons they do. xxx
I’m trying to help my nails recover from an allergic reaction to gel. One question I have - is it necessary to remove cuticles? I’ve never used cuticle remover before and it seems like it’s just a thing people always do. Is it important for the health of the nail? I’m trying to do all the other things you suggest.
Hello! Have you or would you make a video how to care for nails that grow upwards (ski jump nails)? This is my issue, I'm not sure if it can be corrected, I'm not a nail biter. I'm also wondering if this contributes to my nail beds being short and free edge starting too early. Love your videos!
Hi from Spain! I'm addicted to your chanel since I discovered you ❤ I would love to know how to prepare myself the product that you use at the end, do you have the "recipe" explained somewhere?
I wish I had long nail beds like you do. I'm oiling my cuticles all the time now and gently pushing back my cuticles and proximal nail fold to get it to not grow long like it usually likes to. So far so good with that. The warm oil soaks feel amazing too! I have a question. Do you have to remove the mavala every week or just apply it twice a week until my super thin nails stop that nonsense??
Thank you for sharing. Your manicure looks amazing! Watching this video really confirmed that I have been doing it correcty for many years. Down to cleaning the skin cells under the nails after. Question: how can I get to order some files and cuticle pushers from you? Is it fine to do a manicure soaking my hands in a mild soapy warm water to soften my cutices and then use a cuticle pusher instead of a cuticle remover solution?, or can I choose to use those electric nail drills (this is the method Ive done for years without lifting up my skin folds, it pushes it back along with ridding of my cuticles) after soaking my hands in warm soapy water? This last question is the method I have been doing for 10 years myself and never had a problem. Blessings~
Hello Anna! I found your channel back in March and have been faithfully following your advice for manicures and learning a lot along the way. I think the most important detail I’ve picked up is learning what the cuticle actually is and loving that you are an advocate for gentle but effective natural nail care that doesn’t involve clipping that area of the skin. Pushing the skin back gives my nails that clean look without risking injury (I was always too scared to clip that area and never did.) Following your advice and techniques has helped me gain a new sense of self care that I didn’t have before. I actually look forward to caring for my nails! I do manicures every Sunday and use oil after washing hands which helped a lot with hang nails. (I wish I could find an Anna for other aspects of my life, lol.) 🫧 💅
I remember you mentioning you lived in Vancouver, BC previously. Am I wrong? Either way, I thought perhaps you might know a nail technician you can recommend who works in the Vancouver area. I have to get gel manicures regularly to avoid picking at the skin around my nails and nibbling on my nails too on occasion. I have tried many salons but haven’t been able to find one that does it with the care and diligence I’m looking for. I always end up with nail damage that requires me to take long breaks, which restarts my nail progress. I would love to have someone who is aware of your work or someone who has a gentle approach at the very least. Thank you for all the information you share once again!
It depends... if you are polishing your nails after I would remove the cuticle. If you are not polishing then I would not worry unless it bothers you. Every week the nail grows 1mm, so you will have 1 mm cuticle on the nail plate. If you care for your nails, use exfoliant like Kerasal and oil then there won't be much cuticle because it will slough off naturally.
I have like hard nail growing out side of my nails. And also on sides it’s like it’s bending up. What do I do as at the minute I’ve filed off what advice please
Morning Anna from Wales 🏴… you mentioned you weren’t selling the salve😢 …do you have a recipe to make it like you did with the nail oil? Appreciate all your advice, my nails have improved greatly - thanks for sharing your knowledge 🤩
Good morning! So happy your nails have improved :) I include the salve as a gift with each order. The exactly ingredients are listed in the online store. Just look at the pictures please. :))
Yes, I did see the ingredient list -thanks …just hoped you might share a video of you making it😉 Unfortunately I can’t justify buying the kit for the salve alone, as I already own those tools💖
I try and do my own manicure but after a few days l have raggedy skin working its way down my finger from the base of my nail. Could l be cutting the live skin and not the cuticle? Any help much appreciated. 💋
Well, cuticle cannot be cut really. If you are cutting something then it’s most likely skin fold. Skin fold does not really “grows”. It does not crawl down the nail. If the skin is stuck to the nail the nail will pull it down or if the skin has been cut it forms almost like a scab because it’s trying to heal. Check out these videos where I explain more about the skin fold and cuticle and what to do in this case. How to start taking care of your nails ua-cam.com/play/PLnP7qaKYlbX5R549SguUizXDGmslD0C4d.html
@@TheSalonLife I use either Blue Cross or some by Orly. The Blue Cross is fast, but I learnt from your videos to keep it off the surrounding skin as much as possible. I never knew that before and wondered why my surrounding skin was so dry afterwards. It’s wonderful now that I know that information, so thank you! I do mine at home because I’m a nurse who sleeps days and works nights (7p-7a) and salons are always closed while I’m sleeping, haha.
Hi Anna, for the secondo time I used Active smooth by Manucurist for my manicure. Now my nails are so soft that I struggle to file them. Why do you think? 😮
Hey! I am very new to nail care. My cuticles are healthy and I have never used any chemicals on my nails. But my nails are very weak and break easily. Also my nail beds have different sizes and shapes. Is there a way to fix that?
I’d love to get you to do me a manicure. I have a similar issue with middle finger I think because of drawing and painting with constant tool pressure.
I hope I can get my nails pretty much like this... My problem is I expect results after 2 or 3 times of doing this. I give up and say to myself FORGET IT... I also hope I can get my nail beds longer on my fingers like yours or similar. I have tiny hands, small fingers ad my nails have aways been tiny. I have let them grow out, when they have grown out 80% of my nails usually ended up off the tips of my finger. I wouldnt try to keep them filed as they grew, then after 1 or several nails would slightly break I would end up chewing them off or I got stressed I would chew them off then be back to square one all over again...I definitley need to get me those tools. I am curious as I am watching this video and am watching you push back the skin fold. Should I still be using something made by Sally Hansen called Instant Cuticle remover? I am also curious if I was to get my hands completely wet with water say I was outside using the hose should I still use the JOJO oil and lotion on my fingers even though I didnt technically use soap it was only😮 water?
I see you just spray water on your nails with the Blue Cross instead of soaking your nails in a bowl of water. Could please talk about the pros/cons of soaking nails (fingers as well as toes)? Thank you for all the great quality content on your channel!!!!
Hi Anna, I have tried to get blue cross but I haven’t been able to get it here in Girona. Could you recommend something else that I may be available here please? I love watching your videos I find them so calming.
Whenever I do my nails just doing the basics can take me at least an hour. I usually do the basics then the rest (polishing, etc) the following day. Then again I have ADHD so distractions make the process lengthy
Keep practicing and it gets faster. This is why I recommend doing simple manicures once a week. Less to do and more practice:) What takes you the most amount of time by the way?
@@TheSalonLifepushing back my cuticles, it's hard for me to hold that particular tool. Whenever I write anything I find myself gripping the pen much harder than necessary, I think it may be an ADHD thing as I've struggled with this for as long as I can remember.

Thank you for the summary! I copied your list onto an index card.
@@barbarak914 no problem! Same, I have it screenshotted haha my brain runs on bullet points!
You do the best nail care videos!
Thank you kindly!!! ❤️
Did my nails today as well 😍
Thank you Anna!
Thanks for all the free advice. Just ordered my nail kit.
Thank you so much :))
Nice, easy manicure! 🎉
Thank you for this wonderful video! How often can/should I remove cuticle?
The training should cover proper prep and safety measures that you don't get allergic to the gels
We are going to be talking about this with my guest Robert Giblett today during our UA-cam live

Always so much fun to watch you doing your nails. Now I have to do mine!😁
Here is a video I make where I discuss it

@@TheSalonLife thank you very much ❤️
I ❤ Salon Life ❤
Love your balm!❤
So happy to hear this!!!
Great video! Thank you for teaching this. How ofter can or should use cuticle remover? I just started using it.
Hello, everything explained here:

Dear Anna, how can I be sure which part of the nail file to use? I got your kit and I’m still learning 😊
Blessings~
Please make an Australian 🇦🇺 Amazon shop too 🤗
Would you be willing to share your recipe for the salve?
You have nice nails
Thank you :))
Great video thank you!
The Blue Cross cuticle remover I bought is much thicker and hard to spread.
They make a gel as well. Maybe that’s what you got ?
I just ordered the kit just to get your salve..lol. all the way from Chicago. You should really start selling it
Oh gosh! If there is an interest and I get a good feedback then I really might :))
Hi , trying to buy but the Philippines is not on the list. :(
Is it too much to remove the cuticle at every manicure ( once a week ) or is every other week better ? 💕
Yes, I did see the ingredient list -thanks …just hoped you might share a video of you making it😉
Unfortunately I can’t justify buying the kit for the salve alone, as I already own those tools💖
How do you cut out the skin around the nail and on the sides of it?
Hello, I'm not sure what you mean. I don't cut the skin. The full manicure is shown :)

What is in the salve tins? I agree, it looks like it’s easy to use, but I do like the jojoba oil too.
The ingredients are posted in our online store :)
Ps. You can totally use both. :)
See you once a week!
Question: after applying cuticle remover, I wash my hands in the sink with a nail brush. Is it better to spray the water? Thank you!
No, washing in the sink is good too. :) ps. Which cuticle remover do you use?
My nails also widen from the base, they dont grow straight.
As always great video. You have beautiful nails.😊. The kit looks amazing. Congratulations!!
Thank you you awesome
You're welcome!❤️
Hey, can you recommend something for people who have sensory issues against nail filing please??
Sometimes it depends on the file. Glass files are notorious for bothering people.
I rarely get professional manis but when i do , i have to keep telling the gals that the cuticle is not the live edge and i dont want it trimmed 😂
Change a nail tech:). That’s like asking McDonald’s to cook you a steak. ;)
How often do you replace your nail files?
At the salon they are 1 time use only item. Personal use, they last quite a while. At least 10 manicures I would say? I never counted.
I never soaked the nails. Just rinced them in a bowl of water. This time I had spray on hand. Doesn’t matter as long as you rinse the remover well
Hi Anna, I have tried to get blue cross but I haven’t been able to get it here in Girona. Could you recommend something else that I may be available here please? I love watching your videos I find them so calming.
Usually it's available on Amazon but it seems to be out of stock now

Whenever I do my nails just doing the basics can take me at least an hour. I usually do the basics then the rest (polishing, etc) the following day. Then again I have ADHD so distractions make the process lengthy
Keep practicing and it gets faster. This is why I recommend doing simple manicures once a week. Less to do and more practice:)
What takes you the most amount of time by the way?
@@TheSalonLifepushing back my cuticles, it's hard for me to hold that particular tool. Whenever I write anything I find myself gripping the pen much harder than necessary, I think it may be an ADHD thing as I've struggled with this for as long as I can remember.
LOVELY
Thank you :)
Where can you purchase the small container of lubricant?
I make it and I include it as a gift with the kit I sell :). Link in the description box and pinned comment :)
