- Bass-shredding along with RKL (with some improvisation).
Rich Kids on LSD - Blocked Out, live
The live version I'm playing along with is different from the one on the Double Live LP, it's from the supporting 1989 European tour, captured live by Tribal Area: • RKL (Rich Kids On LSD)...
Bass cover by Steven Wijtenburg.
I recorded this with a digital camera only, hence the fret buzz and pick noise, sorry.
Check out my other punk rock bass covers:
-RKL - Betrayed (bass cover): • RKL 'Betrayed' full BA...
-RKL - Tribute to the Jester (bass cover): • RKL 'Tribute to the Je...
More to come!
2022 update: RKL - Live in a Dive (live in the Effenaar, Eindhoven 1989) will be released on Fat Wreck Chords in june!!

RKL was from my neighborhood and Jason was my bro…the sound track of my childhood. YOU KILLED IT!
It's like a bass symphony
One of THE BEST if not THE BEST cover of BLOCKED OUT I'VE EVER HEARD!!! 🤘 (You make it look easy)
it looks easy because he's not playing it right lol
@@brain4154 I know I think he says this is his own version. Still can't find any better cover online.
(Except Joey and Bomber)
This is an incredible find for me!
I couldn't really put a number on how many other kids had sat listening to RKL and trying to piece together the bass parts, but it makes me so damn happy to see this and the comments on this video.
I've been learning drums the past years and just like bass, RKL is pretty much where I set my goals. I think anyone that plays these songs can agree that playing RKL sets you up with the skills you need for most instruments.
That rules. Favorite band for 35 years, enjoyed every min.
Nice work man! I can’t even fathom remembering so may different parts in just one song! RnR Nightmare is one of my all time favorite records! Absolutely unmatched and insane!
God damn man!
Brutal fingers!!!!!
Good ears
That’s some damn fine work man. Bravo!
Dude, you are freaking awesome. Fat Mike got it so wrong. You have done justice to the song and put your own twist on it. The important thing was that you got the basic notes right. What you do in between them in all freedom. I am a fan of you. And I played Bass for RKL for a short time👍👍😆
To be fair to Fat Mike, he probably hasn't played it in decades. One things for sure you can hear the RKL influence in Fat Mike's play style.
Fat mike is far from a bad bass player,
His riffs also cannot be matched
Also he is a mastermind lyricist, that cannot be matched,
Give credit where its due guys
@@cheyneanderson5222 I’ve known Mike for years. And I wholeheartedly agree. Mike is a genius. But if you are going to cover a song, you should at least play the basic notes correct. That all I was saying. No animosity toward Mike
Thanks Rick, I never expected that someone who played for RKL would actually find my video and even comment, wow!
I've seen some footage of you playing live with them back in the days, including rarely performed songs like One Light One Mind. Awesome man!
Thanks for the motivating words!
@@cheyneanderson5222 fat mike also learned it from bomer himself, who originally composed the bassline, so i highly doubt his version is wrong at all
Dude this awesome, congrats !
Finally and ty sir! Killed it!
Kick ass man one of my favorite songs of all time
Yes,yes,Yes, großartig Mann, genial gespielt, 👍🏻
Holly cow ! Great job
Epic cover
Dude! That was incredible. I never realized how LONG that song is. Way to not even break a sweat -- You crushed it. MORE RKL PLEASE! New Sub 🤘😀🤘

Nice, scab on my brain in que!
Ich it now!
Mate your a f%$# king legend wish I could play that
I miss RKL so much. You made it better.
amazing
Nicely done, bro.
This is a flex
Next to Propagandhi, these guys are the second hardest to play. Nice job
Its only rockn roll baby!❤
💥👏👏👏👏👏👏
I keep coming back to this video I wish he used a standard 20 fret. Then I could slow it down to learn some parts I'm a poor slob with no music training can't read tabs
Thanks dude, I never took lessons either, just keep practicing!
@@beerbong1988 I used to be a lot better at some things back in the 90's but there was always some reason I had to sell my bass. the Hamer first the Ibenez a few years ago Now I bought the least expensive "starter" package online. I just keep banging away ! Next I'll play your video in SLO-MO to see if I can figure out BLOCKED OUT. Man tuff song, my respect Dude....damn!
Live version is great, as your interpretation altrough. Ibanez Srx series sounds great too.
i'm come here after watching fat mike did this cover
I saw Fat Mike's cover. This dude smokes Fatty. This Guys playing on a 24 fret bass, it's meant to be played on a standard 20 fret. Either way after watching both, I went online (pawn shop was closed for pandemic?) And bought the cheapest bass I could find. A month of playing & still not in shape! Keep thumping!
very cool dude! where you from? do you have a band, or wanna start one? :P
what kind of bass guitar is that?
do you have the skate deck? cause I'd like to beat you in at least one aspect of my rkl collection
🤙🤙👍👍✌️✌️
