I got my first car six weeks ago. A 2003 Honda CR-V 2.0 Auto and cost me £2,995 (high price due to the current high 2nd hand market) I’m 54 and insurance was £950 (no black box) I had to drive it from Burnley to Manchester on the motorway (no previous motorway lessons) in pouring rain. Talk about thrown in the deep end. But I coped with the pressure really well. I’ve currently done over 400 miles with trips out gaining experience.

Hey, congrats for the car, I actually have the same car (also as my first car) and I've been using it for a while! I'm 21 and I also recently got the driving license so it's basically the same situation as yours but in Italy and 4 months later. Here are some tips for you: 1. Handbrake: you can use it for starting on a hill by holding it UP, and when you release it, it will set OFF automatically. The passenger can also use it to slow down the vehicle in case of an emergency by pulling it UP and keeping it UP until the car is stopped, however you can override it by keep pushing the accelerator. (A lot of cars with electronic handbrake has this feature) 2. Autobrake: it's the button you have under the Handbrake one (it's like this: "(A)"). You can enabling it by pushing it. If it's enabled it will automatically apply the brakes when you are completely stopped and press the brakes harder. When the car is holding the brakes the "(A)" icon will appear on your cluster display and it will release the brakes when you build enough power to overcome the hill you're on (so basically the correct throttle and clutch pedal). It also works when you are not on a hill so you can avoid putting the real handbrake on. Also if the autobrake is holding the brakes and you open the door, unbuckle the driver or turn off the car, it will automatically put your handbrake on. 3. Auto Start/Stop: it's ON by default and it will turn of the engine if you're stopped, the battery is charged enough and the temperature is correct. It will also restart the engine for you if you stall it. You can disable it by pressing the "A" button on the last button on the right of the gear lever. It will automatically disable if you put your car in the Sport mode and it will be more aggressive if you are in the Eco mode (which I probably used one time only) 4. Driving modes: if you put your car in Eco mode the acceleration it's a lot smoother, it will help you to get used to your new car. It's the first button on the right of the gear lever. I usually use Sport mode when I'm entering the highway so I get the best acceleration in case I need it (and it's also funny). 5. De-fogging: if you rotate the A/C temperature to the max (and then rotate it harder to make it click) it will automatically set your A/C settings to the Windshield to quickly de-fog it. When you're finished you can re-click it and it will restore the previous A/C settings. 6. Automatic emergency call: if you pair your bluetooth device and enable the Automatic Emergency Call on the screen, in case of an accident it will connect to your phone, call the emergency services, send the coordinates (and occupants info) to them and open the line for you to speak to them. Read the manual as it's full of amazing stuff and knowing your car it's only going to help you! I freaking love this car and I'm sure you will too! If you need something else don't hesitate to contact me, have a nice day :) Aaaand sorry for my bad english :D
When you press the foot brake harder you will activate the handbrake , so you don't have to keep pulling the button everytime you want to put the handbrake on :D
Enjoyed watching your various driving videos and I'm very experienced and just never done car test but did my bike test 11 Yr ago, finally passed my test yesterday 21st March 1st time with only 7 brush up lessons and no minors at all. Thanks for the content.
I got my first car last month after passing on December and I am still terrified to park 😆 I literally refuse to drive to a place where I have to parallel park but I guess I have to suck it up and just do it 🤟🏻 Congratulations on your first car Brandon 🎉
I sort of get where you’re coming from. I mastered parallel parking straight away and was comfortable in my first car and even family members bigger cars like range rovers and Bentleys. Then one day in my moms car I couldn’t hear the sensors due to the music. I parked up and curbed the alloy and then a little girl popped out from behind the car (didn’t hit her) but the realisation that I could have easily done so shook me up and even now I get paranoid 🥲
I've watched all of them with nostalgia. It took me back to my lessons. My instructor sounded just like Pim. They must all get trained the same way. It took me a lot longer to pass than Brandon and I'm still learning, which is why I watched them in the first place. I love those dingy old industrial estates where they start off on. I couldn't find the handbrake either on my first car. An excellent series. Well done and thanks for making it.
Finally getting to watch these as part of the passed test club 🤣🤣 failed my test the same week Brandon did in autumn but now finally passed on the 2nd attempt too! Congrats Brandon, your new car looks fab 🎉
I passed my test in December and my mum got a new car so I got her Renault captur! I drove it to uni by myself this weekend and I was anxious but I feel comfortable driving alone. So long as it’s not overwhelming (: I think the main thing to remember when driving after passing is safety, just because you’ve passed doesn’t mean you can forget everything you learnt and do whatever and get lazy and dangerous like we see a lot.
ive recently started learning and i have absolutely no experience with cars and costs as no one around me has ever driven, so this is really helpful and insightful thank you :)
Loved this video, so good to see use reunited and Brandon driving his new car after passing was great to see. I would love to see use do a lesson on the motorway. Thank you for sharing ☺️
I have passed first time with 4 minors in South Yardley, Birmingham and couldn’t do it without your videos! I’ve watched Taz and Brandon’s lessons a countless times and have seen all the mock tests. Thank you Pin for all the effort you put in making those videos it’s truly appreciated!
@@mistertechnogamer0172 It was quite easy to be honest. I’ve had a very nice and polite examiner who explained how long test is going to last and that we will be following satanav. I didn’t pay any attention to him, was driving as I was on my own 😂 Plenty of mirrors checks , planning ahead and talking to myself. My manoeuvre was reverse parking on the right side of the road. I think the key is to show that you are confident driver and you know what you are doing 👍good luck on your test🤞
Brandon is authentic, handsome, intelligent and a good driver. I think he'll do well in life. Thank you for showing us your lovely new car and to Pin for the videos. It's always appreciated. You guys are like 2 peas in a pod. Drive safe!

the car reads the last speed sign it sees for the dashcam - happened during my driving test last week (which i passed!) where at a crossroad the road ahead had a sign saying 20 but i turned right which was a 30 road but no signs came up immediately. so i did 20 on a 30 and got a minor and then i told my instructor after and he explained that the car read the 20 sign and assumed 20 until it saw a 30 sign
Aww congratulations brandon ! Your car is beautiful and well deserve! I passed last july and have an 04 peugeot 206 ! I love my car for a first car but i cant wait to upgrade one day
I get wary of some new technologies being put into cars in the name of “quality of life”, but I do like how if the car does stall all you have to do is press the clutch back in to restart the motor. Definitely good for learners who stall and panic just to be able to press down again and continue on without causing a hazard or disrupt the flow of traffic. Also, Brandon seems like a top bloke, and I know I’m not the only one who would like to see him do some vlogs or youtube of whatever he wants. Whether it’s fitness videos or if he did a roadtrip in his new whip, I would definitely watch. Very nice, polite and non-judgemental, and would definitely succeed in every endeavour he takes :)
The PARK brake is only for parking on an incline. For holding the car without the brake pedal there is the BRAKE HOLD function. It's not gonna be good for the park brake motors to keep engaging and disengaging
Same here it’s called back seat driving had my license for around 7 years and she always say slow down when I’m on the right speed limit on highways 😂 🙄
It's like she's trynna give herself more time to react in case he messes up😂 Funny to see the things it does to some people when they're not in control (I don't mean that in a bad way; e.g. Pin's nervousness cuz no pedals despite being a badass driving instructor and sitting next to a safe, qualified driver)
Hey Brandon, Thoroughly enjoyed your honesty with getting to drive a new car with Pin providing expert advice and driving tips. I'm sure both your driving confidence and skills have improved since the last video and looking forward to viewing watching your driving experience on the motorway. Happy motoring.😊
I was 35 when I started my lessons but due to Scottish lockdowns, I had to wait to do my driving test. I passed my driving test in June 2021, aged 37. When I started learning, I had 2004 Honda Jazz for private practice but I bought a Hyundai i20 (same as Pin's instructor cars) in August. Having the 2004 Jazz for 2 years helped bring down my car insurance. I now have multicar insurance with my husband so saving a considerable amount. I was summoned for jury duty the week after I passed. So I had to drive on the motorway. It was a little daunting but not too bad as, on my test route, I had to drive on a 70 mph dual carriageway. When I first started driving, I found it weird not having my husband in the car giving me instructions hehe. Nothing like the freedom of having your own car. Nice car, Brandon!
I know exactly how your feeling Pin. I sat with my ex- student yesterday who also like Brandon has passed and bought her own car. I kept looking for my pedals aswel.
Just to let you know that the speed limit on the dashboard is scan by windscreen camera so whenever windscreen camera notice a new speed limit sign its appears a sign on the dashboard just to let the driver know about the speed limit. Its a extra features in some cars.
The vans I drive for work have a similar feature. I work for a major national supermarket chain and they track everything, including your speed. On the computer it tells you the speed limit of the road you’re on, and then pings you if you start speeding over (which can happen on occasion). It also sends that off to Head Office, along with any harsh breaking, fast turns, sharp acceleration to be graded on from A-F. Insurance companies should take a note tbh
I can relate to him, I bought a golf for my first car recently and I have stalled quite a few times on a hill trying to get used to the auto parking brake 😅 definitely improves with practice!
I got a 14 plate Astra (May aswell be 15 plate as it was registered late december) for £2100, 1.6 Diesel and due to the EcoFlex engine it's Tax free. Insurance for the year is about £1300 as a lump sum. It took about 2 weeks of looking at cars to find this so it's definitely doable, just have to give the cars a good check and walk away from any red flags.
I think same day I passed I pretty much disregarded all the stupid messing around looking round every second parking and that also hate driving with 2 hands on the wheel so that went straight away, it’s pretty much drive however you want once you’ve passed obviously as long as you’re safe !
My car costed 2500 and with interest around 1100 (on finance 3600 total) hyundai i20 and my insurance is around 1250 per year. Couldn't think of going for an even more expensive car until iv paid my car off. Been driving since October 2021 and had a minor issue with accidentally scratching paint off another car when forward parking in a bay.
For a new driver. I would not recommend getting a car on Finance or leasing a car because if your car breaks down. You will have to pay for the repairs when there is no car.
If someone is buying on finance they're likely to buy a more expensive car and so the chances of breakdown and need for repairs is much lower than buying a cheaper car outright with high mileage.
Look at how the tables have turned. Congrats Brandon🎉 I passed in November and I still don't have a car😞 hopefully it won't be that long till I get mines.
@@ButterflySimmer ask your previous instructor for refresher lessons if you're too nervous to drive by the time you get a car. I passed 31st Jan and got a car beginning of Feb. I have covid right now and it sucks not getting out to drive 😒
My dad is a qualified driving instructor and taught me to drive. I passed my test in January 2022 and recently got my first car. I was driving back with him and he has such a bad habit of going for the dual controls. It's weird driving your instructor dad because he gets annoyed when I ask questions and I am fully in control.
I passed the exam on a car like a brandon, and I bought the first Audi A3 2009 2.0 Turbo 140HP car. Insurance without a black box came out 900f a year I am 25 years old
This is the same car that I learn to drive in. It had hill start assist which should help a lot which can be toggled on/off with the button next to the handbrake. Once stopped press the brake further in and a symbol should come up on the dash indicating that the car is being held. Then just get the bite and you’re off.
Really nice car especially for a first car. 2 years ago after passing my test I did not get a car for a few months as I was looking around and I didn't have work at the time, then I decided to get a ford fiesta eco boost 2014. I still have the car and I still love it. I was looking for automatic cars and some cheaper ones at the time but actually paid a lot more for the one I got and it was a manual in the end. As soon as I sat in it I knew that i had found the right car. I could not test drive it as the garage would not allow it as I had only had my licence 3 months at the time but my dad drove it and said it was a really good drive. Picking it up from the service centre with it all polished and sparkly was one of the best days! I would have loved to have gone out with my instructor like that in my own car. It is great these channels I wish my instructor did a youtube channel. £400 a month for a car though is pretty insane, I wouldn't recommend that amount of expense. I hate the costs of insurance but luckily I was in a position to buy my car but I still hate expenses. Been close to selling a few times and not having a car at all
Don't worry Brandon, I was taught in a diesel car and bought my first petrol honda civic, 5 mins on driving, stalled like 3 times and 2 more later on...ah the fun sight of people swearing at me.

Ans: 100m), 2 from hesitation at junction, 1 for taking off too early, and the last fault for control while reversing (I did a 2-car length reverse and parked as close to the kerb as I could but examiner said I made him dizzy in split seconds while trying to be really close to the kerb, lol)
It's good to see Brandon we thought we never see you again after you pass the exam and congrats for your new car stay safe.

How long did you have to wait to find a test date?
@@alexgawthrop1748 This was my second attempt, my first attempt was in September so the next date that was available was half a year later 😬
@@Lutfur12345 wow that's long. But we'll done mate
@@alexgawthrop1748 Appreciate it 👍
Hey, congrats for the car, I actually have the same car (also as my first car) and I've been using it for a while!
I'm 21 and I also recently got the driving license so it's basically the same situation as yours but in Italy and 4 months later.
Here are some tips for you:
1. (A lot of cars with electronic handbrake has this feature)
It will automatically disable if you put your car in the Sport mode and it will be more aggressive if you are in the Eco mode (which I probably used one time only)
If you need something else don't hesitate to contact me, have a nice day :)
Aaaand sorry for my bad english :D
Passed my driving test yesterday! These videos helped me so much thank you !!!
From first lesson to being with the once a learner driver in their new car is amazing
When you press the foot brake harder you will activate the handbrake , so you don't have to keep pulling the button everytime you want to put the handbrake on :D
Bought my first car 18 months ago, after passing, It's a beautiful 10-year-old sunshine yellow Corsa and I'm in love with it
Yesss!! Oldish first cars are the best. Mine was only £1100 but I love it
Sameee corsa gang🥰😂 how much was the insurance
Enjoyed watching your various driving videos and I'm very experienced and just never done car test but did my bike test 11 Yr ago, finally passed my test yesterday 21st March 1st time with only 7 brush up lessons and no minors at all. Thanks for the content.
I got my first car last month after passing on December and I am still terrified to park 😆 I literally refuse to drive to a place where I have to parallel park but I guess I have to suck it up and just do it 🤟🏻 Congratulations on your first car Brandon 🎉
My first 9 months of driving and I parrel parked 0 times, will just drive till I don’t have to park parralell
Same got my car in December and I’ll only go somewhere if there’s bay parking available 😂
@@kiandavies3138 reminds me of my mum’s friend. She would drive home if she can’t find parking 😆
@@Lisac11226 one day we will park like a pro.. just need some guts and more practice 👌🏻😆
Awwww love Brandon, wishing him all the luck with his driving
Just passed my test first time and wanted to say thanks your videos helped a lot
My insurance was only 1.2k (:
I forgot everything, and flipped my car because I'm not a pussyclart
I passed my test today I really felt your videos and course help so thank you 😊 x
ive recently started learning and i have absolutely no experience with cars and costs as no one around me has ever driven, so this is really helpful and insightful thank you :)
Congratulations. What happened on the test day? I've got my test in July
My manoeuvre was reverse parking on the right side of the road. hehehehe suuuiiii

I learnt to drive in a similar ford focus, if you hard press the brake it'll automatically put the handbrake on - saves you messing with the switch!
the car reads the last speed sign it sees for the dashcam - happened during my driving test last week (which i passed!) where at a crossroad the road ahead had a sign saying 20 but i turned right which was a 30 road but no signs came up immediately. so i did 20 on a 30 and got a minor and then i told my instructor after and he explained that the car read the 20 sign and assumed 20 until it saw a 30 sign
You should get Brandon to do a mock test, would be entertaining
That would be funny 😂

When i passed in 2015 i bought (well financed) the same car as what i learnt in which was a ford fiesta 1.0 ecoboost which was great
Aww congratulations brandon ! Your car is beautiful and well deserve!
I passed last july and have an 04 peugeot 206 ! I love my car for a first car but i cant wait to upgrade one day
I’m so happy for you Brandon!! 😁 I’ve got my driving license last week and I can’t wait till I get my own car!!
5 year finance, 17k? Jeez. Paid £1400 for my Mini and I love it, glad I never financed and got stuck with massive debt like that.
Sick first car I'll tell ya that! Congrats
I just passed my test and the ultimate driving course was a huge help. Now looking to get my first car
çøñgråtülātîôñs... on your new car!!! superb video.
The PARK brake is only for parking on an incline. For holding the car without the brake pedal there is the BRAKE HOLD function. It's not gonna be good for the park brake motors to keep engaging and disengaging
10:39 I feel for this guy so much, nothing but pain and suffering
Same here it’s called back seat driving had my license for around 7 years and she always say slow down when I’m on the right speed limit on highways 😂 🙄
It's like she's trynna give herself more time to react in case he messes up😂
Funny to see the things it does to some people when they're not in control
(I don't mean that in a bad way; e.g.

That a sweet looking car. Still saving for my car after my driving test.
Would love to see Taz and Brandon together in a video !
Nice car, Brandon!
no one gives a shit
I PASSED MY TEST FIRST TIME TODAY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR LESSONS PIN!!
Congrats
I know exactly how your feeling Pin. I sat with my ex- student yesterday who also like Brandon has passed and bought her own car. I kept looking for my pedals aswel.
Just to let you know that the speed limit on the dashboard is scan by windscreen camera so whenever windscreen camera notice a new speed limit sign its appears a sign on the dashboard just to let the driver know about the speed limit. Its a extra features in some cars.
I didn't know that 😯
The vans I drive for work have a similar feature.
@@brandonkaila yeah at least you know now but the thing is don't rely on dashboard speed warning cos sometime windscreen camera miss the sign as well.
Ur videos helped me so much, passed first time today!!!!!
I can relate to him, I bought a golf for my first car recently and I have stalled quite a few times on a hill trying to get used to the auto parking brake 😅 definitely improves with practice!
Banging wheels Brand.
I can just imagine Pin in an Uber, giving the driver a lesson as they go.

Congrats brandon 🎉
Way to go 👍
I got a 14 plate Astra (May aswell be 15 plate as it was registered late december) for £2100, 1.6 Diesel and due to the EcoFlex engine it's Tax free. Insurance for the year is about £1300 as a lump sum. It took about 2 weeks of looking at cars to find this so it's definitely doable, just have to give the cars a good check and walk away from any red flags.
Ik im 2 years late but how old are you 1300 for insurance is a dream for me
@@Acryl1ic616 Was 30 at the time mate. Did have a black box for the first year too which massively reduced it.
Just passed myself in Feb and pick up my Honda Civic 1.5L sport Wednesday cannot wait :)
brruuhh, thats a very nice first car. Congrats man
I recently got my 1st car as well, definitely not even close to as nice as this one.
I got the (older) Ford Focus mk2 for my first car, love it Brandon!

What about Taz thought you were going to do a video of her and her first car? So how is she getting on with driving and what car she got then?
Congratulations, Brandon! I hope that you're enjoying your new car, keep practicing your driving abilities. All the best!
Hey Pin, what happened with Taz, love to see an update with her too.
This is the same car that I learn to drive in. It had hill start assist which should help a lot which can be toggled on/off with the button next to the handbrake. Once stopped press the brake further in and a symbol should come up on the dash indicating that the car is being held. Then just get the bite and you’re off.
Thanks for the tips 😁
Been watching this channel for awhile but respect 💯 congrats
