This video has been much better, the previous one made me dizzy :) One thing I personally like is when I can see in the mirrors, when you are reversing. I don't think people realise how little you can see from the cab and how difficult it is to gauge the distance to the back of the trailer.
360° would work well for driving maneuvers such as tight reverses or tight entrances if you could somehow attach it to the outside of the tractor unit as it would show the tightness of some things better than a gopro and you could alternate between front and back easily. But defo GoPro for the main to main when you're talking to camera and 360 for B Roll perhaps?
I'm 6'2" mate. It sucks that due to us all tall blokes needing the seat high for our long legs we can't bloody see where we're going so we have to have our legs cramped. Short people don't realise just how lucky they are
👍 for 360. I liked the more immersive feeling of being able to see more of your driving environment: forward, mirrors, to the rear. But that's when you're mobile and are talking about what is going on around you. You hit the nail on the head in this video when you said rapid pan shots are ok. BUT it's the frequency of them that is dizzying. A glance from the front view to the mirrors works really well, but only if you dwell on each view long enough for us to have a decent gander. In your first attempt I felt like I needed to pause the video in order to take in what we're trying to see. I encourage your attempts to innovate and improve. Keep it up!
Luke you can’t get your driving time right all the time and I think from watching you that you are very good at timings but you are not a mind reader so keep up the good work work Luke
Happened to me last week with the regular 4.5 hour drive time, traffic was way worse than i expected and my 53 minutes dropped to 0, had it been the normal expected traffic i would have parked up with 20 ish minutes left.
Knew exactly where you were start of the video, today was my last day of being a van delivery driver in and around Wrexham. I now have my first class 1 job. Cu on the road
I didn’t like the spinning of the 360, made me dizzy, cuts were much better. What I liked about it was when you used it to show different angles such as sideways looks at roundabouts etc. I’d say use gopro for majority of the time, but use 360 when needed for a good shot that can’t be achieved by the gopro. Keep up the good work 💪
Luke , as well as used to drive baby trucks , I'm a former police officer from GMP , about 12 years ago , whilst driving trucks I came across one of my former motorway traffic colleagues at Heywood Industrial Park who'd just escorted a Romanian driver in his class 1 into the industrial park because it was secure and he couldn't leave , the reason for the drivers ' detention ' was that he had not taken or logged a single break in 4 and a half DAYS , he had driven from eastern Europe to Manchester UK and his tacho did not show a break ( although he must have had one on the ferry ) and he was heading to Scotland apparently , over here he'd driven from Dover to where he was stopped without logging a break even when refueling , I asked my ex colleague ' how much is it going to cost him ? , the reply was ' his house ' , apparently his driving hours was in excess of 85 hours I was told , he was to stay at Heywood for 2 and a half days minimum and would only be released when my ex colleague returned to let him continue , I've no idea what happened to the guy but I guess the owner of the truck would not be impressed as he would also be fined.
maybe you could use 360 on a chest /head mount when your in tight areas such as entrances/exits to drops so we can get a sense of what you can and cant see when manouvering never know maybe some people watching may give us truck driver more room and be more patient if they can see the difficulty and in certain circumstances how little we can see in the mirrors
As you well know luke you will never please everyone but you should definitely keep fettling with it as it wasn't all bad,I particularly commented that it was spinning to fast and when it zoomed in it was poor quality but if those 2 were better for me it would make it perfection but keep at it👍
I’m well aware. My family been driving since the 30’s 😂 told my grandad once that I worked 3 15hr shifts in a row, he replied back I’d have done that in 2 🤷♂️😂
Should not spin round all that rubber on the road naughty naughty @!!!@ a part from that on over hang did you put marker boards stay safe and sound enjoy your. Evening
No Mark was needed because less than one meter over. All the regulations say that he needs to be clearly visible. and I was driving in daylight so if you can’t see it, you’re blind 😂
if you could i would try a gopro 11 or 12 and strap it to the front of the truck to give viewers different prospective instead of dash can in windscreen.
Ref the stereo control I drive a volvo fh and that's exactly the same it just stops working on stereo and steering control till I stop and reset the system 🙈
i really like the 360 camera. But the issue is the camera quality looks like a early 2000s camera i used to have when i was young. idk if its the settings you use or the product itself but quality wise is awful but the concept is rlly good
Too many people moan that watch YT videos be happy that people are producing content for you to watch for free if you wish 🤣🤣 chill out people with the complaints about minor things.
If the 360 camera is moving about, I can't watch your videos due to the constant motion giving me vertigo. If they were steady shots, that slowly rotated it would be better. Otherwise, love the videos.
That video was much better but you still change view toooo quickly. When you turn the camera to the front view you could leave it there for a while instead of 3 seconds of front view and then 30 seconds with the camera facing you. I would rather see the area which you are driving through and we don't need to see you talking because we can hear your voice but much better than the 360.
A Trunking run is a good place to start I think, other than that take your time, nice & slow round roundabouts & when maneuvering, keep checking those mirrors. Don't be afraid to get out & look, you will soon get to know by getting out how the trailer is positioned on the blind side where the tail swing is etc. Most firms will send you out with another driver to start with too.
Just started watching Luke. What makes me really giggle (just to clarify, I'm a female, even my name is Thomas Garwell, my hubby passed away a few years ago, and I keep his name as a memory), is when people say about fish-eye regarding cameras. How does anyone know what a fish sees through its eyes)🤣. Obviously, you know better than I ever will, but when heading south from Manchester, I always take the M6/M42/M40. Have never driven on the M1 for many years because its always so busy
Re: The 360, Towards the start, There was an obstinate van driver who was illegally parked but refused to move far enough forward for you to turn left. The 360 perfectly illustrated all of your thoughts during that situation 👍. The rest of the 360 footage made feel queasy, sorry 😊.
@@lukecinahgv It's unlikely to land you a fine (at least atm), but something to be aware of in the future... many people get that wrong, and places are starting to get a little more stricter with them... It is in the highway code, if you want to check-up on the exact details etc :)
360 is hardly a new thing at this stage. The problem was your settings and your inner man child that has to use any gimmick available. There's absolutely no reason you can't use the 360 with the current format of video. You don't need the constant "flex" of I've got a 360 camera with those horrendous spinning transfers. Once you get over your initial "I want it all" the camera will add to the channel.
I didn’t use polish so I’m not a wheel polisher.Wheel cleaner? Yes. Absolutely nothing wrong with giving it a quick wipe over. The truck is a moving advertising board. It's actually good practice to go over by one minute on your breaks.
I've made a mistake of pulling away on 15 minutes and the break didn't register.
Standard practise for me.
2 mins over the required break for my drivers…..

Axel Up when no weight saves tire wear and fuel , down when a certain amount of on and spreads the total weight , something like that
