    You are like the the only person on the internet sane enough to practice first and attach the gimbal second. Congratulations! Let me watch some youtube crashes and flyaways next ;)

    • @Travizeo
      @Travizeo  11 років тому

      Hahaha! Thanks GG7clips. Yip I wasn't quite sure why people would be sticking an extra £700 onto a phantom before they had even tried flying it yet :D I still see so many people getting flyaways because of having the gorpo wifi on. Looks like reading the manual just isn't an option anymore :) Love your channel too.

      No worries, thanks for watching Harry Kong. Im not 100% sure on this, but I think it might work in Phantom mode. I only figured it out after switching on NazaM mode. Give it a try and if it doesn't work, then you most probably will need to switch to NazaM mode with the DJI assistant software. Just remember, you need to have the stick exactly in the middle.

    Nice flying. I just got my phantom 2 and should I do any upgrades or leave it alone unless I notice a problem. I'm also going to wait before installing my Zemnuse until I practice. Also when you put the Phantom in HL will the sticks as you demonstrated pulling back will always come back no matter how the Phantom 2 is facing but what about moving the sticks to the left ? Will the P2 go left and if moving the stick right will it go right even though the P2 is facing the opposite way ? Thanks

    • @Travizeo
      @Travizeo  11 років тому

      Thanks Lenny7118. Yip, it's best to leave the P2 as stock standard when you get it. Once you feel more comfortable and are able to fly further confidently, then you can look into switching to NazaM mode. That'c 100% correct, in HL left is left, right is right no matter which way the P2 is facing.

    so cool, can't wait to get one of these, should I start with a smaller copter to learn on, I have never flown one but am really interested in getting one of these and eventually attaching my go pro to it

    • @Travizeo
      @Travizeo  10 років тому

      That would certainly be a good idea Trevor Whiting. It only takes about a week to get your brain tuned into 4 channel flying, so sharpening up your muscle memory for that before your fly a phantom will certainly help, and if you crash with a smaller craft, the damage and cost will certainly be much less.

      Thx Tony Marchant. I didn't know that about the 1st and 2nd flashes! That's really good to know :D To be honest chriscox303. Nothing really changes, you just get a few more functions. GPS and Atti still fly the same, I feel more secure knowing that I have home lock available for when I cant see which way the P2 is facing. Just don't switch the bottom right lever to manual!! Rather set it to failsafe (go home and land).

  • @Lenny7118
    @Lenny7118 11 років тому +1

    What is the difference between Naza mode and Phantom 2 mode ? Forgot to ask in my other comment.

    • @Travizeo
      @Travizeo  11 років тому

      There may be a few more I don't know of, but these are the one's I found: In P2 Mode you only have GPS & ATTI functions, In NazaM you have GPS, ATTI, Failsafe/Manual, CL and HL. You also have a different set of LED sequences. But I would recommend sticking to P2 mode for now, until you feel a bit more confident.

    Nice video. Thanks for the tip about the viper, just ordered one. I have everything else, phantom wise, on order. Can you tell me why you didn't do a compass calibration before you took off ?

    • @Travizeo
      @Travizeo  10 років тому

      Thanks for watching Jon Russell, and for the sub ;) I didn't do the compass dance that day as I had flown their previously, and my flight the day before was not far from there. Generally you only need to calibrate if you are flying a very different location, and you notice visible drifting, but it is a good idea to calibrate before flights anyway. Good luck with your Phantom, send us some links to your flights when the videos are up. cheers

  • @Drmerlin604
    @Drmerlin604 10 років тому +1

    Fantastic to see your enthusiasm. However, people who watch this video need to know that your technique risks a flyaway... You should ALWAYS calibrate the compass before you fly. Another tip is that once you have switched on, calibrated and seem ready to go, pick up the phantom and walk around about 20 metres from your homeport. This ensures that the GPS is locked to where it should be. Have you ever turned on your car GPS and, at first, it shows your location some way away? When you start moving your position 'jumps' to where you actually are. This could happen on the phantom. In other words, you want to make sure that the home point really is set correctly.

      Awesome Tony Hobbs Thanks for watching :) Have you ordered the new P2 with H3-3D? Might have to wait a few weeks for stock.

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs 10 років тому

      Yes I have. Quadcopters UK :-)
      I started wanting a phantom maybe Jan, so looked at videos, wanted the 2D gimbal and iosd but a part was out of stock (I need it all fitted for me lol I'm not technical minded). It came in stock same time the 3D gimbal was revealed lol. So I put my wallet on that. Ops ;-)
      So a few more weeks OK.
      I want to take it camping in the summer to Dartmoor. Initially. Just a toy lol :-)

    • @Travizeo
      @Travizeo  10 років тому

      Tony Hobbs Thats great! If you can wait, I would rather wait for the new H3-3D. It's a lot more stable and I'm hoping that in the new P2 and gimbal combo's they have also secretly fixed the fly away problems ;) Yeah ThatHPI GUY Richard is super helpful! And he is very techy with this stuff too, so im sure they can do a much better job of putting it together as well!! Send us a link when you finally get up and flying. Cheers

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs 10 років тому

      Yip! Whilst I'm paying full whack I owe Rich for his patience lol;)
      I too hope it won't fly away. But it might see me and take flight lol!!!
      Rich is setting it all up and software etc.
      I'm hoping he'll set it for one handed use I've seen folks turning blades off with one stick.
      I know absolutely nothing about this stuff so it'll be very basic for awhile. It just looks great fun and will add an extra element to my videos.

    • @Travizeo
      @Travizeo  10 років тому

      Tony Hobbs Yes Fly Away's are very scary!! I might be mistaken, hopefully ThatHPI GUY guy can verify this, but I think the one handed shutdown only works if you have switched the P2 from Phantom mode to NazaM mode in the assistant software. I would recommend not doing that just yet. rather get a few flights under your belt and when you feel comfortable, then give it a go. It's really easy to do it yourself and all it does is give you the course/home lock functions on the left side levers and the failsafe function on the right side lever. Best to set the failsafe to go home then land, instead of just land. It looks like you visit some great places on your channel. Looking forward to seeing your videos once you are up and flying!

  • @LaurieBenjamin
    @LaurieBenjamin 10 років тому +2

    Ok video.
    Some advice :
    Your antenna should not be straight out cause the top is always the weakest signal point.
    In this video you did get the satellites correct but you did not wait for the rapid flashing to register the return home feature. If you lost signal it would of been bye bye.
    FYI : take no offense.

    • @Travizeo
      @Travizeo  10 років тому

      No offence taken at all Laurie Benjamin. This was literally a few weeks after getting the Phantom, so we still had a lot to learn :) and that is half the fun right?

    • @Travizeo
      @Travizeo  10 років тому

      Oh, and i did get the rapid green flash at 7:48 (had to re-watch it myself :)

    • @Sainjl
      @Sainjl 10 років тому

      Hi Laurie and Travizeo,
      I just got my Phantom 2 and want to fly it tomorrow but I am super scared. First, do I have to download firmware before my first flight? I don't have an fpv system and I only have one battery so far. I have a smaller quad that I only fly indoors. The first time I took it outside, it freaked me out. I was afraid I was going to hit someone. Tomorrow I want to practice with both. I am not afraid for the smaller Quad but I am concerned about flying too high or crashing the Phantom. I am going upstate next week, would I have to re-calibrate when I get there?

    • @LaurieBenjamin
      @LaurieBenjamin 10 років тому +1

      You should calibrate after ever upgrade. I personally believe that you should keep your phantom 2 at the latest firmware at all times especially this 3.06.
      As a beginner you should go into an open space and make sure u have gps mode on after your home position is locked.
      When taking off don't be afraid, just pump that baby off the floor. If your try to do it slowly you just might get a tip over from the ground effect.
      All the best !

    • @Sainjl
      @Sainjl 10 років тому

      Laurie Benjamin Hi Laurie! Thanks for responding. I will get the latest firmware soon but I did fly it today and it was awesome. I didn't go far because I don't have an fpv system and I only have one battery but it was great. I am really glad I bought the phantom.
      One more question, so the antenna should be bended?

      MontiR Aruba Where do you live? If you are able to order from the UK then I can suggest www.heliguy.com. Ive had great service from them so far. Always happy to chat on the phone and offer any advice I need. Your best bet is to go for the latest Phantom 2 with Zenumse H3-3D. Do you have a Gopro 3 or 3+? Either of those will work with the zenmuse. Good luck and send us some links once you have shot your first aerial video :D

    The vid is brilliant.....The Music?????? S'#t.....Why do people always put crap music with there good vids mood music all well and good in it,s right place.....but i,m here to watch a quadcopter vid....i don,t wanna dance or tap my feet or knod my head....i want to absorb what i,m watching,,,which in this case is good....and thats not easy with this infernal modern crappy music???????. call me old fashioned but what has happened to music and song anyway?......Sorry mate but i do find it really frustrating trying to watch a thing of intrest only to have my senses drowned out by some infernal Din....save it for a music channel

      Hahaha! You have me in stitches here brianfindsall :) You kinda do sound old fashioned, but I totally know what you mean. That kind of stuff used to annoy me too. Being in editing I kind of had to get over it due to the stock music that's available. tbh, i'd put some soft zeppelin in the background if I could, but there just really is no good stock music like that. I think EDM stock music has developed a lot more than any of the other genres lately. But massive thanks for the tip and comment. I really do appreciate you guys letting me know what you like and don't like about our videos. Ill keep this in mind for the next one. Cheers

      Lol, Yea guess i am a bit of an old fart, lol. I love all kinds of music, yea mainly older stuff granted 50s 60s 70s 80s and 90s...But There are a good smattering of modern stuff too. But my grind is, is that i like to keep my learning and listening seperate from my music time, Which i do have, yes i may be an old fart but i have approx 2,000 songs on my tablet which i play quite often through my bluetooth speakers,,,,yea bluetooth.....not windup grammerphone,lol....Anyway i really like your vids, there are some real good educational and intresting stuff. so please don,t be offendedd by my rant, it,s just that it kinda spoils my watching listening and absorbing experience.....Keep em coming.....Oh I just had me first real flying day today with my new phantom.....i ran four batts down and really enjoyed it. wow i love these drone thingymabob,s cool.....I will survive.......er lol. I mean i will subscribe....regards Bri
