You are like the the only person on the internet sane enough to practice first and attach the gimbal second. Congratulations! Let me watch some youtube crashes and flyaways next ;)
Hahaha! Thanks GG7clips. Yip I wasn't quite sure why people would be sticking an extra £700 onto a phantom before they had even tried flying it yet :D I still see so many people getting flyaways because of having the gorpo wifi on. Looks like reading the manual just isn't an option anymore :) Love your channel too.
Very Helpful Video I myself have the same model and work at a hobby shop here in the us and was having trouble figuring out the naza m mode functions lights and benefits of it
No worries, thanks for watching Harry Kong. Im not 100% sure on this, but I think it might work in Phantom mode. I only figured it out after switching on NazaM mode. Give it a try and if it doesn't work, then you most probably will need to switch to NazaM mode with the DJI assistant software. Just remember, you need to have the stick exactly in the middle.
That's awesome Lost & Found Travel We've just pulled the trigger on the inspire 1. I may have some extra's and spares for you, drop us an email sometime.
Absolutely loving it L BS!! Especially now, with our Futaba T8J and Lightbridge system with FPV on a google nexus. It makes such a difference when you can see what you are filming. Just did some awesome flights over herds of elephants in South Africa, so please do Subscribe and stay tuned for the next few videos - ua-cam.com/users/travizeo
Nice flying. I just got my phantom 2 and should I do any upgrades or leave it alone unless I notice a problem. I'm also going to wait before installing my Zemnuse until I practice. Also when you put the Phantom in HL will the sticks as you demonstrated pulling back will always come back no matter how the Phantom 2 is facing but what about moving the sticks to the left ? Will the P2 go left and if moving the stick right will it go right even though the P2 is facing the opposite way ? Thanks
Thanks Lenny7118. Yip, it's best to leave the P2 as stock standard when you get it. Once you feel more comfortable and are able to fly further confidently, then you can look into switching to NazaM mode. That'c 100% correct, in HL left is left, right is right no matter which way the P2 is facing.
Great video ! Amazing how well the H3 3D works. Just shot a video in Wales of an old abandoned lead mine with really great results using the phantom 2 Aerial Video
so cool, can't wait to get one of these, should I start with a smaller copter to learn on, I have never flown one but am really interested in getting one of these and eventually attaching my go pro to it
That would certainly be a good idea Trevor Whiting. It only takes about a week to get your brain tuned into 4 channel flying, so sharpening up your muscle memory for that before your fly a phantom will certainly help, and if you crash with a smaller craft, the damage and cost will certainly be much less.
Thanks for watching CAFECABRONES, glad you find it useful :) Don't forget to subscribe if you want me to make more of these - ua-cam.com/users/travizeo
This was quite a while ago Talon276, Im sure the newer models and stock should be ok by now. Good luck and please do send us some links when your first video is up. Thanks for watching :)
Very good tutorial! I've chosen the phantom 2 with gimbal... been flying the first times a few weeks ago... And knowing what to do really helps things along! This is the result: First Flight DJI phantom 2 - with Zenmuse H3-2D gimbal & Gopro Hero 3+ Edit It's just a blast to film and fly this thing!
Thanks Tom Janssen Checked out your video, nice work! Great edit. It really is loads of fun right. We just flew with Lightbridge out in South Africa over the wildlife. Should be some good videos coming up :)
Thx Tony Marchant. I didn't know that about the 1st and 2nd flashes! That's really good to know :D To be honest chriscox303. Nothing really changes, you just get a few more functions. GPS and Atti still fly the same, I feel more secure knowing that I have home lock available for when I cant see which way the P2 is facing. Just don't switch the bottom right lever to manual!! Rather set it to failsafe (go home and land).
There may be a few more I don't know of, but these are the one's I found: In P2 Mode you only have GPS & ATTI functions, In NazaM you have GPS, ATTI, Failsafe/Manual, CL and HL. You also have a different set of LED sequences. But I would recommend sticking to P2 mode for now, until you feel a bit more confident.
Thanks for the awesome comment Paul Bissett :) So glad you found it useful. Ive just got some new gear so will hopefully be doing lots more tutorials soon. Please subscribe if you would like to see more - bit.ly/1e6VOZM
Nice video. Thanks for the tip about the viper, just ordered one. I have everything else, phantom wise, on order. Can you tell me why you didn't do a compass calibration before you took off ?
Thanks for watching Jon Russell, and for the sub ;) I didn't do the compass dance that day as I had flown their previously, and my flight the day before was not far from there. Generally you only need to calibrate if you are flying a very different location, and you notice visible drifting, but it is a good idea to calibrate before flights anyway. Good luck with your Phantom, send us some links to your flights when the videos are up. cheers
Jon Russell the new P2 with H3-3D comes with an interference board, hopefully that should sort out all these fly-aways or as we like to call them "the Go-Home... to china" :)
Very nice video thats looks a lot better than my blade 350qx. Im planning of going for one of these soon. I like the fact that it flys in gps front and back trouble is with the blade that confuses me is in gps mode there is no front. Anyway great video
Travizeo Thanks mate! I think your clip has persuaded me to purchase. I was a bit reluctant on how well this thing would fly in the wind and the quality of the GoPro but you have me sold! Keep them coming.
Thanks so much Alex Wise. Cant wait to see what you come up with. For stills the phantom vision is now offering RAW :) But the video is not that great! Also recently saw this amazing DIY fix for the GoPro. Im a little scared to try it, but the results look awesome - ua-cam.com/video/SnLdpSRMsEs/v-deo.html
Someone help! Whenever my drone is ready to fly after I did all that stuff, when I push down both triggers to the middle, it flashes red once, then goes back to flashing green, not starting! Somebody help me!
Fantastic to see your enthusiasm. However, people who watch this video need to know that your technique risks a flyaway... You should ALWAYS calibrate the compass before you fly. Another tip is that once you have switched on, calibrated and seem ready to go, pick up the phantom and walk around about 20 metres from your homeport. This ensures that the GPS is locked to where it should be. Have you ever turned on your car GPS and, at first, it shows your location some way away? When you start moving your position 'jumps' to where you actually are. This could happen on the phantom. In other words, you want to make sure that the home point really is set correctly.
Thanks for watching 08Budweiser Unfortunately all I had to practice in was this tiny park. Wouldn't really even call it a park. More like a patch of grass surrounded by devil trees! But I'm making lemonade man!!... making lemonade!
Yes I have. Quadcopters UK :-) I started wanting a phantom maybe Jan, so looked at videos, wanted the 2D gimbal and iosd but a part was out of stock (I need it all fitted for me lol I'm not technical minded). It came in stock same time the 3D gimbal was revealed lol. So I put my wallet on that. Ops ;-) So a few more weeks OK. I want to take it camping in the summer to Dartmoor. Initially. Just a toy lol :-)
Tony Hobbs Thats great! If you can wait, I would rather wait for the new H3-3D. It's a lot more stable and I'm hoping that in the new P2 and gimbal combo's they have also secretly fixed the fly away problems ;) Yeah ThatHPI GUY Richard is super helpful! And he is very techy with this stuff too, so im sure they can do a much better job of putting it together as well!! Send us a link when you finally get up and flying. Cheers
Yip! Whilst I'm paying full whack I owe Rich for his patience lol;) I too hope it won't fly away. But it might see me and take flight lol!!! Rich is setting it all up and software etc. I'm hoping he'll set it for one handed use I've seen folks turning blades off with one stick. I know absolutely nothing about this stuff so it'll be very basic for awhile. It just looks great fun and will add an extra element to my videos.
Tony Hobbs Yes Fly Away's are very scary!! I might be mistaken, hopefully ThatHPI GUY guy can verify this, but I think the one handed shutdown only works if you have switched the P2 from Phantom mode to NazaM mode in the assistant software. I would recommend not doing that just yet. rather get a few flights under your belt and when you feel comfortable, then give it a go. It's really easy to do it yourself and all it does is give you the course/home lock functions on the left side levers and the failsafe function on the right side lever. Best to set the failsafe to go home then land, instead of just land. It looks like you visit some great places on your channel. Looking forward to seeing your videos once you are up and flying!
Ok video. Some advice : Your antenna should not be straight out cause the top is always the weakest signal point. In this video you did get the satellites correct but you did not wait for the rapid flashing to register the return home feature. If you lost signal it would of been bye bye. FYI : take no offense.
No offence taken at all Laurie Benjamin. This was literally a few weeks after getting the Phantom, so we still had a lot to learn :) and that is half the fun right?
Hi Laurie and Travizeo, I just got my Phantom 2 and want to fly it tomorrow but I am super scared. First, do I have to download firmware before my first flight? I don't have an fpv system and I only have one battery so far. I have a smaller quad that I only fly indoors. The first time I took it outside, it freaked me out. I was afraid I was going to hit someone. Tomorrow I want to practice with both. I am not afraid for the smaller Quad but I am concerned about flying too high or crashing the Phantom. I am going upstate next week, would I have to re-calibrate when I get there?
You should calibrate after ever upgrade. I personally believe that you should keep your phantom 2 at the latest firmware at all times especially this 3.06. As a beginner you should go into an open space and make sure u have gps mode on after your home position is locked. When taking off don't be afraid, just pump that baby off the floor. If your try to do it slowly you just might get a tip over from the ground effect. All the best !
Laurie Benjamin Hi Laurie! Thanks for responding. I will get the latest firmware soon but I did fly it today and it was awesome. I didn't go far because I don't have an fpv system and I only have one battery but it was great. I am really glad I bought the phantom. One more question, so the antenna should be bended?
Cheers Thanks buddy! We are massive fans of your channel ThatHPI GUY!! Lets chat soon about getting you down to Brighton for a fun fly day in summer :)
Unfortunately not Nick Walters, I've only flown with the Phantom 2 so far, but the FC40 seems to be quite similar in basic setup. It's quite nice that you get FPV right out the box with a smart phone. Reply with any specific questions and ill try my best to find out for you with our suppliers at @heliguydotcom
Haha, stoked to hear that Invincible Don1. Ive actually started feeling more confident lately in landing the P2 on it's own now, but catch landings are, for me at least, always a sure fire way of getting the bird down in one piece :)
I've learned how to land however catch landing is still the best in my opinion lol. It just looks awesome and everyone goes crazy when it's done. Just plain cool 😏 also I fly a lot at the beach so landing on sand is a nono lol
Hi abdulla janahi. I think this music came from The Audio Network. Sorry, cant remember which song off the top of my head, but i can search for it when i get back form my travels. Let me know if you want me to look. cheers
At the time of making this video, I wasn't a big fan of prop-guards MontiR Aruba Now that I know how much they could have helped, I don't need them anymore. Such is life :) Thanks for watching.
Travizeo, the travel video company I want to look into getting my own but don't know where to start first. I have the GoPro camera already. Any tips or suggestions to where I can get a good deal and have good technical support?
MontiR Aruba Where do you live? If you are able to order from the UK then I can suggest www.heliguy.com. Ive had great service from them so far. Always happy to chat on the phone and offer any advice I need. Your best bet is to go for the latest Phantom 2 with Zenumse H3-3D. Do you have a Gopro 3 or 3+? Either of those will work with the zenmuse. Good luck and send us some links once you have shot your first aerial video :D
you are awesomeeeeee!!!! thanks for the video, My God , finally somone who can actually said something understandable...5 thumbs upppp Thanks a milliom....God will reward you,,, you will see
Thanks for your honest comment Peter Evans, ill be sure to keep only the relevant stuff in the next one. Don't forget to Sub :) ua-cam.com/users/travizeo
The vid is brilliant.....The Music?????? S'#t.....Why do people always put crap music with there good vids mood music all well and good in it,s right place.....but i,m here to watch a quadcopter vid....i don,t wanna dance or tap my feet or knod my head....i want to absorb what i,m watching,,,which in this case is good....and thats not easy with this infernal modern crappy music???????. call me old fashioned but what has happened to music and song anyway?......Sorry mate but i do find it really frustrating trying to watch a thing of intrest only to have my senses drowned out by some infernal Din....save it for a music channel
Hahaha! You have me in stitches here brianfindsall :) You kinda do sound old fashioned, but I totally know what you mean. That kind of stuff used to annoy me too. Being in editing I kind of had to get over it due to the stock music that's available. tbh, i'd put some soft zeppelin in the background if I could, but there just really is no good stock music like that. I think EDM stock music has developed a lot more than any of the other genres lately. But massive thanks for the tip and comment. I really do appreciate you guys letting me know what you like and don't like about our videos. Ill keep this in mind for the next one. Cheers
Lol, Yea guess i am a bit of an old fart, lol. I love all kinds of music, yea mainly older stuff granted 50s 60s 70s 80s and 90s...But There are a good smattering of modern stuff too. But my grind is, is that i like to keep my learning and listening seperate from my music time, Which i do have, yes i may be an old fart but i have approx 2,000 songs on my tablet which i play quite often through my bluetooth speakers,,,,yea bluetooth.....not windup grammerphone,lol....Anyway i really like your vids, there are some real good educational and intresting stuff. so please don,t be offendedd by my rant, it,s just that it kinda spoils my watching listening and absorbing experience.....Keep em coming.....Oh I just had me first real flying day today with my new phantom.....i ran four batts down and really enjoyed it. wow i love these drone thingymabob,s cool.....I will survive.......er lol. I mean i will subscribe....regards Bri

Thanks TheLEVEL101. Really glad you found it useful. Thanks for stopping by :)
Nice video mate! You were the last video I watched and the push I needed before I purchased my own Phantom. Cheers!
That's great Thanks Dexter Allen! So hows it going with the new Phantom?
How do you get it to be 1 stick shutdown? Thanks for the video lesson
No worries, thanks for watching Harry Kong. Im not 100% sure on this, but I think it might work in Phantom mode. I only figured it out after switching on NazaM mode. Thanks Lost & Found Travel. Looking forward to flying in some new locations this year. Will be sure to post stacks of videos :)

how you liking the phantom so far?

Thanks kw34ok, that vid is great! Love the near miss at 0:08, pretty hairy, but nice flying! Thanks for the sub too :)
Travizeo, the travel video company Thanks for the comment - yes, the heart was beating when I had the near miss....... ! Greetings from Wales :-)
nice video . would be nice if you make another one using the remote control with more specification. thanks.

Great demonstration thank you!. I am literally rolling on the ground waiting for the shipment to arrive.

A really nice and usefull video thanx for uploading this
Thanks abdulla janahi. So glad you found it useful.
Good stuff! Thanks so much.
Have you downloaded and used the Phantom Assistant software for Mac?
Yes I have @PeterCarroll it works great. Thanks for watching ;)
Was the reason for the hold up in Japan because you had pre-ordered the Phantom with the Zenmuse?! Hoping mine will make it before the 23rd of June!
This is the result:
First Flight DJI phantom 2 - with Zenmuse H3-2D gimbal & Gopro Hero 3+ Edit

Travizeo, the travel video company Thanks! I'm looking forward to it! should be some awesome vids!
I've still not played with the Naza flight mode. Will have to try soon in an open place. Nice tutorial
The 1st set of green flashing lights are so it knows forward second green flashing is so it knows its home😀 never heard of naza mode phantom mode?
You can change it between modes from within the DJI Phantom 2 Assistant Software. Click the Phantom button at top right of screen
Will have look tom?
Thx Tony Marchant. I didn't know that about the 1st and 2nd flashes! That's really good to know :D To be honest chriscox303. Nothing really changes, you just get a few more functions. GPS and Atti still fly the same, I feel more secure knowing that I have home lock available for when I cant see which way the P2 is facing. Just don't switch the bottom right lever to manual!! Rather set it to failsafe (go home and land).
What is the difference between Naza mode and Phantom 2 mode ? Forgot to ask in my other comment.
Prop guards are a life saver for the Phantoms.
True, true! If only I knew that back when I started :)
great video!

I can`t wait to get mine! Nice video bro, It helps a lot! Greetings from Mexico
Gracias David! Glad it helped you out. Good luck with your first few flights. Just take it slow and you should be fine :)
What about CL, what does that do?
How the hell did you break that many props. It is really easy to fly. I'm no pro but many flights on the same props.

Hi Laurie and Travizeo,
I just got my Phantom 2 and want to fly it tomorrow but I am super scared. First, do I have to download firmware before my first flight? I don't have an fpv system and I only have one battery so far. I have a smaller quad that I only fly indoors. The first time I took it outside, it freaked me out. I was afraid I was going to hit someone. Tomorrow I want to practice with both.
Holy balls I want that thing. Would've wanted to see it return to home and land automatically.
Yip, that is one of the features Jourei Mahtavankätyri. Maybe I'll try and add that to the next video. Thanks for watching :)
dude why don't you buy prop guards, they work perfectly and add a lot of protection
Tbh Eric Fling by the time I realised I needed prop guards... I didn't need them anymore. If that makes sense? :) Thanks for watching.

Thumbs up for the video overall but, to be honest, the stuff on Brighton beach really didn't contribute anything for me.

Hahaha! You've got a great sense of humor mate. I'll definitely keep that in mind for the next video. Thanks again for the sub and happy flying! ;)
