I started with the Vision and upgraded to the Plus. I've been flying and watching videos for over a year now and this is the clearest and most comprehensive video yet! I already knew 99% of the instructions, but the video was so clear and concise I truly enjoyed watching every minute. I'm going to subscribe and hope you have more on the ground station, HOC, LOC and their use. Keep up the good work!
This is by far, the best video I watched about flying a drone. The pace of your voice, the timing of indications. We can really see the effort you put in making this video. Really, thank you for that! :)
ReviewLamp.com I agree. Most other reviews consist of some rapidly-fast speaking American (LOL) not mentioning all the important stuff. Keep up the good work
Best review and tutorial I've watched so far. All the important info without the useless waffling! Well done, I wish there were more reviewers like you.
An excellent review. Invaluable for a new owner. Thank you also for speaking clearly and concisely without the need to use superfluous chatter. Well done.
Great video. I hope you do more on DJI. I just ordered my 1st unit and will review your video once more. Look forward to more informative videos. Thanks again
Thank you for this excellent video. I still have my Phantom Vision 2 Plus, though I haven't flown it for a few years. Do you know if any of the phone apps still work for it? Can I still get a live feed on my mobile etc?
The vision app works still somewhat. You most likely wont get live feed if its been sitting though. You'd have to get the wifi board fixed theres a guy on ebay that does it for $80
Great review. was considering upgrading from an ar drone. So the props wont cut out if it hits something? Sounds a bit intimidating. thanks for the safety tips.
Yeah the prop guards are useful. But what we've found in our testing, is that you'll most likely never need them. Thanks to its Gps and barometer, the craft is very stable and thus you're less likely to completely lose control. Additionally, an accident with the Phantom can be a pretty expensive repair job. We'd advise you get plenty of practice on a smaller craft like the blade nano qx before moving to this.
ReviewLamp.com originally was going to upgarde from ar 2.0 drone to bebop cause the extended range , better camera and electronic gimable effect and skycontoller to tactile control. But I have been reading too many bad reviews. From just how it is cheaply made to issues with bugs etc. Hence the look into phantom 2 vision plus. I see your point regarding the gimble/camera part being around $600. bebop s camera was only $160 , of coarse no physical gimble to deal with. Not really sure which is the best way to go. finding these at the same price. any advice?
Subscribed!! This is such a great informative video just what I was looking for. I have never used a phantom and I just bought one used. This video will help me a lot ! I'm actually going to use it for fishing to put fishing line far in the lake. Any suggestions ?
+Robert Balderas Thanks! Well, I would say practice over solid ground before you take it fishing. And wherever you fly, monitor your battery charge level using the app. Make sure you have enough power to bring it back safely. I wouldn't recommend going below 40%, especially when flying over water.
coolkidirish Irish Furthest range? Do you mean the furthest range the aircraft can fly via ground station? In the US, that is restricted by FAA airspace classes. It all depends on where you are flying. Here is some specific information from Dji's own website: www.dji.com/fly-safe
Okay, so I watched your video. I have a question. I have the Phantom 2 Vision+. I saw on one video that you use a cable to connect the extender to your cell phone. What cable do I use to do that. Also, does the extender have software that needs to be updates or no? I like your videos. I am a newbie so this is very helpful. thanks
Well done compared to other tutorials on the Phantom V2 and good advise on pad and case. Maybe you can do a tutorial on uploading the newest firmware from the DJI website and how and when to download it to the aircraft and transmitter. Others I've seen aren't that clear and haven't seen anything on getting the firmware and opening it. Thanks, keep the good work up.
I noticed that you said the footage from the DJI Phantom 2 + is not as good as the footage of the GoPro 3+. If I was about to buy the DJI Phantom 2 and already own a GoPro 3+ should I purchase the DJI Phantom 2 with the 3axis gimble and use my Gopro or should I get the Phanton 2+?
Depends on what is more important to you. If you are willing to work with a less integrated system that produces better quality footage, go with the phantom 2, gimbal and gopro 3. If you're looking for a fully integrated package, with on-screen data display, a live video feed to your phone etc but with slightly lower video quality, go with the Phantom 2 vision plus. Hope that answers your question?
Yes, that answers my question. I think the integrated system is more important to me. I see they have a DJI Phantom 2 vision plus V3 that has a control wheel on the transmitter that control the angle of the camera, also takes rechargable batteries with condition light meter next to power switch.
Rick Ousman Yes indeed, the integrated system does help a great deal. And the changes in V3 make it even better. Please subscribe to stay tuned for more reviews.
Tony Gude Thanks! Glad it helped. Its not necessary that the nose points down. Its more important that the aircraft is put through a full circle of rotation, during the calibration of the compass.
Tycho55123 It is included out of the box with the Phantom 2 Vision and Vision Plus. On the base, Phantom 2, you can add this by adding the 2.4G Bluetooth datalink. Here is a link to those quadcopters on Amazon: amzn.to/11eYte5
Stance Friends Official Chanel Yes it is possible. But I'd recommend the DJI Phantom 3 Professional, which is a fully integrated solution that shoots 4K video. Here is the link to that: amzn.to/1FgNzVY
Payal Dave The red lights on the aircraft are supposed to remain red. They assist with orientation and indicate that the Phantom is powered on. Hope that helps? Please subscribe.
Great video, I have two questions. Is this dji phantom 2 vision plus considered version 3? Also how many uses can you get out of the battery meaning will the battery life start deteriorating at some point? Because I read somewhere that you can only get about 300 uses out of the battery before you will need to purchase another one and those phantom 2 vision plus batteries are pretty expensive 😕
Yes the new version is version V3. We are not sure about the cycle life of the pack. The cycle life should be comparable to a good quality lipo battery. I doubt that is something a buyer should be overtly concerned about. Hope that helps?
One quick question...I ha e the phantom 2 vision...not the plus with the gimbal, will the controller green led light blink or change color when the batteries are getting low?
William Wiese Page 15 of the user manual explains the LED and state of charge on the controller. Here is the link to manual: download.dji-innovations.com/downloads/phantom_2/en/PHANTOM2_User_Manual_v1.4_en.pdf
TheEpikCrafters I would recommend you start off with a quad like the Syma X5C-1 instead, to develop good flight skills before moving on to a more professional platform like the Phantom. The Phantom, in our opinion, is not suited as a first aircraft. Here is our review of that quad: ua-cam.com/video/MmjWCxFgcSA/v-deo.html&lc=z13lfh0rvvbzznx3x22yenvoiyi5sjzh404
I currently have a small £50 drone which is incredibly hard to fly, but I can fly it. And as the phantom 3 just came out I'm considering saving up. Thanks for the advice
There goes my whole reason for wanting one. I was going to market my video services for outdoor events, like weddings and sports stuff.. but apparently the FAA has forbidden making money with drones.
The FAA's restriction against using drones for commercial purposes is clearly unconstitutional. I say that as my opinion and not an official ruling. I can non see how this could be anything other than a violation of our 5th Amendment right to "Liberty" or more specifically our right to "of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior". The fact that drones are legal to be use by literally anyone for "hobby" purposes makes a clear case that they are also safe to be used for commercial purposes. If I want to hire out my services to do some drone footage of an outdoor wedding the FAA has absolutely no constitutional ground to stand on to say that I can't. This is a clear oppressive restriction on my life and behavior. With not just cause they are going out of their way to restrict my ability to make money doing something that doesn't harm anyone in any way. They also restrict my ability to hire someone to perform a service I might not feel comfortable performing myself for lack of skill or may simply be unwilling to invest in the proper equipment for. The FAA can't tell a regular photographer that they can't market their services can they? No government agency can. Its also unconstitutional to try and put that restriction on someone or everyone. They can't tell a quilting circle that they can't sell the quilt when they are done with it. They can't tell an old man who whittles a whistle that he can't sell it. Yet they claim to have the legal authority to tell you and I that we can fly our camera drone around all we want as a "HOBBY" but we can't market or purchase that service? Again I find this to be a clear violation of our 5th Amendment rights. I welcome comments to this. References to any forums which discuss this in more detail, any suggestions for how to deal with this or organizations who are fighting this legally which I could research and or support. I also wonder if anyone knows if this restriction has been or even can be actually legally upheld. If I buy a drone and market my services to photograph events for customers can they actually do anything legally to stop me? Or do they just make up regulations that are unconstitutional and expect people to just do what they say.
K162KingPin While I understand your concerns. I think the FAA has addressed all the concerns you raise, in a very realistic manner. They released proposed rules for commercial drone operations early this year. These rules, in my opinion, are well thought out and open the skies to commercial operators in a safe and phased manner. Hello, is it possible to buy the phantom 2 model with gimbal and attach a gopro hero 4 black and maintain al the functions ?
Stance Friends Official Chanel Yes it is possible. But I'd recommend the DJI Phantom 3 Professional, which is a fully integrated solution that shoots 4K video. Here is the link to that: amzn.to/1FgNzVY
Why does their website says it comes with rechargeable battery. But videos show AA batteries?
***** Yes, you are correct. But from what we received, the batteries were regular AA alkaline batteries.
When you monitor the flight on the screen of your phone you notice any delays in real time the images sent from the drone via wifi?
MsFlagon There is certainly a noticeable delay since the data is sent over WiFi. But its definitely not a substantial delay at all.
Great job! Are the two front lights supposed to be red like in the video? Mine are and I was wondering what that means or if it's normal. Thanks.
