We preodered the S5iix and after watching a bunch of videos about these Catta lenses, this video definitely convinced us to get the two of them. The bokeh is stunning and there is virtually no breathing. Amazing lighting and color grade for the short film scenes btw! Would love to see your workflow on that!
Stunning colour grading and review, beautiful work on your film bro you and your team should be proud of your incredible art. More lens reviews from these please!
Armando wonderful video! You speaking is improving as well, not that you were ever bad (because you were not) you are just that much better today!! I am considering getting the Sennheiser MKH416-P48U3 Super-Cardioid Shotgun Tube Condenser Microphone since it sounds so good.
Thanks! I’m definitely more comfortable on camera, even though I been doing this for over 10 years I sometimes still get camera shy 🤣 been using the 416 for about 6 years and still love it
Interesting lenses, for sure. With all the little disadvantages like only T-stop 2.9, long form factor, weight still 1,85 kg (though they are lot smaller than Fujinon).
Man, people think I’m crazy when I say I’m buying vintage lenses now. They don’t understand why you and other professionals choose vintage/cinema lenses to shoot your projects on. I want that unique look in my films
When everyone starts shooting the same way it kind of ruins any intention of using it to be "unique." Reminds me of when everyone and their auntie said you need a mist filter to look like film. People like to use Cooke's for a certain look, but Arri Master Primes are also popular. Use whatever tool fits the job, don't just hop on the "cinematic" bandwagon. Might as well just make everything teal and orange eventually
@mondobytes "Budget" seems like a relative term for experienced filmmakers, so what initial cine zoom lens for green screen / short films can you recommend, with a lens budget of only $900? Alternatively, I would be interested in 5 choice cine lenses from $500 up to $2500 for Full-Frame L Mount cameras, as reference.
Looks great. Question what was your settings for lens information in the image stabilization? for example the I.S. Area has value like 100%, 80% 90% and 70%.
Hey I’m just curious about getting the L mount version and using a Pl to L adapter, how solid is it with longer lense vs buying a Pl version of the camera
Thanks Armando! The shot at 56 secondes in your film Agony. There's some oval bokeh, they look nice (the fire). Was it with the DZO ? I saw reviews on those lenses and never noticed any oval bokeh on them. Can you tell me how you got that nice shape ?
How is the resistance to both the focus and zoom across the range of zooms? Is it consistent? Did you need to tweak the settings of the wireless lens controls when swapping out lenses?
I’ve always gravitated towards 24-70 lenses and they’re all F2.8 it’s never been an issue for me. Even when we shot our short film it never was an issue. Cameras nowadays have higher ISO levels like my FX3 which goes to 12,800 as a native ISO level I’d have to use ND just to expose properly.
I can't fucking believe those weren't primes. It's so great you can get that kind of quality and only need 3 lenses for whatever situation. Also, I'd love to see or hear some details on the rig and all its components. So tasty. 💙
I'm debating between these and the dzo pictor zooms. Do these produce better quality? Currently all of my cams are super 35, but i may go full frame down the line.
Please sir, What is the difference between the catta ace and the catta zoom?. They both look similar and have same specs on paper but the ace is more expensive than the catta zoom.
Is the video image quality and features better on S5IIX than Panasonic AU EVA1 please advise ? What is the pros on the S5XII?What is the pros of EVA1?Which has the best sensor / cinematic look?Which camera is more pro?
How do the DZOs look on blackmagic cameras (4.6k G2 or 6k pro)? Most of the sample footage I've seen online was with poor lighting, so not the best representation
the Dzo catta are great lenses, but i dont know why EF version are 1000 Dollar more expensive that Rf or E mount ? i dont know why because i plan to get EF version , can you explain me please ?
I've been wanting their MFT parfocal zooms, but as I'm still using the GH5, I opted for lenses with a wider aperture for better low light performance. With a manual zoom lens, do you disable sensor stabilization so you can freely zoom or do you have some other way of dealing with it?
wow. mate. we clearly not have the same deffinition of *budget* .. 4000$ is not budget, it is more than my entire rig XD they do look amazing tho, but at that price any lense look amazing lets be honest.
Fujinon has a rf and e mount 1855 cine lense that is light 1.1kg and was used in Avatar 2, so i really wonder how that compares to the best that our Chinese company provides, which is better. DZO is known for quality and the option of PL is a really nice touch, but Fujinon is some of the best cine lense manufacture today and their 1855 cine is not that far off in terms of price, and that is 500g lighter which is great for handheld as well as on gimble
Yes, in fact it’s a killer combo because you can buy the Canon speedbooster that will give you a Full Frame field of view and now you have an incredible setup m
I have tested Catta zoom vs vespid prime. I found catta zoom has less depth like 3d pop of cooke look than Vespid prime, but anyway it's great lenses btw.
Very impressed by these, looks like a great product to own and rent out. Would be cool if someone made a follow focus system that can use s5 ii phase detect af data to give autofocus to these cine zooms… or if these just were capable of using AF as well even tho that’s low key sacrilegious for cine lenses
Lol they're not "budget" in comparison with others. I don't say they're super expensive but let's say they're in the middle. Personally i prefer the viltrox

Ohh boy these are on my wishlist ! they have a stunning character.
great video Armando. I love my 35-80
That’s my go to but the 70-135 is magical!

Congrats on 500k!
It’s the lens bro! Lol I didn’t even use any filtration either to make it soft ha!
good enough to get clapped
Such a great lens!
Wow never heard of these lenses. Love it
Bro! Fantastic quality review! The graphics are very cool.
Haha that’s something I plan to incorporate more
Thank you for this! I’m looking to get one good lens for Black Friday.
I’m stuck between a prime or a catta zoom.
@@IsaacGarcia-uh6hh Catta you won’t be disappointed

They're cheaper, they look great and if you're manually focusing anyway or using follow focus its a no brainer.
