He can't lose his true love
Yes! SKAM! 💖 Love that show, I think you´ll enjoy it. Hope you watch it from season 1! Really looking forward to your reactions!
omg omg thank you sm for these amazing reactions 💕
so excited for the Skam reactions LET'S GOOOO !!
Can't wait for skam. Love your reactions. I think an important point in the end is also the song being played 'Revolution' fits quiet well.🦄
Here is a "Skam starter pack". No spoilers.
Skam is pronounced more similar to the English word "Scum" than the English word "Scam". It means "Shame".
Please remember this. If the screen goes black sometime for a few seconds and you get confused, keep on watching, don´t turn off the video, until the yellow credits. Otherwise you'll miss something important.
The yellow text you see in the beginning from time to time is the weekday, and the time of the events in the video. But it´s also the time when it was originally released. So it it says "ONSDAG 11:30" (Which means Wednesday 11:30 am) that´s both when the things you´re about to see happened and when that clip was released, so it was going on in real time so to speak. There was also texts between the characters, and the characters had instagram etc. So what you see in the show is like the tip of the ice berg.
This could be useful to know:
Weekdays in Norwegian: Mandag (Monday), Tirsdag (Tuesday), Onsdag (Wednesday), Torsday (Thursday), Fredag (Friday), Lørdag (Saturday), Søndag (Sunday).
It´s set in Oslo, capital of Norway, first season is in 2015. The main characters are 16, just like in Young Royals. Some of the actors are that age too, but some are like 18-22. Some of the actors actually went to the school in the show, for real.
Sorry about the long comment. I'm just so excited to welcome you to the Skamily!
Jason “there needs to be something happening”
Corey “cAR aCCidENT”
Me 👁👄👁
Wilhelm looked at the camera when the song said “revolution”. I don’t want to overthink it but I feel like shit is going down in season 2!
Same I think he’s gonna come out
It better
I dnt think its going to go this way. The show is doing a big effort to "unlabel" Wille and they wouldn't "out" him like this. But surely Wille is determined to fight for Simon and also to fight for August's consequences. I think he isn't gonna take his mother advice to let it go.
It's highly suggestive, same with the sound of a matchstick being lit right after he hung up on the Queen.
@@kaigraham6866 It's literal revenge child pornography, the Queen is fcking sick to 'let it go'
I love how in the end he looks at the camera when the song says "revolution"! Hopefully a hint for what may happen in season two. Loved seeing you react to this show, it has become one of my favourites!!
I really do hope they make a season 2
Looks like an homage to the Call me by your name
your comment made me cry omg what is this show doing to me
He's determined
I never thought about that!
Fun facts: the first scene with Wilhelm and Simon where Willie drags Simon feet with his own wasn't plan like that. It was plan with a kiss instead but both actors and the intimacy coordinator didn't like it because it was not what Wilhelm and Simon needed at that time. They needed to connect at a deeper level and a kiss wasn't working. So they came up with the scene that we saw in the episode! :)
Ahhh that’s so interesting
That was the right choice, so happy they went w that.
The director Erica Calmeyer actually suggested a change in direction for that day, but the actors and IC came up with the result. So a win win for all. ;)
They made such a good choice
@@reginabatallar9602 They did! Everyone loved the footsie. It was so much more intimate than a kiss could have been.
Wilhelm could have honestly giving Simon a heads up before making that statement so that he doesn’t have to hear it from the news 😞😞 Also Simon has the best support system! Whereas Wilhelms supports is no longer there…
i think he was planning on telling the truth like they planned until the last minute, or maybe he was not sure what to do. but if he had decided that he was gonna deny it beforehand im pretty sure he wouldve told simon
@@supercreativeusername Yup.
I love the observation that their support systems are so different. I don’t know why I didn’t think about it before but I think I like it because it shows how Simon wasn’t some “charity project” for Wilhelm because he is well supported without him and although it seemed like Wilhelm was popular in the school, none of the other friends he made were honest or a good support system. It just makes it so authentic and it’s so refreshing to see such a realistic portrayal of being a teenager and romance. Argh I love this show
@@kiki7475 I couldn’t agree more. Simon definitely does have a huge support system that backs him up and keeps him strong.
In the Deep Talk interview with director Rodja and showrunner and writer Lisa, they talk about how they wanted to portray working class life in a positive, realistic way, not often seen in media. The trope of dysfunctional, broken families was upended. Which is why Simon's support system is so good.
Wilhelm telling Simon that he loves him literally crushed me. I think Wilhelm doesn't really know how to stand up for himself... he's just now figuring out who he is and he's trying to do it while grieving his brother and being forced into the new role as prince. Simon is obviously very confident with who he is and has a supportive family and friends. I 100% support him not wanting to be a secret, he shouldn't have to be. But my heart hurts for Wilhelm and I understand why he let the pressure from his mom get the best of him and say it wasn't him in this video. The writing for this show is like reading a book level good where you really get to know the characters and the acting is so unbelievably good that I'm not even taking sides. I just want them to find their way back you each other in season 2. 🦄
It really is so good! The problem is everything else feels so fake now.. because they did this show so well
So agree 👍
@@CoreySchultz I'm trying to look at it as while YR is so real it hurts, that everything else, like Love Victor, may be a little fluffy/childish drama but is still entertaining and I get enjoyment from that so it's ok that it's not YR good. 🙂
@@CoreySchultz I really think you will like Skam a lot then…because it seems so real and natural. A lot of it was improvised, too. Can‘t wait😉❤️
I also feel sorry for both boys, but especially for Wilhelm. Al the rules that come with being a crown prince, and he does not get the chance to choose. He was just born a prince and wants a normal life. I can't imagine the pain he is going through
The way my life changed in 6 episodes, the way I felt empty after 💀
I feel empty now too 😞😞😞
It's been a couple days and I'm still recovering 😩
Same, it’s crazy how a show can make you feel so many emotions and attached to the characters and their stories 😟
The bit where his face crumbles after he hangs up on his mum kills me every time. It's like you can see any hope for having someone there for him just drains out of him.
It’s really sad to see
Yes, thinking you just broke up with your boyfriend betrayed by your friend and mum. He must be feeling damn lonely
@@yase-min4765 I know right it's just like the gods went " here wille have some more crippling anxiety, depression and loneliness and as an add on ill also add hints of betrayal and a dead brother.
@@emmagrocott2395 oh sorry to forgetting erik for a moment. I was thinking of him at that time
@@yase-min4765 and lost one person who supported him no matter what, his brother :(
the look at the camera was definitely a look of rebellion, like, shits going down
Yess I agree
fun fact: this was omar’s (simon’s) acting debut! he did so incredibly well.
He did really well
My theory as to why Wille suddenly caved and gave the statement saying it wasn’t him is that he freaked out when his mom stressed how much more media coverage he would have to face if he didn’t deny it. We know Wille’s been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks throughout the show and how uncomfortable he is with being in the spotlight. So when his mom told him that the media coverage and spotlight he has experienced so far is incomparable with what he’ll face if he comes out I think his anxiety kicked in and prevented him from following through on his plan.
Imagine sacrificing the one you love bc of family only for the family (his mom and August) to betray him…The way he stared into the camera at the end makes me feel like he’s angry and upset enough to face his fears and fuck some shit up
I also wonder if he feel guilty that he basicaly take the easy way out and let Simon deal with all the shit alone. He is told it's all about the family legaci and keeping the traditions held for generations...and that in those eyes his brother was the role model.....that brings me to what August sayd abour Erik... that he woudl probably want Wille be him self... I wonder if this is anywhere close to the truth Will could turn it around..that his brother wouldn't want him to be coward..that eh would want him to be honest and brave. or something like that .. to turn the narative
When he broke the 4th wall in the final scene...it made us feel like HE feels, being watched all the time, having his privacy invaded. Like, WE also watched their intimate moments, and I think the show wants us to reflect on that, and to give us a tiny feel of what that is like.
This show is a piece of art, I need more of it!!!
Question: What sucks is that this show makes everything else feel fake. Even love Victor is suddenly so superficial. Some say that this is typically European, but I can't take a good look at Elite anymore either. It's too much, it doesn't take our generation seriously. Does anyone please please know a show that comes close to Young Royals?
I literally feel the same way omg 🙈🙈😂😂😂
Scandi noir often feels very real compared to other detective shows.
you should watch skam!!!
GRAND ARMY (netflix) has the same realness/rawness and... American!!!
Yes, I totally feel the same about other shows! I don't think there is a show who feels as real as YR at this moment... Skam comes close maybe, but still has a lot of stereotypical parts en not so many layers as this show... Here everything is right, from actors to cinematography to clothing etc!
My respect for Simon has grown so much after this episode. He don’t force Wilhelm to come out, he knew that’s something only he can do on his own. It sucks that Wilhelm can’t stand up for him. Maybe and hopefully he’ll find the courage to do so next season (fingers crossed we get one 🤞🏾)
Yes that’s so true!
He did kinda pressured him to come out n admit he was in the sex tape n when he couldn’t he left him I don’t see how that wasn’t forced.
@@sinominie9881 he said he didn't want to do it alone. He seemed shocked Wilhelm would entertain letting him take it all on himself (as he could not deny it was him), but if you see that as force we have a very different idea of coercion.
@@georgeweatherford1027 him being shocked Wil would deny that is basically forcing him to out himself and admit it was him even though he wasn’t ready n wasn’t the one who posted the video
@@sinominie9881 we have very different definitions of "forced."
The sad thing is that Wilhelm doesn’t have anybody else, :,(
You know what's absolutely beautiful about this series, the fact that it's not about them being in a gay relationship, it's that he's the crown prince that matters and makes this hard. That's the only reason they're trying to cover it up. They made it so beautifully that you don't think 'i'm watching a gay couple.'' it just shows two teenagers falling in love, And I absolutely dig it.
Right, like queer media that doesnt completely focus on being queer is really important because it doesn't ostracize queer people and shows that queer people are people who's identities don't completely focus on that part of their identity.
Yes. And also it transcends age. They can be teenagers or in their twenties, but the conflicts remain the same. I also love that the questions posed by their peers aren’t about their queer status, but more about the logistics of how the crown will pass based on existing rules and what the relationship expectations are based on Simon’s social standing vs Wilhelm’s. I love, love, love every detail of this script and acting. It’s modern-day Shakespeare.
The reason Wilhem stares at the camera is he's at his lowest point. The first time he stared at the camera was when his life was going to be completely changed after the fight. His life had changed. Of course the 2nd time again he was at his lowest, torn between love and duty. His life has changed again.
His look was very different though. There was a lot of determination in it in episode 6.
I would argue that Wilhelm is actually gaining personal strength, self awareness, and courage in the final scene, as evidenced by him declaring his LOVE for Simon and publicly embracing him to leave no doubt that theirs is a romantic and loving relationship! And staring straight into the camera at the end, after hanging up on the Queen previously, signals that he's poised to stand up for himself and fight for his relationship with Simon, as an authentic "not fake" Crown Prince!
THIS WILL NOT BE THE LAME, DONE-TO-DEATH HOLLYWOOD TROPE ABOUT ROYALTY FORCED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN "LOVE OR DUTY" > WILHELM WILL SHOW THAT YOU CAN DO BOTH THINGS BY BEING HIS TRUE SELF AND BRINGING THE ROYAL FAMILY INTO THE *CHANGING* 21st CENTURY!
Echoing the overriding central theme of this series voiced by Simon when he says to Sara > "Yah, but people can CHANGE" > to which she replies > "But isn't that the thing with the Royal Family...that they never CHANGE?"
Essentially It symbolizes another shift.
@@jimsummers3313 LITERALLY EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING THE WHOLE SERIES!! The soundtrack with the futuristic music and dreamyness trying to show how their aligning with change and some ideals that could never exist before. It’s so gen z, it’s so willing to break out of a suffocating box, or simply just change the circumstances. So many agree that august could have called his cousin, or have done anything else to get the money which would have been easier. But, he decided to “keep
Up appearances” like Erik. Interesting how Erik died. And how will added his specific thoughts on him driving and why Erik himself shouldn’t have. It’s showing how actually….NONE OF THIS IS WORKING. There are better ways to deal with problems, opposed to no one supporting each other and being disingenuous. It isn’t complete destruction, the royal monarchy but it just doesn’t work in the 21st century for various reasons, and somehow Willie will change that. And I love how we get that all from a look. The show doesn’t discuss any political solutions or anything current, just an issue as old as time with real emotions. We have absolutely no idea how Willie is going change, but we are all sure he will. Because that is his real duty, and it has been since the beginning before he truly knew it.
Raise your hands if after finishing this episode you stared at your screen/device in complete despair? I know for a fact it’s not just me. This show has completely destroyed me in ways I can’t describe 😔
Wait till the end… that is basically us
That was actually totally me. I wasn't teary or anything, just very very mindblown, no words left.
this show is the reason of my happiness and emptiness at the same time-
I’ve i don’t watch it atleast once a week, i’m broken...
23:37 is by far one of the most saddest scene when wille realized he was all alone, his brother died, simon took a break, august betrayed him, his mother lied to him, everything is going wrong. That hurt right there. I'm so looking forward on whats gonna happen on season 2! Love your reactions as always!
I can’t wait for season 2 either
A thing i also love about the show is that they never label Wilhelms sexuality
The change rooms scene is one of my favourite because they didn’t blame each other they said what the fuck are we gonna do but we’re gonna do it together. And that’s why when willie denies it hurts so much cause Simon trusted him with his whole life and he betrayed him…
Jason: "I feel like I need to take a brake"
Me: *literally took 5 hours watching episode 6 because I had to pause after every scene to process*
I didn't take breaks, but as soon as I finished episode 6, I wanted to rewatch it immediately -- and do it super slowly. And I did. It helped me to notice some small details I skipped earlier, being too addicted to Wilmon moments and their scenes. Never felt so overwhelmed with any show before. So I guess I totally get your feeling.
I had not watch episode 6. I left it until i ca hear season 2 announced
Same 🥲
So, first things first -> 🦄
Then something i haven’t seen written already, which i think contributes greatly to the greatness of yr.
1. the hugs. Wille is a great hugger, but also all other characters hug a lot. And we’ve been denied hugging a lot this past year and a half and - guess what? - this is a world experience we share: no hugs, face masks and social distancing. So i think that as we watch them laugh and play and talk and struggle, we also feel these hugs very deep inside.
2. the colors. It’s swedish flag all over 🇸🇪 in the locker room for example Wille is dressed in blue and Simon in yellow and they tangle their arms, just like the flag. There’s also a very bluish hue in the background.
3. the intimacy director’s job. She’s such an important role in bringing out emotions and acting in such a true and respectful way. I think we all noticed that: true, relatable emotions, real life age and situations, composed yet profound feelings. I so much admire such professionalism!!! and it shows in the result 😊
4. the fandom. Cast and crew keep relating with the fans on every single social network and every single day 😂 i guess they didn’t expect such warmth and attention, though it seems from the interviews the whole production was pretty aware of how intense and well done yr is, they are very reasonably proud of what they’ve accomplished.
finally, Corey and Jason : you are absolutely amazing ❤️❤️❤️ can’t wait to see you reacting to Skam!
I love what you said about the hugs! I was listening to an episode of This American Life a few weeks ago talking about how everyone is so touch-starved because of COVID and I really think that the intimacy paired with the chemistry between the leads and the way the actors are not airbrushed dolls, but real people are why I connected to this show on such a visceral level.
Wille is such a good boy. I mean, he's so kind, sincere, with good manners, and willing to be like the others. Compare him to August, who isn't a prince himself, but acts rude, doesn't communicate with non-residents (except Simon), and craves power. Wilhelm is the nice 'little prince', but also a lonely, scared teen. I feel so bad for him, wish we could give him a hug. I guess Felice might be his close friend in season 2, she really cared for him and never let him down.
the ending with him looking into the camera is so intense to me because, as jason said, he did that in the first episode and the song from the football field playing again, it just makes me shiver omfg
The final scene is the same song from the love confession on the football field in episode 4. If you listen to the lyrics that they chose for the football field and the lyrics they chose for the last scene it makes it all feel so so important and real. Shit is going to change! Also one thing that always got me watching this is that Edvin, who plays Wille was only 17 when they filmed it, he is fucking incredible!
Please react to their interviews. Their chemistry is insane! Also Simon actor (Omar) sings the songs live and wilhem actor (Edvin) watches and it’s so cute x
yess
There’s something about Simon’s gentle “thank you/ tak” after Wille says that his Christmas singing was beautiful that just breaks my heart. Ugh
This show is so INCREDIBLE, the atmosphere is just perfect, the characters are super endearing, the story is moving, the actors are amazing and their acting leaves me speechless. I really need a season 2, there are too many unanswered questions!
That look at the end was Wilhelm entering his reputation era, like boy is about to fuck some shit up (in a good way)!!
When Jason said that will be such a good cliffhanger, I was like Jason you will get a better one 😂 OMG this episode has sooo many of my favourite scenes!!! But the scene where Simon tells Wilhem that he isn't asking him for anything and that he can take all the time to figure things out is undoubtedly my favourite scene of the ENTIRE season!!! The maturity and sensitivity with which that scene is done is just mind blowing!!!!
I got misty-eyed when Simon meet the queen. I feel for Simon, I've been someone's "dirty little secret"...it about destroyed me. Corey, I think you're right, the shit is gonna hit the fan! Thank you, Corey and Jason, for making my day better!
Thank you for watching it Brent
i can't do a unicorn emoji but imagine there's one here:
The locker room scene breaks my heart. Being outed is my biggest fear. The fist time I watched the show I was tense all throughout the last episodes. I feel very sorry for both boys but specially Simon because that video will follow him forever.
Your reactions to Willie's statement loool
Wilhelm looked at the camera while the song said "let's start a revolution, revolution" :) I bet he's goint to do something big next seasosn.
I can’t wait to see what he does in the next season! Also thanks for watching the beginning of the video ☺️ so many people just skip it
I loved that ending it was perfect, priorities yk, and I don’t think willie was expecting Simon to say ily back
he definitely wasn't expecting or even hoping simon would say it back imo either. he's an intelligent kid and they're really good at communicating (especially compared to most tv shows where unnecessary drama is birthed from unaddressed misunderstandings lol) so after the talk they had, he knows that they can't be a thing again until he's dealt with his issues and is willing to go public. to me wille's confession doubles as a promise that he's getting ready to try doing whatever he can do at this moment and simon's reply is an acknowledgement plus although he won't/can't say it back, i feel like his body language says he's in love too anyway 🤷♀️
I absolutely love watching you guys react to this specifically it’s my favorite
Ahh thank you
Great reaction. Looking directly at the camera with that song playing in the background, and not saying a word, IS the cliffhanger. The writers let our mind fill in the blanks. That is the best type of cliffhanger. The audience's imaginations are going to keep this show on the "front burner" until Season 2. All that speculation, discussions, arguments among the viewers! It's marketing genius.
Denying the fact that he isn’t in the video is sort of way a to protect Simon as well, from all the journalists and media attention that he started getting. And since he’s not a “known” person, the attention will eventually pass. Imagine their teenage life under the constant eye of the public if Wilhelm actually said it was them….
but it will follow simon for life I mean he'll probably never get a job because everybody knows that's him in that video, he is even in magazines so.. anyways wllhelm did it because of what his mom said not for simon
My interpretation of Wilhelm breaking the fourth wall and looking straight into the camera in the first episode and at the end of this episode is that this whole series could be a commentary on the scrutiny that public figures like royalty are under all the time. The way public opinion is so important for some of these figures that they sometimes are forced to live their lives in a way that's different from the way they want to live them. I'm not sure when the show was first developed or produced, but I feel like there's a little bit of timeliness when thinking about the way that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from their royal duties. Idk maybe i'm just reaching, but that's the thought I immediately had when I first watched it.
Yes! I feel like some part of his look is to implicate us in this as well. We are the everyday people who would be consuming the gossip mags, watching the videos, etc.
I just binged your reaction videos for Young royals in one sitting, and finally subscribed. It feels weird to think how a series about princes and queens and nobility somehow manages to be the most real, relatable and authentic depiction of being a gay teenager. Wilhelm is under so much pressure, first having grown up in the shadow of the golden boy Erik, who's too lovable to envy, especially because Erik is Wilhelm's chance to live his live more freely. Then he is forced to face the reality of losing Erik, of the expectations placed on him by her mother and the official duties, and of the fact that he is a gay man about to either hide his true self forever and save the monarchy, or come out and live his life as the first openly gay prince in Sweden, against his mother's will. And he's 16. My biggest worries at sixteen were the likes of do these socks fit with my shoes.
I'm predicting for season 2 that Wilhelm focuses on convincing the society and his parents that being a gay prince is not that big a deal, while dating openly with Simon. He's the crown prince, and the only living heir to the throne, so unless the queen wants to hand the crown to August, there isn't much to be done. The drama will probably take place in Sara's life - as an autistic girl, her motive for basically blackmailing August to help her become like Felice and the other girls was simply that she feels she's accepted to the group if she acts a certain way. She feels her normal self is wrong, so she is determined to change the way she is. I really hope August grows up and learns to take responsibility of his ways.
This series was pretty much perfect, the cast was phenomenal. I truly hope there's more to come.
'the death of his homosexuality' 😂 i honestly am gonna miss your reactions. i hope season 2 won’t take too long.
Simon's Mom is MVP. What a wonderfully supportive presence, always smiling and warmly loving.
I am glad Simon did not return the "I love you." Wilhelm hugging him isn't enough. More needs to be done before Simon can feel confident he won't get jerked around yet again. Love Wilhelm, but he HAS pulled Simon through it.
I love how you two are laughing and I was crying the entire episode
Jason and I try to find the brighter side of things 😂 otherwise we will be in tears 🙈🙈
“A good series dont need a cliffhanger to mKe us want to watch season 2” THE WAY U HIT IT PERFECTLY ON THE HEAD WOW
🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄 5 unicorn reaction!
I thought the ending was exactly right, Wille making sure Simon understands how he feels and Simon holding onto the protection he established for both of them in the ‘break-up (for now)’ scene. It’s the only way forward that might work, because Wille needs to build his internal strength for the fight ahead. He reached the absolute depth of pain and clarity in that call with his mother, realising that he’s alone and what comes next is entirely in his own hands. ‘The Hug’ is him showing new resolve and determination, and the stare to camera underscores it.
Roll on Season 2. The bar is set very, very high and I can’t wait to see where this goes.
the fact the one time august acts and seems the most sincere in the whole show is when he's acting out of guilt and shame after having royally fucked up tho (but he's right, erik would've surely wanted his brother to be himself and live a happy little high school life with his boyfriend ;___;)
also mvp detective felice president give her a medal
I HATE when people vilify Wilhelm! We need to understand Wille was born in a family where your personal wants and needs are irrelevant. From the moment he was born his every step, every word was dictated and predetermined by the monarchy, plus the public, plus the media. He could never do anything what he desired. He was sent to the boarding school against his will, he was forced to apologize publicly for the fight in a club. How many of us had to go to the tv network and make a statement about something we did when we were a 16 year old? None of us. Yes Sweden is very LGBT friendly country, number one actually in the world, but it’s irrelevant when it come to the monarchy and pressure to carry the bloodline and keep the royal duties. All his life he was compared to his “perfect” brother, and now he has to replace him. I totally understand Simons position, Simon was free to be who he wanted to be, always. And he got great support, where Wille never had any (especially shown in the last conversation with the queen, image and legacy was more important then his well-being). I 100% understand both sides, I understand why Wille had to make that statement, cause the pressure he’s under is unimaginable, and I understand why Simon had to protect his freedom to be who he was. The story is so tragic for both sides, there are no villains here (f**k you August), they are just victims of the circumstance. Plus they are only 16, no one at that’s age is capable to makes such life altering decision, especially when it comes to royal household (Take British monarchy as a reference). Anyway, BRAVO YR creative team and phenomenal talent of the performers for giving us such complex and absolutely beautiful story! NETFLIX, second season needs to be made like yesterday. Also, thank you guys for great reactions! ❤️
literally no one is vilifying Wille but even if denying his involvement in the sextape is something he HAS to do, which is understandable, we can still acknowledge that that is devastating for Simon
@@edithputhy4948 unfortunately some people do, especially on TikTok, lots of people blaming Wilhelm. But none of us will ever understand what it is like growing up in the royal family and the pressure you have to live under. I know it’s fiction but also look what happened to Harry and Meghan, and Harry is not even in line to be a king. Like I said I totally understand both sides, Simon was right to be upset and stay away and be who he was, and i also understand why Wille had to make that statement.
@@becausemiro but the Swedish and British royals are nothing alike and not comparable, the BRF is arguably the most famous family on earth with the highest media coverage possible and the notoriously vicious British tabloids documenting their every move. Scandinavian royals are very lowkey and not very famous internationally. Of course it's still unimaginable pressure but different ballparks. Look at Princess Sofia of Sweden, she used to be a trashy reality TV contestant and was dragged through the mud by the Swedish media when she married Prince Carl Philip but today she's well liked despite her being half naked on reality TV back in the day.
@@edithputhy4948 my dear, we are now debating about royalties of the world :)) I know I brought it up as a reference because how it was presented in the show. In the show Willes family was depicted very traditional and very similar to the British monarchy. In reality it maybe different, I’m sure it’s a lot different, but in this fictional tale that’s how this particular family was shown, very by the book and only following what tradition dictates. Or did I watch the wrong show? :))
HAVE U SEEN THE 2 MIN BTS FOOTAGE it is so short but my heart is bursting from cuteness
Last week it was actually made clear that same sex marriage is allowed for future monarch or heir to the throne in Sweden. Woho!
Both the Netherlands and Sweden have made this statement, and hopefully more countries will follow.
This show is really amazing!! ❤
I remember watching it one night, not expecting much except for some light entertainment, and it completely took me by surprise. I've also become kind of obsessed with Omar Rudberg. He's an incredibly talented artist and such a sweet soul!
Also loved your reaction to the show! ❤
Could cry all over again..my God, this YR has taken hold...please season 2..and more reactions from you both..I cant imagine, honestly, the impact a season 2 is going to have🙏✌❤
Young royals and skam both have my heart. Realistic honest shows with amazing actors and since their both scandinavian i recognise a lot of it and it feels like something that could actually happen
The queen asks if it's worth it and Wille responds with actions: saying it wasn't him in the video. It still breaks my heart remembers Simon saying "thank you for not leaving me alone"
I just finished reaction videos of Young Royals Season 1 on this channel belatedly. It is 01:36 AM in my country but I could not stop watching. I totally enjoyed and also there were a lot of good opinions that you guys said. AWESOME. Thank you guys and I am going to catch up on other videos.
People say Simon was so rude with Wilhlem but I disagree, I think he handled it pretty mature. He didn’t make him come out but he decided not to be someone’s secret so that like wow Simon you’re so mature.
I need a second season to see what happens 😫
really, there's nothing rude about what simon said, he's been out to his family and friends for long enough before the show's events that it's basically a non issue in his circle so it's quite understandable that he wouldn't want to hide a relationship because of his boyfriend's circumstances.
It's not like he gave an ultimatum to wille like either come out or we're over forever, simon just asked him to take the time he needs to figure things out for himself because it would be unfair to both of them to pressure him or to still be his secret bf during this process.
But what I don't get with Simon's "i dont want to be a secret" line is he is contradicting himself. Yes he's out. But he knew from the get go that they had to keep their relationship a secret. It's not like he's been living in Sweden just the other day to not know that homsexuality within the royal family is taboo or unheard of... So when he agreed to have a relationship with Wilhelm, je KNEW he ha to keep the relationship a secret for a certain time (ofc, ideallt they would have to come out in the open, but thats a process and cant bappen right away)... What im saying is Simon signed up for this "secret" relationship and now just because it became public (at least on his side because he was the one clearly seen in the video) he suddenly uses the "somenodys secret card"... I think what his issue should be more here is not that he was "being somebody's secret" but that he was gonna have to deal with this public shame ON HIS OWN, by himself given that Wilhelm has officially denied the video. So actually, if we really stick to Simon's character development, what he should be demanding from the prince is that they go through with it together but not necessarily make their relationship "not a secret" anymore.
@@CDCPH582 Well, there's a big difference between hanging out together "as friends" in public and not being able to be seen together in public at all because of the video. Plus, while he knew it was secret from the start, they never communicated about it so he might have assumed it was going to be secret for a time and then Wille would come out. He never explicitly agreed to being in a secret relationship.
No cause there’s no way in Hell these boys are staying away from one another. Let’s go S2!!!
15:08 I mean, it would be pretty on brand.🤣🇸🇪🏳️🌈
Our culture is very open about sexuality, I really think the only reason Wille is “not allowed to be gay” is because he needs to produce an heir which would be… interesting in a royal setting, to say the least. At this point in time a Crown Prince is very much expected to get princess and heirs are the only reason (in my opinion).
Even though Young Royals has only 6 episodes but every episode is significant. Major and impactful events occur in each one of them.
😭 The "Have a nice Christmas" gets me every time.
Loved watching you react to this. I've just finished SKAM (after seeing everyone in the comments tell you to watch it!) so can't wait to re-watch it along with you! 🦄
You guys really threw me off being on different sides! 🦄 haha
This show was so well done! I liked what you said at the end, that a quality show doesn't need a big cliffhanger to get you to watch the next series, so true. But also...with Netflix's track record, or any network for that matter, if it was to get cancelled (the horror) then at least it has a semblance of an ending and we can imagine what happens next in our own heads and/or fanfics. lol
It’s been interesting after watching the series to go watch some interviews with the actors who play Willhelm, Simon, and August. And some of them are in English; apparently most Swedish people learn English in school as well as their native language and speak it pretty fluently. The actor who plays August turns out to be very personable and likable, as do the other two actors. I do hope there is a second season, because there are plenty of interesting things to explore from this point on.
It´s actually the Swedish actors who does the English dub as well.
Funny story: I started watching YR because I loved Malte when he played a sweet, cute and awkward character in the series Skitsamma. The shock when August entered...
I've read somewhere that they are used to watch cartoons, movies and series in English, nothing is dubbed or with subs. Then it´s easier to learn the language. In my country everything is dubbed. We learn English just in school and it´s not enough, the level is usually not good.
@@verujetenska8155 That's true, nothing is dubbed (except for kids movies/series). The concept of dubbing is so strange, why would you wanna watch something where the sound doesn't match the mouth movements, when it's so easy to just use subtitles? I feel bad for people in countries where you have to watch stuff dubbed, both for that reason and for kind of getting robbed of the opportunity to practice your English. (When I was young, I think we started learning English in third grade, and now it's from first. But I don't think it's in school you actually learn most part of it. That's where you get the foundation, the rest you can easily get by consuming different kinds of culture in English, I'd say. And speaking the language whenever you get a chance.)
@@knaskamilla I have nothing against dubbing, because czech dubbing is excellent. I don´t know how they do that, but you don´t even notice it´s not their voice. It fits so good. Every famous actor is always dubbed by the same czech actor (= he has the same voice in all of the movies). Then it feels very natural. The only disadvantage I see is that we can't train English. But if you have netflix or other platform, you can choose. Then I always prefer original with eng subs. :) In case of YR I tried english dubbing (it´s done by the actors themselfs), but it´s not so good. Original voices are more emotional.
Duncan Laurence Arcade ft. Fletcher is one of my favorite songs and I think it’s perfect for Young Royals---"A broken heart is all that’s left; I’ve spent all of the love I saved; Do you love me, or love me not? Loving you is a losing game”😭😭😭😭
Ohhh owa owa aooooo ooo oo
Agreed 💔
This show is so raw. It gave me all the feels. Your reactions were fantastic.
I also like that this show has most of the actors voicing the English Dub versions for the show
More shows should do that, it adds authenticity, because the original actor know the scene and the emotions in another way that some other dubbing actor would.
Please don't stop saying "shame (shem)". It's just so uniquely South(ern)African. I love it. I think your international audience will come to appreciate it. Love you 2.
12:16 wow you took me back to my younger days “i’m not angry I’m just disappointed”
So glad you guys reviewed Young Royals. Looking forward to season 2 because there better be a season 2.
One of y’all said “Eish!” and I screamed😂😂😂🇿🇦😆🤣✨…now I understand why I’ve been hearing SA slang all over your videos
WHAT DO WANT? SEASON TWO. WHEN DO WE NEED IT? NOW!!!!!
YESSSS
The look towards the camera at the end always gives me goosebumps!
I finished it a couple hours ago and now I feel empty. I need a season two
This is the most touchy serie i’ve ever watched, i felt so broken and in despair.
I watched my scream without saying a word and dreamt about this thing like the entire night and multiple nights of the week.
you should react to "Young Royals: Omar Rudberg & Hillerska Choir Sing Live" or some of their interviews so you get to know the actors as well :)
Yess we might actually do this
yes!
Yes please do!
@@CoreySchultz YES PLS I already said this in another comment but all of netflix’s young royals content is in a playlist on netflix nordic’s youtube channel :)
@@CoreySchultz YES PLEASE DO BEFORE SKAM
I CANT WAIT FOR S2
I love how Corey was almost speechless at the end, because that was exactly how I felt after watching the ending. I started the first episode on my laptop back when it came out, honestly not expecting too much at first, and was so mesmerised at the end of ep1 that I bingewatched the rest of the show on my TV that night, and by the end of ep6 it was around 2 a.m., my mind was blown and I was tired, so I didn't understand the ending at first. I didn't realise that Wilhelm was only leaving for the Christmas break, I thought he was going for good, and I was like "Nooooooooo". Too crushed to be teary, just very very mindblown. I watched the series again the next day and then I got what the ending actually meant lol, and I was more hopeful. But man, what an emotional journey that was. I fell so in love with that series, the characters, I don't even know why. I've rewatched it several times since and can't wait for season 2. Btw, I think a lot of people who are surprised by Sara's actions in ep6 will again be surprised when rewatching the series, as they will be discovering subtle hints that she wasn't the innocent girl she's sometimes taken for from the start. There was a little bit of foreshadowing, if you look closely. Glad for the decision that Simon made for himself and not caving in. Wilhelm needs that learning curve and hopefully we will see some s**t hitting the fan in season 2 which I hope will be announced soon. Loved your reactions so much and can't wait to spend season 2 with you guys, if all goes well.
I was staring at the screen being like something is wrong... something is terribly wrong... Then I realized you kind of switched sitting places XDD
he's gonna end the monarchy... he made the statement because he thought his family actually supported him like his mother, cousin etc. but as soon as he made the statement his mother was gone again-he packed alone. he doesn't even feel erik's support anymore because he was the one that told him to trust august. he lost his all family to the monarchy and this so called legacy and now simon too. and we know how far he's willing to go to keep him. he's angry af. he's gonna make sure no one is ever gonna hear the words "being a prince is a privilege not a punishment." ever again
I just watched the last episode yesterday evening and I loved it so much! I think that the look at the end means that Wilhem is now sure of his feelings and determined to confront the queen😁👍
This show is absolutely beautiful. I must say Netflix really has some gems recently.
Aren't you glad I pushed you guys to review this series? It was one of the most moving and intense series I've seen so far. And so realistic and not USA CW/Disney fakery. It wasn't based on cliche and how pretty the actors are. The performances are award winning and so believable. I look forward to season 2. Love you guys, thanks for doing these reactions. Hugs from your friend Antonio in Berlin. 🦄🦄🦄
I think its also a very fair ending because they wont know yet if Netflix will renew it for a second season. IF they wont the ending provided us with enough to imagine ourselves what would happen, but it also opens up for alot more shit to go down! I think it was very clever
tha last look tell us season 2 is coming baby don't be sad that ending. I'm so obsessed with this series and I wanna know who is matched these songs for every prefect situation. They are freaking touchy. At last I like your reaction. Both of you are so cute and funny. Good luck and be healthy.
Watching your reactions to all 6 episodes has been as dramatic as the episodes themselves. I've seen the series twice now & it just gets better & better, especially with your reactions and interpretations of the storyline. Can't wait for season 2 and your season 2 reaction. Off to look at your Love, Victor comments. 🦄🦄🦄
"When the content is good enough you don't need a cliff hanger."
"Right" (in unison) 😂😂
I love how you guys are so into this as well.
"When the content is good enough, you don't need a cliff hanger" The Shade towards Love, Victor, okay, Corey took a stance. He's a Young Royals Stand, Victor who?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Young royals is one of the best TV shows I have watched. I need the second season soon as possible 🦄
It’s fine, it’s not like my heart was broken after this episode or anything 🥲💔
Lol but really though, they had to use that song against us at the end though! 😭
It was such a sad ending
Wilhelms last look in the camera was like "I AM GONNA BURN THIS PLACE FOR LOVE JUST WAIT AND WATCH" 🙌
OMG 3nd comment!!! We need a season 2! I really loved this series. As someone who had a hidden relationship as a kid this show is something I really relate to and look back and so glad these tv shows exist for kids to be able to know it’s okay to love whoever you love! 🦄
We definitely need season 2! I totally agree with you
*Unicorn* Thank you both so much for doing this. I can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed watching you watch YR, and how often and heartily I laughed at your reactions. It almost felt like observing close friends watching this show. Since in my surrounding no one has seen this show, I have felt a bit alone with my enthusiasm, and it has been such a great experience to kind of share that with you through these videos.
Also, your reactions were incredibly kind, authentic, empathetic and perceptive. Like, that comment "That's very specific, does he have, like, OCD?", just by the way August put down his watch in the 1st or 2nd episode? I suspected something similar when I saw him get out those pills and later on, but I wouldn't have noticed that watch thing, and I am very aware of mental health stuff in series/movies. That's just one of many examples. Hats off! Or your genuine painful expression while watching Wilhelm get the call about his brother's death. You're were so compassionate of all the characters.
And, of course, you're both incredibly funny in these videos, but at the same time not mean. Your comments really made my day! "I kind of dig the brother." ""You're not gonna say anything until I say so" - an ass queen!" (or something like that)
Thank you so much, and I hope you'll do this for the 2nd season also, once it's released :)
Corey: "Ugh... I don't like this..."
Me: "Well honey, you're not gonna like what's coming next."
i legit finished it then watched it 7 hours after i had already finished it and now i’ve watched all of theses basically watching it a third time it’s just soooo good
20:21 Unless you're royal, it's impossible to understand what Wilhelm is going through, no matter how open society is.
I'm so glad you guys watched the whole season!, it's definitely one of my favorite Netflix shows now, just because of how good the plot and the characters were.
So excited for the possible season 2! Make way for the revolution! Love your reactions 😍😍
I totally agree with Corey. Willie has been put thru so much by everyone around him EXCEPT for Simon, that I feel the look at the end was one of decision and determination. I think that is Willie thinking about blowing everything up. As Corey said, the Shit is about to hit the Fan in Season 2.
I really enjoyed this. You're more forgiving than many, you try to see other perspectives, which is more enjoyable to watch than people being judgemental.
Sara's Asperger's, which is better called Autism Spectrum Disorder, ASD, can result in very poor romantic choices in women, as bipolar in women can result is dangerous sexual choices. I'm really glad that you were just shocked by the terrible mistake Sara made, not condemning it. If she had more skills around female friendship she might have known to trust Felice's judgement that August is a terrible boyfriend, and known that her decision could cost her her friendship with Felice, which I don't think she'd have risked if she'd known.
You respecting Simon's response to Wille's love bomb also felt really good.
I'm with you in being hopeful that Wille's second breaking of the fourth wall means he's going to start some shit, not just that he's as despondent as he was when he did it in the first episode.
Thank you for this sweet, insightful video.
This episode always makes me cry so im over here watching yall react crying like a baby
This episodes pains me, but yet I love your reactions enough to sit through it again. lol
Ahhh thank you
i watched the whole thing lol 🦄 it saw me through the dishes, prepping food, cooking it, doing the dishes again and now watching this last episode while having my meal.
