Hey guys, I'm back with another video!! So, in todays video we are starting another series I'm unfortunately incredibly late to. That is "Young Royals" another Netflix series based around an lgbtqia+ storyline. You guys have been leaving so many comments about it on my other videos that my interest was peaked, so here we go. At least with the dub, it’s the actors themselves dubbing it in English since they all speak both! But I do think some of it hits harder in its original language. Excited for this!

I personally prefer listening to the original audio with English subtitles because you get to hear the real voices and sounds in the scenes and I just think it's better, but I've listened both ways

Most of the actors for Young Royals did the English dubbing so it is their voices. I also listened in Swedish with the English subtitles for the most part but the dubbing isn’t as bad for this show the way it is for like, for example, Elite where it’s unwatchable

@@jmsrh_3294 Personally for people like me who have a hard time following the words on the screen at the bottom to what is going on in the scene, i appreciate the show more. Especially since the actors are dubbing over themselves in English which makes it more believable for me.
This show has a choke hold on me. I can’t thing about anything but season 2 so thanks for the distraction. I watched in Swedish and it was such an experience. The nuances and vocal inflections made it for me. But you do you.

Some characters speak Spanish and English in the show so if you watch in original Swedish audio, you'll get the language switching too which I think adds a huge dynamic.

I saw a list and some are different but most are the same, including all the major characters, which is cool.

I think in Swedish we get to see the actors emotions shine through much more because it's their native language as with English it can be much harder to portray the emotions when it's their second language and it's difficult to redo the raw emotions felt in the scene even though it's the same actors speaking in English
100%. They do a good job with the dub but it just sounds more stilted and scripted than the Swedish does (to me at least). The Swedish emotion is everything

100% went and rewatched heartstopper like the day after I finished young royals because it BROKE ME (but then again so does the end of heartstopper season 2 so 😅😅)
I’m so excited for this!!! I honestly feel like I block out the initiation part from my memory because it’s so disgusting 🤢
Also, I think the Swedish audio definitely gives you a better experience but honestly I think go with whichever you think you’ll do better reacting to
6:49 I actually really appreciate, that they don't define Wilhelm's sexuality. I think it's a great show, because of the representation of someone, who uses labels (Simon) and someone, who doesn't (at least not from what we have seen yet) wants to label himself as bisexual, gay or something else.
To me, hearing Swedish adds to the experience of this show. It's not the typical monarchy, it's Sweden. They're built different, it's a different vibe
OH MY GOD YES!!!! Be ready to cry. This show ruined my life in the best way. I am obsessed. It’s so amazing. The performances, the CHEMISTRY between Wille and Simon is INSANE, it’s so beautiful and well written and shot and thoughtful and subverts stereotypes and expectations. I love it. Definitely better with the subs though.
btw omar, who plays simon, is also a singer and used to be in a band. he has several songs that out last year and this year. some of them are called moving like that, mi casa su casa, yo dije ouff, and alla ba ouff. his debut album OMR comes out may 27th, same day as stranger things
I’ve watched about 3 minutes, and while I get that it makes more sense for you to watch it with English audio, the Swedish audio makes the acting look better and it all seem more realistic so you should maybe consider it for the next episode :))

Young Royals was a completely different obsession than Heartstopper is for me. It's a fantastic series, and I hope you love it!

I watched this show after Heartstopper too and was traumatized 🙈😂😭, I'll definitely watch the next season but its vibe is sooooo different than Heartstopper and I was not prepared. Also, if you think Harry is bad in Heartstopper, August is on another most hated level.

the actor that plays simon (omar rudberg) is a singer/performer in real life and his music is really good! he's releasing his first album may 27th
Funny fact, the actor playing August actually auditioned for the Simon's characters. But I'm happy with their choices

The dubbed version is a bit better for this because they did it themselves (the same actors), but the original audio will always be better, because it is the language they used when they were there in the moment of the scene, living it and feeling it, and portraying their emotions through their words, bodies, etc.
That's why, in my opinion, dubbing is always a disservice to the actors who tried so hard to convey something through speech. Maybe they were about to cry and their voices cracked, you know, there's no way you could ever convey this while dubbing, because you're not feeling what the actors were feeling.
No disrespect to voice actors, btw. This is just my personal opinion.

I kinda disagree. The stuff you mentioned can very well be conveyed by voice actors who listen intently to the actors and then are able to incorporate that in their performance. There are a LOT of VA's that can do that, actually (I don't know any english speaking ones unfortunately). That's why I also think that skilled VA's > the original actors.
@@cptnboo6573 That might be true, but let’s be real, almost no production company is putting this much effort into finding voice actors of the level you mention. See Squid Game for example lol. And still, I have to agree with the original comment, it just won’t ever be able to compete with the „real thing“. No matter how passionate the voice actor is, for me, the fact that the words don’t match the movement of the lips is already enough to take me out of it completely.

@@yomomma4352 I know that's what I was trying to say, and honestly I don't really like that choice. They are actors not VOICE actors. And you can hear that.
I would say watch it in Swedish, it hits way harder because you get the full tonal inflection on words and phrases which I think can be lost in subbing. Like it will literally make you want to learn Swedish, that's how bomb it is, in its original audio.
Also I don't think Wille is stubborn. He just a highly anxious teenager. Like I can totally relate to the type of dibilitating anxiety he suffers from😔

the chokehold this show had me in last year, I'm so happy we're getting a resurgence in YR reactions after Heartstopper!! I'm swedish so I obviously prefer the swedish audio, but the english isn't as bad as I thought it would be so whatever makes you more comfortable!

If you watch you can see so many parallels between heartstopper and YR, and I LOVE that the actors are all obsessed with each other's shows lol

I hardly recommend that you watch it in the original language with subtitles. You missed an scene when Mom speaks in Spanish to then and as an immigrant myself I found this so beautiful and just hits harder.
I’m so glad you’re reacting to this!!! It’s my very favorite show ever!! I have watched pretty much every audio/subtitle combo and although it depends a bit on my mood, I usually prefer Swedish audio with English subtitles. The emotion is a bit more genuine and realistic in the original Swedish.

That was wild! I've never seen the series in English and that felt wrong somehow, Swedish is so beautiful and somehow the whole thing is more authentic then. But I can understand that with a reaction it's more relaxed not to have to read everything exactly. I've already watched the series at least 5 times through and even if I find it a bit less "fluffy" than Heartstopper there is a similar up and down between belly tingling and heartache. I'm looking forward to the upcoming reactions to shorten the wait for the 2nd seasons. 😃
swedish audio is definitely superior, but the english dub is done by edvin and omar themselves, and edvin's english is just 🥰 👌👌👌💅💅💅
